For the author never have I ever- age gap? 🤔

I have!! My Museum fic, back when we were dinosaurs features a nine year age gap (Sirius is 23 and Remus is 32).

Age gap fics really need to be done right for me to get into them, but there are absolutely a few bangers out there!!

Yes! I missed you friend! Well the girlies are loving Fouled by Fate, which is my Aurelien story (shoutout to Maha @trenterprise iykyk) and this new Jules one called In Between The Lines (it’s interconnected with Fouled by Fate and Hey There Delilah)

My suggestions is read what you missed of Sakura Dreams - I don’t think you’ve read Chapter 3 & 4 then Fouled by Fate or Hey There Delilah (if you like Jude) and saving that new Jules story for last.

Hi I've been wondering something since I've read the engagement chapter in fbf, what is really the reason Zuri wasn't taught the cultural dances and all but her brother was? Like it just feels like her father purposely tried to cut her out of the family then has the nerve to treat her like she's good for nothing?

I can tell that her mother doesn't treat her the same cause Zuri seems to know her traditional recipes well, which she likely got from her.

Maybe something self explanatory I'm missing but I think about this everytime I read a new chapter from that story 😩

Good question! And my simple answer is: CONTROL!!!!

As you can probably get a hint, her family is strict and structured for patriarchy. Now this is not my personal interpretation of African households/culture, but I did this to fit the storyline. Of course she knows some recipes because her mother does all of the cooking and she is expected to do the same but everything else is basically Americanized to her, meaning her father ensured that she assimilated to the U.S. culture and throw her to the wolves in regards to the elders in Cameroon, etc to further his point of driving the arranged marriage: “My poor daughter who knows nothing and is spoiled American wannabe needs to marry this rich Cameroonian man who is doing so much for his culture and his family” spiel and him knowing Aurelien’s father made the icing on the cake.

Fbf is so good, the way you describe aurel's personality is very on point imo and the whole plot is just so adorable and cute. I can't wait for the next parts but at the same time I don't want them because it'll mean the series will be done faster lol

Yes, we have four chapters left of Fouled by Fate. Quite sad to see this story coming to an end because I love Aurélien and ZuZu but we’ll see them in the next series. Can’t wait to share the rest of the chapters.

director's commentary on "in between the lines"

in between the lines was supposed to be longer, like around 10 chapters but I scrapped the rest of the 5 because I didn’t want jules & senait’s story to go down that route. i originally had a pregnancy trope going on but i hated it, so it never happened, but here is an outtake. this happens in part 3 and in this version, senait didn’t quit her job; she just ghosts jules again due to work and feeling guilty:

The test sat on her bathroom counter, two pink lines mocking her. Senait stared at it, then at the other two she'd taken just to be sure. All positive.

Her period was three weeks late – she'd blamed stress, work, avoiding Jules' calls after missing El Clásico. Anything but the obvious.

Fuck.

She slid down to sit on her bathroom floor, head between her knees. The morning sickness made sense now. So did the exhaustion she'd blamed on overtime at work.

Pregnant. With Jules' baby.

She couldn't hide from him anymore. Couldn't keep ignoring his calls, his texts asking what he'd done wrong, why she'd disappeared. Couldn't pretend their night together before she left Barcelona hadn't meant something.

Her hand drifted to her still-flat stomach. A baby. Their baby. Everything was about to change, whether she was ready or not.

Her phone buzzed – another missed call from Jules. The guilt twisted in her gut. He deserved to know, deserved more than radio silence and unanswered messages.

With trembling fingers, she typed: Need to talk. Booking a flight to Barcelona.

His response was immediate: Finally. When?

Tomorrow. I'll send details.

She booked the flight before she could change her mind. First class – a splurge her PR salary could barely handle, but the thought of economy with morning sickness was unbearable.

As she packed, her mind raced. How would Jules react? They weren't even properly together – just complicated, just messy feelings she'd been running from. Now there'd be a baby involved.

Her phone lit up with another text from him: I'll pick you up from the airport.

Simple. Direct. So Jules.

Senait touched her stomach again. Inside her, a tiny life grew – half her, half Jules. Already loved, even if the timing was terrifying.

Maybe some things were meant to happen, even if they weren't planned. Even if they scared you half to death.

Tomorrow she'd face Jules. Face their future. Face everything she'd been running from.

For now, she had a flight to catch and a life-changing conversation to prepare for.

Be there around noon, she texted back.

Can't wait to see you, chérie.

Neither could she. God help her, neither could she.
