Who is Ashten Light? Though new to the Instagram poetry community, I have been writing poems for many years. My first (now obsolete) collection of poetry was self-published shortly after turning 12. In the many years since, I have continued my love of poetry. Primarily a coping mechanism for me, I find using words and phrases to give voice to some of my struggles very comforting. Soon after my 16th birthday, I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and, later, ADHD. Because of my experiences with these mental illnesses, I am passionate about helping those in need. I am a psychology student hoping to make a difference. It was a rather recent realization that the best way to use poetry to help other people feel less alone in their hardships is to get out there on social media and start sharing these pieces of my soul. I hope to publish another collection of poetry soon! Thank you all for your kind welcoming into this community and I hope to add a bit more positivity and love however I can!
