Personalized music headcanons (Currently accepting)

💜 I know this is pretty cliche for Eusine’s character, but giving up his dream of catching Suicune was a high point for him. Eusine’s a simple man: he sees a Suicune, he chases after it for ten years ._.; So for that to be thrown away and replaced with spending time with Morty’s family, including his former adopted daughter...It made him realize the more important things in life. Sure, now Gen & Eusine aren’t so close anymore, and you could argue his dependence on Matsumoto is quite unhealthy, but it sure beats spending the rest of your life alone chasing a Legendary, doesn’t it? You could say Eusine was doing some soul searching (haha get it cuz SoulSilver) when he was pursuing Suicune, and when Gen failed to capture it, that’s when he found what he was looking for: family and friendship...In Matsumoto, at least. (Plus I really like this rendition of Suicune’s theme...which was probably the real excuse for choosing this song ._.;)

💛 I’ve briefly mentioned before that when Matsumoto was a teen, he was raised in a foster home run by Agatha. I think this summarizes his relationship with Agatha pretty well cuz I’m RWBY trash Agatha was extremely strict on him. She treated him like a cursed child, strictly monitoring him and punishing him with her Ghost Pokemon if he stepped out of line. Even when he moved out and bought his own home in Ecruteak, she still harassed him, sending her Pokemon out of nowhere to harm him or his own Pokemon if he did something that didn’t meet her standards (like letting Gen do something stupid/allowing Gen to get in trouble…). Eventually, he stood up to her and defeated her in a match. It was a pretty close battle, but with the help of Eusine & Gen, she never bothered him or his family again.

💎 I’m not sure why, but I associate this song with both Steven and Stephanie. Being a reality warper is a heavy issue, no doubt, and sometimes...the only closest person Steven can talk to is himself. Deep down, he does wish for a world like Stephanie’s, where he can have all his friends (either in the Pokemon world or worlds beyond it, i.e. the Sonic world) safe and sound and living in harmony, but he also knows that this is isn’t ideal (and that Stephanie’s world are all imperfect clones who were created by her and thus, programmed to like her). Plus, when he tried to achieve this goal in the past...he ended up hurting those he cared about by putting his needs over his own. In the end, the world of his dreams will remain a dream...

//Interesting how the question says “what” instead of “who”. During these short ramblings (under the cut), I noticed I kept saying similar answers for a majority of my muses, so TL; DR version:

💜 Eusine is most devoted to his friends and loyalty towards them.

💛 Morty is most devoted to security and his reputation

💎 Steven is most devoted to loyalty and the people who understand him.

🐦 Winona is most devoted to freedom and altruism/helping others.

💙 Gen/Wolf Grunt is most devoted to freedom/being an individual.

💚 N is most devoted to self-worth and perfection.

❤️ AZ is most devoted to the mysteries of life and guiding others through it if need be.

💔 Lysandre is most devoted to his crippling depression.

🖤 Guzma is most devoted to Team Skull, their loyalty, and the selfish ambitions that created it.

//💜 Eusine is probably the most loyal out of every muse I’ve got, so I imagine his devotion to his friends stems from that. Loyalty and trust is needed for friendship after all, as evident on his dependency on his best friend (COUGH COUGH Morty COUGH). This could be interpreted as blind optimism or “seeing the good in everyone”, but Eusine likes to consider everyone his friend. I’m not sure where this quote came from (RWBY I think?), but it definitely sums up Eusine well: “Strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet.”

//💛 For Morty, probably…security. Be it financial, physical, mental, etc., I imagine Morty values his security in society over anything (or anyone else). While it may seem counterintuitive, kicking out his adopted daughter was the best option to secure his reputation. I guess reputation could be another thing he’s devoted to as well, but in the end? The best he’s got for a reputation is being the generic white-collar worker, a man more concerned with money and power than people…

//💎 Besides the obvious (COUGH COUGH stones COUGH)…Steven may be devoted to loyalty and security too. However, his view of security is quite different from Morty’s, since he already has more power and money than he wants and/or needs. For Steven, security comes from the people in his life who can understand and even accept his dark origin & powers. That’s not to say he can’t find security in those who can’t wrap his head around the magic, but even if he’ll never admit it, he does value friendship too (like Eusine).

//💙 Freedom. No question. The day Morty kicked them out may have been distressing at first, but it was also quite liberating. They definitely value being an individual, even if it may be disruptive or even destructive to others and society…No wonder Gen & Guzma get along ._.;

//🐦 Winona’s an interesting case…Like Gen, she’s mainly concerned with freedom, but like Morty, her image in society is just as important. I think she views herself as someone who drifts between the interest of herself and others, so matter what she’s up to, it’s a mental balancing act for her. It seems pretty selfish at first, but even some selfish people work for the good of others, if only to make themselves look & feel good. Yes, for Winona, selflessness and selfishness are two sides of the same coin that she keeps flipping everyday…

//💚 You know, I’m not sure if N values anything more than himself. Like Eusine & Steven, he does value loyalty, but his view of it is completely different. Anyone who isn’t loyal to him and his values is an enemy, which definitely makes it difficult to find friends. This could explain why the Dragon of Truth chose him as a hero, if only to guide him to the truth that hanging out with like-minded people isn’t healthy for him. It’s something he struggles with, no doubt, but his image means everything to him. In that respect, I guess he’s devoted to perfection too.

//❤️ With his eternal, internal conflict, the only thing AZ really can be certain of is the uncertainty of life, or a devotion to the unknown. It’s astonishing how much he has learned and still has to learn over three millennia, and for a man who knows over 20 languages and can play at least 10 instruments, it’s not too much of a stretch to say that AZ isn’t afraid of trying something new. Of course, that’s not to say he’s the daring devil who wants to try everything, but when the unexpected arrives, it’s his sworn duty to be prepared to charge at it with confidence and conviction.

//💔 You know, with the most depressing character I’ve ever written, you’d think he’d have nothing to devote himself too. And you’re right! Sad to say, but Lysandre is a true nihilist who is purposely devoted to making his own life miserable. He’s essentially AZ when Floette left him: He believes he is undeserving of any love and care from others, and he’ll devote the rest of his sad, sad life to remind himself that…Someone give this man a hug ._.

//🖤 Hm…Guzma’s devotion to others could arguably rival Eusine’s. Of course, in his case, fate and/or choice hasn’t been kind to him. The only reason he keeps Team Skull around now is to make him feel slightly better about himself…and he knows it. That’s why it was so easy for Lusamine to exploit him: Just give him sweet nothings of how loyal you’ll be to him, and he’s practically a doormat. His ambition could also be the problem of why he keeps Team Skull around as well. After all, he is “Big Bad Guzma”, and he’d rather die than give up the mess of a gang that he created…

//💜💛💎💙💚 I’m pretty sure over half of my muses get a panic attack/PTSD from this theme alone. I mean...how can you not freak out over the man who almost killed you & left you in a coma for at least 3 weeks? Granted, N is the only exception to this (since he escaped the castle before Ghetsis decided to self-destruct the darn thing...Ghetsis is a little crazy in my headcanon...), but it’s hard for N not to blame himself for the GEMS’ demise. Eusine & Morty actually stayed in the hospital for almost a month or so, so needless to say, the battle against Ghetsis took a huge toll on them the most.

//🐦 Reason No. 24 why Winona’s adopted brother is dead to her: Sonic 06. Granted, any Sonic 06 theme will do (as far as giving Winona horrible flashbacks), but Crisis actually plays a big part in the Stone family’s dark alien history, being one of the greatest resources for reality-warping magic. Of course, Winona wants nothing to do with the Stone family’s dark reality warping business practices, so she avoids Steven and any ties to Crisis at all costs.

//❤️ Thanks to the recent abomination that is Melmetal, AZ has one or two other Pokemon to worry about besides Arceus. He may or may not have created the Azure Flute as well. AZ was a messed up person during his kingly life. Truly, his creations are his burden ._.; As for why he created a “metal god” that can create metal from nothing and the key to finding Arceus, well...that’s a headcanon for another day :P

//💔 Lysandre has plenty of regrets for following in AZ’s footsteps, too. While he wishes Team Flare was dead, there all still a few dedicated grunts and admin who are determined to finding him and bringing Team Flare back. Like AZ, he can’t stop what he created. That’s why he tried to change his name and appearance. Just his own theme song is enough to give him flashbacks of the fire (i.e. the destruction of Geosenge) that should’ve killed him. (Also I’m using Natewantstobattle’s cover cuz I love Nate & I love this cover)

//🖤 Once in a blue moon, Guzma will hear this and/or this randomly, be it from a phone call or the tv that Grunt V always forgets to turn off (even though Grunt V swears he turned it off this time). He is the only one who can hear this, and unfortunately, this is enough to incur his rage. This is why some of the grunts are afraid of him. They believe he’s delusional, getting mad for no reason, and perhaps they may be right. Or perhaps...it’s his old soul reminding not to forget why he’s here.

“Well, gee. I uh...don’t remember much of my history, to be honest...”

He chuckles nervously, then sighs.

“Ok, I’ll admit. I was...pretty lonely, most of my life. I can’t believe I spent ten years finding something no one was meant to have. And the worst part is, the person-the people I gave up my dream for...well. Sometimes I miss the families I started out with instead of what they came to be...”

“...Uncle Oswald used to be so nice...so did Matsumoto...”

Matsumoto just...stares into the distance, folds his arms at Eusine.

“I know my place, Eusine. And my place is not with a rebellious daughter. The Enju clan have kicked their children out of their homes plenty of times before. That’s just how it is.”

He hesitates.

“That’s...what happened to my father...And yet, he still stuck with the clan and its rituals til his final hour...These psychic powers of mine were inherited by the clan, what a better thing to do than to follow in my father’s footsteps and obey the Enju clan’s law?”

He says defiantly, as if he’s hiding something else...

Steven is the most silent of all. In fact, it takes several minutes for him to speak.

“You’re trying to get me killed. Is that what you want? Hm? For me to spill the greatest secret of the cosmos that could tear the very fabric of reality apart by the mere mention of it?”

Steven is silent again. He seems...very tired. And very paranoid.

“I’ll admit, I’ve...stolen lives, before. But I’m done with that now, aren’t I? Who cares if I was an accomplice to the murder of an intergalactic prince, who wasn’t even the first in line to inherit the throne of his kingdom? Who cares if I made someone’s parents evil just for them to run away and be my sister? Who cares if...”

He stops. Then unleashes his sword.

“You heard nothing. Got that?”

//I know I’ve used this theme for Eusine before...somewhere...someplace...but that’s only because it perfectly describes where Eusine’s pride and joy is: in his family. After losing the most important people in his life (his parents), Eusine slowly developed to be a paternal influence for others, mainly Gen and Morty. The first is a no brainer (Gen’s adopted, but still considers Eusine an older brother), but as for Matsumoto, the two balance each other out: Morty is his voice of reason, whereas Eusine is his source of comfort and unconditional love. Eusine’s a simple man who loves everyone, so nothing brings him more pride than having a family he can call his own...even if it is a little broken...

Oh, who’s he fooling? This was meant to happen at some point. No matter how much he loved him and lavished him with love, the fact of the matter still remained: all things die. Love can’t save him from the inevitable. And that’s what wrecked him the most. Only now does he realize how empty their room is without him. He’d curl up on their bed, cradle his pillow, and just weep until either his eyes were dry or he fell asleep. Over and over, day after day, until he was too weak to even open his eyes.

There he was, twenty years ago, studying abroad with his mentor, picking up the peices that the deceased Professor Sycamore left for them. Now Mega Evolution has never been more accessible. But he could forget it all if it weren’t for his husband’s support. Yes, through thick and thin, his husband Morty was there to give him a pat on the back, or tuck him into bed after a late night project. This was the true highlight of his life. Even if he was the worst Professor on earth, nothing could compare to the love that they had for each other.
