Ash's birthday Fic 2024

Summary: Ash never really liked his birthday when he didn't find anything good about being alive. Shorter was about to try to change that.

Ash hadn't really been too keen on his birthday when he found nothing good about being alive. He wasn't really even alive anymore, he was merely existing. Alive meant he felt more than empty numbness and chills at night. But that was all about to change.

He'd never realized how fast his life could change just by meeting another kid in juvenile detention who was about to become his savior, a true angel in his eyes. Anytime before when Ash had been ganged up on, it ended badly. However, now that he'd met this other kid, no one dared to mess with him now.

"I'm Shorter. And as long as we're friends, no one's going to mess with you." Ash had heard comforting words such as this before, but this time, he had hope. This kid seemed genuinely sincere and he wasn't going to let his past fears get the best of him. However it wasn't so easy to let someone in when the only protection he'd had for so many years was the gun he grabbed to protect himself with as a kid. Why did Griffin never make it home?

He couldn't blame his brother, but it just meant Ash had to grow up and had to do it fast. But for now he had at least one friend he could somewhat trust, as Ash didn't often trust anyone older than him. Thankfully Shorter was roughly the same age.

The more the two talked, the more they learned to trust one another and the closer they got. But that dreadful day, that reminder that he was still alive and had been brought into such a fucked up world on this specific day was inching closer and Ash wanted nothing to do with it.

He pulled the covers over his head and ignored the cries of his fellow gang members, until he heard that very familiar motorcycle pull up and that voice that somehow always could calm him, even when it was shouting.

"Yo, Ash! I didn't ride over from Chinatown for nothin' get your ass down here!" No doubt it was Shorter and he wasn't taking "not tonight" for an answer.

Quickly Ash threw on his red hoodie and sneakers and headed downstairs to a sight he didn't expect. There in Shorter's arms was the biggest cake he'd seen in a while. Ash had never had a reason to celebrate his birthday because he never thought he had a good enough reason to live. But here, before him now, stood one of the few people in his life he could always trust and depend on, going out of his way just to bring Ash a cake for his birthday? If that was anything, it was love. But love would take a little longer to get out of Ash and that was something Shorter knew from the beginning. Which was why he was willing to go slow and be patient and savor each moment he had with Ash, it made the chase a little sweeter.

Laws For The Lawless {RULES}

Read these before interacting! Please know that if I feel uncomfortable with ANY interaction, I will speak ONCE with you privately, and if the behavior persists, I will block you.

Blood, gore, canon-typical violence, body horror, supernatural horror, PTSD, self-harm, disordered eating habits, description or discussion of body augmentation, death, guns/weapons, explosives, use of torture, kidnapping/hostage situations, unhealthy coping mechanisms, unhealthy relationships, physical/mental/sexual/domestic abuse, substance abuse, parental abuse/neglect, themes of religion/religious imagery, characters with past instances of CSA, characters with mental illnesses, fantasy racism, internalized homophobia, gaslighting, mentions/discussions of grooming, victim blaming, situations of noncon/dubcon*, nonconsensual recording, sex work/prostitution, and dehumanization.

* Note - I absolutely will NOT write out explicit noncon scenarios, but they may be alluded to or referenced.

I will try my best to not only tag these triggers but also discuss triggers before writing with you, but if any of these subjects make you uncomfortable, I’d advise you not to interact!

3. In addition to the potentially triggering topics that I feel comfortable writing with, there are a few topics that are very triggering to me, and should be avoided at all times. Use of these topics will result in an INSTANT BLOCK.

Discussion of parent death

Graphic/detailed depictions of hospital settings (unless previously discussed and deemed plot relevant BEFORE your reply is posted)

Use of inaccurate medical terms with regards to mental illnesses (especially the “scary” ones that people frequently misunderstand)

4. Don’t rush replies, please! I have anxiety and my writing spoons fluctuate all the time. Even if we are discussing the RP in DMs and plotting the story, I might not have the ability to put those story beats down into words that I’m proud to post. I write for fun, and it becomes immediately not fun if I’m being pressured into fast responses.

5. If you want to use an OC to RP, please tell me about them! Ideally, I would like an image of your character/their face claim and a written bio (any length is fine, can be a few sentences or a few paragraphs!), as well as their dynamic/relation to my character.

Note: Next-Gen characters or characters that are family to any of my characters need to be discussed before writing can begin to see if I can comfortably adapt to their existence!

6. My characters most likely will have some canon divergence. I will update my Headcanon Lists to make sure that all character information is up to date and accurate as more source content is released and (occasionally) reframed.

7. NO MINORS, PLEASE. I have nothing against minors using rp to develop their writing skills. Hell, that’s how I developed my writing skills when I was younger. However, this is an 18+ blog which will contain various types of adult content. RPing with minors in ANY context makes me uncomfortable, and I will confirm your age BEFORE starting to write with you. If I follow you and you are a minor, please tell me so that I may unfollow.

8. No IRL issues brought into RP, please! I use writing as a coping mechanism to escape from the harsher realities of the world right now. I do not want to talk real world politics, and I will not tolerate hate speech of any kind here.

9. I am not someone who has Exclusives! I'm happy to write with duplicates and if you do not want my muses interacting with doubles of yours please tell me via DMs; I will be more than happy to figure something out with you!

Hey everybody it’s been a while! Sorry I haven’t been on lately. I promise I haven’t forgotten you.

I’ve been having lots of problems with my family. Last month my grandmother died so I’ve been a mental wreck lately. Not to mention another one of my family members is trying to inherit EVERYTHING from them so they can sell their stuff for money, so I’ve been very stressed about that, my family is absolutely toxic.

But good news is that finally after years and years of trying to fix things by ourselves someone is finally going to help us with the hurricane damage!

I’m still not in the mental mood to write yet, but as soon as all this settles I’ll do my best to be back! Love you guys ❤️

Bless @angofwords because you saw what I saw in that quiz for Ash.

When breaking down his character and analyzing his actions over what he says, the responses there make sense. Gratitude axis is thankful over arrogant, while he's cocky Ash has always given props when due. Reception being judgmental over welcoming makes a lot of sense. -gestures vaguely to his whole background as a gang leader- He has to be guarded somewhat, plus his past makes it make even more sense as to why he's not so welcoming to new people on his turf. Forceful and savage over polite again -points at his personality and how cautious he is with new comers- Absolutely merciless, we've seen him straight up kill without hesitation, but again can't blame him. He's for the most part only killed if he felt it was justified. Honesty vs deception being almost a complete 50-50 fits him too, we know he's lied before to save himself from being abused again or even worse punishment when he was afraid or if he needed to get information, Nurse Barbara for ex. Humanitarian level surprisingly was higher than expected but again, look at all the guys he took under his wing in his gang and gave them a place they belonged, a leader who rescued them from something worse. Connections being 50-50 also is accurate, depends on who it is and how close they are to him.

Intrapersonal axis being slightly higher than 50-50 I feel is accurate because while Ash doesn't always openly say what's on his mind, he's not afraid to be blunt when he has to, some things though he can't bring himself to talk about yet like if he were in therapy and such.

And pessimistic outlook overall fits because we know, Ash had even said in canon that some nights he was just praying for the day he died.

So I agree as you said #100% accurate.

-- RP Update: So WTF happened?

To put it simply another time distortion happened to Ashe. The first time she got sent to Hisui, this time she's sent to another region in the distant past ( what region is remained unnamed, but if we get another legends game it'll be that region more or less ). Her and Leon managed to carve out a life for themselves in the wilderness with the help of some people who taught them how to fend for themselves.

In the midst of those six years, Ashe and Leon became parents to Willow. Ashe wasn't the happiest when she found out and it took a lot of emotional circles for her to come to terms with the fact while part of her was scared that she wouldn't be a good mother, she still was carrying the child of the person she loved the most and while he said he would follow her lead, she decided to go through with it.

Dying in the process of childbirth led Leon to making a deal with the region's legendary and out of mercy it brought Ashe back and didn't put any stipulations on the deal -- only that they live their life to the fullest. Ashe and Leon spent the next five years finding their footing in raising a rambunctious girl and in doing so finding ways to survive in this foreign land. They were prepared to give up on going back until they felt the pull of the time distortion.

They were able to go back to their own time with Willow and some new pokemon friends in tow. No one pokemon-wise has passed but some new scars were gained such as Excalibur gaining a crack in his shield which never mended. In turn, Ashe gains a Garchomp who helped teach her to hunt and survive, Kumiko ( main verse story, but actually got from the Lunar Festival '24 race ), and also Chirithy the Zeraora who decided to pay his debt to Ashe in saving his life through being Willow's Guardian.

Ashe is well aware people are flipping their shit on Leon's side and her own and are rightfully worried about Willow being she might not be a good mom. Ashe was worried for a while too, but the emotional journeys she went through with her now husband ( they had a ceremony with the pokemon of the wood ordaining them, kinda cool tbh ) and daughter to know she won't be alone in going forward. She may take some steps back, as will Leon, but Willow is there to pull them forward, as is the rest of the family.
