Why do germans hate leverkusen sm?
well i obviously can’t speak for all germans (my mother for example who is a die-hard fan…😖) but it has mainly something to do with the way leverkusen is run. in the bundesliga exists the 50+1 rule which means that members of a club need to hold 50 percent, plus one more vote, of voting rights - i.e. a majority.
basically: clubs (and fans) have the ultimate say how they are run and not an outside influence or investor.
leverkusen (and wolfsburg) are both an exception to this rule based on the fact that investors who have had an interest in a club for more than 20 years can be granted an exemption from the 50+1 rule.
which i (and others) don’t like. anyways other things are just normal rivalry stuff and i can’t stand that they are this good. black magic much? 🥱

@liverpoolfanfiction @alissonbecksfan234 @millythegoat I FINALLY FINISHED IT. Here is the fic, I cannot believe I have actually finished a fic. Anyway follow me on Ao3- Moomin279. This is the product of me needing a Klopp hug.
As he sits there and contemplates, he wonders who to call.
He should probably call his wife but she’s so busy looking after their kids, he could call Virgil but he was preparing for Messi, he could call Jordan but he was preparing for France. He feels like a burden, he feels like a weight that needs to be carried around and he hates it.
He’s on the roof of the hotel, looking out over the beautiful city below him. He doesn’t want to talk but he knows that he’ll combust if he doesn’t.
Finally he calls the man that he calls when he has no one else to call.
Jurgen doesn’t pick up and he feels defeated. Jurgen’s meant to catch him when he falls, pull him up when he’s sinking.
He looks out on the city, fighting the tears coming to his eyes. Suddenly he’s back out on the pitch, he can see his teammates' tears and his coaches' tears. The shames back too, he has that same urge to apologise but it’s stronger now.
The shouting is back and it’s loud, it’s so loud that he almost doesn’t hear his phone ringing again. He answers it without looking.
“Hello? Sorry Ali, I couldn’t find my phone. I could hear it ringing but couldn’t find it anywhere. Anyway, What’s wrong?”
“Did you see the game?” He asks, listening as Jurgen shuts his door and sits down.
There’s silence and he can picture Jurgen hesitating, trying to find the right words to not offend him. “Yes.”
“I feel so guilty.” He whispers, that feeling at the back of his throat telling him that he needed to cry.
“Why? It’s not your fault.”
“Yes it is, I should’ve saved a penalty. I shouldn’t have conceded the equaliser. It’s all my fault.” He breaks off into a sob.
“Alisson, you are suffering from being the best. You have set the standards so high for not only the world but for yourself. People expect you to be fantastic so when you have an off day then they attack you for it. You didn’t even really have an off day, it was a deflection off the defender that put you on the back foot.”
Alisson is weeping silently. “Penalties are a lottery. The goalies are not expected to save any, the perfect penalty is unsavable anyway. You can’t blame yourself for the fact that Marquinhos missed, that Rodyrgo’s was saved.” His voice is soothing, Alisson can feel his crying start to cease.
“If… If I saved one then it could have been better. Could have been different.” He chokes the words out and Jurgen wants to wrap his arms around him.
“Croatia haven’t lost a penalty shootout since 1998. Football is a truly beautiful sport but sometimes it’s simply not meant to be.” Alisson leans back against his seat, looking out over the city.
“I really need a hug.” Jurgen smiles, pulling his legs up underneath him.
“I will give you one when you come back to Liverpool.” Alisson smiles. “Now, you get your week's holiday that I promised everyone. Are you going back to Brazil?”
“Probably yes. Natalia is already there with the kids, we’re flying home tomorrow.” Another tear escapes his eyes.
“Don’t think about football, you need to disconnect and not think for a bit. That’s the best thing that I can say, spend time with your kids and your wife. Don’t blame yourself for anything, you did everything that you could. It just wasn’t meant to be.”
“It’s starting to feel like it’s never meant to be. We lost the Copa America final to Argentina, knocked out by Croatia.”
“Sometimes it is just not meant to be. Brazil is one of the biggest footballing nations in the world, glory will return to it soon. You just need to switch off for a while.”
Alisson wipes his eyes, “Thank you Jurgen. I didn’t know who else to call, I didn’t want to bother Natalia or Virgil.”
“Why did you not want to bother your wife? I imagine she hates the idea of you suffering alone. You signed up to suffer together, I would hate the idea of Ulla struggling with something she wouldn’t tell me about and I’m sure you would hate the feeling of not being able to help too. I’m sure that she would love to talk to you.”
“She’s so busy…”
“Not too busy to help you.” Jurgen says, his tone final. “You should talk to her, enjoy your holiday and switch off for a while. You deserve it.”
Alisson smiles against his will. “Thanks Boss. You're the best.”
“Thank you, you’re the best too so don’t worry about this. I’ll give you that hug when you come back to Liverpool.” Alisson smiled before ending the call.
When he didn’t know who to call, Jurgen was there. When he needed someone, Jurgen was there. Jurgen had always been there and Alisson smiled at the realisation he probably always will be too.

Hello. Noor reached out to me again. Her brother Ahmed is injured and need money for treatment, aside from their need of a new tent which burned down. His condition is worsening and they urgently need donations to their campaign. Only €2,880 has been raised of the €60,000 goal.
Meanwhile, Mostafa's campaign only has €360 raised of the €50,000 goal.
Below is a screenshot of my conversation with Noor earlier, which I have shared on another post.
Please consider donating, especially if you have a strong currency, or at least signal-boosting this campaign.

Help a family buy a new tent!
Hey friends. Posting this to boost a campaign for @noor4habil8's family of 10 in Gaza.
Yesterday, it rained hard and the tent they were staying in got torn and their beds got drenched. They need another tent and it will cost them around $500.
They are vetted by @/gaza-evacuation-funds here. Noor also manages a tiktok account named after her little sister Aya, if you want to check it out.
Please consider donating, and if that is not possible at the moment, then boosting their campaign, which currently has €1,820 raised of €60,000 goal.
If anyone can match me, I donated €10 to their campaign today. Including my donation, their GFM only has 2 donations in the last 24 hours and 8 donations in the last 5 days.
Please also consider helping out her injured brother, @mostaf77.

Time For Departure

Warnings: loneliness
Klopp knew the John Lennon airport inside and out. He knew what he was supposed to do: drive his players to the airport, and wait at the security check until all of them were gone.
Of course, he’d done this before; members of both Dortmund and Liverpool had been called up for the World Cup before. But this time, something kept nagging him to call the whole thing off and turn the bus back in the direction of Kirkby.
He hated this World Cup, and it wasn’t just because of the controversy. He loved the tournament in general, and he was proud of his boys for securing the chance to show their stuff on the international stage. No; Klopp’s real problem with the World Cup was that the players had to leave in order to go to it.
Now Klopp stood at the departure gate, the last place he’d be allowed in before the others had to go it alone. He kept his thoughts to himself so as not to spoil the others’ excitement, but as he watched the players enter the gates one by one, it became increasingly harder to wave each one goodbye.
“Jurgen!” An elbow connected with his arm, yanking Klopp out of his thoughts. It turned out that Lijnders had been the one to elbow him.
“Ali was talking to you.” Lijnders glanced at Klopp, nodding towards Alisson.
“Oh, sorry. What were you saying, Ali?” Klopp sighed; he knew this was going to be hard. The plane to Turin, where the Brazil squad would meet up, was one of the last ones on the arrivals list, and that would mean Fabinho and Alisson would be the last two to go.
Klopp was never one to pick favorites among his boys, but even he had to admit that he had a soft spot for Alisson. There was just something about the goalkeeper that had wormed its way into his heart for good. Of course Alisson had gone to tournaments and friendlies with Brazil before, but to Klopp, this time felt different.
“I was saying, I’ll call you as soon as I’m on the plane.” Alisson gazed at Klopp from under his dark hair. “I am coming back, you know.”
Klopp sighed, choosing to hug Alisson instead of speaking.
All too soon, the loudspeaker announced that Alisson and Fabinho’s plane had arrived. With another round of hugs, the two Brazilians sprinted past the gates, towing their luggage behind them. Klopp watched on as his players became tiny dots, disappearing into nothingness.
*
Lijnders had been concerned about Klopp for the past two weeks. The German had always been close to his players, he knew that, but Klopp had grown closer than ever with this group of boys. The few times that he was apart from them proved that fact better than any of Tsimikas’ PowerPoints could.
“You okay, Jurgen?” Lijnders asked after Klopp ignored him for the fifth time. “You spaced out after the last of the boys left.”
“Oh…sure. Do they really need to take a whole month for the World Cup?”
Lijnders frowned at this. Klopp usually advocated for as much spacing between matches as possible. “Well, there’s sixty-four games to play, Jurgen. They have to take at least three weeks to do it, and the others will need vacation.”
Klopp sighed, still staring out the window. “I miss them already.”
Ah-ha. Mentally, Lijnders slapped himself for not figuring it out earlier. Of course Klopp would miss his boys, it was so obvious. Normally it was very crowded and busy around this time of year, with the festive fixture list and all. They would still have the training camp in Dubai, but that was almost three weeks away.
“I know, Jurgen, I miss them too,” Lijnders sympathized. “But look at it this way. We can get some peace and quiet while they’re gone.”
“Yes, but won’t it be strange? Every day will be too quiet. Those who aren’t with their teams will be on holiday, and it’s…a lot.”
Lender remembered the last time Klopp had been unexpectedly separated from the others—during the lockdown of 2020. It had driven him to what the Dutchman could only call depression.
“I know it’s a lot.” Lijnders took his left hand off the steering wheel, resting it on Klopp’s right arm. “But here’s the deal. What if I told you that we’re going to have a staycation here at Kirkby?”
Klopp finally focused his gaze onto Lijnders, a tiny spark present in the strange dullness in his eyes. “Really?”
“Yeah. You, me and the other staff will all stay in Kirkby while the others go on holiday. Kerry’s visiting family, but the other staff will be here. It’ll be just like this summer!” Lijnders tried to think of one more thing that would definitely divert Klopp’s attention. “And we can bake more Lebkuchen…”
“More Lebkuchen?" Despite himself, Klopp’s eyes lit up, and Lijnders silently cheered for the victory. “Okay, then. I guess we can do that.”
“Don’t worry, Jurgen.” Lijnders gripped Klopp’s hand as the car passed through a green light. “It’ll be over eventually.”
The German shook his head, but he finally made eye contact with Lijnders. “Eventually.”
*
On Monday, Kirkby was nearly silent. Nobody came into the ground, and nobody left bar Chelsea and Robert, who were going on vacation. That left the rest of the staff by themselves. Lijnders found this as the perfect opportunity to do something he hadn’t done with Klopp in months—have a cup of coffee.
He had poured two cups of coffee for them and surprised Klopp by setting the table on the veranda. Klopp had gratefully accepted, but no matter what conversation topic Lijnders tried to bring up, Klopp always put an end to it with a “yes” or “no”.
“Remember what happened in lockdown 2020?” said Lijnders, staring into his coffee cup. It was the last thing he could think about to converse with, and hopefully Klopp wouldn’t give him another “yes” or “no” answer.
“Oh, do I!” Klopp exclaimed. “It was awful. We couldn’t be with each other for weeks, it was like torture. No, it wasn’t like torture, it was torture.”
“But that didn’t prevent us from seeing each other, right?” Lijnders reminded him, clasping their hands together. “Sometimes the boys would walk around the neighborhood, specifically to see each other. They’d take lunch to each other’s houses, and they would eat by the window—one inside, one outside—to be together. Mo and Desjan even continued the garden. Ten feet apart of course, because those two were the most paranoid in history.”
“But…I didn’t do that.” Klopp glanced at a picture on the veranda wall. It was the first training picture after lockdown, with everybody smiling behind the masks even though they were six feet apart. “I just…shut myself in. The boys probably thought I was ignoring them.”
“Are you kidding me?” Lijnders rolled his eyes. “Jurgen, the boys were all worried about you because they thought something had happened to you. I mean, you couldn’t stop calling us for the first four days. And then you just went silent.”
The German sighed in defeat, setting his coffee cup back on the table. “I know, Pep. I should have considered how you and the others would feel about me suddenly disappearing. But at the time…I guess I didn’t think of that. I’m sorry.”
“I know you are,” said Lijnders gently. “What’s past is past, and you’ve more than made up for it. You picked yourself up and kept on walking—even though you’re pretty paranoid about the boys having to leave for anything.”
“Still can’t shake that.”
“You’ll be able to, eventually. Look at it this way…if you could shake off our away-game curse this season, you can shake off anything!”
A small smirk grew on his face at the mention of that. “You’re right, Pep.”
They toasted, coffee cups clinking in the damp November air.
something something dreams do come true ❤️

i wonder, how would ali comfort virgil? what are your hcs for that if i may ask?
pretty much the same way virgil comforts him! with a few changes:
Virgil tends to hesitate to accept hugs when he's upset, so Ali will usually hold his hand or something until he's calmed down a bit. Except in serious cases, of course--then it's directly to the hugs
Virgil has a habit of keeping his emotions under lock and key from when he was a teenager. It's decreased a lot since he joined Liverpool, but it still comes up every now and then. Ali will just follow him around and keep asking him until Virgil confesses. At first Virgil found it annoying, but now he doesn't mind it
Virgil responds well to music especially, so you'll find them hanging around in one of the rooms in Kirkby, Ali playing his guitar while Virgil just watches with the softest grin 🥰

Cody’s Picture
CODY! Our new Dutch baby :)
Tags: @millythegoat, @alissonbecksfan234, @moomin279
Klopp hummed to himself as he stuck another picture into his album. Smiling, he laid the book on his desk so the paste would dry.
One of Klopp’s favorite hobbies was photography. This coincided perfectly with his other favorite hobby, scrapbooking. He would take pictures of the players and staff, then post them in albums. This particular album was titled, “Squad Photos: 2022”.
On this particular page, there was a picture of Alexander-Arnold, Harvey Elliott, and Fabio Carvalho. Each was captioned “Our Squad Babies”. The fourth picture—the new picture Klopp had just added to the book—had just been taken two days ago. In the photo, Klopp was hugging Stefan Bajcetić, who’d just scored his first senior goal.
“Jurgen!” Lijnders popped up from nowhere, peeking around the doorway. “The media crew’s coming soon. They’ve got Cody with them, and they’re doing the signing video.”
Klopp sat up so quickly, his hat nearly fell off. Taking an extra moment to brush back his blonde-gray hair into place, he set his stack of photos down and followed Lijnders out the door.
“I don’t see anything yet,” he said, scanning the staircase. “Exactly where is Cody?”
Lijnders grinned sheepishly, gaze darting from walls to floor. “Outside, still starting the video.”
“Pep!”
Lijnders shrugged. “I can’t help it. I’m as excited as you are!”
Klopp had to admit that was true. He’d been anticipating Cody Gakpo’s arrival ever since it was announced on Boxing Day. The forward was a companion of Van Dijk on the Dutch national team, and it was through Van Dijk that Klopp had begun to get to know Gakpo. Well, not entirely—he had his sources.
The two managers waited for what felt like forever, but there was no sign of Gakpo or the camera crew. They gave up, returning to Klopp’s office to wait.
“The poor boy,” Lijnders sympathized as he poured himself a cup of coffee. “The video crew are probably following him like a shadow. What a way to start life at Kirkby.”
“Rather deceptive,” Klopp agreed. “I’ll bet Cody will be relieved to figure out that the camera staff here are very friendly.”
Lijnders drained his coffee cup, glancing at the album. “New photo in the book?”
Klopp nodded, running a thumb over the pages. “The year’s almost finished, and that means the next three pages will be for the New Year’s Eve Party. But I’m saving one place over here,” he said, jabbing a finger on the right bottom corner of the page.
“Let me guess.” Lijnders was already halfway through his third cup of coffee. “Cody’s first picture with you and I?”
“Well, duh!”
A member of the camera crew entered at that moment, hoisting a heavy black camera over his shoulders. “Cody’s coming right now. The crew wants a shot of you hugging him, boss.”
Klopp jumped from his seat, the album forgotten completely. “You don’t need to ask me twice!”
He leant against the doorjamb, trying to ignore the cameras approaching the office. Klopp was a natural hugger, but when the cameras were on him he found it difficult to act normal.
Finally, Gakpo appeared around the corner. The youngster was already wearing a Liverpool training jacket, a sight for sore eyes. One gaze, and Klopp liked him already. He completely forgot about all the cameras surrounding them as he pulled Gakpo into a warm embrace.
“Nice to meet you,” he said, ruffling Gakpo’s hair.
Gakpo, who’d seemed surprised at Klopp’s sudden affection, settled quite quickly. “I’ve dreamt of this for a while.”
Klopp let go of Gakpo, showing him the way into his office. “And you can keep dreaming here.”
His first of many Kloppo hugs
