(And, now I looked at the rendering of the backstory so far. Maybe that'll be the answer for how the adapted scenes will work, and maybe even how things here will work. (And I imagine you might have a way of taking specific frames if that's something the news would do, editing tools exist after all. So if I start too early or end too late, or certain parts in the middle wouldn't make the cut, that can be simulated. If you think the news would show Flowey instead of being from his POV, then maybe we can swap between parts of my scene and what you had made with Flowey to simulate that, with the power of editing!

(With that being said, by convincing Monika to join the club (as the first scene), are you referring to what happened in the void where Sayori and Flowey are both trying to get her to stick around near the end of Monika's time at the main blog, or did you have something else in mind when you said that? (I'll probably be doing one of the other scenes in the list in the meantime while I'm waiting for the response here. And saving the file so if it turns out something needed changing, I can do that)

(Yeah, I can edit in some Flowey parts! You can just make the news reels as normal (but with images) and then I can add in my Flowey sprite to your photo or just make a whole new image. You can always give advice in the post to [Add _____ scene with Flowey here] and then I’ll add replace the suggestion with the image during the editing process.

(My plan for the first bullet was indeed the branch between the main blog to this blog! I think having some visual recap of why Monika went back to her world in the first place would be useful, even if they only convinced her to go back for a short while so far.

I have a lot of thoughts about them. None are particularly structured, really...

Trust really fuckin fed us, y'all. One of the first posts on this blog is me talking all about how it illustrates the parallels between Monika and Sayori, subtle as it is about it. I think in many, many ways, they reflect one another's actions, and on an exceptionally deep level, they both understand what makes the other tick. As a consequence, they're both pretty astute when it comes to recognizing what the other needs, what problems they might be having, and a good way to help them through it. It's hard to put into words...they just get each other, y'know?

Despite that, there are some definite fundamental differences. I think the simplest way to explain it is that Monika has a constant preoccupation with being able to do something right the first time, to be able to do something perfect, while Sayori has long given up the thought that she could do anything without screwing something up, and is instead desperately focused on trying to do good enough. In that way, the both of them sort of cover the other's weaknesses.

In that sense, both of them struggle with the thought of measuring up to others' expectations, and feel this constant need to do better, coupled with this constant thought that they aren't enough. Inferiority complex is the keyword here. Both of them have some pretty clear struggles with their own self-worth...

And the benefit of having each other is invaluable, for that reason. Particularly since the two of them understand each other's struggle, they're able to find the words the other needs to hear, and when they say it, it's more trustworthy because of that understanding.

Monika vents about an issue she's having, trying to find a way to really cope with it, and Sayori's answer immediately pierces straight to the core of the problem, identifying an insecurity which Monika didn't even realize she had. She's able to lay bare what Monika feels so she can actually grasp how to deal with it.

On the flip side, Sayori can hide it all she likes, but Monika's able to see clear through that facade, and identify where Sayori is struggling. She tends to a more subtle approach, simply quietly taking some of that burden, or providing whatever affection, praise, or encouragement she thinks she needs. Without even realizing it, Sayori's feeling better already.

They've got each others' backs, through thick and thin. If Monika's lagging behind, Sayori gives her a gentle push in the right direction. If Sayori needs someone to tell her everything's going to be okay, Monika's right beside her not only telling her that, but elaborating on how things couldn't possibly be that bad, because they have each other.

To get away from more general analysis kind of stuff, I think the two of them would just naturally tend towards a very close relationship. They'd grow reliant on each other without even realizing it, each using the other for needed buffer in any social situation, and relying on each other for support in all areas.

Monika would feel incredibly awkward trying to engage in anything romantic with anyone, but I think her relationship with Sayori being so close would just feel incredibly natural, no matter how it ended up progressing. That doesn't mean that transitioning to romance wouldn't feel awkward as hell still, nor that Monika would really feel confident doing anything (Sayori's taking that lead and she's driving the horse to the end of the line), but her relationship with Sayori would be so close naturally that it wouldn't actually change very much.

Neither of them would really be able to be honest about their feelings at first. And at this critical moment, neither of them would be able to clearly identify the feelings that the other had. Both of them would be way too anxious about the fact that the other might say no, and it could ruin their entire friendship, to say anything about it for the longest time. Neither of them can imagine a life without the other.

I think Sayori might be the one to crack first. I think she'd probably get to a point where she wouldn't be able to handle all the fluttery feelings in her chest when they were this close. She couldn't do anything but be honest about her feelings, no matter how anxious it made her feel.

Monika would be taken aback but obviously reciprocate. Now unsure how to even proceed. I think Monika would be the first to say I love you tho

This might be one of the roughest parts of the base game to really deal with when you think about it for an extended period. I don't want to think about it for an extended period right now so I'm not gonna elaborate (already thinking of enough angst with other fic concepts).

(Howdy! So, a lot has happened, most notably Tumblr deciding submissions ALSO can't be done without an account. Took me a while to work something out, that's why I haven't shown up here OR on the main blog for a while. The name I picked is based off of what COULD be a future blog of mine, but if it starts, it's won't be canon to this. Think about how the-white-soul has a blog of its own where your Flowey shows up, and they show up on yours, but your blog and theirs are two separate continuities.)

(If it does happen, think directly after the end of the game, but Sayori decides to make a blog as another attempt to reach out to the player, or really anyone real, so that changes the events and the backstory doesn't happen in that blog (Though good chance that Sayori still convinces Monika to bring the club back, hence the name of the blog. I made the name vague though so it still works if that doesn't happen, where the blog itself is the new beginning, or life without the club. (Very good chance the blog won't even start, and it definitely won't start SOON, there's this stuff first, but... at least I can submit again, so Monikanon is finally back! (Well, I guess I'm not "Monikanon" anymore since I'm not an anon. Does mean I may send asks to the main blog sometime though, and that'll probably be what I do instead of submitting on the main blog whenever the ask is short enough, once I work out how to do that.))

(Well, good that we have a file solution for my images I'll start the scenes you listed I imagine asks probably have the same problem as submissions with multiple images though. The news anchor thing might just be me sending you a link to one big image where I insert text into the imagine to simulate the anchor report or something. Or maybe I'll do the first half, and you can be the one to "show the footage", like we did with that Flowey fashion show. (It'd also mean I could make the scene, and you could pick out the parts OF the scene that looks most likely for the "news" to use as a hook)

(And... I said a lot, and that's only my response to the first post! I'll get to my response of the others soon enough, but based on what we described, I won't be progressing this blog (that is, working out Monika's response to the newest post) while we're working this out. Until we start getting asks, or I finish these scenes, I plan on focusing on these boosts. Which should also give you a bit of a break. As for the future of submissions after this, I'll see if I can try using images for those as well. Who knows, I might end up making a side blog specifically for the purpose of reblogs to use for this lol)

(Now I'll make my response to the other new posts, though not in-character ones, for the reasons outlined here. THEN I'll actually start on adapting the scenes. After THAT is when I'll try progressing things again and see if we can make that work. If it does, great, if not, we'll wrap things up we described, then I'll work on what Monika did during the time afterwards during the main blog so things are consistent when she returns to the main blog (while I continue the backstory stuff and give updates on that here.) -Monikanon (know what, since I can anon in the main blog, I'm still calling myself Monikanon)

(I think your new blog trope does sound cool, if you end up starting it. Sayori would definitely meet some players, but maybe not Ivan… hopefully over time she gets over him, although I know she’s quite the stubborn one.

(The news reel is a fun format for the recap! Good idea. I’ll try to make art for it when it’s ready. Also a warning- long images come out blurry in tumblr, but putting in individual images one by one won’t fit into the tumblr limit, which we already knew. So the best thing to do is to split panels into 4-5 text boxes at a time. Whatever works best so the image is not super long yet also not making too many images.

(Also I just like Monikanon so mma keep calling you that :) That works with me!
