TEMPEST DIDN’T ASK FOR MUCH. She didn’t need a grand gesture to prove he loved her. He had shown many times how much she meant to her. As high-maintenance as she seemed, she appreciated all his efforts. He was more than she could ever ask for. He and their children brought her happiness. “Even if you disappoint me now, it’ll be fine. You can make it up to me the next time. There will be more Christmas and holidays for us to come.” Her statement held hope for the future. She wasn’t a hopeful person. She feared the future but had faith in a future with Ash. He was the one for her. He was it. He was her endgame. “This better be worth it,” she threatened jokingly. She chuckled. The gift she received was more than worth it. It exceeded her expectations. "I’m gonna admit defeat and say you outsmarted me,” she quipped, watching him get down on his knee. Tears welled at the corner of her eyes. Immense joy filled her chest as she listened to his declaration. Her heart warmed up at his words. He was worth the wait. He was worth it. “And you–—you are the greatest thing I never knew I needed.” She lent him the box and held out her hand. “Yes. Yes, I’ll be your wife someday.” She nodded eagerly, her eyes lighting up and her lips curling into a smile. She loved him a lot. She couldn’t wait to have his children and be his wife. This was the most excited than she had ever been her whole life. She had never been sure of anything more than this.

What inspires your work? Who are your biggest inspirations?

People, community, justice. Relationships. I always want things to feel human and organic. In a world where capitalism wants everything to be homogenous and systemized, I always want to create the thing made by hand, the unique or weird thing. I love plants and am really inspired by nature and life cycles. I garden. The esoteric. Tarot and astrology. Texture. Experimentation. Materials. Clay, glass, brass, charcoal. Music, loud and soft textures, contrast.

Kae Tempest — I sat next to Kae in a poetry slam at the Nuyorican in NYC in, like, 2010. I didn’t know they were performing. We chatted a bit throughout the show and then they went last, destroying the stage and winning the slam. The have gone on to rap and write and put out records and write plays and exist in this elevated yet gritty, honest space. Their shows are some of the most magical community experiences I’ve ever witnessed. They care deeply about people and community and bring that to everything they do.

Adam Gnade — Writer and musician that I’ve followed since Myspace days. I messaged him once for the lyrics to a spoken word song I heard of his called “Honey Slides” and I was so happy he responded (but I never saved it and wish I did??). We’re now kind of internet acquaintances. He is prolific and speaks in this gritty, no fucks voice that I can always feel emotionally. He puts out books and cassettes and zines and just whatever he feels like forever. Years ago when I was asking myself what the definition of a successful artist meant to me, he was on my list because I just want to make stuff people care about, consistently, forever. He’s got a long-term, loyal fanbase. I just want to find my people and create for them/us for as long as I’m breathing. Girl Knew York — There is a way Mira is rooted in her voice and craft that allows her to branch out into so many different mediums and communities that I aspire to and have really resonated with in the last few years. Tracey Emin — Sexually empowered badass artist, uses her body to tell story. Just opened a school, holding space for other artists and building community.

David Lynch — Dark and weird. Prolific. Wholesome yet obscene. Moby — Plays, like, every instrument. Is always playing, even after so many years in the industry. Karen O — Such a unique voice in a male dominated industry and world. Seth Rogen — I love the way he’s built a brand around craft and his own unique interests and personality and pleasure.

Vex Ashley — Creating gorgeous erotic films with A Four Chambered Heart. Director, photographer, artist of all things erotic and dark.

Emma Ruth Rundle — Musician and visual artist. Creating dark, emotional art across different genres of music (metal, folk, etc.) and visual media (photography, sculpture, installation).

• laura bailey - NEEDS TO PLAY A PALADIN. she loves huge damage output, and she’ll get a mix of healer, buffs, and tank

• liam obrien - i need him to play a cleric so bad. i miss it when he was a full caster. maybe something like tempest or peace

• ashley johnson - she should play a full rogue, maybe sci blade or arcane trickster. theres not too much to keep track of, and she get up some devious nonsense with that expertise

• taliesan jaffe - some evil fucked up sorcerer multiclass. he has the range

• marisha ray - ranger. she loves having one million different abilities and that is the class of one million different abilities

• sam riegal - some fighter, like echo knight or rune. i think rune is really cool and i want someone to do it. he could do the tragedy of a fighter soooooo well

Every month, we highlight significant work done in the previous month by our editing community at Encyclopedia Exandria. This one is a LONG one, so fair warning...

March 2024 saw the creation of 83 (eighty-three) new mainspace articles! A bit more on why so many later, but first here's a selection of ten of them. You can find more at the 50 newest pages report.

So, why so many new articles? We created individual articles for every episode of Midst! Using information we already had in list of Midst episodes, we were able to create episode articles painlessly, programmatically, and promptly with Python magic. We've also made updates to our episode infobox for Midst to document airdates for the re-releases and for subscribers, illustrators for the video versions, and appendices links. Now that we've got individual articles, the summaries on the list were made more concise to provide different levels of summarization and to make appendices links easier to see. Work is also underway on the individual articles, including more robust summaries (now that they're standalone rather than in a table), appendices summaries, and illustration galleries. You can check out the articles for Unrise, Switcheroo, and Tempest for a peek at what we're aiming for and slowly moving toward.

Character infoboxes now have a place for movement speeds, making it easier to do thought experiments about which PC will win in a race. Also, we've historically had explanatory notes for multiple stats or DCs in a hover. We've changed our best practices to instead place these into a footnote formatted similar to references so that these notes can be accessed by mobile users.

The character infobox was also updated to handle stats for systems other than Dungeons & Dragons. We've added new items for Daggerheart (we're still getting a feel for what should be included), and we have options for a full custom stat array. This allows us to better handle Daggerheart characters in the future, should we see more of them, but also to better handle PCs in past one-shots who were not well-serviced by the less flexible stat handling. We've also inserted new fields to properly reflect Daggerheart's Community and Ancestry character options.

Hot take, maybe. Now that the shard is up for grabs again after Ashton puked it up, I wish it goes to someone else and not Fearne. Reasons:

1. She doesn't want it. Maybe she shouldn't be scared of turning evil yadda yadda, but I think from Fearne's perspective she has MORE reason to not want the shard now that it almost killed Ashton. Imagine eating up a shard of power that almost killed your crush in front of you because you rejected it the first time. (Again, this is not about whose at fault, this is about what Fearne would feel, regardless).

2. I want her power-up to be from her own backstory. Disclaimer: I haven't watched EXU so I don't know how much of her backstory is revealed there, but considering the fandom's reaction when it was revealed that Nana Morri warped time (or was it Ira messing up with their memory? Sorry I forgot) so Fearne was left by her parents for 7 decades instead of the only few years that Birdie and Ollie felt, I guess there wasn't much? Now Matt hinted for potential thread of backstory for her by implying that Birdie has been keeping a dark secret. I want her power-up to be related to THAT instead of Ashton's Hishari origin. Because if so, then we will potentially get more insight to another side of Fearne when the story centered around her and more character growth. Fearne keeps watching her friends dying, having a crush but not knowing what to do about it, Fearne possibly finding out her mother hasn't always been honest with her... I want to dig those further above the table instead of fans' analysis because so far, she has been on the sideline for far too long. Ashley finally can be consistently at the table this campaign, let's not waste that.

3. Potential fire werewolf or Savior Blade of The Tempest getting some elemental magic don't entice you? Really??
