we thought it would be a great way to start off the new year and to welcome all of our new members and characters into the group by hosting an ask event that will allow us to get an in depth insight into all of the characters ! 

this event will run over the course of the next five days to ensure all members can participate free of stress, and scatter their answers amongst replies as they please.

formatting of your answers is up to you ! though we suggest answers are formatted in the form of musing / headcanon / drabble posts rather than in character.

be sure to keep all asks respectful and appropriate. if you’re concerned about receiving anons, feel free to have anons switched off so members have to ask directly from their accounts !

when sending questions to a multimuse, be sure to specify who your questions are for - otherwise writers may answer with whichever muse/s they please ( including multiple muses answering the same question only sent once ! 

when asking specific muses for certain memories, please try to ensure it will be possible for the writer to answer ! for example, if their muse has only been in town for one week, it’s not likely that they’ll have any memories of the annual shrike events.

there is never any pressure to participate in these events. while the event will run over the next five days, that is only the deadline for sending asks; writers can take as long as they need to answer all of them.

003. CARNATIONS

Shoto is a lot like Touya.

He's currently reading over his older brothers progress report quietly. Shoto was barely seventeen, but he was incredibly mature for his age. Out of all the Todoroki, no one was more dedicated to Touya's recovery than his youngest brother.

Shoto doesn't talk much. You would soon learn it's not because he was shy or anything, he was just a naturally quiet person. Meeting him in person for the first time surprised you a bit. He would write to you often—telling you all he remembered about his big brother and details from the war.

The villain 'Dabi' used to be all over the news. You remember his early days in the League, where he'd first made his big debut. You'd be studying in your dorm, the small TV playing recent events and information on the League of Villains. Their pictures would be plastered everywhere as the most wanted villains in all of Japan.

He was made out as a person to fear—the whole group was. His name was dragged through the mud online, and his persona to the world was one of a merciless killer who had no heart.

If only you knew he'd become someone you'd grow to know.

"I'm glad you're his doctor, Miss L/n."

You glance up at Shoto, snapping out of the daze you were in as you send him a surprised smile

Shoto and Touya's features are so similar. Both of them have the same, soft curl of their lips when they're trying to smile, something they obviously don't do often. Their noses are alike too—you can see the small pieces of them in each other. If you could point out the similarities between them even when most of Touya's skin was covered with bandages, you thought about how much more alike they'd look after Touya was healed completely.

He talks fondly about his brother, even after all he went through—Shoto doesn't show even a hint of anger towards Touya.

"When can I meet him?"

Shoto's smile is a small one, but the gleam of unwavering hope in his eyes is heartwarming to see. He truly loved Touya.

"We're nearing the end of his first month here. So I'd like to say soon! His communication skills with me show that he's able to hold conversations and express his emotions to a certain degree. But I'd like to give him a little more time, Shoto. What he went through was years of mental and physical strain. I want him to be comfortable with the idea of seeing you again. Do you think you can hold out a little longer for me?" You ask gently, and Shoto blinks in response before slowly nodding his head

"Of course. I... that was wrong of me to ask so early. I don't think he'd like to see me, anyways." He says with a bittersweet smile. His tone held no resentment, and you reach forward to hold his hand. His fingers fit snug in yours, and after a moment—he gives your hand a thankful squeeze.

It looked like Shoto and Touya's relationship would be one of the many things you would help mend.

Shoto left after half an hour, his heart feeling lighter than when he first came.

You were exactly what Touya deserved.

You were slowly learning that Touya had a lot of odd mannerisms. With spending so much of your time with him, it would only make sense that you would pick up on them eventually.

For instance, Touya didn't care for much spicy food. He'd always make a face when you fed him something on the hotter side, begrudgingly swallowing down the food as he complained about the aftertaste it left in his mouth.

You twirl the chopsticks through his noodles idly while carefully leaning over his bandaged arms to feed him his Soba—a meal Shoto had told you about when he wrote to you about his older brother. You still remember the glimmer of surprise in Touya's eyes at the sight of what seemed to be a nostalgic meal for him.

He almost looks embarrassed by the fact that you're feeding him as he opens his mouth for you—quickly chomping down on the soft noodles as he chews slowly, watching you with narrowed eyes. It's hard not to laugh as he squints at you, the soft pale skin around his eyes crinkled even further when he spotted your small smile.

He doesn't comment on it, resorting to flicking through the few channels he was allowed to watch on the TV. His arm was draped over the side of his bed, his bandaged fingers grazing your knee every now and then from where you sat in the seat right beside his bed. He never moved his hand away when the pads of his fingertips touched you—sometimes it seemed like he was purposely trying to poke you, but you brushed away the prospect.

"Do you like the food, Touya? It smells really good!"

He meets your gaze with a soft grunt, stretching out his legs in front of him as he nods his head.

"It's fine. Better than the shit I ate before all this." He says, waving his hand around the hospital room as you slowly nod your head

"Really? How so? What did you eat before?"

He shrugs, and the fact that he doesn't really care about his once poor diet must be what makes you tap your foot nervously against the tiled floor beneath you. His transcript said he'd been missing since he was 13. Had he really been living so carelessly and alone since then?

Touya had gone through the most important development years of his life all by himself while being unable to control his quirk. You remember the day they first brought him in after the war, the pictures before his surgery were so heartbreaking to see when you were first handed his file. But doctors were miracle workers, and you were all trying to help him in different ways

The price for Touya's recovery was not small.

"Well, now you're going to be eating all sorts of delicious and healthy foods! Fresh vegetables and fruits with big meals that'll fill your stomach. What we eat is really important, and you certainly need the energy from the nutrients!"

He rolls his eyes as he chews, but nods nonetheless. As you go to feed him another bite of his Soba, his nose scrunches up a bit as he leans back in his bed

"Does that bite have a piece of broccoli in it?"

"Touya."

You managed to feed him the rest of his meal before getting him a change of clothes. A simple black lounge set that would be comfortable for him to walk outside in.

Today, you were going to bring him to one of your favorite places in the hospital.

He peers around the recreational garden curiously, as if he was scoping out the area for any threats. Touya's eyes are attentive and careful as he keeps an eye out on the other patients—who were simply minding their own business. This however, did not mean they were saved from Touya's menacing glares.

He walked beside you, and you had to put some distance between you and him so you didn't have to feel him towering over you as you both walked. You remain a pace ahead and you turn back to him with a soft smile that quickly captures his attention.

"You and I will have weekly walks here. The gardens are so beautiful Touya—this environment is great for your mind. It allows you to relax. The other patients here are lovely, all right? They won't bother you." You say softly, and he nods his head as he finally averts his gaze from everyone else to look solely at you. Quickly, you begin walking again as you lead him down the various paths in the garden

"You're free to come here whenever you'd like! You don't really have a curfew because, well, you're not leaving the facility. But it would be ideal if you come back in time for dinner! I'm free if you ever need someone to talk to or walk with." You remind him gently, and Touya wants to nod his head and say something along the lines of 'okay, thank you' or anything decent, but he finds the words stuck in his throat.

What would the people from his past say if they saw him now? He was such a big talker. He still was, but here in your presence—he found himself almost shying away. It was embarrassing. He shouldn't be thinking so hard on how to say thank you for something so simple and stupid that left your sweet lips. Was he really that messed up? Can he not even say thank you?

You tilt your head at him with a small smile, and he's almost annoyed with how well you're able to read him. It seems like you know exactly what he's thinking whenever you look at him—sure, that was kind of your job. But it felt different for Touya, more personal.

"Thanks. I guess." He mutters, leaning against the brick wall behind him as he peers around the garden, taking in the scenery and stone arches that were made throughout the entirety of it - flowers and vines crawling up their sides as they bathed in the warm sunlight.

You spend the rest of the evening telling him all about the history of the hospital—about the founder, an honorable man, and all the people who helped make it. It was a place for new beginnings. And when you said that, you see a bit of the tension release from Touya's usually clenched fists. By the end of your walk with him, his fists had uncurled completely as they laid relaxed at his sides.

Touya didn't ever seem to notice when he was invading your personal space. There were a few times where you got lost in speaking, and it always made your heart rate spike when you turned around to ask him a question or just to check how he's faring and he'd be standing right there beside you. Barely a step away from having his breath tickle your skin. But the moment you moved even an inch closer to him, it was like he suddenly became hyper-aware of his surroundings.

He didn't really know why he was so against touching people. Maybe it was because he hadn't received a lick of affection since he was a kid—and even then, his life was so messed up that he can't even remember liking the tenderness of a hug or a kiss from a loved one.

Now that he thinks about it, he's never really had anyone to touch.

So when he's lowering himself onto the hospital bed with a tired sigh at night, he freezes when he feels your soft hand pressing itself onto his upper arm.

"Let me help—"

"Don't touch me."

He wants to take the words back the moment the words leave his mouth. But even then, he quickly slips out of your grasp and sits on the edge of the bed. He's laying down and peering up at the ceiling with a grimace. Ashamed.

Please don't hate me, are the first words that come to his mind when he squeezes his eyes shut. He'd understand, is what he tells himself—if you walked out and left him right then and there. He must be becoming such a burden, such a pain for you—

Touya feels a soft blanket being thrown over his long frame, the fabric quickly covering him as you peer over the bed and hover over him. His breath hitches in his throat as you do, mainly at the sight of you peering down at him so nicely. It makes his chest feel unbearably tight.

"Goodnight, Touya."

You're met with silence. You turn his lamp off, and he lays quietly as he watches you pack up your things. Clipboards and pens and cards from a small game you two had played after breakfast all go into your bag. The moonlight streaming through the window is the only form of light he needs to see that you're not angry with him. Your eyes don't look mad—you look perfectly content as you pack your bag as you routinely do.

You sling your bag over your shoulder once you're all packed, leaving the room as quietly as you did when you had entered the same morning. He doesn't know how long he stays awake, but he stares at the glow in the dark stars plastered on his ceiling until he can see them even after he closes his eyes.

It was going to be another long, sleepless night for him.

it was impossible not to think of his own father whenever he was in his son’s presence. gideon y. weissberg, esquire and his untimely death cast a long shadow over all three lives left behind. over the lives of micah, gideon, and eliana, too. perhaps it was the benefit of that untimely death that left saul and levi’s father a bit deified in their eyes. memory could be grander than the man, and while saul remembered the times where his dad grounded him for three weeks because he got caught smoking weed in the bathroom of his private school again or his dad kept him up for three hours on a school night with a lecture on taking his future seriously, they paled in comparison to the million amazing things he could say about his father. no one remembered the bratty quips or early bedtimes when the man was dead. he wondered then if micah would remember the good over the bad when saul eventually died—if there were any good memories at all. saul had no one to blame but himself for that.

saul had expected micah to push him off immediately, to cower away from his embrace, but micah instead melted into it. for a split second, saul almost buckled underneath the weight of his son, overwhelmingly soft when saul had expected rigidness. he could hold him, though. micah was an inch taller, broader in the shoulders, but saul could carry him. he had to. “hi, mikey.” saul whispered hoarsely, a hand rising to clasp the back of micah’s head as he burrowed into his neck. he held on tight to his son, afraid he’d float away or slip out of his embrace into a puddle on the pavement. maybe he didn’t have any right to, but he missed micah. half of his heart belonged to his twin brother, while the other resided in micah—with both of them in new york, there was no heart to beat in his own chest. it felt like getting his heart back.

eventually, saul loosened his grip, but didn’t let micah get too far by moving his hands to his biceps. “are you okay? do you need anything?” he had been warned by multiple people not to smother micah or else he’d never establish contact with saul again, but the instinct to baby the nearly thirty year old man was impossible to quell. a latent instinct, maybe. he had been an affectionate father, but an absent one. “mikey, where are you staying?”

‎ micah hadn't thought any of this through. showing up to an event his father had put together—looking for both his parents, less like a child lost in the aisles of a supermarket and more like a guy selling condo units apprehensively looking for someone to hand the brochures out to—he hasn't a clue how finally confronting his father will go. would he pass through him as if he were a ghost, a cluster of dark matter meant to be felt but never seen? would he yell at him (does he care enough to?) or would he pretend like nothing happened?

he doesn't think his father has ever seen him smoke, let alone if he even knows he is afflicted with the vice, but the elephant in the parking lot could never hold a candle to the jabberwock lingering on the periphery of his relationship with his father for the past three decades. a nicotine addiction is the least of their concerns.

and then, there is no longer distance, but an unfamiliar warmth as his father pulls him into an embrace. he freezes, awkwardly, with the hand holding the cigarette instinctively pointing away, head bowed slightly towards the back of his father's shoes, at the slight ridges on the concrete, their shadows melting under the slowly dying light.

"hi, dad," he sighs, shoulders sagging, he tries to keep himself steady. doesn't pull, doesn't push. just lets himself be held by the arms that used to carry him around his old firm, showing him off like his newest accessory. or maybe that was uncle luke taking him to work to see his mother. he never remembers anymore. does it really matter? slowly, he buries his face in the crook of his father's neck, breathing in his old-man cologne, safe, if only for now, from all the world's uncertainties. for now, one thing he is sure of: he is his father's boy.

   her voice, audible even to nicolette. small, distant. the youthful hope of a small girl, crying.

   and then they're falling.

   mad hatter howls, still, for a few moments longer, when the ground beneath them disappears, leaving them in the air, falling endlessly. it's dark, because that's how break remembers the abyss— when he'd first fallen after the completion of his contract with albus, when he'd still had both of his eyes, when he could still see. nicolette's hands are scarred, against his cheeks. his grip becomes stronger, as one of his arms reaches out to catch her around the waist. (he won't let go.)

   darkness, howling, voices drowned out in the midst of it, memories chopped up, scattered around them, until, eventually—

   they land, almost gently, on their knees. break's breath shudders, but nicolette is still leaning against him, and he doesn't know where they are, so he scrambles for his cane, only to realize he let go of it. when he reaches out to mad hatter, his chain doesn't answer. behind his eyelids, lights start to dance.

   his hand on nicolette's wrist wanders, fingers going through her hair slowly, pressing her head against him, as well. and, then, suddenly, he knows where they are. with the sound of dolls laughing, chattering. the light behind his eyelids, now warm. comforting.

   ' that's right ... your name is kevin, right? '

   alyss' voice has been in his dreams for decades, and still, he grits his teeth hearing it. ' it's a memory, ' he manages to press out, feebly, gaze following the scene by sound. ' we'll be ... alright. '

The man goes next, and she continues to watch, even after the muffled groans of pain, choked out around the blood filling his mouth, die out. Both bodies lay prone and lifeless, painting the cobblestone red. The apparition has hardly worked up a sweat, face remaining cold and impassive through it all. She's witnessed the very same look many times, watching the prisoners kill each other in battle like it was as easy as breathing air. Surely, at one point, she had worn that expression, too.

The scene goes on, growing more strange and confusing, though Break reacts with potent fear. He draws them further away without turning to face her, and she doesn't fight against it, back pressed to chest as her grasp remains on his wrist. She doesn't miss the words muttered through grit teeth, concern lining her features as she stares at the back of his head. ❝ Break, ❞ comes a harsh whisper, ❝ what's happening? What's— ❞

His distress grows, and Break cracks further with a wounded, animal sound. Nicolette can't help but flinch, unsure of how to aid him as he regresses further into himself. She's not sure what'll happen if he loses his grip on reality entirely, but it surely won't be good for either of them. ❝ Hey— hey hey hey ! ❞ Her voice rises in pitch before evening out, grabbing him by the shoulder. She moves to stand before him, back turned towards ghosts of the past— he may not be able to actually see it, but she'll act as his shield, regardless.

❝ Break... come on, focus on me, aren't I right here? ❞ Gentle words are punctuated by scarred hands sliding up the slope of his shoulders and neck before pale cheeks are cradled in the canter of her palms. ❝ You're right here. None of it is real— the past is dead. ❞

If the scene has continued, she does not see. Sick curiosity urges her to turn around, to look, but Nicolette cannot bring herself to turn away from the face crumbled in despair. If the doppelganger has made any moves, she pays it little mind. ❝ We're in this shitshow together, right? What am I gonna do if you go and leave me alone? I'm... very bad with directions! ❞

After her massive debut this year, of course everyone's favorite Barbie had to pull up to FicFest! So, how was Chouka's experience at the event of the year?

SHE'S FASHION'S FAVORITE B*TCH ... !

Of course, Chouka had to wear pink on a pink carpet. This is Chouka we're talking about. Being the industry's resident fashion expert and girly girl, she stunned in three archive pieces in one night. Her pink carpet look was Jean Louis Scherrer S/S 1988, gloves and all. Her presentation look was Guy Laroche S/S 1991, and her after-party look was Versace F/W 1991. Despite being a Dior ambassador, Chouka refuses to chain herself to the brand. We love that for her!

Seven years in the game and still, no one knows how Chouka manages to source her looks, but she's Chouka Aikawa. It's self-explanatory at this point.

So, when Chouka decided to finally give everyone what they'd been waiting for at FicFest, her fans couldn't have been happier.

Everything from the stage design, to her costume, to her hair (she was wearing a tiara, by the way!) was praised to hell and back, because of course it was. But, you'll have to watch it yourself! Which you can see...

One of the interviewers on FicFest's pink carpet was Stray Kids' Cléo Torell, whom Chouka definitely had to chat with! From the three things she couldn't live without (hint: it's definitely her closet) to the fact that she couldn't shut up about her newlywedded husband Jason (justified, honestly), it was quite the interesting interview. You can read all of it here!

002. CUTEST COUPLE AT FICFEST!

Oh my God, Jason and Chouka were the cutest thing ever that night. From giggling and publicly flirting during a joint interview to Jason being the first one to give his wife a standing ovation, they said to hell with netizens and were as lovey-dovey as possible. But the best part? Jason pulling Chouka into both a kiss and a hug after her performance. Needless to say, Rosettes in the crowd went batshit. Get yourself a man like Jason Day-Fujiwara, y'all.

003. "YES, I LIKED THE PERFORMANCES. NO, I DON'T HATE ANYONE."

Chouka is known for her resting bitch face, as seen with all the shots of her in the front rows of Parisian fashion shows. And of course, her RBF was on full display during FicFest. But, that doesn't mean she hated being there! However, there were some people (read: Twitter users) that... didn't like how she looked during some of their faves' performances. It got to the point where after the ceremony, an interviewer asked Chouka if she liked the performances from her fellow idols. Her response? "Yes, I liked the performances. No, I don't hate anyone."

Chouka had to tack on a couple more words, of course, saying, "Well, I do strongly dislike some people, but I don't need to name names right now. Regardless, cool it with the misogyny."

Chouka had the pleasure of presenting "Most Visually Pleasing Lineup" during the ceremony, alongside the second gen visual herself, Park Ah-reum of DI-VERSE (famously known as Ahri). The duo to end all duos, the fact that they were paired together was a hot topic all down the timeline. On Chouka's end, everything about her while on that stage was a talking point. From the fact that she changed her dress to her professional attitude to even her voice (her accent is always a favorite), Chouka Aikawa was definitely one of FicFest's "It" girls. But, that's not surprising in the slightest.

THE AFTER-PARTY ... !

Following the ceremony, Chouka invited everyone she knew to her very pink penthouse apartment in Hannam the Hill for Chouka's Very Pink Afterparty! Complete with rosé champagne and other pink cocktails, hors d'oeuvres in various shades of, well... pink, and even a photobooth (in, you guessed it, pink), this afterparty is one of the hottest on the block! Like a cross between a high-end cocktail party and the cutest tea party ever, it's all you'll ever talk about!
