Just played Rot In Paradise !! For a game jam, I feel like it's really good, and I'm honestly impressed studio investigrave finished an entire game of such great quality in such a short amount of time. But, this is a sort of review/analyzing the game ?? (^o^)
So I'm going to list off things I liked, interpretations and stuff !! (And yeah, I know next month racheldraws is going to put out a statement on what the ending was, and everything, etc. after the gamejam time limit, and everything is over)
β οΈ Also, spoiler warning !! β οΈ I'm basically talking about the whole game, including endings, so if you haven't played it/watched a playthrough yet, I heavily encourage you to !!

The characters were amazing as usual !! All of their dynamics were so cute, and it made what happened to them really effective. (*Β΄Π`) Honestly, I can't even pick a favorite character because I love all of them so much !! (Οβ§β½β¦)Ο For such a short amount of time, the characters were fleshed out pretty well !! ^u^ It really does feel like they're a close group of friends that's known each other for a long time, and it was really sad to see them be affected throughout the game. ( Β΄_γ`)
The art style is really charming, and the music does a good job at capturing the vacation beach vibes. The tension and buildup to the subtle horror and open-ended endings are also really good, and I think the way they foreshadowed things did a good job of making the whole trip feel ominous.
As for the endings, I like their vague vibe and the way you can interpret them how you'd like. It makes the game more personal when it's such an easy metaphor, if that makes sense? As in, it's easy to compare it to many things and can help a lot of people feel seen.
The designs for the "zombies" (whatever you'd call them) were really cool, too !! (^β^)
I would love to have more interactions with the characters and be able to hang out with them more !! While the characters were solid and good in the time they had, I kind of just wish we had more of them, but again, I still love the game a lot !! It's just kind of me loving the game and wanting more !! (*β§Π·β¦)

I agree with the people saying this game is likely a metaphor for substance abuse/alcoholism and toxic friends. It's honestly a pretty heavy-handed metaphor, but I'd like to try and take a different perspective because I don't want to just repeat what's already been said.
Instead, I'm going to be taking a look into the more supernatural aspects !! (^^)d (There's not much to work with, so I'll try my best !!)
First of all, I'd like to over the information we were given in game about this rot. All the affected characters have an unquenchable ghirst/appetite, specifically for things that are associated with the ocean. It's almost like some kind of effect or curse overcoming them - scrambling their personality, tastes, etc. Even changing their appearance.
The main cause of the rot is presumanly "She." We don't exactly have much information on this "She," not even a name. But, based on previous information, I'm going to assume it's some kind of ocean goddess.
I think the reason June was able to escape the curse/virus was the option to save the old man. When she rescues him, he says, "When She takes back what's rightfully hers, you'll be lucky not to be left behind." Whoever this "She" is was probably angered by June saving that old man, and therefore did not want to being her to her ocean.
Along with the effects of the virus/curse I think they bring out the worst traits in people and maximize them. Not saying I know these characters well, by the way, it's just me guessing. Feel free to disagree and eplain why !! Carmen is carefree and bubbly, but she has a tendency to put her feelings above others'. Von has a sharp tongue and is easily irritable. In the game, it says she likes to hate on things. McCoy, I'm honestly not solid on this one, but maybe he is easily dismissive of problems and lets them slide. Ryan we don't get to see much of when he's affected, but I'd say he's a bit of a downer and too nonchalant (/j)
Also, I have a suspicion that they're like turning into into fish people of some kind, and might be growing gills, idk !! I just want to talk abt this gameee ghhh

Hi i just wanted to ask , do you remember when nene found amane crying after the tea party , he was injured and bleeding and his book was cutted who do you think was the abuser and why did he hurt him that much can u please analysis that moment , i will be happy to read your thoughts
Let me guess, most people think it was Tsukasa, right?
Because it happened shortly before their deaths, in reality Amane is without the bandages, that is, he only has the bandage on his cheek. You can imagine that their meeting took place before Tsuchigomori bandaged him.
In fact, the dates prove this
When Nene found him
When Tsuchigomori did the bandages, a few days later.
But about your question, who would have hurt Amane? Who would have made him cry? Who would be doing this over so long?
Once, I considered the possibility of Tsukasa devouring him little by little every day, yes, literally. He's a supernatural so he's hungry, so Amane would be scared that they would push Tsukasa away because he was hurting other people, you know, fulfilling those tragic desires at such high costs. But I don't know, the injuries don't look like bites, despite the marks from the ropes.
I thought about the possibility because of the image of Hanako tied to red ropes around his wrists and because Tsukasa was biting his ear.
I don't know if I believe this anymore, it feels like something is missingβ¦
It turns out that we are at a loss, I mean, we don't know much about his parents, they seemed to be loving, at least, until before Tsukasa reappeared.
Amane had no friends, which means, in the end, the only option is Tsukasa, the person he loves most and always forgives. Yes, Amane said it was okay, even if they said no, he would forgive.
For him to forgive, he has to love the person very much, it has to be someone irreplaceable for him. And who is the person who fits this description?
Tsukasa.
But calm down, this is the deduction based on the information we have now, it could be that there are other people we don't know, other situations we haven't seen. For now, the signs point to Tsukasa.
We don't know why there were bruises, whether it was a beating, whether they were bruised to satisfy Tsukasa's possible hunger. We do not know.
Or else he would be trying to transform into a supernatural, like his brother, we don't know how someone becomes a supernatural, but from the look on Kou's face, it doesn't seem like the most pleasant path. It doesn't seem like death is the only way to do this, the way Kou hesitatedβ¦.
What kind of sacrifice would you have to make to become a supernatural? And why would Amane have wanted that? Did he wish?
In the end, I believe that at that moment he was having one of those crying and angry crises, you know, I think he tore up the books as an outburst that he will never make his dreams come true, because he made the decision not to go to "nowhere", you know.
He told Tsuchigomori that. It seems that before he had an argument with someone, then he had a crying and angry fit, he tore up the books and started crying behind the curtains.
The second possibility was that someone tore up the books and was aggressive towards Amane, he seemed scared, so it is a valid possibility.
What it suggests is that on that day he had already made his decision. But, I like to think about some points beyond this scene. Where are their parents? Why don't they do anything about it? They can see that one of their children is hurt, so why don't they do anything?
Were they still alive? Are they abusive? What is the explanation for this negligence? This didn't happen once, it happened multiple times, where were they?
Oh, so many questionsβ¦

HAHAHA HI! I loved reading this don't apologize for anything this is awesome!
you've got a lot of good things going on here, so I'm just gonna bullet point a couple things i think I can say without spoiling much ;)
it is scar in the dream, but like not in the way I think you're implying. He's not like, teleporting into Grian's dream, but it IS him. (This will make sense more later as we see more dreams, dw)
immortal... huh... Well, that does have something to do with someone- I'M NOT SAYING WHO THOUGH
what was Grian seeing when he looked at himself? well, himself of course- it's a mirror! ;)
Goofs aside I'm ALSO very excited for this fic and I'm super happy to hear people's thoughts and theories on it in real time. Like, none of them are going to change what I have planned, but it's super fun to hear that someone else is as excited about this as me!
tysm for sharing!!!

π° for the vibes!!!! if u want a category i'd love the marked :)
muse sampling & plots (accepting) ! please specify a at least 1 category listed on my muse roster ( the marked, harborview, hanuel's inn, supernatural, crime, mythology, misc. / testing, fantasy ) β not restricted to just romantic connections.
pulling a small aside here since they're all from the same org. any variation of supernatural themes is pretty straight forward. just stay off the 'bad creature' radar and the marked won't tack jesper on their 'to kill' list. and depending on the circumstances / character, they might even seek his aid.
soothsayer β promise this was actually pulled by random and not because you said her concept was kickass ( my fingers are maybe crossed ). also, i'll go by verses that i could see any of these characters can fit into. modern, if there's ever a chance he's anywhere near a court, she'll probably be there. or she could also have her hand in some similar criminal connections that might know of her precognitive capabilities ( though, i think it'd be fun to front it as just really deep superstition ). any variation of fantasy / royalty to really lean into her powers, especially if hierarchy's involved. will be upfront and say if there's any want for a mother figure connection, she's your gal. but in a very stern asian mother sort of way with backhanded advice and too much peeled fruit and the most random presents because they were a great deal.
ari β hiiiiii klepto bestie who loves a good bet. not too sure where luck lands on their side, but they love to neg people on. fun fact about their power, ari's able to summon anything and anyone. so the instance of being pulled into another universe is always an option! and so is.... being chased by the 2 creatures that are bound to them. which, they don't have complete control over so.. they're sorry in advance. can also be jammed into modern and fantasy verses.
seojun β who wants a crime funcle? think he's more fitting for a modern setting with or without outright supernatural elements. does have the penchant to adopt pseudo nieces and nephew and anything in between. is typically encouraging! but would not... encourage the gambling ( he's had to pry himself away from mahjong one too many times with super deep holes in his pockets.... )
litho β ah. the bitch. look, he's so versatile in the way that he has two things he's good at. foraging papers and doing cool stuff with ink. could've crossed paths fighting off some ugly dugly monster. could've pissed him off really easily, but i keep shoving him back into random interactions. could've done a tattoo or two β even remove some! i can fit him into any verse tbh.
ricochet β oh. the actual terror of the marked that everyone's ok with dying. i don't.... have much for him? besides being a menace to everyone unintentionally. he gets triggered into aggression easily. doesn't say much. purposely gets himself beat so he can return the favor twofold. heavy on the retrograde amnesia. can also.... probably work something out in most verses.
saul, as a bonus β pretty much going to regurgitate the same connections as above, but with the sick addition of having a personal guardian :o) that.. may or may not rob their host's consciousness just to get the job done when it comes to external dangers :o)) literally any verse works since they've existed for so, so long. extremely sour personality. can come in fun lil' critter forms and terrifying eldritch ones!
#* & thatβll be one (1) nugget please β answered .#// skipping away with the marked hand in hand#// everyone trips ricochet though

Sam isn't like John or Dean because the biggest win for Sam is that he eventually breaks the generational cycle of abuse that was transferred right from Henry to John to Dean....a cycle all three succumb to. The only difference with Dean is that he exercises this abuse towards Sam.
They were all hurt so they in turn hurt in the name of LOVE...I mean if you look at John as a character he uses his love for his boys to justify his choices in their early years..i am quiet sympathetic towards John coz his challenges were that much bigger.
Fighting against the supernatural while raising two boys while not having all the answers but desperately wanting to save his kids from the danger that he doesn't even fully understand. It's like the world of the supernatural is not an option but a choice if he has to at all survive. He does this all the while dealing with the loss of his wife who was perhaps his happy space same as what Jess was to Sam.
This is honestly the only instance where John and Sam have similar reactions to losing the love of their life. Outside of this the person who is similar to John is mostly Dean...he justifies his choices very much like John does often using - just coz he said so as rationale. We see so many of this during the later seasons. It is almost terrible the kind of character Dean becomes at certain instances of the story. I mean where he says their relationship was a dictatorship just equates him to John like nothing else in the show ever.
I can empathize with Dean as well and how abusive and abrasive he often is but perhaps not as much as John coz he does not have it as bad as John but still gives into his problematic qualities more often than not which people like to justify....
But they just have to ask themselves one question - is he a guys that you would actually interact in real life? Coz if you're honest about it you wouldn't. He is just filled with red flags.
Whatever people like to claim about Dean's love for Sam ; though extremely profound and beautiful it has a lot of possessiveness and sense of control around it very much like John's love for Sam....which actually gets worse in later seasons where he blames Sam for his choices.
What the finale did was actually show a growth where loving someone as deeply as Sam and Dean loved each other (since for a most part they only had each other) wasn't only about having them around whatever the cost but also about LETTING GO. A huge part about love is letting go....That's the reason why Dean had to die in the finale and not Sam....coz only Sam was capable of such growth as the show has shown us through the 15 seasons. He is one capable of empathy when no one (particularly Dean and Cas) showed him anything like that when he needed it the most. From forgiving Cas for breaking his wall (I wouldn't fault Sam if he didn't ) to Dean for being abusive and trying to killing him. I mean you can see the contrast in Dean and Sam like light and day here when Dean was faced with the same circumstances he was even okay to let Sam detox and die alone in the panic room ( very much a choice that John asked him to make) while Sam fights for Dean even when Dean doesn't want to. Not only in S10 but also S5 when both Bobby n Cas don't have faith in Dean...and assume he will say yes to Michael, it is only Sam who believes in Dean. This is such an underrated moment but so key to this dynamic. This shows Sam's range of forgiveness and the ability to see the good in people while Dean is just cynical.
In Swan Song, it was Sam who overpowered the Devil and stopped the apocalypse by making the ultimate sacrifice and showing the viewer the strength of the Winchester bond....his love for Dean. So the fact that Sam doesn't love Dean until S8 is just wrong....Swan song is the answer to that.
S15 marks the end of this beautiful story yet again by saying that he was even strong enough to let go of this ultimate love and bond. The finale actually shows growth for those of us who actually understood the show....and didn't think that anyone was ever as important as Sam to Dean and vice versa.
That's the reason why Supernatural is Sam Winchester's story coz no one goes through the growth and redemption that Sam does. He embodies the hero's journey who does the right thing when it is actually tough to do so.... everyone can do the right thing when it is easy only the person who does the right thing when it is tough is the protagonist that stands out.
whats your opinion on the show (imo) making sam seem like he screws up a lot and that dean is the one cleaning up after him?
For the β spn analysis ask game β
Oh, that's interesting to think about, thank you so much for asking!
Here's how i see it.
The whole base of the show is that Sam is the younger brother, and Dean needs to take care of him. That means protecting him, and in this life, cleaning up his messes, at all costs. Which is probably why they highlighted Sam's screwups, even making them more morale-challenging for Dean (I'm thinking of the whole demon blood storyline) just to show how far Dean would go for Sam.Β
When the show starts, the Winchesters' worldview is black and white: demons bad, humans good (which makes particularly interesting and smart the fact that they included the episode "The Benders", that early on, that subverts this certainty). Anyway, the more the show progresses, the more Dean finds out about Sam's powers, putting him at supernatural-beings-level, and this is the first time in the show where, in the current events, Sam thinks he's letting Dean down. But nonetheless, Dean's first priority is to protect him and help him.Β
And that's the base of their dynamics, that they were still carrying from their childhood: Sam, being the youngest, needs Dean to clean up his messes, taking care of him practically (even if he's perfectly capable of cleaning up after them himself most of he time), while Dean needs Sam emotionally, because he desperately needs love and the family that was taken away from him the moment his mother died and everything fell into pieces. I think that's a great part of the tension that charges the codependency between the brothers.Β
That said, Sam didn't really need Dean to protect him at the beginning of the show, he was actually fine by himself, doing just fine away from home.Β The show starts when the supernatural comes into their lives (Sam's life, with Jess' death) again, and Dean steps in to do what he knows how to do, better than Sam.Β
And the show plays on that for a long while, having Sam become "a problem" (his powers, the demon blood), so that Dean can be needed and attend to his caretaker job, getting to keep Sam around.
But here's the thing: where it gets even more interesting, in my opinion, is seeing how as the show progresses these roles begin to shift and reverse.Β
At the beginning of the show Dean is supposedly the one who's most similar to John and who wants to fight for the "family business", and Sam doesn't need any of this, and he doesn't need Dean.Β But as the show develops it becomes clear that Sam is the one who's actually more similar to John (sorry Sammy), and as the brothers embrace the life and the seasons advance it becomes clearer that Sam enjoys this life way more than Dean.
After all the messes he's made in the first seasons of the show, Sam becomes more desperate to make amends towards Dean.
"It was how many times i let you down"
And it's not surprising that this shift in dynamics happens right in s8, after they have been apart for a whole year (while Dean was in Purgatory) and they spend the entire season trying to reconcile their relationship. Here we can finally see a Dean who needs Sam a little less, because he's lived without him for a year and he's found Benny, who plays the role of a possible replacement (narratively). For the first time we see a jealous Sam struggling to regain Dean's forgiveness and trust--more precisely, struggling to regain his first place as Dean's shotgun. Unsurprisingly, this shift happens as Cas becomes more important to Dean too.
Dean had always struggled to create real connections with people, but as the seasons go on, he learns to do that, they find a family, and so Sam isn't the only person to give and receive Dean's love and affection. But Sam is the younger sibling, so he always took Dean for granted (it's not his fault, it's what younger siblings generally do), which is why it was so refreshing to see him realize it wasn't that granted. And that's the moment where Sam actively begins to show how much he needs Dean's love as well. Because if you think about it, aside from the found family they share (like Bobby, Jody, Charlie, Garth etc) at some point Dean actually begins to have more people than Sam's (Cas, Benny, even Crowley, just to drop names).
And I love how this season is immediately followed by the mark of Cain storyline, where we finally have Sam trying to save Dean for a change.
I think that's a big step of growth for the character, where he gets to wear the older brother's shoes and get to be the caretaker for once, and really fight for Dean as he had been doing for him until that point.
I think Sam screwed up way less after that, and it checks out with the new dynamics of their relationship: Sam has grown up more, and he doesn't need Dean to save him all the time, he can save Dean too, he's more than capable of it, and more importantly, Dean sees it. As Dean gets to develop new important relationships of affection with other people (larger found family, and Cas), he needs Sam just a tiny little less. And so he starts to see him less as a job and accepts that he can take care of himself too, and basically that whole dynamic of Sam screwing up and Dean cleaning up after his messes becomes obsolete in the show, and is less evident. They both screw up. They both clean up after each other's messes.
And beware, I'm not saying that Dean loves Sam less, just that he needs him less. I'm talking about the toxic codependency, that was actually healing and transforming into a healthier relationship (until the finale did what it did).
In later seasons Sam is portrayed more like an adult, we see him leading a group of hunters, and we see Dean seeing him do that and letting him take the lead, we see him be a father to Jack (finally taking on a caretaker's role as Dean had done for him), we see him threaten and fight God himself, and we see him search for his own path, between the hunter's life that he actually loves (unlike Dean) and even Rowena's witchcraft, to some extent. And we finally see him having a meaningful love relationship again, with Eileen.
I am actually so proud of Sam and of how far he had come. Things could've been so great for him, if we hadn't had that horrible finale. We always say that Dean's ending was bad, and it is, but I honestly don't get people who say that Sam had it better, just because he survived. He's the one who got it worse actually. All of his development... gone. All of those promises of the happy life he could've gotten... gone.
He spent a whole life building a life that wasn't important (and i say that because that's how the episode framed it, and i could make a whole other post about this explaining why) just missing his brother after having lost everyone else he's ever loved. That's just horrible, especially when the show had made clear that the blurry wife life maybe wasn't what he really wanted after all.

Sometimes l can't believe how much I love anime and rn I'm so glad I gave it a try bc it really does make me happy
~ Now that I've watched a few, I made a list of how I'd recommend new watchers :)))
[ the ones with π are personal favorites]
------------------------> here we go :p
(These are mostly 12 - 13 episodes)
>> If you want something 10/10 that's not too long and can get you into it, some options are:
The promised neverland πππ
( this one's really clever and moving and has awesome characters, I love it sm)
Erased
( will keep u on the edge)
yuri on iceπ π
(light hearted, really gay ice skaters, you'll laugh and cry)
blue period π
(art students on distress!! complex characters )
spy x family
(u wouldn't expect something so wholesome to have spys and assassins on it)
>> if you'd like to start with a short romance anime (which is one of the best genres for anime in my opinion):
[all of these deserve a πππ tbh]
Bunny girl senpai
( cute couple but also involves many teen struggles through awesome concepts, trust me)
your lie in April
( classical musicians with a twist of depression! also they are children <\3 )
given
(teen- and - young adult-gay - angst - and- fluff!! They're also musicians but it's mostly the rock edition)
orange
(teenage friend group battling depression <\3 includes something like time traveling)
>>>if you'd like to watch a movie instead definetly watch
note: these are all romance/drama movies
A silent voiceπππ
( teen angst about bullying and diversity. Big focus on mental health. Heartbreaking beautiful masterpiece that will make you rethink your whole life)
your nameππ
(cinematic jewel, includes amazing supernatural concepts, a glimpse of Japanese culture and it's also beautifully animated)
weathering with youπ
( has a really really great story + beautifully animated)
whisper of the heartπ
( this one's ghibli, which means lots of aesthetic scenes, and sweet characters with great development)
From up on Poppy hill π
( also ghibli but add suspense )
bubbles
( really cool movie get some tissues tho, amazing animation)
----------->
Now some that aren't that short (mostly animes with 24-25 episodes don't worry)
>> Guaranteed masterpieces, haven't met a single being that disagrees:
Attack on Titanππππππ
(drama, action, romance, suspense, sociopolitical critique in a fictional world, it's got it all... this one has waaay more episodes than 25 but it's a must watch for everyone LITERALLY THE MOST IMPORTANT HERE
Banana fish πππ
(be ready to cry a lot, includes wide range of violence, drugs, crime, mental health issues and amazing characters. also a must watch imo)
Death Note
(personally don't see it as a HUGE masterpiece, but def a must watch I think. truly complex characters, keeps u on edge)
>> On these you'll fall in love with the characters and the unique plots :)
jujutsu kaisen π
(really cool characters, original power system. it's fun and exciting for nowπ let's just say when Manga is animated it won't be that fun anymore)
bungou stray dogsπ
(lots of dark humor, cool power system, characters are based on real literature authors and you'll become obsessed with them)
Tokyo revengersπ
(intense street fighters, gangs, betrayal, romance, mental health, time travel. HOT characters. the drama here is amazing)
Demon slayer
( filled with honest and heroic characters, messed up World, great animation)
>> If you'd like romance at its absolute finest
Fruits basket πππ
( takes a couple of episodes to unravel the actual story, but u just wait and you'll have one of the best drama with beautifully written and complex characters that carry a lot of trauma with them)
Kaguya-Sama π
(fun, clever and entertaining, these guys are the most competitive rivals)
toradora
( friends to lovers! won't say which friends tho π€« really emotional)
Darling in the Franxx
(science fiction romance anime, explores the innate traits of how human relationships and sexuality work + beautiful love story) -> (this one can be controversial: imo it's a very good representation sci-fi and anyone that can't help but emphasize on "its faults" should really read any sci-fi book from classic literature, just try to appreciate it as a whole concept rather than reducing it to romance) π

fairy lights or spot lighting (i am too old for dorm room vibes and that's what fairy lights evoke for me sorry!!)Β
ghost boyfriend or vampire lover (ok i don't like supernatural things but i am VERY anti blood-dripping-out-the-mouth imagery so vampires never had a chance)
hard sub or soft sub (i am still laughing @ quan for thinking this meant D/s dslgjhsdfjklgh i like soft subs bc font/opacity options!! hard subs are always that one outlined font from vlc and it's not the best)
stray cat or β¦ actually thatβs your only option (i have no idea what this means but what do u have against dogs?????)
Hawaiian shirt or blue shortsΒ (this is what i wear this is what teh wears there will be no further questions here)
evil ex-girlfriend or predatory fujoshiΒ (i h8 this question on principle)Β
suit jacket or leather jacketΒ
high school or universityΒ (surprisingly i love the teen angst nature of high school... university age is so... messy?)
kitchen drama or office drama (sadly and surprisingly i will have to say office)Β
forehead kisses or cheek kissesΒ (quan i can't believe u could choose cheek kisses after the iconic ATOTS forehead kiss scene)
Viki or GaGaOOLaLa (sorry indie queer media creators!! i love u still, but alas viki has so many kdramas)
Japanese arthouse depth or Korean high concept (i have no idea what this means and i'm too lazy to google it i'm sorry)
pink milk or yakult (i'm sorry yakult but condensed milk is the love of my life)
censored Chinese BL or trashy Thai pulps (ok admittedly i have never seen a chinese drama bc they're all so fucking long so this is the only reason i choose thai, also i'm not sure what a pulp is... is that like action-crime stuff???)
body swap or dead body (i don't understand... body swap is a trope but dead body is... not?? how are we comparing these)
sexy or story (i prefer to read my smut, so i expect high value plot and acting and production for my shows)
back hugs or lap sitting (back hugs!! idc for lap sitting)
piggyback or cradle carry (piggyback rides are so much cuter imo)
i'm not tagging anyone bc i have no idea who all is active anymore, also chances are quan probably already tagged u anyway

Anime recs (some of my personal faves, not the public opinion, obviously):
About sports:
-Haikyuu (I am caught all the way up to season 4 and I have never been more passionate about volleyball in my life, not even when I played it)
-Run the Wind (it's about running but also...friendship? and motivation to follow your dreams?? I mostly just recall relating to some of the lazier characters and sensing the brotherhood vibes. It feels slow at first, but if you get invested you realize that you've binged the whole thing.)
-Free! & Free! Eternal Summer (you wanna get emotional attached to a bunch of teenage swimmers? I don't know why all these sports animes are about guy groups, but here's one about some divas -I mean swimmers. Quite the lil quaint group of nuggets, I gotta tell ya.)
About magic/supernatural
-Sailor Moon (need I say more? She's our queen and we are never too old to watch her steadily turn from crybaby to warrior of the people. If you know, you know. FIGHTING EVEIL BY MOONLIGHT-!!)
-Avatar: the Last Airbender (technically counts as an anime. Holds my entire childhood, every personality trait I have...for sure came from characters in this show. Iconic. Never loses its charms. Lots of magical realism that is centered on the natural elements of the planet, some spiritualism too. Appa is reason enough to watch this show.)
-Legend of Korra (technically a sequel storyline to Avatar: the Last Airbender, but...it's SO DIFFE R E NT. I was at first put off by my lack of OG characters, but there are so many references embedded in there, and you get to meet everybody's kids and grandkids. Also Korra? The embodiment of female pride and power, nothing will forsake her for long. Kinda STRESSFUL how many obstacles the writers create in a single season...let alone 4.)
-Inuyasha (on oldie but a goodie. Technically the first anime I ever saw...*sigh* ah youth...Anyway, it'sset in feudal Japan, but there's time travel so you won't feel too out of place. There are of course demons and magical priestesses and demon hunters and cranky, frankly exhausted, old women. Has a quality plot line and great characters. There is a new sequel show airing about the future of the characters and their bloodlines, I've only seen an episode or two but the nostalgia alone made me want to weep.)
-Fairy Tail (a CLASSIC. It has magic and dragons and FAERIES and found family and is so loveably chaotic, also: hype af fight scenes)
-Soul Eater (another chaotic group of teens that fight impossible battles, the intro music always hits hard for nO rEASON, a little more blood and angst but not like not enough to cancel out the immense joy/annoyance that is Excalibur)
-Noragami (a new take on the concept of how gods are created, sad boi hours have started, wholesome main characters, the graphics are beautiful, some of the monsters can be a tad creepy - but I'm a wimp so it could just be me)
-Bungou Stray Dogs (I HAVE ADOPTED ATSUSHI. HE IS MY SON NOW, THANK YOU FOR COMING. The art style is one I enjoy, very crisp lines and a good variation in character designs. The protagonist is named Atsushi and he is a golden child who must be protected yet allowed to flourish at all times. There is detective work, some great fights, lots of random character flaws, OH and honey the story line is TWISTY!!)
-My Hero Academia/Boko no Hero Academia (this is the show where my broccoli son goes THROUGH IT literally the WHOLE TIME. A great story of the underdog, and the variety of characters and powers are...*chef's kiss*, makes me want to lowkey live in this universe but the amount of villians... gurl it'stoo much for my weak heart smh)
- Cannon Busters (okay, so I know people have mixed opinions on this one. Lemme say this: the intro and outro SLAP, point blank periodtt. The characters are diverse in color and abilities, it's like wild west meets technofuture meets medieval magic war times. The plotline is very all over the place, but hey it's the journey right. If you don't love SAM and Casey by the end of episode 1 you're doing it wrong.)
-BNA: Brand New Animal (the art style is so freaking cool yet cute we luv to see it. The world building is pretty good, basically it'slike Zootopia, but there are way more issues with this island o animals that have a human form half the time. Our main character is determined and just a tad naive, there is a wolf man with a pet crow and we're all okay with that)
-Sirius the Jaegar (straight up, I have no idea how my sister and I binged the whole show in like 2 days, but we did. Great fight scenes, the is blood but... that's because there are vampire-esque creatures also. The main character's childhood got done dirty, but go off on your origin story I guess.)
About slice of life:
- My Little Monster/Tonari no Kaibustu-kun (a wholesome high school romance with oddballs left and right, but you just wanna root for 'em y'know? A good wind down show. There's a chicken in it.)
- (Kaichou wa) Maid-Sama (an unconventional and lowkey erratic main heroine, the love interest seems weird but you'll adore him by the end, just simple high school shenanigans with ridiculously dramatic conflicts)
Phew, that was kinda long π but those are just some animes that I have watched thoroughly off the top off my head to give you a good variety of options. Let me know if you already have seem any of these. Hope this helps you fight off boredom and repetition. Please tell me your faves, I love hearing about new shows!! π€© (And btw, my sleep patterns wrecked, I've been going to sleep at like 3AM π
Hahaha, send help.)
love love LOVE THIS!! Thank you for sharing babe β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ i actually havenβt watched that much anime so iβm glad to get a rundown on some good recs!
also!! i feel u!! team no sleep ftw

im SICK OF THIS BULLSHIT
I. Last night. If I had fallen asleep when I tried to, and woken up to my alarm, I would have gotten 7-8 hours. Instead, I got 3. Then I went to work for 8 hours. Then I came home, ready to nap. And nothing. And now it is almost midnight and STILL fucking nothing. My anxiety is so high and my ED is raging. I'm so worried about my cats, school starts tomorrow and everything that happened last semester happened at the end and never got resolved. So I feel like everyone hates me and I don't want to go back. My stomach is cramping but I can't eat, and im certain that's part of why I feel so shitty. I tried munching on some baby carrots but I just can't do more than that rn. And im so stressed about my cats. My mom is going on vacation for 9 days and is planning to leave them alone. I keep trying to give her options to work with me to take care of them and now she's left me on read for 3 days. I'm just so fucking upset. And I'm so upset all the time lately I feel like a huge burden to anyone who still is friends with me and I don't even want to talk to anyone. I'm a shitty friend and all I do is disappoint. I can't......idk. all I'm doing is watching supernatural. earlier I was watching the destiel supercut but it kept pausing itself so I am now on a YouTube binge of destiel Taylor swift amvs. Meanwhile I posted about my cat situation to one of my private Facebook groups that gives advice and ppl are being really mean and saying that it's actually my fault bc I left them there. I already feel bad enough that I COULDNT take them and I COULDN'T stay there. I know logically I couldn't have done anything different but it still haunts me and it was really, really fucking hurtful to have someone genuinely voice the same opinion as the voice in my head. I feel so sick and horrible and nothing feels like it'll ever be okay again.
I know I've felt this bad before and it will pass but right now it feels like I've never felt this bad before and it feels like I'll never be happy again. I can't remember feeling anything but what I'm feeling now basically, and what I'm feeling now is unbearable. And I know I have friends that care but the thing is that I need medical attention for my serious mental disorders, and I've called so many places and none will take me. It's like walking around w a broken leg- ur friends can carry u places, push ur wheelchair, bring u stuff when it hurts. But they can't fix ur broken leg. But in this analogy, it's like I'm going to the doctor and the doctor is like ah fuck your leg is BROKEN broken. You should see someone about that. And that's the response of every fucking doctor everywhere. And my friends hate seeing me with a broken leg but they can't keep carrying me around. And I can't let them. But the alternative is to just sit down and rot
