DAY 5982
Jalsa, Mumbai July 4/July 5, 2024 Thu/Fri 10:52 am
Birthday .. Ef Sweta Prasad .. July 5, 2024 .. all our good wishes and love ❤️
🪔 ,
July 05 .. birthday greetings to Ef Shashikant Pedwal from Pune .. and Rajat Watel from Jammu .. 🙏🏻❤️🚩
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
.. a 3rd viewing for me and twice for many that came on an invite .. the experience just keeps building .. every time you notice and admire the pains taken by the Director in putting this massive vision into fructification , and presenting it in a manner that makes the film historic .. historic not just in its commercial prospects, but historic in its values of the audacious mind of the Director in metamorphosing the legend of the Mahabharat with its manifestation after 6000 years , into the viewage of modern day humans that go to see the film TODAY in 2024 ..
2024 ... centuries away from 2898 ( in the title of the film) .. which has been calculated after references to the Puran and Ved to be the moment of the reincarnation of Krishna - the Avatar that shall be born at the ending of the Kalyug - when all the atrocities, lies and irregularities of the World to be exhausted and overcome ..
The brilliance of interpreting a mythological Epic - the Mahabharata, which comprises of over 1 lakh 40 thousand verses , the largest epic ever in the history - and bringing it to modern day - well modern meaning 2898 AD - and to embellish it with the subtle nuances, which govern the past with what is to happen after the Mahabharata is over - the war between the Kauravas and the Pandav armies that lasted 18 days ..
SO WHAT NEXT .. WHAT HAPPENED AFTER IT WAS OVER ..
does life remain in its stagnancy or there is more ..
WELL FIND OUT BY SEEING KALKI .. and revel in its vast and massive presentation .. and to live till the FINALITY of its story-telling in the wait of the Part 2 ..
SO .. had a wonderful chat with Nag Ashwin for the camera and it should be out soon hopefully as a Podcast or on the TV channels , soon ..
Yes the film is a massive spectacle .. but it is also a learning .. a learning of the merger of myth and reality .. and a learning to the film makers on the process of putting this mammoth together for a viewing audience ..
It is humbling and perhaps not in my league to speak of a project which has been involved with me also , but at times it does become unavoidable .. such be its magnification in its discuss ...
The chat, or as some prominent journalists have titled previous effort with me and the cast of the film as the Kalki Chronicles , could well be titled the Kalki Director Chronicles ..
And I do wish that the Production be swift in putting it out as a PodCast , for it to be viewed and heard by several more ..
I retire now as the night was long and the morning early .. but shall slumber in the essence of Kalki , irrespective of the yay's and nay's of the World for it ..
My love 😍

bull run review hot off the press!
okay, so, it was a lot of fun. i'm not really sure how to get into this but it is definitely a finance movie. there was a lot of business jargon that took some getting used to, but it was also pretty fast paced so it all just sort of glossed over really needing to know what they were talking about. (and as the director/writer said after the film, it really isn't necessary to understand the technicalities).
the next big thing i need to mention is the editing. holy sound effects batman! there's a lot of cutting to stock-esce footage and sound effect over sound effect and sometimes absurd editing and cutting. but besides being a little jarred in the beginning not knowing what i was getting into i think it really worked for what they were trying to show here.
i just can't tell you how wonderful it is to see tom on a giant screen again, i missed this. having tom talk to you for an hour and a half was glorious! gah his voice ☺️🥰 it was very ferris bueller-esce in that way. also he says fuck quite a bit in this film and that was a wonderful treat haha
but it wasn't just bobby (tom's character) who i liked, i grew to really generally enjoy the other characters in the movie. tom has a lot of funny moments of like jim from the office looks to the camera or through his 4th wall breaking, but there are also some really funny moments from all the characters
side note: my fav side character was farouk played by ashwin gore. so keep an eye out for him, he was hilarious. (also the actor showed up to the screening in-character and it was genuinely one of the funniest things ever. he did a song where he mentioned "where is tom blyth" and the little audience waved flashlights.)
anyways, i think there's also a lot of good fic potential for this character, i really want to explore MORE with him. especially since this was more of a fast paced comedy and not like a character exploratory piece
OH ALSO, i really wish they had kept the og title "discussion materials" especially bc it is mentioned in the film several times and i think it would've been a neater bow than bull run.
(sorry this was so long lol)
DONT APOLOGIZE FOR IT BEING LONG I APPRECIATE THIS SO DAMN MUCH YOURE AN ANGEL AND I HOPE YOU HAD THE BEST TIME
yeah it seemed like smth that would be fast paced and glad to hear you don't need to really dwell on the jargon, that's honestly how im feeling reading the book like it's littered with so much jargon but you don't necessarily need to know what it all means
interesting about the editing??? that sounds like it fits the vibe though, im very curious!
thank you for confirming he says fuck a lot, that's actually vital AND SEEING HIM ON THE BIG SCREEN AGH im so happy you got to see it anon!!!!
WHERE IS TOM BLYTH ARE YOU KIDDING GHUFGHUKJG thats so silly i love that, will def be watching for that character too
jim from the office comparison best thing you could have said dear god
and interesting about the title!!! I think bull run honestly works better cause it's quick and punchy so I get why they would change it, but from what you said, I get you
FIC POTENTIAL IS GREAT yk we will explore bobby, I will even if only four of us are writing him lmao
ANON THANK YOU AGAIN I HOPE IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE i really need this movie soon I am so excited

bio
— amir was born at 3:13pm on 12th january 1993 to rishi kapadia, a lawyer, and his wife amrita, an artist and art teacher. he has one younger sister named samira. they resided in edinburgh until amir was five and then moved to london to be closer to family.
— the kapadias had always been close, going out on the weekends to some place educational or of historical importance, and holidaying across the uk, sometimes venturing abroad to places like germany, italy, the united states, and mexico. the trips themselves served as valuable family time as well as creative inspiration for amrita. later amir would take inspiration, too, and use his wonderful childhood memories to create unique and beautiful things.
— when amir was 11, the family moved back to edinburgh so his father could pursue a better job offer and his mother could set up her own shop in the city centre. on the weekends, amir spent a lot of time in the shop, helping out with daily tasks and serving customers; he grew to live the social side of it and also learned more from his mother about making jewellery.
— amir was a daydreamer in school. he enjoyed learning, but would rather stare at a wall and think about the book he was reading or the documentary he’d watched on the weekend. it got him into trouble a couple of times, but the teachers were consistently impressed with his grades. for a long time he wanted to be a filmmaker, but having been inspired by his mother’s art from a young age and his fascination with her jewellery in particular amir decided, at the age of 15, that he wanted to make his own jewellery. his parents were very supportive of his choice and so was his sister, but only after a long period of teasing him for picking a ‘girly’ job.
— he went on to university at the age of 18, studying jewellery & silversmithing at the university of edinburgh, and loved it. amir made plenty new friends who were like-minded and enjoyed living away from home even if he had stayed in the same city. he excelled in his course and almost took a masters degree, but changed his mind at the last minute.
— after graduating, amir decided to spend a couple of months travelling alone in new england. it was something he'd wanted to do his whole life and also used it as a chance to gain inspiration for his work. he stumbled upon kilmer’s cove by accident, but felt strangely drawn to the place. he spent two weeks there and had to leave for connecticut, but he never forgot about it and looked back fondly through photographs he took.
— he returned home and worked with his mother at her shop as well as on his own jewellery making. amir began to sell his products in the shop and proved to be incredibly popular, especially with tourists, and it was this success that made amir realise he’d made the right choice in pursuing his passions and turning them into a career, even when there were times when he wanted to quit.
— at the age of 25, amir said goodbye to scotland and relocated alone to kilmer’s cove. it was daunting at first, but his heart was in that little coastal town and knew he had to give it a shot. with the money he had earned from commissions and with a little help from his parents, he managed to buy a little shop in the heart of town and establish it as a boutique selling handmade bespoke jewellery and metalwork. he named it ‘charmed & co’.
— amir met his now fiancée tippi not long after he made the move. he struck up a conversation with her as they waited in line at a café, with him asking what she would recommend off the menu. a few weeks later, she came into charmed & co and that’s when he asked her out on a date. the rest is history!
— he now lives with tippi and their cat shelby and are planning to get married in the summer of 2025.

This is just my opinion or view of the film kalki2898ad don't let this influence you or offend you.
Firstly, i absolutely loved this film and enjoyed it well. There was this high in the theater. The comedy worked for me cause I'm seeing prabhas like this after years. The cameos did feel unnecessary but i enjoyed them. It was fun seeing so many actors coming together on the screen.
I read the mahabartham book i have for the 2nd time so that i can understand the references (never dedicated myself like this to studies). The entire mahabharatam sequence was so so good and surreal. Those characters mann🔥🔥
I underestimated vijay devarakonda very much. Uttara's character was so beautiful and serene, malavika nair looked like absolute goddess.
Shobana ohhh her beauty and her grace🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐
The bgm felt abrupt at some places but that's ok. The story building and the details🛐🛐
The introductions, interval scene and the climax twist🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I was screaming continuously throughout the film. Ashwattama is basically 9ft pookie🎀. Kamal hassan is ulaganayakan for a reason🛐🛐🛐. I did not sleep lastnight as i was too excited. My sleep did not go in vain and the throat pain is worth this film
Nag ashwin🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐🛐

Articles about "How many words to read to learn a language?"
Saving these articles.
For a fine vocabulary, read 137 books by Ashwin Purohit. I like how he breaks down his thoughts, and I've used his calculations but changed it according to difference in word count between chinese-english to try and calculate my own guess for how many words I should aim to read.
How much input do you need to learn the 9,000 most common words by Paul Nation (pdf): some key points are you'd need to read 11 million words to learn 9,000 common words which would provide broad enough vocabulary learned to read a broad variety of material at 98% comprehension. This article is where I get the goal I mention sometimes of trying to read 11 million words (my mini goal is 4 million words, I forgot where I got that mini goal from though... regardless, it's a good initial milestone to aim for... maybe I got it from that 'read 100 books' challenge on some language learning forums). Paul Nation suggests 12 repetitions of seeing a word in reading would be enough to learn it, and in general my experience matches that as I learn a word after 2-20 times of seeing it and usually within 6-12 times.
92 Books Later: How to Learn a Language by Reading: this writer aimed to follow Paul Nation's advice, and is suggesting something similar to Purohit above - read a LOT of books to learn enough vocabulary.
The Super Challenge: Information on Language Learner's Forum, and on r/languagelearning subreddit, just a fun challenge to consider, it pops up on language forums once a year. The challenge is to watch 100 films (90 minutes each), read 100 books (50 pages each) in 20 months. (A few of you watch enough cdramas... I really think you could hit the 100 90-minutes-worth-of-shows watched in chinese only, if you felt up for it).

nagi has been open about it, like the fact that the whole deepika walking through fire sequence was derived from vasudev walking through yamuna and he just changed the element. I HATE HATE HATE HATE that this man is not getting his due for making this movie, the time and effort he has put in detailing is being overshadowed by words of people who can't accept that a "experimental" film has flaws and that too are minor flaws mind you. like seriously fuck them all I'm a nag ashwin fan FOR LIFE.
People need to accept the fact that he is a genius and he needs to get a lot of credit for the whole story line because he has taken a lot of inspiration from the puranas and build up the whole storyline, he didn't just jump into filmmaking, but rather did alot of research and gathered up information and then started the film, because the whole thing felt familiar and at same time felt like a new experience 🤌 and hats off to him because of that, the small small details from Mahabharat, Supreme Yaskin, the complex, everything made sense, not like it was all made up thing for the movie, if you understand what I mean....and the VFX✨ do I even need to talk about it!!!!

Actress Mrunal Thakur, who made a special appearance in Nag Ashwin’s directorial ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, was quick to accept the offer to be part of the film, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.
“When I was approached for ‘Kalki,’ I didn’t even take a moment to say yes,” Mrunal said.

DAY 5633
Jalsa, Mumbai                  July 20/21,  2023                  Thu/Fri  12:58 AM
🪔 .. July 21 .. birthday greetings to Ef Sunanda Pandey from UAE .. Ef Shiv Shankar Roy from Assam .. and Ef Amira Mohamed from Egypt .. love and affection from the Ef Family .. 🙏🏻🚩 and may this special day remain special ever  .. love from the Ef Family ...
Finally got the reason for the Tumblr odd behaviour .. the settings have been changes .. the designing has undergone a repair .. and what was available earlier is still available , but there has to be made an effort to get to it  ..
Life lessons from Tumblr ... or just a t like the t of twitter .. !!! A bit confusing to start with , but the experts of the digital world or should we really say the experts from the changing world know the know how of all and thank the good Lord for that ..
Effort .. needs to be made to achieve ..
And after achievement keep making the effort to keep achieving ..  ..
So the day of yesterday was filled with the soul of the strains of music and the wonderful world that it brings .. heart, mind and the imagination that none can ever understand but the creator .. and to fill that void is quite quite impossible .. even for genius that abounds about us .. so be in the still of the night and sit and listen to your own .. its meaning that is understood only ONLY by the self .. and what a wonderful feeling ..
AND ..
the first look of Project K has just been released at this huge Film event in SanDiego called COMICON ..
I must admit unabashedly that I had no idea what Comicon meant or was until I told Abhishek, or rather asked him what this is all about and he said .. with a shocked look on his face :
“Dad .. Comicon ? this is a huge deal  ..”
and today as I partake in a Zoom call at the release I cannot but be in bewildered admiration for Nagi Ashwin and his team for putting together an astonishing film ..
I am trying to put the teaser here .. but am not proficient enough for that .. I hope by the morning there shall be sufficient help in doing so ..
Abhishek’s reaction said it all ..
“WHOA !!! .. THIS IS HUGE .. “
well .. laddo peda all in his mouth for this .. 🤣
I must retire now .. for the nights have been long and .. well long .. so ..
My love ❤️

Kalki 2898 AD - Movie Review
Tumblr media
India's highest budget movie till date, Kalki 2898 AD has released today. Nag Ashwin, who is just 2 films old (Evade Subramanyam & Mahanati), helming this magnum opus of science fiction interlinked with mythology, is itself a gutsy attempt. Roping in stalwarts like Amitabh and Kamal Haasan, while having "The Prabhas" and Deepika is taking it to next level. Did he live upto the expectations? Let's see.
Story :- It's 2898 AD, where there are only 3 worlds shown. Complex, Kashi and Shambala. Complex controls Kashi and all other worlds with it's dominance under the guidance of Yaskin (Kamal Haasan). They trace fertile women and use them for making Project K a success, which gives super power to Yaskin. Kashi is deprived of all resources and exploited by Complex. Shambala is a rebel group who want to bring down Complex at any cost. Sumathi (Deepika) is pregnant and crucial for Project K to become success, however she escapes from Complex to save her baby. Bhairava (Prabhas) a bounty hunter, who is desperate to shift to Complex from Kashi, wants to catch Sumathi and handover to complex. Ashwathama (Amitabh) is alive just to protect Sumathi's baby. Bhairava and Ashwathama face off each other in this process. Who wins over whom? Was Sumathi protected? Forms the rest of the story.
Performances :- Entire story revolves around Deepika. She was very good in the given scope and interval block stands out. Amitabh Bachchan has most creamy role, be it the elevations, action sequences or back story. He is outstanding in it. This could be termed as the best mass role for Amitabh in ages. Prabhas is the life of the film. What could be otherwise an serious emotional film with slow pace, was made lively with his comedy timing. His camaraderie with Bujji, one liners during action sequences, sequences with Bhramandam or other cameos, makes the movie enjoyable. His get up in the last scene bring goosebumps to fans. Kamal Haasan has limited scope and he excels in it. Despite having prosthetic and graphics, his intensity in acting arrests you. Bengali actor Saswata Chatterjee has a meatier role as commander of Complex and he was great. Shobhana, Pasupathy, Rajendra Prasad, Disha Patani, Anna Ben were fine in their roles. Lot of cameos are there throughout the movie, which surprise us occassionally.
Technicians :- Graphics of the movie is of the highest standard and on par with any Hollywood movie. The team should be applauded for the quality. Art work comes next in line for the accolades, setting up 3 worlds with contrasting premises. Action sequences were very well designed and executed, using the graphics to the maximum extent possible. Santosh Narayanan background score is excellent. Songs could have been better though. Nag Ashwin deserves a bow for the way he has conceived this story and executed it. Perfect blend of Indian mythology in a science fiction film is a very rare phenomenon, which he has aced. No one would believe that the director of Mahanati and Kalki are one and the same. Such is the contrast of these films genre are. He has a Rajamouli and a Bapu in him. Costumes & Make up have complimented the proceedings of the film.
Positives :-
Everything
Negatives :-
Lags in 1st half
Few songs
Summary :- Great story, terrific performances, top notch graphics make it must watch. It should be seen as a story based movie rather than a Prabhas movie, to enjoy it fully. Kudos to Nag Ashwin for pulling it off.
Rating :- 4.5/5 (Kalki is India's Avengers)
