I do still have slots open! As for the prompt, I would like a basic idea of what you want the fic to be about so I know what to write. For example: "Character A and Character B meet up during their leave and have a fun night at 79's catching up."

I think the longest I've been in a fandom is a couple of years? I was in the Batfam fandom for a few years and then switched to Clone Wars over a year ago now

One of my personal headcanons is that Wooley is a fantastic singer and storyteller. he likes to go into the medbay after battles and keep the clones there entertained while they recover. His dream for after the war is to compile all of the different folk stories he's heard over the years into a book. he also wants to write his own story, too.

Ooo both excellent characters! I'm gonna do Hardcase though, since I mainly headcanon Dogma as aro/ace

Notp: Hardcase/Krell I guess. I don't have a lot of notps in general

Notp: I haven't really thought about a notp for Droidbait before, but if I were to give an answer, I'd probably say Droidbait/trainer. Because those trainers are absolute assholes and I don't want that for Droidbait

Brotp: Hmm, I really like the idea of Echo and Droidbait being close in Domino. Both kind of made fun of when they're younger, and so they stick together.

OTP: Droidbait and Fordo, definitely. I love that pairing so much and I had so much writing a fic for them! Just, Fordo slowly falling in love with Droidbait and pining for him during the war, only for Droidbait to end up making the move that shifts them from friendship to something more. It just makes me really soft, okay?

2nd choice: I do like Droidbait/Cutup, but I think my second choice would be Droidbait/Tup. They'd be really cute together. Or Droidbait/Appo

Fluffy pairing: does this have to be different from otp? because if not definitely Fordo/Droidbait with a healthy dose of pining thrown in

Angsty pairing: canon Droidbait/Cutup. Because Droidbait dies and then Cutup follows him soon after in like the worst way possible.

Favorite Poly ship: Droidbait/Cutup/Tup would be really cute.

Weirdest pairing: uhhh, I don't think I have any really weird pairings unless you count a CT with an alpha class clone.

Hi! About your answer for D. May I ask, what upset you the most in how fandom and canon portrait the Bad Batch?

This is a good question!

Canon is easier to answer so I’ll do that one first. I’ll put it under a read more so it’s not a super long post.

THESE ARE MY OWN PERSONAL OPINIONS AND ARE IN NO WAY AN ATTACK ON PEOPLE THAT ENJOY TBB AND THE CHARACTERS!! PLEASE ENJOY YOUR IDEAS, HEADCANONS, AND STORIES ABOUT THEM. I RESPECT THAT. PLEASE RESPECT THAT I AM ALLOWED TO HAVE MY OWN OPINIONS TOO.

I’ve always enjoyed shows and movies and books for the characters. To me, plots are secondary to the characters; you can have the most interesting plot in the world but without interesting characters, it would be boring to me. I started watching TBB with high hopes. I generally liked the characters and I was interested to see where the show would take them. (Though I do admit that part of the reason I started the show was because of Echo—he was my hyper fixation at the time.)

Every member of the original Bad Batch is a stereotype of a typical American action movie which I find incredibly boring. The mysterious and badass Hunter/tracker/leader. The snarky and rude sniper who distances himself from others. The muscle who is purely there to show off or be dumb (I hate this one the most). And the annoying nerd who forgets that others aren’t as smart as him.

Now, I recognize that there are a lot of people out there who really like the Bad Batch and the representation they’re given. Hell, a lot of the time I am a lot like Tech: I info dump and show off my knowledge all the time. I used to get called a know-it-all in a derogatory way until I decided to embrace it. It still hurts to get called that though. Anyway, I’m getting off topic. The point is, I’ve seen a lot of posts about how people identify with the Bad Batch, especially Tech. And that’s not my issue with the show and the characters.

My main issue is the development of the characters. Specifically that there was none. None of them changed at all throughout the entirety of the season. We should have seen some development and growth, especially from Echo, but he was barely in the show at all. I wanted to see the Batch worry about Crosshair or try to go and get him back, but he’s almost never mentioned unless he’s actively hunting them in that episode. And then it’s to get away from him. The Batch was hyped up to be this super close knit batch who care about each other above everyone else, including other clones, and yet it seemed like they barely tolerated each other in the show.

Another thing that I struggle with is how the introduction of the Bad Batch takes away one of my favorite themes and lessons in the Clone Wars show. I love that the clones show that you don’t have to be different to be important. You don’t have to have special powers or look different in order to be special. We love the clones. Look at Echo and Fives! They’re fan favorites for good reason. They’re fun characters and yet, besides Fives’s tattoo and goatee, they’re exactly like all the other clones. For someone who has never stood out once in their life, it was incredibly validating for me to see a show where you don’t have to be different to be of worth. The Bad Batch took that away from me. They’re different and because they’re different they’re special, unlike the “regs”. They degrade the other clones and then in the Bad Batch show, the other clones bully them. It never felt right to me, more like the writers were trying to make the Batch out to be pathetic and alone, make others sympathize with them, despite seeing them act the exact same way during TCW. Not to mention, I personally struggle with portrayals of bullying of any kind.

Not to mention all of the blatant whitewashing, ableism, and just idiocy of the way the show was written.

Now on to fanon.

One of the biggest things that I have issues with is the same reason why Anakin apologists annoy me. I’ve found that the Bad Batch fan base tends to write the characters as always in the right. They never acknowledge the mistakes the Batch makes nor do they acknowledge how their actions might hurt someone else. Especially with Crosshair and Hunter. Both of those extremely popular characters made several mistakes in the show, but I rarely saw anyone hold them accountable before I stopped engaging with TBB content.

I also have a big issue with the way people treat Wrecker as though he were a child who doesn’t know anything. He’s incredibly smart. He has to be in order to create the exact kind of bombs he needs or to fire a projectile at something. That all involves complex math and chemistry. He is honestly my favorite of the original batch, but I hate how he’s always portrayed as dumb and childish. I know that maiseey recently got Wookiepedia to change their page on Wrecker and I’m glad about that, but it doesn’t change the way the show and the fan base treats Wrecker. He’s only there as the comedic relief in almost a side show kind of way. And I hate it so much.

I don’t know much about how fanon treats the rest of the batch beyond what I’ve already said. I only really engage with the cloneshipping part of the TCW fandom and I rage-quit TBB before the finale episodes. I don’t think I ever read fanfiction beyond a select few authors who I am friends with. I might not have all of the facts and the fandom might have changed a lot since I last poked at it. If the show was halfway decent (I’m my opinion) I might delve into the fandom, but the show bores, annoys, and frustrates me, so it’s not worth it to me to join a fandom I’m not interested in.

In order to be fair, there are clones from TCW that I don’t like, no matter how much I want to, because of how they’re always portrayed in fandom and fanon. That’s why I took Wooley and made him my own.

J: Name a fandom you didn’t think about until you saw it all over Tumblr. (You don’t have to care about it or follow it; it just has to be something that Tumblr made you aware of.)

Okay, I had to really think about this one. Most of the time, I end up ignoring anything not related to my current hyperfixation, but if I think the fandom I might been made aware of via tumblr is either BBC Sherlock or . . . yeah probably Sherlock. I can't think of any others. Usually I find it via pinterest (though not as much anymore) or I get attached to a show and then come onto tumblr to find posts about my hyperfixation rather than the other way around.

I'm somewhat familiar with the fact that there's a pretty big Transformers fandom out there, but I literally know nothing about it at all.

D: A pairing you wished you liked, but you just can't.

Oof I've got a couple that I've really tried to like and they just don't click in my mind for some reason. Rex/Tup is a tricky one for me, mainly because of how most people write it. Any Bad Batch ship. I've tried to like them, but I really dislike how most of the fandom portrays them, and especially canon. It makes me upset and then I end up just not interacting with any TBB content at all.

T: Do you have hard and fast headcanons that you would die defending?

I've got a few yes XD. Mainly about Wooley (surprise surprise). I adore the headcanon that he is a fantastic storyteller and I will continue to spread that headcanon until it's accepted as fanon lol. I also definitely believe that Wooley should be an ARC trooper. Period. Beyond those, I don't think there are any that I would die defending. Maybe get into a fight about though Xb

V: Which character do you relate to most?

Hmm, that's an excellent question. Interestingly enough, I think I would relate to Dogma the most. That's why I can't consume a lot of fanon content out there because it hits a little too close to home for me. I'm extremely trusting and tend to be more of a passive follower. It's something I've been working on, and I used to be a very strict rule-follower--not so much anymore, but still to the point where breaking rules can cause anxiety. Seeing Dogma as always portrayed as the villain or the victim just doesn't sit well with me personally. That's why I latched onto Echo, because he and Dogma are very similar in personality in the show, but Echo is who I'm striving to be, and I see him treated a lot better in fanon than Dogma.

M: Name a character you'd like to have for a friend.

Definitely Commander Cody, I think. He's just very solid and dependable, plus I'm sure he has a fantastic dry and wicked sense of humor. He'd be a fantastic friend in general.

R: Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

Oh jeez this is hard. I love Rex with Echo and Fives. I ship them as a romantic/sexual relationship, but I also love them as good friends. There's just something about how Rex interacts with the Domino Twins that is just fun. Beyond them, I think I'd say the friendship between Mace and Ponds is my favorite. (No, Ponds doesn't die. I don't know what you're talking about. He's safe and sassing Mace and trading puns back and forth.) Or Ahsoka and the clones in general. They're fantastic

Congratulations on the end of finals! I hope you get to do something lovely to celebrate!

One AU that I'm thinking I'll start working on next is a big sprawling epic that involves Rex and Cody going back in time and fixing things, but also most of the story is about them now being Force Sensitive and (since they've been de-aged in the process) getting a second chance to grow up, this time in the Jedi Temple.

Another story that might be interesting to write (if I can figure out how to make it enough not an angsty spite fic that I don't depress myself too badly writing it!) would be the absolute beginning of the war where the clones keep expecting the Jedi to be as awful to them as the Kaminoans and trainers were, and there's some massive culture shock on both sides (e.g. Obi-Wan appalled that Cody wants to have ARC Rex killed for letting Padawan Anakin get injured because he was being stupid on a mission, not realizing Cody thinks this is the kindest of the possible inevitable punishments). If I do ever write it I'll probably stick with that much, but for extra angst have Jango survive (seriously, Sidious didn't see any risk in the template for the Jedi's army turning around and immediately fighting against the Jedi?). He's a consultant for the GAR, and the Jedi figure he's the expert on the clones. But since he was pretty awful to the clones that just makes it harder for them to trust the Jedi, and the Jedi don't realize as fast how inhumane Jango's suggestions for the GAR are. Plus, this could lead to some interesting contrasts on issues like romance (Jango having a completely one-sided rivalry with Cody for Obi-Wan's affections while Cody just wants to focus on the war and Obi-Wan is slowly realizing Jango's actually a pretty awful person? Well, save for the part where I'm aroace and don't think I could actually write a believable romance to save my life) and military professionalism without having the Jedi as bad guys.

I LOVE time travel fix-its so much!! Add force-sensitive Rex and Cody into the mix and growing up in the Temple and it is just *chef kiss*

Oooof yeah the second idea would be incredibly angsty. If you can manage it without depressing yourself, then I say go for it--I just wouldn't be able to write something like that ^^''

But it would be really interesting to see how different it would be if the clones and the Jedi had that disconnect and how the clones wouldn't trust the Jedi. Also, don't worry, romances are very difficult to write for most people (I say even as I am ace and maybe aro). It's so hard to keep it from being too sappy or unrealistic.

I'm finally making more progress on my Kalluzeb WIP again. I've felt rather stuck and unmotivated for a few weeks because I had to make myself research and reference canon events when I really just wanted to get back to the steamy stuff. :') But I'm having a lot more fun again now!

Kalluzeb! They're such a fun enemies-to-lovers pairing and while I haven't read a whole bunch of fics with them, I've really really enjoyed the art I've seen.

Congratulations on finishing your finals!!! A Soft Wars story i have eventual designs for is: Post-OVD, while Rex is offworld one day, Bacara of Nova adopts a stray puppy he finds while walking home from the docks. Nova Clan Shenanigans ensue. By the time Rex returns home to CD, the puppy has already claimed a favorite spot on the couch, the porch swing, AND the bed. It also has at least three formal godparents (Neyo, Krestor, and Bossi amongst them).

oh my gosh I'd adore reading a fic about Bacara adopting a puppy. I loved the fic with him interacting with NNT and I love every time someone writes him interacting with kids. He'd absolutely dote on that puppy. "I'm sorry Rex, your side of the bed has been taken, but I guess you can share my side of the bed with me"

also, I love the idea of Keller and maybe a few other Marines deciding that the puppy should be trained as a service animal for Bacara or at least an emotional support animal. He'd deserve that.
