Red like blood, blue like magic.

Week 1: Write a story featuring all the colors of the pride flag.

„Pink. You know that pink was originally on the flag but it was scrapped because fabric was epensive back then?”

Christian looked up from his book to see his boyfriend pointing at a pink piece of glass decorating the window.

„What in the world are you talking about, Mason? What flag?”

„Pride flag, of course! It’s June already! Oh, and here’s red. Pink symbolizes sexuality, it’s not on the modern one but who cares, pink is awesome. And the red signifies life. Pretty universal but I think it’s pretty hilariously on point for us even more so than everyone else. Well, you.”

„What, because vampires drink blood?” Christian raised an eyebrow at Mason’s pleased, smug smile.

„Exactly. Next we have orange. This kinda looks like orange? Or maybe it’s just rust seeping onto the glass but it looks orange so it’s cool. Orange is for healing.”

„Why are you even doing this?”

Mason ignored his question and continued examining the window. Here’s yellow. It’s kinda white-ish yellow but yello stands for sunlight too so whitish yellow works. Sun’s pretty bright.”

„Like you.”

„I will pretend I didn’t hear that. Green, right here. It means...”

„Let me guess! Nature.” Mason stuck his tongue out at him and Christian closed the book, now intrigued at where this was going.

„Next, we have blue. Originally there was a lighter blue too. The indigo means serenity and light blue... magic.”

Christian flicked some sparks at him in amusement.

„Not quite my color though. Blue would be more Lissa’s thing I guess.”

„Is spirit blue? Wouldn’t that be like, transparent?”

Christian shrugged.

„I have no idea. Water’s blue but all water users we know are assholes.”

Mason looked back at the stained glass window.

„Well, the last color is purple, right here, and it actually signifies spirit on the pride flag so we can say purple works for Lissa, and blue is not that contradictory for fire? I mean, the hottest flames burn blue, don’t they?”

He left the window and alone and joined Christian in the chair, plopping himself in his boyfriend’s lap.

„Kinda like you’re the hottest flame around.”

Christian lip quirked.

„Alright, Casanova. And what was the point of this queer history lesson?”

„Why, it’s pride month, of course!” He grinned. „I’m checking if there’s all the colors of the rainbow in the window so we can shine a huge light through it and make it into a blaster ray that will turn everyone gay!”

Christian couldn’t help it. He laughed, open and joyous, and shut Mason up with a kiss.

Well, that doesn't fit that ship in tonality at all and also I feel like this game is going to entirely expose me and my questionable music taste. RIP me...

OKAY OKAY OKAY. The core four are going out and getting drunk at a karaoke bar. While Lissa and Christian very much can hold their liquor (though Lissa gets sleepy), Rose and Mason get easily excitable.

The two of them compete-sing basically the entire catalogue.

While Rose sings romantic lovey dovey ballads to Lissa, Mason goes for as naughty and sexy as possible, including dancing.

Christian is equally embarrassed and turned on, because damn this man truly has made him believe in love and sex and magic--

Writer's Month Day 10: Dark AU

Strigoi. Bloodthirsty beasts who gave their souls up for immortality, mingled with dirty humans and tried to bring the downfall of the Moroi world.

Mason's whole mission in this world, as a Dhampir, was to protect their world from Strigoi's murderous viciousness and protect the fair and just Moroi.

Except his charge, Mia Rinaldi, was anything but fair and just and looking around himself, he started to notice more and more holes being poked in his reality.

The Moroi were not good. The Dhampirs were not honoured but used as glorified bodyguards who easily turned expendable.

And now Mason could see. With Rose and Lisa gone, his doubts turned into certainty.

And then there was Christian Ozera.

Everyone spoke of the Ozeras as a cautionary tale. The mighty and noble family gone crazy, and the son who followed them only a few years after starting the Academy.

Christian Ozera. Chris.

The Ozeras weren't vicious. They were not murderous. They saw the truth and took the chance to free themselves of the horrible society and gain power in the process as a bonus. They didn't fall into the darkness. They stepped into the light, and Christian's withdrawn and snarky but ultimately gentle and loving nature was proof enough for Christian.

He nuzzled his cheek, their lips meeting and he sighed happily as he felt Christian's fangs pinch his lip, the blood flowing.

His life wasn't ending, it was starting.

His soul wasn't gone. It was free.

Oh, this one is Christian.

And Christian doesn't do the reminding himself. Christian is just such a ball of self-doubt and years of issues that Mason has to wake him up everyday with a reminder he loves him and Christian is a worthy, lovable person.

OKAY SO. Necessity is the mother of invention, or something like that. xD

I watched this movie because Dom is in it. I latched onto Dom's character very quickly - though by the time he made his on-screen debut, I was already convinced of Rose/Lissa soulmates. And. I wanted Christian to get a ship too.

There... aren't too many characters in the movie. Mason was nice, funny, he was a good friend to Rose and is also played by an actor I like so I figured he'd make a good boyfriend for Christian.

And then @kimmycup and I started spinning things, the more we came up with the more attached I grew because hey actually we really made Mason and Christian work despite them kind of not actually interacting in movie canon.

But Mason's caring and sweet side worked perfect considering the trauma Christian's been through. The two are a really good fit!

17: tugging on the bottom of someone’s shirt

Rose and Mason were studying late. Or rather, Mason was trying to study. Rose spent most of her time complaining that what they were studying here was completely unnecessary and a waste of time. Sighing, Mason got up to get them both fresh energy drinks – they already had a gathering of empty cans at their feet. He went to the fridge and got two nice, cold canes, but he didn't make it back to Rose, because on his way he passed the couch on which his boyfriend was sleeping. Not that he had noticed that; he'd thought Christian had gone to bed hours ago. Instead, it seemed that his Moroi had fallen asleep on the couch. Now, however, he was reaching out to grab the bottom of Mason's shirt in passing and hold onto it, stopping Mason from passing him.

“Hey there, babe, you should go to bed,” Mason's voice was soft and low.

Instead of answering, Christian simply tugged on his shirt again, tilting his head up to look at him. Those eyes. The pretty heterochromic eyes, all large, with his eyebrows drawn up. The perfect puppy pout. Seized his heart right away. Mason could not deny those eyes anything. Again, a tug. Grinning softly, Mason carefully made his way to sit next to Christian's head. The brunette looked very pleased by that, lifting his head up to rest it in Mason's lap, closing his eyes.

“Someone's cuddly,” teased Mason with a grin.

“Shut up,” Christian grumbled a little and buried his face in Mason's stomach.

Laughing, Mason reached out to run his fingers through soft, brown locks. The Moroi on his lap relaxed at that and slowly fell asleep again under the motion. Mason's eyes softened as he watched his boyfriend fall asleep. Having been isolated and alone for so long, Christian wasn't very good at asking for affection and he wasn't very used to it either. It took Mason a while to  make Christian rely on him for comfort like this. And though expressing his needs with words was still not something Christian liked doing, he had come to ask in different ways, like this.

“Mason? Where—Oh, of course did Prince Not-So-Charming steal you,” Rose rolled her eyes.

Mason narrowed his eyes at her, gently pulling his boyfriend closer. Christian snuggled closer to him, making a content, little sound. It melted Mason just a tiny bit.

“Urgh. Stop making heart-eyes at your boyfriend, it makes me want to barf.”

“Well, you're free to go back to your own room. It's late anyway. Call it a night,” suggested Mason.

Rose sighed and waved a hand. “Fine, fine. Got a Moroi of my own waiting for me.”

Once she was gone, Mason resigned himself to sleeping on the couch tonight, because there was no waking the sleeping, content prince on his lap. Like a cuddly puppy, completely undeniable.

WhenRose had returned to school with her princess girlfriend, Masonhadn't expected that to somehow to lead to Mason getting a boyfriend.But Lissa befriended recluse, grumpy and very gorgeous ChristianOzera and somehow, the four of them became friends and started tohang out, until Mason finally found the courage to ask Christian out.

Now,when doing so, Mason had been fully prepared that they would be avery private couple; after all Christian was a very private person.And Mason was absolutely going to respect that.

ChristianOzera was a very affectionate person... once he warmed up tosomeone.

That hadbeen an interesting thing to learn and Mason had been quite startledat first. Christian would casually lean into him, hold his hand, whenit was just the four of them, Christian would even cuddle up toMason, throw his legs over Mason's lap, rest his head on Mason'sshoulder.

Masonwas by no means complaining – he absolutely loved it. Heloved getting to cuddle Christian during movie nights with the girls,he loved how much Christian seemed to seek his affections. And hesupposed, it made sense. Christian had spent years isolating himselffrom others; ever since his parents had died. He had no family tospeak of, no friends. To put it simple, he was touch-starved andMason was more than happy to provide Christian with all thegentleness he had missed out on.

What washowever a real surprise was that Christian didn't seembothered by public displays of affection either – holding handswhen on the way to class, leaning against him and closing his eyesduring the more boring classes and even... kissing. In public.

Thefirst time that happened, Mason was left staring dazed at hisgorgeous boyfriend. Mason and Rose were on their way back fromtraining when they crossed paths with Christian, who seemed to be onhis way to his next magic class. When he spotted Mason, he smiled andderailed just enough to reach them, grab Mason by the jacket and pullhim down into a kiss. It was brief and chaste, just the cold softnessof Christian's lips against his. As quickly as they had come, theywere gone.

“Gottahurry. I'm already late. I'll see you later?”, asked Christian.

“Y...Yeah, Chris... bye, Chris”, nodded Mason slowly, looking dazed.

“Youknow, I didn't know that the 'P' in PDA actually stands for'Prince'... Princely Displays of Affection”, offered Rose with ateasing smirk, nudging Mason.

“Oh,shut up, Hathaway”, grumbled Mason, trying to cover his blush.“Unless you want retaliation the next time you play with Lissa'shair like a damn Disney princess...”

Mason'seyes though were on Christian's retreating form.

Wait, are you taking Halloween asks! How did I miss this, IT'S VAMPIRES TIME. (It was. Last month now, whatever.) You still wanna play and do Ashzera and Dragoway?

*laughs* Yeah that was like... the one (1) Halloween-ish thing I did in October. Reblog that ask game yesterday. xDDD

Which one is more fond of scary movies: Rooose. Rose makes them watch those as double-dates. Mason gets on board quickly and thinks they’re cool. Lissa clings onto Rose during them. Christian tries to tune them out and read a book... which is a major disappointment for Mason, who had HOPED for some clinginess. Alas, he has a very uncooperative boyfriend *shakes head*

Which one gets the most excited about Halloween: Mh, Mason and Rose probably, like both of them. Lissa is not too fond of the whole ball and party thing and Christian just straight-up hates it.

Which one would be more likely to survive the apocalypse: All four of them, but only together?

Which one would literally kill for the other: Oh, Rose and Mason totally can go and murder for their Moroi

Which one likes to scare or startle the other: Mason occasionally tries with Christian, but he just... is not spooked. Which, again, big disappointment

Which one is more likely to need comforting when they get spooked: Lissa, hiding out in Rose’s arms. Christian doesn’t really like comforting so he just straight up wouldn’t admit it, regardless of how eager Mason is to comfort.

Which one always puts on a brave face: Christian the most of them all, I think

Which one would be more dangerous if they suddenly became violent: I mean quite clearly the Avatar I mean Lissa. So much power

Which one would be more likely to commit a crime: Mason. Probably already did. A bunch.

Which one believes in ghosts: ...are ghosts real in this world? Either way, I’m sure Mason believes in them. Lissa maybe too, but not in the same way as Mason - Mason thinks of spooky haunting, Lissa thinks of the souls who linger because they have open business still

Which one likes to watch spooky show on television: Mason. Rose got him fixed on movies and then he spiraled down into TV show land. Christian suffers from it, the poor fire puppy...

Which one would propose the idea of holding a seance: Oh absolutely Mason. Christian and the other couple are just along for the ride, because who can deny Mason, really?

Which one has nightmares more often: Christian, about his parents. And Lissa... uh... also about her parents. Damn. Write a YA series with caring and living parents 2k20 challenge...

Which one would want to explore a real haunted house: Again Mason and he would easily get Rose on board even though she doesn’t believe in ghosts! From thereon out their respective partners stand no chance ;D

Summary: Mason Ashford was the quarterback and a really popular jock. Christian Ozera was the weird loner.

Christian Ozera was weird. That was what everyone said about him. Just because he was deeply religious, went to church every Sunday, kept to himself, preferred books to humans, spending most his time in the library, not having any friends and then there were the rumors about what was 'wrong' with him – because he was from a tiny, tiny Slavic country no one's ever heard of and had come to the US all alone. The truth was that Christian was a prince and had come here to broaden his horizon, had been excited for it. That changed when he encountered bullies and got pushed around for being who he was; for being weird. Now, Christian found himself homesick, he'd rather be back with his work-obsessed parents who never had a minute's time for him, than here.

"So, what is your big secret, pretty boy?", asked Mason Ashford.

Mason was a jock, the quarterback to be precise. He was friends with all of the other jocks, including the captain of the soccer team, Rose, with whom Christian regularly clashed. The jocks in general were a problem for Christian, though he had to admit Mason in particular had never bullied him before. So it was all the more frustrating to have Mason corner and mock him in his favorite spot, of all places. The large stained-glass window in the library.

"Leave me alone", grunted Christian irritated. "I don't need you mocking me."

"Woah there. Glare any harder and I drop dead on the spot", yelped Mason with a laugh, lifting his hands up in surrender. "Who's mocking you? I'm just trying to have a conversation."

"You. Ironically calling me 'pretty boy'. Americans are so strange", muttered Christian frustrated.

"...Oh", whispered Mason in realization. "Uhm. So straight asshole bullies may call you that mockingly, but I assure you I've been calling you a pretty boy because I'm very gay and you're very pretty and I've been trying to ask you out for a date, but if you thought I was just making fun of you, that totally explains why you've been avoiding me. Huh."

"You... what?", asked Christian surprised, expression easing a little. "I'm weird. Why would you..."

"You're not weird. You're just... extra-ordinary. Out of the ordinary. You're cute", shrugged Mason with a grin, tilting his head. "I've seen you at the games, you always come. I've seen the books you read and I think... we may have similar taste. I'd... like to go on a date with you, talk to you, get to know you. Also, and not to push, but: Dating the quarterback will make everyone immediately back off without me having to constantly give them shit for bullying you."

"You... did that?", asked Christian, now even more surprised, and blushed a little bit. "...Okay."

He didn't even know why he said okay, but then Mason offered him such a blinding smile.
