Dusty is less active as a soul rider than he probably should be, and largely interacts more as a senior druid, similarly to his primary mentor, Evergrey. He's largely independently experienced with his abilities in each of the soul circles and is just as likely to save the day with them as he is to solve minor inconveniences, even if Avalon disapproves. He doesn't largely respect the authority, but trusts that they know what they're doing for the most part and consequently humors their authority until it crosses him.

🐴 [HORSE] -> Since Jorvik is the 'Island of Horses', does your Original Character own/ride a horse? Do they even know how to ride, or could they not care less about horses? If they own a horse, what breed and name?

Dusty owns and rides multiple horses- he owns the abandoned Dews farm over in Epona, and has put work and effort into restoring it and making it a home. He's a fairly expert horseman and, while not really engaged in any disciplines, has trained a few of his horses in the more useful ones- carriage, dressage, equitation.

Dusty's primary horse and soul steed is Gigawizard, his seal shire. He also owns Ecto and Uno, a pair of paint and leopard [respectively] mustangs. As well, there is Nyeuk, an icelandic, Mousey, an AQH, Tuxedopunk, a percheron, among others he boards or is leasing-to-own. He's also bonded with one of the magical horses of the island, Pepita.

john who has never been near a horse, let alone on top of one, dating gale who grew up on a ranch, his family says he could ride a horse before he could walk. bucky manages to find excuses not to go near the animals on the ranch until gale gets him cornered, no excuses no where to go but into the saddle.

gale’s heart soars in his chest when he finally gets john up on his childhood horse, his bay american quarter horse mare that was born on the ranch when he was a boy. she’s on the tall side for an aqh, but still thick and stocky with muscle almost like bucky he had named her baby on the very day she was born because “daddy, she’s just a baby, so that’s what’ll call ‘er.” the first horse he ever broke, baby has always been levelheaded and easy to work with, sweet and gentle with him as a boy. that’s why he trusts her now, he knows baby will take good care of his john

john is blushing as he looks down at gale with a nervous gaze “you sure about this?” he asks as he grips the reigns, still trying to find a way out of this. gale throws him a soft smirk as he brings his foot up to his stirrup, grabbing the horn of the saddle along with his reigns so he doesn’t lose them.

“have i managed to find the one thing the you aren’t blindly overconfident you can do?” he pushes and lifts himself up into the saddle, other foot sliding into place in the stirrup. his palomino thoroughbred mare, blondie, shakes out her mane as he settles. “i never thought i’d see the day.” he tease john with a full grin and sees the moment all of john’s anxiety melts into pure determination to prove gale wrong. gale feels giddy with the prospect of how this ride will go

Hello! You may want to take this with a little salt as I’ve actually never bought star rider, and I can only race in Moorland. Still, I hold first place scores on many Moorland races, although some get covered due to hackers with impossible scores.

It’s going to be a fairly long post, so I’ll be putting it under a cut :) In short: Doesn’t matter for champs if you’re skilled, matters a lot for highscores. I’d suggest you just buy whatever horse you like the look of

Racing differs a lot between highscores and championships. This just because in highscores, a fraction of a second could be the difference between first place and third, while in championships you’ll often have differences of multiple seconds. Championships don’t have as much consistency compared to highscores, so there’s much more room for error - you can hit a jump or bump into something, and still win. In general, skill is what matters the most. A good shortcut can give you a better time than a faster horse, so mixing the two is important. In championships, the breed of the horse doesn’t matter too much, because slight differences in how you do the race will change your score a lot more than horses. I’ve seen a level 19 on a level 2 horse beat a level 20 on a level 15 horse, and both were happy horses.

Championships: For stats in championships, I’ve found that swiftness is really the only necessary stat; the 17 agility and discipline you get from a level 15 horse and extra from normal tack are enough. I have a racing set that gives me 6 more discipline than my normal set, and there was no visible difference in scores, even after taking the average of 20-30 races for each set. However, it’s still good to get them anyway if you’re struggling; for the majority of races, discipline > agility as it has a more direct effect on races, and races with sharp turns are actually better with high discipline as you’ll be changing gaits constantly to make turns. You’ll want to reduce strength as much as possible as higher strength results in a longer, higher jump - jumping slows you down, so you want your jump to be as short as possible. Most bridles will give you 3 strength, but certain ones will have agility or discipline instead. The western halters will often have 2 agility, and you get a free “Shiny bridle” as a quest reward from Goldenhills which has 2 discipline.

Highscores: The animations of a horse will affect your scores more than its breed bonus, so some racers may use a specific horse for specific races. The well known example is the Pintabian, but the G3 Chincoteague/Jorvik Starter Ponies are actually better than the Pintabian in specific races. Some horses have faster turning animations or jumping animations, and you’ll want to use these for highscore races. Stats will matter a lot more in highscores, and you’ll want to go for the same stats as usual, although agility will matter more than in championships. 

I’m pretty sure if I write more I’ll start to go off topic, so my personal opinion: Just go for whatever horse you like! Practice shortcuts and just keep practicing, skill matters most. First place highscores aren’t always an option in busy servers, but you can still do well in the occasional championship with the help of some good shortcuts. :)

i thought it doesn't matter which horse you pick for racing so long it's trained+good equipment etc (besides the old arabian), but i noticed different horse breeds got different stats.

(like some horses' starter stats is agility 3, some dont have agility but got strength 3 etc. at least that's what it says when you go to buy them)

so i'm a bit confused. should i get for racing a horse with fitting stats? or does it actually not matter? if it doesn't matter i'd love to know why ;-;

this is my intro post here. :D I thoguht I'd say a few wrods about me as an introduction as I've just started this blog now.

I've been playing SSO since 2019 October, I'm on the Coconut Mountain server, currently level 21. I'm an adult player (close to 30) and currently came out (mostly to myself) as a lesbian. Oh, and I'm a huge Sabine fan. :D

Actually my main OC's name is Saki Moonbird, but I created a second OC who I like to discover more in the future and post about here on this blog.

The name of my second OC is Saga Pinehill. According to the main story I've been creating about her, she carries a really strong magic in her what's connected to both the Soul Riders' and Dark Riders' energies. She's Water Element and attracted to Sabine who got the duty of teaching Saga. Her attraction is like, she looks up to Sabine for her determined and strong personality. Saga wants to be as brave as her, and when she feels scared she looks for Sabine's company for protection. She has amnesia, nobody knows how she ended up on Jorvik or where she came from. As for her age, she's in her late 20's. Oh, and her horse, it's a palomino AQH gelding named Nimbus. :D
