20 Hearing impaired youth got placed in Animation Sector

On a happy note Ashray Akruti shares that the Multimedia and Animation Training Unit team had placed twenty (20) (Divyagajan) disabled youth in Animation sector. These twenty divyagajan (Hearing Impaired) trainees are selected as Roto Artists in the FX groups (Computer Graphic Units).

NEW BORN HEARING SCREENING

Significant hearing loss is one among the most common and major abnormalities present at birth. It is a fact that if hearing loss is presents it should be detected and remedied before the baby is 6 months old as it impedes speech, language and cognitive development. The large number of newborns in various Government and private hospitals need to be addressed as there is neither universal screening nor a high risk screening existing in the majority of the hospitals in Telangana.

The new born hearing screening project provides Otoacoustic emissions, OAE screening to newborn babies from hospitals in Hyderabad. It also provides Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry, BERA screening for all those babies who are detected as ‘REFER’ during initial OAE screening. Newborn babies who are diagnosed with hearing loss are referred to Ashraya-Akruti’s early intervention Centre at S.R Nagar, Hyderabad.
