i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.

#like majority of the time kids are not just 'being naughty'. they have big feelings inside little bodies it's a lot #also like.#it should be illegal to dye your hair fun colours if you aren't prepared for kids in public to ask if youre related to a my little pony #EDIT: the notes on this post are an absolute cesspool. i don't care about your reasons for hating kids you sound like a disney villain

“say something, please god just say something. you can hit me, scream, i don’t care. please just don’t- don’t just look at me like that.”

ponyboy digs his nails into his palms, carving little half crescents into his skin as he faces darry whose face had just turned deathly pale.

“dar- please, cmon.” he can feel tears bubbling up his throat, the silence clawing at his ribs right through to his heart. he starts to shake, taking a step back. his shoes were on, he could run right out before darry could grab him. but it was freezing out, he only had a tshirt on. maybe he could grab a jacket before-

“pone-“ darry’s voice is weak when it interrupts his thoughts. “pony, sit back down.”

ponyboy complies hesitantly, leg bouncing up and down repeatedly.

“you- you gotta understand, you can’t tell anyone ‘bout this.”

pony nods eagerly, breathing slowing down slightly.

“i know, i know-“

“let me finish. you’re still my brother, this ain’t gonna change that. but you gotta be careful, i don’t want ya getting killed or thrown in the cooler.”

ponyboy sinks into his chair, tears finally spilling from his eyes in wild streaks down his cheeks.

“who else knows?”

ponyboy gulps.

“what?”

darry slams a hand down on the hard wooden table, anger filling up the room. ponyboy just prayed it wasn’t directed at him.

“who- who else knows, ponyboy?”

he grits his teeth, rubbing his hands together before he responds.

“you, sodapop and curly. ain’t nobody else-“

“then don’t go tellin’ anybody else. not twobit, steve, not nobody. got it?”

ponyboy nods, beginning to sob as he rests his head in his hands. he can hear darry’s chair creak and growl against the floorboards as he pushes it back, standing up. he sits down into the chair next to ponyboy, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling him in.

“i love you, i’m so sorry ponyboy- but i can’t protect you. not over this. i’ll try, but you have to protect yourself too.”

cutie marks are so funny to me cause like. what if your life's calling + something you liked doing was flipping burgers. you get the mickey d's cutie mark the first time you step into a mcdonalds and everyone's like "woah i guess you're hired once the labor laws won't get us". do you think that shit factors into job interviews. someone with a gem carving cutie mark walks into a finance office and they're like "no go find a jeweler to hire you".

this is extremely funny because now im imagining ponies putting on fake cutiemarks suited for the job so that they have a better chance of being hired
