You know, based on the timeframe of when the golden age of pirates took place, and the way that people often depict his clothing, England was likely colonizing America while still being a pirate. And I find that hilarious, the idea of him trying to be a kind mentor and instill good values into America, whilst also leaving for years on end to go terrorize everyone else.
