Note
what kinda music would the eds like?
oh dude
you'll be shocked to learn that all their tastes are based on my own.
to me eddy is a big Music Enjoyer™ and i think he goes through phases, but his overall taste is expansive. he's is obviously into disco - abba, sylvester, bee gees, EWF, kool and the gang, barry white. i see him enjoying old funk/soul/r&b - bootsy collins, the gap band, chaka khan, curtis mayfield, patrice rushen. pop/country oldies - nancy sinatra, dusty springfield, patsy cline, brenda lee, peggy lee, loretta lynn. 40s, 50s & 60s girl groups cuz that's what his mom likes- andrews sisters, mcguire sisters, ronettes, marvelettes, etc. 80s dance - the egyptian lover, pretty tony, debbie deb, newcleus, loose ends, madonna. 90s house and dance - crystal waters, la bouche, lisa stansfield, robin s, real mccoy. other 90s pop - aaliyah, britney, sugar ray, backstreet boys, nsync, aqua, smash mouth ace of base, TLC, destiny's child. a touch of ska with sublime, 311. other random stuff - fatboy slim, louis prima, azalea banks, limp bikit, shaggy, dua lipa (gay), the prodigy. there's so much more honestly but basically anything i like is what eddy likes 😳 he's like the catch all haha.
edd also loves music but i tend to think of stuff that reminds me of him vs. what he would actually listen to. crystal castles to me is edd music because i'm gay and emo but i don't think he'd really listen to them outside of the gothedd au that exists only in my head lmao. things i do think he'd listen to include kraftwerk, aphex twin, boards of canada, daft punk, massive attack, agnes obel, avalanches, burial. most of which he discovers through eddy of course. some outliers might be tool, muse, enya, anita baker (don't ask ok). there's other stuff i'm sure but that's probably enough for now.
ed is harder for me to nail down cuz i see him as mostly a rock/metal fan and even though i grew up listening to it, i've never gone super deep into the genre tbh. his favorite bands are primus and death grips. others would be alice in chains, nirvana, SOAD, melvins, butthole surfers, smashing pumpkins, black sabbath, metallica, rob zombie/white zombie. he might be into other 80s metal, black metal, sludge metal. none of which are anything i listen to so i couldn't tell ya what artists.
BUT other folks have made some great playlists for ed and the eds in general which i'll link here.
@mkorpse13's ed playlist
@mysticbeaver's ed and eddy playlists
@owmylasagna-blog's playlists for all the eds
@fish-bowl-2 has a great playlist for general eene vibes as well
my playlists for all three are here. not super long but i might add to them at some point.

New Title Tuesday: Romance Picks
Best Men by Sidney Karger
When two best men in a wedding party fall for each other, they realize love isn't a piece of cake in this hilarious and heartfelt romantic comedy debut by screenwriter Sidney Karger.
Max Moody thought he had everything figured out. He's trying to live his best life in New York City and has the best friend a gay guy could ask for: Paige. She and Max grew up next door to each other in the suburbs of Chicago. She can light up any party. She finishes his sentences. She's always a reliable splunch (they don't like to use the word brunch) partner. But then Max's whole world is turned upside down when Paige suddenly announces some huge news: she's engaged and wants Max to be her man of honor. Max was always the romantic one who imagined he would get married before the unpredictable Paige and is shocked to hear she's ready to settle down. But it turns out there's not just one new man in Paige's life--there are two.
There's the groom, Austin, who's a perfectly nice guy. Then there's his charming, fun and ridiculously handsome gay younger brother, Chasten, who is Austin's best man. As Paige's wedding draws closer, Max, the introverted Midwesterner, and Chasten, the social butterfly East Coaster, realize they're like oil and water. Yet they still have to figure out how to coexist in Paige's life while not making her wedding festivities all about them. But can the tiny romantic spark between these two very different guys transform their best man supporting roles into the leading best men in each other's lives?
Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Chandler Cohen has never felt more like the ghost in "ghostwriter" until she attends a signing for a book she wrote—and the author doesn’t even recognize her. The evening turns more promising when she meets a charming man at the bar and immediately connects with him. But when all their sexual tension culminates in a spectacularly awkward hookup, she decides this is one night better off forgotten.
Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. Her next project is ghostwriting a memoir for Finn Walsh, a C-list actor best known for playing a lovable nerd on a cult classic werewolf show who now makes a living appearing at fan conventions across the country. But Chandler knows him better from their one-night stand of hilarious mishaps.
Chandler’s determined to keep their partnership as professional as possible, but when she admits to Finn their night together wasn’t as mind-blowing as he thought it was, he’s distraught. He intrigues her enough that they strike a deal: when they’re not working on his book, Chandler will school Finn in the art of satisfaction. As they grow closer both in and out of the bedroom, they must figure out which is more important, business or pleasure—or if there's a way for them to have both.
Something Spectacular by Alexis Hall
Peggy Delancey’s not at all ready to move on from her former flame, Arabella Tarleton. But Belle has her own plans for a love match, and she needs Peggy’s help to make those plans a reality. Still hung up on her feelings and unable to deny Belle what she wants, Peggy reluctantly agrees to help her woo the famous and flamboyant opera singer Orfeo.
She certainly doesn’t expect to find common ground with a celebrated soprano, but when Peggy and Orfeo meet, a whole new flame is ignited that she can’t ignore. Peggy finds an immediate kinship with Orfeo, a castrato who’s just as nonconforming as she is—and just as affected by their instant connection.
They’ve never been able to find their place in the world, but as the pair walks the line between friendship, flirtation, and something more, they may just find their place with each other.
This is the second volume in the "Something Fabulous" series.
You've Been Served by Kristen Alicia
It’s the Magic 8 Ball’s fault. All of it. One teeny little question, and suddenly Simone Alexander is chucking her whole life out the window. So long, being a chef in California–it’s time for law school. In Michigan. Where there’s actual winter. And law school’s nothing like the romantic comedies said it was.
Simone is tragically underprepared. Hell, she’s already behind before classes have even begun, and her hard-as-nails Contracts professor is giving her no mercy. Then there’s Silas Whitman, her tall and annoyingly cute neighbor. Off campus, Silas is incredible. Kissable, even. In class, he is one thousand percent the obnoxious kiss-ass.
But Simone’s given up everything to be a lawyer. The competition is fierce and she has a hateful professor gunning for her to fail, but she’s not about to let little things like sleep, or love, stop her from kicking law school ass…

OOC: So my blog got tagged as explicit... Great.
Just...great...
And considering this is the second time in two weeks this is happening, it is not helping the paranoia aspect of my anxiety. It makes it almost feel like someone is reporting rather than Tumblr just being stupid.
If it’s the latter, then great job, algothrim. Because you missed the 3 p0rn bots that tried to follow me that I had to block...
If it’s the former, just what the crap? If you don’t like me (and I get it, hell, most of the time, I don’t even like myself) or you don’t like my writing (again, I understand), then just...unfollow or block or what have you and leave me alone?
Because this really makes me not want to write on here. It really saps the motivation I had towards writing, which sucks because I was finally getting back into a writing groove.
Tumblr media
I’ve had this blog for nearly 8 full years. EIGHT. I don’t want to delete this blog or move (not to mention all the sideblogs I’d have to move, too...) to a new blog! And it just... Like, what do I do? Do I keep posting? How long do I wait for the appeal? Just... ARGH! It sucks. It really, really, really sucks, and I just have been so stressed out and having my own self-doubts about my writing creeping in, and I just... WHY THE KRIFF WAS IT FLAGGED AND WHEN WILL IT GET REVERSED?!
So, yeah. I dunno. I guess let me know if you guys are okay with me still writing or should I wait till this sorts out (hopefully)?

@w-e-b-h-e-a-d: Peter wasn’t expecting this surprise at all so when Amelia texted him saying she made a little nerdy video for him … His mouth about dropped on the floor when he saw dancing in nothing but the slave leia loin cloth and just a chain.
Amelia waited a couple of minutes before texting him again.
[TEXT: Peter] So, what do you think? 😘
She never attempted something like this before, so she hoped he enjoyed it. Granted, she got the costume for herself, but still, the video was meant to excite him.

[Continued from here.]
@w-e-b-h-e-a-d:  Peter quietly walked up behind her groping both her breasts in his hands and began to massage them between his fingers.
Amelia gasped, almost dropping her coffee as her boyfriend surprised her, his warm hands pawing at her breasts, her body jumping up slightly, shocked, before she moaned, and she glanced over her shoulder at him, her cheeks flushed a bright pink, her thighs clenching together tightly. “Peter!” she squeaked.

Tumblr media
So basically this is an old-timey thing, where parents would put a lock on the rotary dial of their phone, so to prevent their teenage daughters from using the phone while the folks are out, to call their girlfriends and say stuff like "Gosh golly gloriosky, can you believe Georgie tried to kiss Peggy Sue at the sock hop, even though he's Daisy Lynn's steady?" and whatnot.
Of course back then, talking for hours on end would mean an enormous phone bill. Except during sundays. Sundays were flat rate day, so it was like the purge.
You weren't allowed to drink soda, but talk away on that phone! Of course, parents would also take advantage of such lawlessness, to call distant relatives and traveling workers and so on. And there was only one phone in the house, which lead to a lot of drama.
Now, you may be asking, how could parents prevent kids from using the phone when they were home alone? What with Michael Meyers attacked, and the kids needed to call 911?
Well, let's just say, in cases like that, kids would die.

your parents should have given you up for adoption the minute they learned your IQ. They must be as stupid as you are.
There’s nothing wrong with my IQ! I’m dyslexic not stupid. And neither are my parents, just leave me the fuck alone.

FC5 but John's word is "dong" instead of yes.
John leaned over the chair, bracing himself on the wooden arms. His eyes wandered a little further than they should have, making the Deputy rethink his intentions.
"Just say 'dong' deputy."
"The power of 'dong' will set you free!"
------------------------------------
This fucking killed me Heather. I almost lost it when I replaced his dialogue with 'dong'. Thank you for this gift though.

leverage for the fandom thing!
SEND ME A FANDOM AND I’LL TELL YOU:
Character I first fell in love with:
I knew Christian Kane was going to be on the show, so that’s really what started me watching it, but I think it was Nate with his “You know the part of the conversation where I punch you in the neck nine or ten times? We’re coming up on that pretty quick,” line that got me first.
Character I never expected to love as much as I do now:
Probably Quinn? It’s really fandom/shipping him with Aimee/Eliot and Peggy that started to round out that character for me.Character everyone loves but I don’t:
I’m not sure if anything really qualifies…maybe Sterling or Chaos? Like I don’t dislike them as characters on the show, but I don’t really have too much of an interest in them? Other than Sterling on a meta level and as a vague potential Maggie ship.
Character I love but everyone else hates: Does Nate count? I don’t really associate with people who hate Nate though I don’t think. ;)Character I used to love but don’t any longer:
I don’t think I have an answer for this one.
Character I would kiss:
It would take less time to answer who I -wouldn’t- kiss on this show. LOL. But Eliot. The answer if I had to choose, is Eliot. 100%. I am not original.
Character I want to slap:
I mean, sometimes I think Eliot could use a good slap upside the head, but he already gets hit in the head enough so…
A pairing I love:
How much time do we have? Hardison/Parker, Nate/Sophie, Aimee/Eliot…A pairing I hate:
Parker/Eliot without Hardison. Sorry fam, I’ll fight y'all on this one.

March Fic Read List
Tumblr media
It’s that time again already somehow!  Here’s a little rundown of everything I read in March <3
The Root and the Stalk by @the1918
~36k, Farmer Daddy Steve, Farmhand Bucky, Age difference
Oh my GOD.  The ending of this.  Lynne the ending….  What did you think you were doing?  By the time this is published, thankfully, we’ll be on Story 5 of this wonderful series, but honestly the growth in this and the sensuality of Steve and Bucky’s relationship is absolutely gorgeous.  Master wordsmith at work right here - we all need to thank Lynne for sharing something so gorgeous with us <3
He loves me cause i’m cute, he thinks i’m pretty funny by @its-tortle
~2.5k, shrunkyclunks, Tiktok, humor and fluff
Bucky puts up a video on Tiktok about who he’d like to date… and… well.  That video is brought to the person in question’s attention with adorable results.
We can take tonight (and make it last forever) by @greyhavensking
~7k, asexual Bucky Barnes, birthday fic, Absolutely adorable Steve Rogers
So you guys know I loved the first of these, with Steve and Bucky having this glorious relationship where they’re intimate without sex - a.k.a. The Ace Dream.  Well… this one is set in the same verse and basically describes Steve Rogers being absolute romantic idiot/adorable boyfriend and treating Bucky exactly as he deserves to be treated on his birthday.  It melted me into a happy puddle, that’s all I need to say.
Pancakes and Birthday Candles by @underwhelmingalchemist
~2.5k, Birthday boy Bucky, Birthdays through the ages
This can be summed up in how Steve helps Bucky to celebrate 5 years worth of birthdays, the common theme being they spend them together.  Very sweet little fic, perfect for a birthday celebration!
The Way I Feel For You by @becassine
~78k, fake dating, a/b/o, absolute adorable trope-fest
Oh my god, my journey with this one - I feel - begins at the beginning of it, when Bex was first writing it.  I’m completely emotional that it’s now done and fully posted and honestly, if you like fake dating and/or A/B/O and you haven’t read this, what are you doing?  The writing is gorgeous, the characterisation is beautiful and there are some real heart stomping emotional moments.  I definitely got teary at the (very happy!) ending and would totally recommend this one!
The Stalk and the Storm by @the1918
~45k words, Farmer Steve, Shrunkyclunks, end of series
So yeah, we’re back to the Lynne fangirling again as this has finished… and I am slightly heartbroken but that ending was perfect, in my humble opinion.  I know there are hopefully some ficlets in the same universe to come, and I am absolutely living for it because these two have been living in my head rent free since this started.  Honestly, if you’ve not read this, now is your time.  You don’t even have to wait for the week by week installments because it is DONE and it is WORTH IT.
Houden van mij kan ik niet niet voor je doen by @hawkeyeandthewintersoldier
~3k, A/B/O dynamics, hurt/comfort, happy endings, amnesia within a Bond
This was a lovely little fic by the very lovely Elle, in which Steve and Bucky are Bonded from Before when Bucky comes back, except Bucky doesn’t remember it.  It definitely leads to some angst but ends in the nicest way!  Definitely worth a read!
Our little secret… by @roe87
~25k, A/B/O, surrogacy gone wrong, mpreg
Steve and Peggy are married (though the jury is out on whether you’d count it as ‘happy’) and can’t have children.  They use a surrogacy agency, and end up paired with a young male Omega named Bucky.  When Bucky doesn’t conceive through insemination, he and Steve end up doing it the ‘old fashioned’ way…  I mean, what could go wrong, right?  Absolutely no chance of issues here… Anyway, I think everyone knows I love a good mpreg, and this was fun, it kept getting longer by the author’s own admission (and you will see no complaints here!) and even in the angstier moments, I really enjoyed it!
And an honourable mention (because I loved this!) to...
Sam and Bucky Text Saga by @darter-blue
~ Sam & Bucky, Stucky if you squint, Friendship
So, this started from a thing that was being reblogged of what Sam’s texts to Bucky (probably) looked like, and it being very clear one Sam Wilson was not afraid of being left on read.  Anyway, following an ask, Bec made it into the cutest story about how Sam and Bucky’s friendship might actually work out.  I absolutely loved it and it was the perfect brain refresher/lunchtime read <3

We’ll meet again | Bucky Barnes
Based on the song “We’ll meet again” by Vera Lynn and it’s set in the 40′s
Cut for length
“No one ever intends to fall in love, and if they do they are a liar.”
A phrase (Y/n)’s mother told her many years ago but (Y/n) still lived by to the best of her ability. So when a soldier approached her informing her that he planned for them to be in love, she was shocked.
"I beg your pardon?"
"I said, one day we're going to be in love." "Right, and you are...?" "Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes." He had a small smirk as he introduced himself to her. "Well Barnes, I am Agent (Y/n) (L/n) and I think I'm going to unfortunately need a rain check on that idea of yours." Barnes' smirk only fell slightly as he replied, "We'll meet again." "Oh I'm sure we will."
(Y/n) walked away and towards Peggy, her dear friend whom she had known for a many years now. (Y/n) rolled her eyes and laughed slightly as she realized Peggy had seen the interaction between the two. "Your mother is rolling in her grave right now." "And why is that?" "Because he just proved her entire idea of love wrong." (Y/n) rolled her eyes in disbelief, "And how could you know that?" "Because, even though he was direct, you were interested and you won't forget his face." Was Peggy's confident reply. "Right." (Y/n)'s response was curt in an attempt to avoid the topic and admitting that Peggy was indeed correct, once again.
Peggy most definitely knew she was right but chose not to push. "Well we have some soldiers to see to, do we not?" (Y/n) quickly nodded and lead Peggy to where some of the newest troops were, still thinking over what Peggy had dropped onto her.
It turned out that James, or as he had insisted to be called, Bucky was right about them meeting again. He just seemed to be unavoidable. No matter where she went she always saw him, but he never approached and (Y/n) obviously wasn't going to so the two remained narrowly missing each other, only ever exchanging fleeting glances through a crowded room and overhearing titbits of information from word of mouth and rumours. But they had changed on one particular evening.
It was at a bar that everyone frequented, and (Y/n) was alone, with no sweetheart for her own and seemingly no interest in acquiring one, she stuck out. However, she also seemed to be in deep thought and unaware of her general surroundings as she starred at the alcohol in her glass.
She was quickly pulled away from her thoughts when a familiar man strolled over, "Bucky." "Agent (L/n)-" "(Y/n). It's (Y/n), I'm just another person right now." Bucky's lips tugged upward at her sudden refusal of her position. "Right...(Y/n), didn't I tell you we would meet again and less then a month later, we do." "Interesting how life seems to be working in your favour Bucky." (Y/n) felt her own mouth stretch to a smile, she didn't know if it was the alcohol or the way he seemed so interested in seeing her again but she suddenly felt butterflies from the once annoying smile.
The pair seemed to always find excuses to be around each other after that, call it dumb or call it love, it worked. They became  somewhat inseparable, deeming nearly impossible to find one without the other when it was possible. But neither of them dared say a word about how their feelings stretched beyond those of friends. How all the hugs that lingered slightly too long were welcome. How all the almost hand holding was infuriating and made them wanted to just grasp the others hand and never let go even if it meant staying that way to the end of time.
But there always had to a consequence of war, (Y/n) remembered they left. She remembers the endless pacing, the nail biting that she caught herself attempting. The nervous feeling creeping up and down her spine like a xylophone. She couldn't help the hopeful light that burst into her eyes once Peggy entered the room ; she also couldn't help how fast it drained upon seeing the glassy quality to other woman's eyes.
It felt like she could still hear Bucky's voice in her ear like he was still stood with her, holding her close and whispering, "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when." She could still picture his smile, charming with a cocky undertone to it. But she was still unable to shake the ache of knowing something unavoidable settled into her bones and made itself well acquainted with the nerves and dread that had already made its on way hours before.
Once hearing that Bucky had fallen from the train and was presumed dead but they couldn't find and confirm his death, (Y/n) dedicated hours of time into research. The hours after work, became all her time at the weekend, which became all her free time.
It was a sad sight, really. Watching in a hopeless limbo as searched endlessly only for nothing to show up and wanting to believe she would make a breakthrough and find something but knowing that there was nothing to find.
Years passed by and (Y/n) still worked with S.H.I.E.LD as an agent taking more undercover and long term jobs, she was the best in her field. She was through and quick with gathering her information, she never spent over a month on one job. That was until she never came back from a case. They received their info but they never heard from (Y/n) again, they sent teams to look for her but nothing came of it.
Now if someone was asked about (Y/n) (L/n) they would be pointed to her memorial in the Smithsonian, it was in the Captain America wing and it was next to James "Bucky" Buchanan Barnes. The two lovers, immortalised together in the form of old photographs and paragraphs upon paragraphs of text and information.
However, if you were the right person in the right place, you would see a blur in the shadows, a slight tension in the air and two figures before nothing. The two winter soldiers were elusive and bound together. While no one ever lived to tell the tale of seeing them it was known they are never separated.
They say that if you become associated with the right people and see the right things then maybe just maybe you would hear the words, "We'll meet again." and live to see what happens.

The Man That Got Away
Steve Rogers x unrequited!Reader
Bucky x Reader
Summary: You had held a candle for Steve for so long, but he went back to Peggy. And you missed your chance. Steve would forever be your man that got away, at least that was what you thought.
A/N: Inspired by Judy Garland’s “The Man That Got Away” Yes, listen to this when you read it. 10/10 recommend. This idea has stemmed from my recent obsession with Vera Lynn, there’s a good chance there will be many writings from me centered around 40s, 50s, 60s songs.
Warnings: Angst
Word Count: 1,492
You stared up at the night sky, the stars speckling the darkness seemed dimmer somehow. You had found yourself on a bench in Brooklyn, overlooking the bridge. The chill in the air caused you to pull your jacket tighter around your body. He was an old man now, he had found happiness. You were happy for him. He got the chance to return to the love of his life, and you would hate to admit it but you were jealous of him. But the years had passed quickly for you, and you had to wonder. Was this the curtain call on your love life? Sure, you were young, but not as young as you had been when you first met him.
As a S.H.I.E.L.D agent, your first mission had been his retrieval, that was in Times Square, not from the ice. He had run from the facility causing mass panic and chaos. Fury was able to talk him into coming back with S.H.I.E.L.D. You had been assigned to help him to acclimate to the future. You smiled fondly at the memories of this time.
“Y/N!” You heard his voice call, running up to you in the hallway.
“Captain Rogers,” you greeted, “What can I do for you?”
“I was wondering if you could help me with this list of things I have missed? I don’t know where to even start. I thought I was caught up, but I just got more.” He stated, running a hand through his blonde hair, pulling his notebook from his pocket and handing it to you.
You looked at the extensive list he had handed to you. He had missed quite a bit since the 40s. You held your hand out to him, at this point you had developed a routine. He took his phone from his pocket as you started typing and tapping the touch screen. You handed the phone back to him. “I’ve created a playlist of all the music for you. Just hit this button,” You reached over and pointed to the screen so he could see. “And it will open the music for you.”
A smile crept onto his face, “Thank you. So what do we do about the films?”
You chuckled, “Lucky for you, I have an extensive video library.”
“Tomorrow?” He asked.
You nodded, “Text me.”
The memory faded away, leaving you, alone on the park bench. Every movie night you had hoped would end in a different way, but they always ended with Steve bidding you good night and leaving you alone in your apartment. Each time you felt a piece of your heart break off. Just once you had hoped that he would stay, kiss you, but without fail, he always returned to his own apartment. You should have known then and there that he had no feelings for you beyond friendship. But you had always hoped.
Seeing him on the lake, handing the shield to Sam sealed the deal for you. How could he leave all of you? How could he abandon the group, the Avengers? He was the First Avenger for God’s sake. What had happened when he returned to the 40s? What did he see that caused him to stay forever? To give up his friends, to give up the life he had built? The confusion brought tears to your eyes. As your vision blurred you missed Bucky’s eyes turning to you. You missed the concern in his eyes as you turned from the trio of men. You missed Steve whispering “Go get her.”
An emptiness filled you as you walked away. Sure, you had been pining after him for years. So why didn’t it hurt more? You knew that no man would ever replace Steve for you, the Golden Boy. He had always been the man you had dreamt of, but now with him gone, you felt empty. Unsure of what the future would hold for you. Would you find love? Were you destined to remain alone forever? You hoped that would not be the case, but you knew that love would not be the same.
It had been three years since the day he had gone back to the past. You glanced back at the stars. Good riddance, goodbye. You thought wryly. This is what had lead you to this bench tonight. And now it was time to let go. Time to say goodbye to the love that never was, and never would be. That was why you were in Brooklyn, to lay the ghost of your feelings to rest.
The first year had been hard, lonely, unrequited love had left you raw and broken. You had found yourself denying this reality for a few weeks after the lake, hoping that he would turn up, pulling you into his arms and confessing his undying love for you. But that never happened. That never would be.
You sighed, fidgeting with the cuffs of your jacket. You had been a sight this whole year. Broken and sad, a shell of the person you had been. All for one man. You doubted any of your friends had seen a sadder sight than you. But you had pieced yourself back together and realized that there was another man who had gotten away from you that day. That day you refused to turn back and drove yourself into solitude. A man who won your heart the first day he said your name. But you had deluded yourself into a love story, too blind to see him standing in front of you. You mind took you back to the moment he had cemented himself into your life.
You had been in Wakanda for training. Steve felt that it was the best option for you. But he had asked a favor of you. “Look after my best friend.” And you realized the true reason for you being in Wakanda.
That was when you met James Buchanan Barnes. At first he had seemed a sad man with his goats. Broken and lost. He hardly spoke to you each time you visited his hut. Trying to form a bond with the man, you inserted yourself into his daily routine. Helping him rebuild the fence that the goats had torn down, going to the market at the same time to gather supplies, inviting him to dinner with you.
Eventually you had worn him down and he accepted your invitation. The dinner was filled with small talk, but somehow it was not uncomfortable. When you were finished, he left your hut, a small smile on his lips.
“Thank you.” He said, leaving. Then a pattern emerged, James asking you to join him for dinner. Sharing meals, sharing stories. Him insisting that you call him Bucky. The two of you growing close, but not too close. Until you finally became each others companions.
Then Thanos appeared and ripped him from you. Your heart had broken. So you turned to the only person who was feeling your pain. You and Steve pieced the messes of your lives together to help others post-snap. You had stayed close with Steve, but something had always been off about your relationship after your time in Wakanda. You felt so stupid, it was Bucky. That was what had been different. You had no longer been in love with Steve. You were in love with Bucky.
It had taken you three years to sort out your feelings, which had been more muddled after those lost to the snap returned. And it took you those three years to realize, you were in love with James Buchanan Barnes. This realization is what lead you to the bench in Brooklyn tonight.
You heard light footsteps and raised your head to meet those all too familiar blue eyes. He was nervous, his eyes quickly scanning your form. Finally, he broke the silence.
“What brings you to this part of town, doll?” He asked, his metal arm reaching back to rest on the nape of his neck.
“You.” You answered boldly. You had spent too long in silence.
His eyes widened a bit as he sat in the space next to you, his flesh hand reaching out to grasp yours. You turned to face him. His blue eyes searching your E/C eyes. “Please tell me that you mean it. Doll, I can’t take it if you don’t.”
You rested your forehead against his. “I mean it. With my whole heart.” You answered.
His hand released yours and moved up to your chin. His eyes met yours for a brief moment before he pressed his lips to yours, deepening the kiss as you wrapped your arms around his neck. You broke apart, a comfortable silence surrounding the two of you, broken only by the sounds of your breathing. Your foreheads still touching you came to another realization.
Tonight, you had found the man that got away.

Reconciliation and Recuperation
A week passed since the Deborah incident. Alana had gotten worried about Castiel's refusal to return to school. “Are you okay?”, “Why didn't I see you at school?”, “Please be safe.” Throughout the week, these messages were sent from Alana's phone. Lynne had since come home from her book tour and was fully updated on everything else that had happened when Castiel came to see her. "I think you're right Sam... Our Mels has three suitors!" She cheered as they sat down to dinner. “Five. Armin and Lysander are clearly interested in her.” Sam replied. “Armin and Lysander aren't interested in me. We're just friends.” Alana sighed. "They turned just as red as Nathaniel did when Alexy showed everyone your Slytherin panties." Sam remarked. "Alexy did what?" Lynne asked, shocked. "Don't worry mom, he's gay." Alana explained. “Yeah... My biggest problem with him is that he's after MY man. Ken's ass is MINE!” Sam blurted out. “Anyway... Is there someone you like at your school? Is someone your heart set on?” Lynne asked as she turned to Alana. Nathaniel immediately came to her mind and before she could speak, Castiel joined him. She also thought of Viktor and everything they had together. Her heart raced at the thought of Nathaniel. "It's okay if you don't have an answer for that question just yet." Lynne smiled while Alana thought.
One day at school, Alana decided to finally confront the rumors that she had heard about Peggy's decision to leave the Journalism Club. “Really? She's the one who turned the newspaper into a shit rag.” Sam commented. “Come on Mels, why do you want to help her? She was one of the ones who went after you the hardest. Let her wallow." Ken rolled his eyes. "It isn't right. She has the opportunity to deviate from the tabloid path that she's on and go back into proper journalism.” Alana sighed as she began looking for Peggy. When she found the girl, she was alone in the Journalism Club Room and sulking. “Peggy? Are you okay?” Alana asked as she walked up to her. Peggy remained silent. “That's a “No”. Is it because of the article you wrote about me?” Alana pondered out loud. “I have no issue with the article. I just have an issue with the fact that the information I gathered was false. People are saying that I was Deborah's accomplice.” Peggy sighed. “Well, you were about as annoying as the tabloids that bother my family every once in a while. Not to mention how, if you were an actual journalist, you would have tried to get my side of the story rather than focusing on rumors.... I mean, seriously! If you're gonna come after me, could you at least be like one of the cool, nerdy, people who pester my sister and me for information about our mom's books and Nate's newest projects?! They at least have SOME form of current interest behind them!” Alana laughed. “Is that supposed to make me feel better?” Peggy asked, annoyed. “Nope. Not really... You were a massive prick to me during all that. Sam doesn't believe I should be here at all... She and Ken have even gone so far as calling what you've done to the school newspaper “Turning it into a shit rag for vapid idiots”. But, I see this as your crossroads. You are now at a point where you can make the choice between becoming a tabloid, or an actual journalist. I'd tell you which path you need to take... But, that's not my decision... If journalism is your true passion and goal, then go for it. Don't give your world up just because you made a mistake. Take this for the lesson it is and do better.” Alana encouraged. Peggy looked at her shocked, then smiled. "Thanks Alana." She grinned.
Throughout the following days, Alana grew more and more concerned for Castiel. She kept asking people, but no one knew where he was. "If he misses one more day of school, he'll be kicked out." Nathaniel explained. At one point, Melody told her that Principal Shermansky wanted to contact Castiel's parents but couldn't get ahold of them. "Where is he?" She thought. Lysander didn't seem worried whenever she asked him. "If his best friend isn't worried, that must be a good sign..." She thought. When she asked Sam and Ken, Ken was not kind. “He'll turn up. You know he will." Sam sighed. For the most part, school had returned to normal. The girls were still chattering about various topics, all while continuing to profusely apologize to her and Sam. The Principal tiptoed around her as if she was a dangerous beast, but did her best to be cordial. Lynne had a long talk with Carol. Despite that talk, Carol continued to be cruel to her and Sam, she just became more secretive about it. Peggy had begun her work towards the path she realized she wanted to take and was more focused on school news.
“MELS! ONE OF YOUR SUITORS IS WAITING FOR YOU OUTSIDE THE BUILDING!” Sam called as she closed the window. Alana walked into the living room. "Which one?" She asked, annoyed. "Look outside." Sam snickered. Alana looked out the window and her eyes widened. Standing under the same street light that he stood under when they last saw each other was the man she had been worrying about for several days. This time, he had changed his style again to a plain red gradient shirt that was bright red at the top and crimson at the bottom, black cargo pants with zippers around the thighs, his signature black leather jacket, his usual black chain necklace and black shoes. "Idiot." She thought at first. "I'll be back in a few minutes." She sighed as she left the apartment. As she threw open the door of the building, Castiel looked at her, hopeful. “You jackass! I said "See you tomorrow!" not “See you in a week!”. You didn't call or text! I had no idea if you were even okay!” She called as she stormed up to him, angrily. His look turned shocked as she yelled at him. “I asked everyone about you! You could have told me you wanted to be alone when you were here talking to me!” She continued. "I didn't think you'd worry so much!" He blurted out. “Of course I worried! I worry about everyone I care about! You know that if you don't come back to school tomorrow, you'll be kicked out, right?!” She yelled. Castiel blushed for a minute before he looked down, feigning a sense of annoyance. "I was planning on coming back tomorrow, anyway." He shot. She looked at him, shocked for a second, before relaxing and walking closer to him. "Good." She grinned as she stood before him. “I see you've changed your style again. It looks nice.” She smiled. "Thanks... Hey, why did Sam call me "one of your suitors"?" He asked. “Ah, well... That's because she's got this idea into her head... She thinks that you, Nathaniel, Armin and Lysander are all falling for me... Almost as if I have some form of reverse harem... Crazy right?” She laughed. "Right... Who would wanna kiss a girl as flat as you?!" Castiel nervously laughed. Alana instantly looked offended. "GO TO HELL CASTIEL!" She yelled as she stormed back into the apartment.
The next day at school was a curious one. Castiel returned, as he had told Alana he would. However, he had no idea why she was mad at him. “It's because you called her flat. Dumbass.” Sam explained when Castiel asked her. “Geez... Viktor still pines for her.... Lysander is soft but sweet to her... Armin plays games and watches anime with her.... And Nathaniel comes over for “study sessions” while they talk books and he pets Sylvester... But you disappear for a week, come back, and insult her...” Sam stretched her arms out and yawned. Castiel looked at her, offended. "You're insane." He scoffed as he walked off. “And you're in denial... Fucking tsundere....” Sam shot. She was already in a bad mood. On top of dealing with Castiel denying his feelings for her sister while Alana pined for Nathaniel, she was on the verge of kicking Alexy's ass for not leaving her boyfriend alone. Throughout the day, people commented on Castiel's new look to Alana. Nathaniel was still being very resentful towards him. "I guess it will take time." She sighed. Nathaniel sighed something about his feud with Castiel possibly never ending and asked if it would be okay if he came over to her place to see Sylvester. "S-Sure." She blushed. She had run in to Peggy several times during the day. The girl had a spring in her step, and her recording equipment in her hand. Apparently, Alana's tough love worked and Peggy was trying to figure out what the new project the school staff was working on was. and her recording equipment in her hand.
Later in the day, Castiel walked up to her. He explained that he wasn’t suspended, that his “week off” was on his record and that he had detention. He didn’t apologize to her, which made her mad. “Cass, while I’m happy that you’re not suspended or expelled, I’m still mad at you.” She commented as she stormed off. Rosalaya had wanted to go shopping, however, Alana had to remind her that she won’t be getting her allowance until Saturday morning and couldn’t shop until then. “Oh, okay. Well, we’ll definitely go shopping this weekend!” Rosalaya looked down for a second then smiled. “I’d love that!” Alana beamed. As she left the school, she discovered Nathaniel waiting for her. “I forgot to ask you... No Amber tonight?” She asked. “My parents are taking her to something and left me out of it. I told them I’d be studying all night.” He grinned. “That’s convenient.” She blushed.
Following day was mostly uneventful. She wore a really pretty outfit consisting of a blue, off the shoulder, silky, shirt, a blue skirt and black flats. She kept noticing Nathaniel talking to Rosalaya throughout the day. "I wonder what is going on." She thought. “He's probably talking to her about something mundane. Maybe she needs help with her classes?” Sam reassured. "Rosa does really well in school... I wonder what else it could be." Alana pondered. When she was walking home after school, she found out what had been going on. They walked out of Leigh's shop and Nathaniel was wearing new clothes. Alana looked him over and grinned. He was wearing a white shirt with a blue tie printed on it that had white designs on the tie. The shirt had a blue collar and the bottom had blue trim. over his shirt, he wore a gray blazer and his pants had become gray-blue denim jeans with small rips in them. “I'd like to rip those pants off.” She thought for a minute. “Alana! Hi!” Rosalaya beamed. "Hey guys!" Alana smiled.
The next day, she went to school with a spring in her step. She had decided to wear a frilly blue skirt, a frilly blue blouse, black tights, and blue flats. She noticed Mr. Faraize and Boris carrying large cardboard boxes with holes in the sides. Mr. Faraize was a pale man with short wavy brown and light pink eyes. He often wore black pants, a white collared shirt, a blue sweater and small spectacles. He was, typically, their History teacher, but he often did other assignments for the school. Boris was the Gym teacher, and Dake's uncle. The phrase “Muscle bound, flamboyant, romantic” would best describe him. He was a tan, muscular man with blue eyes and semi-blonde hair that had bangs and was pulled back into a low ponytail. He always wore a blue, extremely low cut, work out tank top, brown and blue work out pants, and always carried a red rose. Out of curiosity, she followed them as they carried the boxes into the Science Lab. As she went back downstairs, she followed Peggy into the classroom. When she entered the room, she realized that it was filled with her classmates, all questioning why the teachers had the boxes. “We'll be dissecting the rabbits in the Science Lab! Its so we can study them!” Peggy explained. Most of the girls became horrified. Castiel made a snide comment about them being just rabbits and that they died all the time anyways. Everyone gave him a death glare for that. “That's bullshit! We're probably observing them!” Sam piped up. Amber mentioned an idea to set the rabbits free, to which everyone agreed. "I'm okay with that." Alana Mused. They eventually settled on the plan to save thes. she followed them as they carried the boxes into the Science Lab. The students set to work, progressively bringing the rabbits to a group of students in the courtyard so they could take them to the park. "It's not going to work!" Castiel called. "Shut up Cass!" Alana barked as she joined Nathaniel and Armin worked on getting rabbits out. At one point, Peggy and Capucine ran past them, and let them know that the teachers were roaming the hallways. Capucine was a girl with light skin and green eyes. She had straight, shoulder length, caramel colored hair with side swept bangs. The tips of her hair and bangs were lightly dyed pink. She wore a hot pink, plastic, headband with frilly pink material on the left side, a pink dress with a thin, purple ribbon tied above her waist area, a blue cropped jacket with a small, almost-covered pink and gold logo, and the pinkish-white pearl necklace. Alana wasn't too sure of what to think about her. Capucine was often rude to her and Sam, and worshiped the ground of which Amber and her cronies walked. "She really doesn't think for herself." She thought when she first met her. Nathaniel expressed his worry about the possibility that Mr. Faraize could get into trouble for what they've done. “We don't have a choice! We have to save the rabbits!” Alana explained.
As Alana was about to leave the building, Nathaniel walked up to her and explained how the other girls thought there might still have been rabbits in the Science Lab. Apparently, they all drew straws and he got the short one, so he had to be the one to check it out. "I'll go with you, two heads are better than one." Alana cheerfully suggested. "Thanks Alana." He grinned as they walked to the Science Lab. When they got there, they skimmed the room and couldn't find anything until Alana looked by the skeleton and noticed a little white fur ball trying to hide. "We should call it Wenka." She mused as she held the rabbit in her arms. Nathaniel looked at her and blushed. "That is a cute name." He replied. Suddenly, the rabbit jumped out of Alana's arms and tried to run away. “Quick! Catch it!” Alana called as she ran in the direction of the rabbit. "Alana watch out!" Nathaniel called. Too late, she had tripped over the skeleton, causing it to fall on him. During the fall, Alana had fallen on top of him. Her knees were straddling his hips, his shirt had ridden up to where she could see his belly button. Both teenagers were blushing. "N-Nath... I-I'm s-sorry!" She stuttered as she tried to get off him. "I-Its okay A-Alana." Nathaniel stuttered. The nervous grin on his face was one you'd typically find on a teenage boy's face when they found themselves being straddled by a girl they liked. "You should have kissed him." The voice in her head spoke. "I don't even know if he likes me like that." She thought back. They looked at each other nervously as they dusted themselves off. "L-Let's g-go back t-to the o-others." Nathaniel stuttered. "S-Sure." Alana blushed. As he started walking towards the door, she joined him and quickly did her best to calm down. “Idiot! You should have leaned down and kissed him! Hell, you should have gone even further!” The voice in her head yelled. “No! I don’t know if he likes me like that! Shut up!” She thought back
Mr. Faraize did not look good and Alana knew why. “Where are they?!” He frantically rushed by Nathaniel and Alana made their way to the courtyard. Students were surrounding Peggy and Sam. Peggy looked a little upset. "What's going on?" She asked. Sam looked at Peggy, annoyed. "TELL THEM!" She growled. "Tell us what?" Alana asked, curiously. “Apparently, the rabbits weren't going to be killed for dissections. We were going to observe them and the school was going to return them to the Pet Store when we were done.” Peggy explained. “I TOLD YOU!” Sam boomed as she turned to Peggy. “And you're more upset about how another one of your precious “scoops” were false! How about you fact check yourself next time!” Sam scolded. Several students began to voice their concern towards the trouble that Mr. Faraize could get into now that the rabbits were gone. “Guys! Do not worry! We'll just come clean to the Principal” Alana announced as she and a couple of the students began walking towards the Teachers' Lounge. When they got to the Teachers' Lounge, Mr. Faraize had begun trying to explain the situation. "Excuse me! We have something to say!” Alana interrupted. Mr. Faraize and Principal Shermansky looked shocked as Alana, Kim and Violette came into the room. "What's all this?" Mr Faraize asked. The girls proceeded to explain what had taken place that day. When they were done, the Main began to laugh. “You're right! The rabbits are better off in the wild!” She chuckled. Mr Faraize looked at her, worried. "Do not worry. We can use money from the concert to reimburse the Pet Store. But, that does mean that the kids will have to study from the text books instead of observing live rabbits. ” Principal Shermansky beamed. The girls sighed, partially from disappointment about studying from text books, mostly from relief.
Later that day, Principal Shermansky announced that no one would be in trouble for the day's events. A wave of relief washed over the students. When they were all studying from their books, Alana's mind wandered to what happened with Nathaniel. “That was a missed opportunity!” The voice in her head spoke. "Shut up." She thought back. She then turned her mind to the weekend. "I can't wait to go shopping with Rosalaya." She sighed.
"Thanks for taking us to the Mall Mom!" Alana was wearing blue skinny jeans, blue high top sneakers, an oversized, short sleeved, blue shirt with a faded floral pattern, a deep blue sweater scarf, silver bracelets, and a silver cat necklace "Yeah! Thanks Ms. Roster!" Rosalaya beamed. "Of course! It's not every day I can take even one of my kids places! Did the other girls not want to come?" Lynne asked. "Iris, Violette and Kim are going swimming. When I invited them, Iris gave me a few coupons. I hope I can use them..." Alana explained. "Which mall are we going to?" Lynne inquired. "Well, we could go to the one in the aristocratic section of the city." Alana suggested. "Can we avoid the aristocrats?" Lynne rolled her eyes. “What about the mall in Weathering? It's huge.” Alana suggested. “We've been to that too many times. Rosalaya? Any suggestions?” Lynne called back to Rosa. “Well, there's a little mall in a town that's about a thirty-minute drive from here. It's what people from this part of Amouria go to.” Rosalaya replied. “There! A change of pace! Let's go!” Lynne smiled as she looked up the mall in the GPS.
“Alright! I'm going to wander on my own! Text me when you're ready to go!” Lynne called as she walked away from the girls. “Alright Rosa! Could you show me around?” Alana asked. "Sure!" Rosalaya grinned as they began to walk around the mall. Julien's was a men's department store that Alana got bored with. There was a toy store that Alana thought was cute. “Chez Louis has great pastries!” Rosalaya explained as they walked through the food court. They found a store called Microgames, which Alana fell in love with. When they got to Vingir, Alana became slightly fascinated, and a little annoyed. Vingir was a bookstore on the first floor and an electronics store on the second floor. "What's wrong?" Rosalaya asked Alana stopped by the Sci-Fi section of the books. "Nothing." She sighed. Rosalaya looked at one of the displays. Standing before them was a cardboard display of Lynne Roster holding one of her books that was next to a table stacked high of Lynne's latest book, Constance Crossing. On top of the center stack of books was a framed promotional picture of Lynne sitting at a table, signing books, with Sam and Alana obediently standing behind her. In the far left corner of the picture, Alana could see Carol standing, triumphant. "I thought you said you've never been here." Rosa observed. “I don't remember everywhere Sam and I go when we join mom on her book tours.” Alana sighed. "Your mom must do well when she brings you and Sam along... Doesn't she?" Rose pondered. “Mom brings us along because she wants us to share in her joy. Carol is the one who forces us to be obedient.” Alana replied. "Does your mom know what Carol does?" Rose asked. “Not entirely. You know Carol is very manipulative... And... Well, there's a lot of stuff I'd need to explain to you to make you see things more clearly that shouldn't be discussed in a place that's promoting her.” Alana looked down as she spoke. Rosa looked worried for a minute before trying to look cheerful. "Let's go upstairs!" She cheered as she rushed Alana to the electronics section.
As the girls shopped, they began to discuss lighter topics. "Only? Still like Nathaniel? Or is it Castiel or Armin now?” Rosa asked as they left Clara's with bags on their arms. “Why is everyone asking me about Castiel or Armin? They're JUST friends!” Alana huffed. “Because it's clear that they like you.” Rosa smirked. "You know I like Nathaniel... In fact... I like him more and more..." Alana blushed. "I know, and we should definitely set you up one day!" Rosa cheered. "Haha... I think its a bit early for that..." Alana nervously laughed. "Well, then, you should get him something while you're here." Rosa suggested in a keen tone. Alana thought for a minute and grinned. "That... That is something I can do now." She mused. “So, do you have an idea of what to get him? Or do you wanna wander around and think about it?” Rosa asked. “Let's wander around.
"Well, hello again." The familiar voice called from behind a couple of girls as they sat down and even snacks from Chez Louis. For the first time since she met him, he was wearing clothes that could be considered normal. Consisting of a white v-neck shirt, a violet jacket with a black striped collar, ripped jeans with a black belt, a black bracelet, orange sunglasses and his surfboard necklace, his outfit still screamed “Surfer Dude”. The girls were stereotypically pretty. One had curly red hair, the blue frilly top, the blue belt, red lips and skinny jeans. The other had straight brown hair, a yellow bra, a green spaghetti strap top that showed her belly button, a pearl headband, black skinny jeans, and a red bag on her shoulder. "God, not this guy again." Alana sighed, annoyed. "Do you know this guy?" Rose asked. “His name is Dake. He pestered me when Sam and I were at the beach and it annoyed Nathaniel... Then Nathaniel chased him away from me again when he tried to pester me before the orienteering race.” Alana explained. She looked at the boy, who was surrounded by two other girls. “Hello Dakota. Are you finally going to take the hint this time?” She asked, sarcastically. Dake looked around and smirked, devilishly. “I don't see your boyfriend. Is he not here with you?” He asked. “No, but I still don't want your attention.” Alana shot. "Come on... Alana... Please?" Dake urgent. "At the." Alana growled, solemnly. "Come on handsome, this girl isn't even that pretty." One of the girls laughed. Rosa began to look mad. Alana put her hand to stop her. “Let's go. I still need to find Nathaniel's present.” Alana urgent. “That's right! Run away!” the other girl with Dake called. “Alana... .” Rosalaya growled. "Don't stoop to their level." Alana insisted.
As the Rosa and Alana walked out of Vingir, the two girls that were with Dake cornered Alana. “I don't know what he sees in you. You're clearly not worth anyone's time.” The brunette barked as she kicked Alana's leg, causing her to go down onto the ground, and dumped her bag of goodies onto the floor. “I'm NOT interested in him! So don't bother us!” Alana growled. “Don't listen to her Kimmy! She just wants to trick us so she can get away!” The redhead called to the brunette. "Leave her alone you whore!" Rosalaya growled. “Stay out of this! That hottie was all ours until he noticed this little wretch!” The redhead sneered. The brunette kneeled over Alana, an evil look in her eyes. "Now, you will leave this mall and let that boy be ours." She ordered. “I'm not going anywhere just because you are a couple of psychotic bitches with nothing better to do than bully another girl over someone finding her attractive!” Alana snarled. "What are you going to do? Call security? Call your mommy? There's two of you and two of us. We'll just say that you two started the fight. Or, we'll just say it was an accident.” The redhead grinned, victoriously. “An accident? Do you even know who you're attacking? I don't have to call my “mommy”. What reputations you two idiots had is going to be destroyed anyway.” Alana laughed. The girls stepped back, shocked. Pink looked like she was ready to pounce and rip their throats out. The two girls prepared to begin a full on beatdown on Rosa and Alana. “YOU LITTLE BI-” The brunette began when, suddenly, a SPLASH rang through the mall and the girls were covered in soda. “Oops. My bad.” Dake announced, sarcastically. The girls looked at him in horror. "My clothes are ruined!" The brunette looked like she was about to cry. “Are you crazy! And its a soft-drink too!" The redhead's voice sounded like she was trying to yell, but couldn't. “C'mon ladies, you aren't going to complain about a simple little accident, right? It could happen to anyone…” Dake mused. The girls looked at Dake, crushed, before they looked back at our clothes. They looked at Alana for a minute. "This isn't over." The brunette called. Alana gathered her things and dusted herself off. “I think you'll find it is. Goodbye ladies.” She said, calmly. “Guess it was a good thing I'm here!” Dake cheered. "We could have taken them!" Rose Argued. “No we couldn't. Look." Alana pointed to a girl standing outside of Vingir. There was a girl staring at them in shock, her phone raised towards them in one hand, a copy of Constance Crossing in the other. “I can bet she recorded the entire thing. Carol is going to have a field day when it gets back to her that I've been cursing. Mom may be more mad that I didn't fight back.” Alana explained. “Do we need to go?” Rosalaya asked, concerned. "I wanna go back to microgames for a little bit, then we'll text mom." Alana replied.
"Mels?!" A feminine voice called when they got into Microgames. Alana recognized the voice instantly. “Lucy! Hey!” She cheered as the girl ran up to them. "Oh my god! I know its only been a few months, but it feels like ages since I last saw you or Sam in person!” Lucy hugged her. "I know, we haven't had time to visit." Alana sighed. She turned to Pink, cheerfully. “Rosa, this is Lucy. She's one of Sam's best friends from Weathering. Kinda boy crazy, but she's sweet. Lucy, this is Rosalaya. She's one of our friends from Amouria. She's essentially the “mom” of our group. Definitely a major source of logic and wisdom, with great fashion sense." She introduced. "It's nice to meet you!" Lucy beamed as she and Rosa shook hands. “Its a pleasure!” Rose smiled. The girls began talking about the usual stuff that gets talked about when old friends catch up. “Everyone knows about Ken's metamorphosis and his and Sam's relationship. It's the talk of the school.” Lucy commented when Alana added more detail to what hand was posted online about those topics. Alana then explained what happened with Deborah. "OH MY GOD! Well, don't you worry! I'll have her boycotted!” Lucy boomed. "Her career is ruined anyway." Rose commented. “Yeah, but she could still wait a few years and try to make a comeback.” Lucy replied before she turned the topic to her favorite thing, boys. “Come on! Are there any cute boys at your school?! Mels! Dish!” She urgently needed. Alana rolled her eyes. “Come on, Alana…” Rosa urged, a smirk appearing on her face. Alana began to blush. "What's going on?" Lucy asked, confused. "NOTHING!" Alana blurted out. “It's not nothing!” Rose mused. “Well, all the boys in Weathering are blah. I've gone through the cute ones.” Lucy sighed. "I swear, Lucy, you go through boys like water." Alana sighed. “Yeah, not every girl can be like you and Sam. You had your star-crossed, doomed, romance with Viktor and Sam chose Ken before he bulked up and turned hot.” Lucy laughed. "Viktor?" Rose asked. “Yeah, Viktor Chevalier. He's an heir or something. He and Severina Mekina are Mels' best friends. Viktor and Severina are blue bloods." Lucy explained. "The last name Chevalier sounds familiar." Rose commented. “Its because Viktor's and Severina's families are old blue bloods. Their data own the company VKT. Not long after Viktor's mom died, his dad and Severina's dad sat them to an elite boarding school in England. I still talk to them over video chat.” Alana explained. “It was a cute, Elementary School, romance. I'm pretty sure Viktor is still in love with you.” Lucy sighed. "Why couldn't you two stay together?" Rose asked. “You know how things are… He's a blue blood and I'm not. We broke up because we knew it wouldn't work out. We were thirteen, its been a couple of years since then." Alana sighed. “Yeah... Since then, a lot of the guys who liked you at Weathering have been terrified to ask you out. You had the rich, “prince charming”, type and they were all afraid they couldn't measure up to that.” Lucy laughed. “Really? Because at Sweet Amouris, she essentially has a harem!” Rosa laughed. "I do not have a harem!" Alana blurted out. “Yes, you do. Several boys like you and you know it. You study with Nathaniel all the time. You're constantly gaming and watching anime with Armin. You've helped Lysander several times... And don't get me started on Castiel. Alana, you're popular with the guys.” Rosa explained. “MELS! Come on! Are they all cute? Are you hoarding them? You couldn't have Viktor, so you're gonna have all the cute boys?!” Lucy poked and prodded. “Armin, Castiel and Lysander are all JUST FRIENDS!” Alana insisted. "But, Nathaniel isn't?" Lucy inquired. “Well…” Alana began. "Alana!" the male voice called from behind them. "Dake, again?" Alana groaned. "That guy follows you like a lost puppy." Rosa rolled her eyes. “I told you, he has been since he saw me at the beach! You'd think with how protective Nathaniel was around me at the beach and in the forest, he'd get the hint!” Alana sounded a little less annoyed this time. “Another guy in the harem?” Lucy asked. "Nope." Rose stated. "Hi Dakota." Alana greeted. Lucy took one look at Dake and blushed. “Well, well, well... This might play out in our favor.” The voice in Alana's head spoke. “Lucy, this is Dake. Dake this is my friend, Lucy.” Alana introduced in a keen tone. "H-Hi." Lucy blushed. "Hello." Dake grinned. “Dake, Lucy has never been surfing before. Can you believe it?” Alana started. "Oh really?" Dake looked intrigued. Lucy looked at Alana, then back at Dake. “N-No, I haven't. I'd love to learn someday!” She replied. "Well, the waves around here aren't that good... Nowhere near Australia's or Hawaii's..." Dake looked away. “No, but I think it's a nice place to start showing someone how.” Alana suggested. Dake looked at Lucy and smiled. Lucy looked at Alana for a second, almost asking for permission. Alana nodded and smiled. Lucy mouthed “Thank you” and began walking with Dake, talking about surfing.
When the girls had finished their shopping, they met Lynne at the front of the mall. "Did you two have fun?" Lynne asked the girls got into the car. "It was interesting." Alana smiled. "Yeah, very fun!" Rosa beamed. "You should have fought back." Lynne commented. "I told you she'd say something like that." Alana sighed in Rosa's direction. She turned back to her mom. “You know for a fact what would have happened if I had fought back. I wanted to, but the repercussions are too great.” She explained. "It wouldn't have done anything to our reputation." Lynne urged. "Tell that to Carol." Alana shot. "I've been having talks with her." Lynne looked down. “And I'm sure we'll get to that at home. But, still.” Alana cut the conversation short. After a bit of silence, Rosa decided to speak. "Did you have fun, Ms. Roster?" She asked. “Ah! Yes! It was lovely! I did a couple of “secret signings” on a couple of books, took a couple of pictures with fans, and did my own shopping! I think I even saw your friend Lucy with a boy!” Lynne explained, happily. "Secret signings?" Rose asked. “Its where, if she's near a place that sells her books, she'll go in, casually meet people who just bought her books and give them free autographs. Carol HATES it. But I think its fun.” Alana explained, a grin spreading across her face. "Do you know that boy that Lucy was with?" Lynne asked. “Yes, his name is Dakota. He's that boy that was hassling me at the beach when Nathaniel was hanging out with me.” Alana explained. "I think Nathaniel likes you." Lynne giggled. "I think he does too." Pink smirked. “Well, that boy is at our apartment all the time and I KNOW its more than just because he likes visiting with Sylvester!” Lynne laughed. "And it's easy to tell that you like him too!" Rosa cheered. “She's right. The only other person I've seen you look at like that was Viktor.... It's easy to tell what Nathaniel is to you.” Lynne sighed.
The following Monday began with a bang. Everyone gathered in one of the classrooms for an assembly. Castiel mentioned skipping the assembly, only for Nathaniel to remind him that he'll be suspended if he did. Alana presented Nathaniel with his gift and it made him blush. "T-Thank you A-Alana." He stuttered as he held the item in his hand. She had gotten him to watch with a black cat on it. She told him about what happened at the mall with Dake and the girls. "I should have been there with you." He growled. “I'm okay Nath. Dakota was the least of my worries. In fact, he was almost bearable." She sighed. "Not to mention how you kind of shoved your friend off onto him." Rosa chimed in. “I think it's a brilliant idea. Lucy loves guys like Dake.” Sam commented. “See. I was even a “wingman” to my friend because of him! ” Alana pointed out as the Principal and a few of the teachers entered the room. “Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sure you all are wondering what the next project will be. Well, the Orienteering Race and Concert were set up to raise the necessary funds for this project. In a few weeks, we will be having an Open House, that will include a school play. All of your parents have been invited. You are all required to decide on which play will be performed and which roles will be given to each student. Participation in this project is mandatory. Refusal to participate will result in punishment.” Principal Shermansky announced.

**Finn technically belongs to @cornfedcryptid but I have aunt rights to use them for this **
Loss of Innocence - Grace Seed - New Dawn
It took most of the day for Grace and Finn to make their way to the old abandoned Armory. They barely spoke, they had been raised as siblings, they were the closest of friends but neither of them quite knew how to process the emotions they were about to unearth. They had heard one set of stories from their parents about the events that led to the Collapse, but in the month they had spent with Carmina and her mother in Prosperity most of what they had known about their parents, their family and by extension themselves was called into question. Kim Rye, no matter how well meaning her intentions, had perhaps told too much of the truth to the pair. Not fully considering that they probably had no idea of the extent that their family had a chokehold over the county.
Pulling up outside the bunker, Grace threw the truck into park and as she turned to Finn. “Are you sure you want to go inside?”
“Am I ten years old, Grace Lynn?” Finn quipped sharply as they pursed their lips and ran their hand nervously through their short dark hair. “I mean, how bad could Dad have really been? Really... our dad... some monster?”
Grace pondered what Finn had said. Her crisp blue eyes fell upon the dash as she muttered. “Well, it can’t be worse than what Kim said and you are right.” Grace shrugged. The Jacob Seed who raised her was a strict parent, sure. He taught her to shoot as soon as she was big enough to hold a rifle. But he was not some violent monster who wanted to kill anything he deemed weak and unworthy. That wasn’t her ‘dad’. “Dad was a solider, sure he killed people... but it was war right?”
“Right? Dad always said there are casualties in a war and we accept that,” Finn repeated far more solemn than Grace had recalled seeing them in years. The pair exited in the truck and their respective animals followed suit. Timber at Grace’s heels. Mango taking her time as she padded behind Finn.
They took their time getting into the Armory, it had seen better days and there were dangers around every corner. “SHIT!” Grace screamed as she walked directly into a spider web with a scream.
Finn started cackling behind her clutching their pieced together saw launcher. “Well look where you are going dumbass.”
“Listen, I am still bigger than you...” Grace snapped quickly, wiping her face to get the rest of the web off. “I will fucking whomp you one right quick if you don’t knock it off...”
“Rawr...” Finn mocked as they waggled their head.
Grace’s eyes narrowed on her sibling for a moment before she glanced down at Timber and scratched his head. “You are now my favorite family member Timmy... and ya know what... you always should have been.”
Finn scoffed and thew their head back “How dare you, you wound me sister... WOUND ME!” They clutch their hands to their chest and mock being fatally wounded. At the gesture Mango, the cougar, rolls on to her back and puts her paws into the air. Faking her own death.
Grace and Timber just share a glance before Grace shakes her head and continues down the hall. “Come on Finn, before the rats find us..”
“RATS?” Finn squeaked, stopping their show and chasing after Grace who was already a good distance away. “Sister! Don’t leave me, please for the love of Christmas...” Grace rolled her eyes as Finn settled beside her and Timber, reaching down and scratching the dog’s head.
It took them nearly a half hour to reach what they assumed was once Jacob’s office, or rather one of them. It for the most part was fairly intact. There were still papers in folders on top of a file cabinet and Grace wasted no time to start her search. “Look in the desk, remember Dad always hid the stuff he didn’t want us to find.”
“All the way in the back, usually behind other stuff. I know, Gracie... I lived with him too.” Finn sighed as settled in the ratty chair and started pulling open the drawers and rifling around.
Silence fell upon them once more, each going about their search till Finn found a small wooden box. “Hey... look.” They said setting the box on the desk. “Remember didn’t we have a music box kinda like this, I mean...” When they noticed Grace was off in her own head again they wadded up a piece of paper from the desk and tossed it at her. “Eh... you... with the face.”
Grace spun around and shook her head. “What?”
“Come look at this, it looks like the music box we had in the bunker. Remember when we were small and innocent and you wore dresses.” Finn snarked, tapping the wooden box.
Crossing the room Grace leaned on the desk as she reached for the box and flicked it open. A familiar tune began to play and both teens eyes grew wide as they instantly recognized that song. In shock Grace dropped the music box and Finn pushed back from the desk. They both acted as if that was the most cursed object in the world.
Pointing at each other they each began to talk over each other till they fell on the same phrase. “That’s the song dad sang at bedtime...” They both instantly started humming it almost out of reflex before they each clasped their hands over their mouths. Taking a moment for their minds to catch up, the pair began tearing the office apart, finding more and more of the information they didn’t want to find but searched for desperately.
An hour into their search they each sat on the floor in utter disbelief. Finn was shaking their head as Grace stared at the wall completely numb, with faded photographs of Jacob’s operations in her hands. “So...my actual... parents... were the fucking public face of this cult and the people that raised me basically had their own fucking brainwashed super solider army...” Grace said flatly. Her voice devoid of all emotion because she was unable to process all of them that she was feeling at once.
“How? These aren’t mom and dad... they aren’t,” Finn choked out, far more upset than Grace had ever expected to see the normally light-hearted Finn. “Even... Peaches... and look... Judge...” They said shoving a pair of photographs attached to files across the floor.
Graces shook her head, she had enough. “I can’t do this Finn.. we are fucking born and raised by monsters...” Grace screamed. “I can’t. This... this is not the person I am Finn... I am...”
Finn scrambled to their feet and went to embrace Grace but she pushed them away. “Hey, you ever think I could use the fucking hug...”
Turning around Grace sighed and wrapped her arms around her younger sibling. They stood there, holding each other for a moment and in the quiet Grace heard a noise. Instantly they both dropped everything else and turned to their weapons. “Someone followed us...” Grace whispered as she went to the door. She could hear footsteps in the hall.
Bringing her finger to her lips, she set her rifle down opting for a quieter and personal approach. Tapping her thigh, both Mango and Timber crouched down with her, with Finn following behind as Grace snuck up behind the shadowed figure and drove her knife into their neck. She wasn’t about chance just wounding them, all for the sake of asking questions. Mango spotted a second figure and pounced with a snarl.
The man she mauled let out a horrified scream as the two hundred pound beast settled herself on his chest. This one, Grace would let live to talk for now. Finn walked up behind Mango and scratched her ears. “Good job, mama…” They cooed as Grace knelt down beside the man.
Her face covered in blood as she tilted her head to the side to look the man in the eyes, she asked. “Who sent you?”
The man choked as he gasped for breath. “Ethan...Seed…”
“Oh yay, more family…” Finn grumbled sarcastically as they patted Mango to move.
The man gasped for breath as Grace put her knife to his throat. “What does he want with us?”
“To bring you to New Eden… to find… the Father…”
“OH FUCK THAT SHIT!” Finn exclaimed, throwing their hands up. “Oh hell no! No! I said No! Grace… don’t you dare get a single fucking idea…” Finn knew where their sister’s mind was already going as she drove the blade into the side of the man’s neck with a sicking squelch that made Finn cringe and turn their head away. “Jesus…”
Grace looked up and smirked. “It’s time to go kill some peggies, Finn…”
“And what if we fail?” They asked sharply. “What happens then…”
“Then, we hope that Timber can get home and find dad… or they are dumb enough to leave us with in ten feet of anything sharp…” Finn grumbled and nodded their head as they ran back to clear all the weapons off the bodies before they went outside to face the rest of the hunting party that was searching for them.

Lucille Ball was paid $75 dollars a week when she was loaned out to Fox by RKO to make this film. She appears in the song “Waitin’ at the Gate for Katy.”

The film received a favorable review from The New York Times critic Mordaunt Hall, who called it "a neat, carefree piece of work, which is helped greatly by Spencer Tracy, Pat Paterson, an English actress who here makes her American picture bow; Herbert Mundin, Harry Green, and, to a lesser extent, by John Boles" and noted that it "has its full share of honest humor and also several tuneful songs." Nonetheless, it was a box office disappointment for Fox.
