Ashford Castle Hotel is located in Mayo County, in the village of Cong, Ireland. The 800-year-old medieval castle served as the principal stronghold for Anglo-Norman de Burgo. The castle has a long history and changed hands many times. In 1715, the Browne family added a French chateau-design to the castle. In My Humble Opinion: You can tell the real Hallmark aficionados versus the fakes, by asking them about their knowledge of Andrew Francis. The man has never ever been the lead of a Hallmark movie, yet he shows up in what feels like fifty percent of them. Is the lead a wedding planner looking for love? Andrew Francis is probably the groom she’s planning a wedding for. Does the lead have a past boyfriend she needs to get over on her path to true love? Andrew Francis is probably that ex. Is the movie about an angel who needs to mend bridges as part of a Christmas assignment? Andrew Francis is probably part of that bridge. And in case you were wondering, he’s already shown up this season in Engaging Father Christmas as another ex-boyfriend. He’s the personification of the saying “always a bridesmaid, never a bride”, if being a bride was leading a Hallmark movie.

Andrew Francis is back at it again in Coming Home for Christmas, playing the unsuccessful member of the movie’s romantic love triangle. And while, I enjoyed Coming Home for Christmas, one of Danica McKellar’s best Hallmark showings and a fun entry in the “emotionally constipated man learns to have feelings because he meets someone lively” canon, I am starting to feel bad for Andrew Francis. Will he ever get to be a Hallmark lead?

Because he fits all the traits of a typical Hallmark lead. He looks like he could have been in a Vermont Country Store catalog ten years ago. He has enough personality, but not so much it scares you. He lives in Canada. He has a role on Chesapeake Shores, so cross-promotion opportunity there. And yet, he can’t climb higher than fifth billing.

Maybe it’s better that way, because if he climbs higher than fifth-billing, I can no longer use “Name 3 Andrew Francis Hallmark movies” as the barrier question to entrance in my super secret Hallmark fan club. And who wants to lose a fun trivia question? Not me, certainly.

Watch If: You think the Boy Scouts have good advice, if you are terrified of Santa Claus, or if you think the best dates are challenge-based in nature.
