𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘫𝘰𝘩𝘯𝘯𝘺 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘩 — 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘯𝘴
𝘫𝘰𝘩𝘯𝘯𝘺 "𝘴𝘰𝘢𝘱" 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘹 𝘧!𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳
— 𝘴𝘧𝘸 & 𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘸
ʚ⁺˖ everyone has that inner child in them that wants to be nurtured by their partner, and Johnny actively seeks that out in a person
ʚ⁺˖ he is not immature, clingy, or needy—he just wants to be with someone who makes him feel safe enough to just be him and be in that soft, little boy energy sometimes
ʚ⁺˖ i think that Johnny was a bit of a popular boy in high school. the nice kind who was a bit hyperactive and the class clown and probably got voted to be homecoming court king just because he was just funny and everyone liked him…
ʚ⁺˖ really fucking naughty too. was definitely having mini little science experiments with gunpowder, matches, and fireworks in the backyard with his brothers as a kid!!! he was blowing things up even before he got an education and license for it
ʚ⁺˖ but he was also one of those kids who everyone liked but he was kind of always distant… untouchable. it was always like he was focused on bigger brighter things—wanted to join the sas asap and wanted to grow up faster than everyone else.
ʚ⁺˖ he was that kind of senior that you had a crush on in high school but knew you had no chance because his attention was just elsewhere—not like he was mean at all. he was always kind and didn’t judge others, but he wanted an unconventional path that was different than most. he was also that kind of senior who would be friends with anyone… even if they were “weird”. he didn't care because he was focused on other things, so lots of social norms/constraints didn’t really register half the time in his brain.
ʚ⁺˖ really fucking smart too. too smart. he was outsmarting his teachers since elementary school. not super book smart, doesn’t know all these specific facts, but he just understands. really high social iq as well!! everyone thinks that he lives too fast, that he’s funny, that he’s a bit brash and rough around the edges, but inside, he’s actually very in-tune with his surroundings—people’s energy, your energy
ʚ⁺˖ because of his hyperactivity in high energy situation with lots of people, lots of things going on, he needs that safe space to just unwind and be like :]
ʚ⁺˖ this :] literally embodies johnny when he’s content with you—his pretty little safe space. especially because he wanted to grow up so fast, join sas as soon as he possibly could, and probably grew up in a catholic family with quite a bit of kids, his inner child didn’t get much attention.
ʚ⁺˖ once this man notices you for who you are on the inside, how nurturing and calm you can be, how you can see his inner child, he is head over heels. head over heels. obsessed, obsessed, obsessed.
ʚ⁺˖ doesn’t really know what to do with himself and builds up all this nervous, slidey energy around you. like all his insides are sliding around too much and he just needs to anchor himself to something (you).
ʚ⁺˖ didn’t date much when he was younger but enjoyed one-night stands every now and then, never anything serious. didn’t think he really wanted anything serious. he had seen his siblings and their families and was content with remaining a proud uncle of ten (or more). suddenly, after meeting you, and all your softness, something about it innocent and carefree, he didn’t know what to do.
ʚ⁺˖ it was like everything he hadn’t really experienced in his early 20s—that first, serious relationship that most of his childhood friends went through in college—came rushing to him.
ʚ⁺˖ his first instinct is to get close to you—become friends first. he’s the type that wants to have a really natural connection so that the line between lover and friends is blurred. not in a bad, miscommunication way. just a natural, this feels so right way.
ʚ⁺˖ he’s intuitive, remember? thinks with his own different kind of logic that most people would find confusing or a little strange if they really noticed it which isn’t so easy under his funny, easygoing exterior… not you though. he knew you thought of his unique mind as endearing, because no matter how many more vulnerable sore spots he revealed to you, you wouldn’t even flinch. you’d just give him that pretty smile and reassure him and he'd be obsessed all over again.
ʚ⁺˖ he also wants a fun lover! wants to have fun and crack jokes!! you guys probably have two and a half million inside jokes that are way too much to unpack for others to understand. even if you’re not a naturally talkative, outgoing, or joking kind of person, the conversations Johnny will take you down are always strange, strange rabbit holes that draw out the most fun discussions you’ve ever had. he has chemistry with almost anyone, but you especially because he’s just fascinated.
ʚ⁺˖ starts giving you pet names once you become closer friends. bonnie, bonnie lass, kitty, or kitty cat. if anyone in 141 calls you kitty cat/kitty, it’s definitely Johnny. “hey little kitty cat.” “how’s my little kitty cat doin’ today? hm? yeah, bonnie? tell me about yer day. ” over the phone…
ʚ⁺˖ soon enough your hangouts becomes more intimate and personal. it’s a little confusing because you’re friends but you’re not?? but every time you’re with him, all that confusion just melts away, because it’s just him. Johnny. you’re very comfortable with one another—does it even really matter if you define your relationship with him?
ʚ⁺˖ watching movies cuddled on the couch, sharing shitty ramen recipes and having whole-ass mock cooking shows at 2am for shits and giggles, wriggling into each other’s beds during a sleepover, facetiming a lot, you’re practically attached at the hip virtually and not. all your friends are onto you immediately, sniffing out this newfound “friend” like hounds. it’s obvious to everyone else that you can’t possibly just be friends… but how obvious is that to you? not much.
ʚ⁺˖ a touchy boyfriend friend. can definitely imagine a lazy weekend when he stayed over at your place on the couch after a long night of binging movies or k-dramas, and in the morning, he’s at the entrance of your bedroom, yawning and stretching out like a cat and shamelessly shirtless, much to your enjoyment embarrassment. jokingly asks if he can join you, because you just look so cute and comfortable curled up in those sheets like a little kitty cat, and when you say yes, he’s over in a flash, burrowing in the warm blankets beside you, all content like :] while watching your sleepy face.
ʚ⁺˖ brushes away the hairs from your face and you whisper back and forth in the soft morning hours, letting him gently peck at the soft places on your face when he wants. till one day, just like any other day, you’re laying in bed and he’s gently pecking at your face, forehead, nose, eyelids, cheeks, and then the corner of your mouth, and you gently turn your head and his soft lips are on yours, bristly beard grating against your chin. but you don’t mind it in the way he’s kissing you so deliciously, tongue sliding between your lips as he crawls over you and cages you beneath his weight.
nsfw
ʚ⁺˖ the thing that would spur you over that thin line from friends to lovers was the incessant want you had for each other
ʚ⁺˖ Johnny more than anything. can’t get enough of you—sometimes gets hard just at the thought of you, which is embarrassing because he feels like he can’t control himself when it happens
ʚ⁺˖ during long months away from his favorite kitty cat, touches himself to the thoughts of your pretty smile and soft skin in breathy gasps, eventually caving in when he got too desperate and called you and felt so so so bad for lying to his sweet little kitty over the phone.
ʚ⁺˖ “are you alright, Johnny?” you’d ask him, brow furrowed and lip caught between your teeth at the sound of his strange, husky gasps over the phone. and he just grunts back, “mhmm. m’perfect kitty, just keep talkin’ to me. jus’ like that.”
ʚ⁺˖ it wasn’t like it was just one-sided. while Johnny is a very, very eager lover with a crazy high sex drive just for you, you’d been suffering from the same side effects. lingering in the same close-knit spaces when he was on leave, his scent lingered on different things—your pillows, bedsheets, clothes, and just the smell of him was enough to make you squirm and get you all dripping wet. sometimes it gets so bad to the point where you humped a pillow that smelled like him, thinking about how much you ached for the burly, warm muscle of his bare body sliding against yours in bed when you cuddled.
ʚ⁺˖ sometimes, when he was over at your place, tangled with him after a particularly hot summer night, you’d wake up with your clothes half-stripped off and Johnny almost naked just behind you, the strong muscle of his chest digging into your bare shoulder blade. it was embarrassing, realizing that you had done that in the middle of the night without even realizing it. and when you tried to slide out of the sheets to discreetly pull up your shorts again and put on a shirt, he’d growl, pulling your back into the blankets and not even caring how bare you were, one burly arm beneath your head and the other around your waist, fingertips sliding up to rest in the place right between your tits, but not touching.
ʚ⁺˖ his morning voice would be all gravely by your ear, teasing, “my little kitty get hot last night?” when you would start squirming in his arms in protest, half-mewling for him to let go, but not really wanting him to let go, he’s just chuckle, his hips flush to your ass and grinding lazy circles of his morning wood into your plush flesh. “s’alright, kitty, just relax.”
ʚ⁺˖ and when you finally do fuck, after long heady months of endless teasing, lingering touches and a blatant amount of skin on display for each other, Johnny suffering a record amount of blue-balls in your presence and the sweet smell of you making him downright dizzy, you’d be fucking like rabbits—Johnny going round after round after round and making you wonder if he had a refractory period at all.
ʚ⁺˖ so so so desperate and fast and rough, hand snaking in your hair and pushing your head down into the mattress as his strong hips snap against your ass, other hand snaking down your stomach to rub too fast circles against your clit.
ʚ⁺˖ he can be soft—naturally is rough. spits on your cunt and in your mouth, pulls your hair, slaps your ass and watches with a greediness the way it creates addicting little ripples over your skin. loves turning your ass cheeks a pretty shade of pink. loves your ass in general—always groping it in private, doing discrete little grabs in public. fucks your mouth too, thick cock head against the back of your throat as he wipes away your tears and coos, praising you for being his good little kitty cat, with suck a fuckable throat and pretty little swollen, fuckable lips. s’yer fault yer such a fuckin’ tease. his head tips back when you swallow around his pulsing head.
ʚ⁺˖ does sweet little check-ins while making you see stars. soft pecks against your lips, kissing away any tears, brushing his fingers over your hair softly sometimes. just to make sure you’re alright while he’s fucking you so good and rough and overstimulating you till you can’t even talk and you’re just babbling for more while his thick, dripping cock is rutting into you and his hand is squeezing around your throat, letting out low, throaty grunts and groans—just the way he know you love it. loves degrading you too. you’re his sweet little slut, his sweet little whore, pretty little slag. for no one but him. absolutely no one.
ʚ⁺˖ and oooh this man is possessive. the most possessive in 141 (me thinks). can’t stand it when men are even in your vicinity—not because he isn’t confident. he very much is. it’s super sexy to you, too, the way he carries himself with a straight posture and big, broad shoulders. he’s just so so so protective over his sweet little kitty cat. can’t have these awful men corrupting you :( that’s exclusively for him!
ʚ⁺˖ but when he is feeling for a softer round… or maybe you are… it’s usually after you’ve been fucking rough for hours and he’s begging you for just one more, pretty, lifting your leg up and slipping his hard, pulsing cock into your puffy, swollen cunt while you whine and cry, tears spilling down your cheeks.
ʚ⁺˖ he’ll fuck you lazily on his side just like that, arm wrapped around your waist while the other massages soothing circles into your twitching clit, shushing you softly as you half-sob, whispering kind things in your ear.
ʚ⁺˖ “so good for me, kitty. need ye te come one more time. can’t ye do that for me? hm, kitty cat? aye, i know ye can, i ken you will, bonnie. just for me. aye, you can do it, there ye go, just like that, such a good lass takin’ this thick cock—” babbling incessantly into your ear, coaxing you through your last bone-shaking orgasm, little mewls falling from your lips as he presses his cock right up to your swollen cervix, stuffing liquid warmth into your womb.
ʚ⁺˖ and once he’s spent, sperm effectively drained from his tight, throbbing balls, he’ll smile at you in victorious satisfaction, kissing all over you in sweet little apologies for how rough he’s been with you. sometimes he’ll pay special attention to the puffy lips of your pussy, kissing them and then suckling on your clit, enjoying the way you squirm with overstimulation, whimpering soft little no mores and he’ll pull away with a smirk, amused with the cute little pout on your face.
ʚ⁺˖ then, he’ll crawl back over you, wrapping you up in his strong arms, feeling absolutely content that he won’t be sharing you—his sweet, gorgeous little safe space—with any other person in the entire world :]

I know you were pretty checked out already by this point, but what were your thoughts on Deku’s conclusion in the last chapter?
Some good ideas, but even the good aspects of his conclusion sadly feel bogged down by poor execution/characterization + literally everything that led up to the final chapter.
I do think Izuku becoming a teacher was probably the most fitting ending for his character as a whole, but tbh, I would have taken it a step further and had him become an elementary school/middle school teacher rather than a teacher at UA.
That is to say: Izuku working at UA-- a highly exclusive school that only accepts "the best of the best" and children who are already on track to becoming heroes-- sadly makes him inaccessible to the type of students who need him most, I feel? His chance meeting with Dai only reinforces that tbh. If that child hadn't tripped or if Izuku hadn't happened to be right there, Dai would would still be feeling miserable and discouraged because no one in his class bothered to stand up for him-- Not even his own teacher. Like I understand the purpose of the scene (to parallel Toshi's first meeting with Izuku and show that Izuku is now inspiring others to be heroes in the same way) but that doesn't stop it from feeling more manipulative than truly heartfelt imho, bc Dai's existence only highlights the issues still deeply ingrained in hero society rather than inspiring any sort of hope for its future lmfao.
Anyway! Back to teacher Izuku-- I do love the idea of Izuku becoming someone who would have helped his child self! (and who could've possibly stepped in to help children like Tenko, Himiko, and Touya) (Honestly, kindergarten teacher Izuku is also a possibility that makes me go 👀👀👀). But again, him teaching at UA specifically kind of undermines the idea of him becoming hero for children like himself (or tenko/himiko/touya/etc). I think that the scene with Dai could have worked a lot better (or at least felt more emotionally genuine) with Izuku as his actual teacher, maybe?
I also think Izuku as a kindergarten/elementary school/middle school teacher (or any sort of educator outside of a hero course, really truly #beatingthatdeadhorse) would have eased the sting from how deeply and terribly the finale fumbled his dynamic with Tenko, too— Izuku actually reflecting on how AFO completely abused his position as Tenko's "teacher," and then resolving to become the sort of teacher that Tenko needed.... Izuku using what he learned from Tenko’s past to better identify abused children and using his new position/power in society to advocate for them/get them out of those situations early.... framing it this way would have really sold the “I’ll never forget him” promise, bc as it stands now, that promise ultimately just comes across as more hollow lip service from Izuku. ☠️
As for Iron Deku... if I'm being honest, it just doesn’t hit the same way for me as Iron Might did? Like I've gone into detail on why Iron Might works for me before both here and on twitter:
Iron Might worked for me because it was ultimately used as a vehicle to tell/complete Toshi's story and helped tie together the underlying themes that connected him to Tenko and AFO's arcs. Like it might not have been perfectly implemented bc Hori decided to make it an 11th hour surprise for the sake of building hype/suspense in the readers, but this combination of factors still made Iron Might work for me. Iron Might itself was not the answer to "can someone w/o a quirk be a hero like you?," Toshi's willingness to act when no one else was able to was the answer. He retains his heroic shading even after the armor is stripped away and after he's left entirely at AFO's mercy.
At the same time/Conversely.... I feel like "Iron Deku" just muddies the overall message of the series in the end:
Again, Toshinori's answer to "Can someone without a quirk be a hero like you" wasn't Iron Might-- It was "Yes, because you always work hard and never give up on your dreams/because you're someone who could never let his dream die."
......... only for Izuku to more or less let said dream die after losing his quirk. Like????? (like, another big problem with heroaca's tone is that it keeps trying to prop Izuku up as "someone who never gives up" when he does, in fact, end up giving up in some fairly big ways with some fairly big consequences-- Like, even though the series tries to skirt around saying it outright, Izuku did ultimately give up on saving Tenko and chose to treat him as collateral to AFO. Like... it's okay to have your protagonist get discouraged/give up, but in cases like this, I expect the narrative to actually acknowledge it as such instead of trying to convince the reader otherwise. Attempting to gloss over Izuku's failure with sugary-sweet platitudes after the series spent 400+ chapters deriding platitudes and defining actual true saving as "saving their their hearts and their lives" is the type of shit that results in a complete breakdown of trust between the author/reader.)
At any rate, yeah. Izuku's conclusion had a few good ideas that were sadly weighed down by poor/rushed execution and mixed/unclear messaging-- and sadly, the epilogue/final chapter did nothing to fix the huge problems with his character writing throughout the entirety of Act 3. It's a shame bc Act 1 & 2 (and even early Act 3) Izuku really was one of my favorite characters, but at some point his writing took a complete nose dive that Hori sadly wasn't able to pull out of. :/

Info for writer in Thai series fandom: Mismatch bits and pieces.
All things too short to have their own ch.
A way to call a class
I noticed that when I read about a class of students in English, it was called by the year that class graduated, which is different from how it is in Thai. In Thailand, we count a class based on the school they are in. For example, Pat and Pran from Bad Buddy are in Class 36th. That means there are students who have already graduated from this school in total 35th generation, and they are the 36th.
Education system
อนุบาล-anuban-Nursery
3 years
about 3-5 years old
The class number is typically written as อ.year/room number or simply year/room number, with the assumption that anyone who will need to use the number is aware that they are for nusery.
อ. is the abbreviation of อนุบาล-anuban-Nursery (ป. for prathom and ม. for matyom. Read aloud as Or, Por, and Mor, respectively.)
If you're in the third year, the first room, it can be written as อ.3/1
ประถม-prathom-Elementary school
6 years
can be divided into 2 parts, 3 years each, prathom ton(ต้น-first) and prathom plai(ปลาย-last)
about 6-11 years old
มัธยม-matyom-Secondary school
6 years
can be divided into 2 parts, 3 years each, matyom ton and matyom plai
After matyom ton, one can choose to continue studies in matyom plai or switch to vocational classes. At present, the choice of vocational education is not very popular among families with wealth, and there is some negative bias.
about 12-17 years old
มหาลัยวิทยาลัย-mahawitthayalai-University
Usually 4, but this can vary depending on what you study.
*Most schools in Thailand have 2 semesters.
From nursery to secondary school, it usually like this:
Semester 1 starts around mid-May and ends in late September or early October.
Semester 2 starts around the beginning of November and ends in late February or early March.
At the university, it is usually like this:
Semester 1 starts around September and ends in December.
Semester 2 starts around February and ends in May.
But it may change if there is an announcement from the Ministry of Education.
*There are 9 years of compulsory education. From prathom to matyom ton.
Money
Thai Baht bank notes are divided into five denominations: 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 baht, which are sometimes referred to by their colors: 20-green, 50-blue, 100-red, 500-purple, and 1,000-gray(1,000 baht banknotes are actually more brown than gray, but maybe because brown 10 baht notes were used before, or the 1,000 baht notes might have used to be grayish, they are called this way.) As for coins, we have 1, 2, 5, 10 baht and 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 satang. One hundred satang is one baht. Satang is not used much, and if we do use it, we will mostly use only the 25 and 50 satang coins.
System of measurement
The metric system is the most popular. Other systems will be used if the topic requires it, such as using tea spoon and cup when baking or using Thai measurement for gold weight and land.
Meal
In Thai we have the word กับข้าว-kapkhao, which is things to eat with rice. When we eat it, it's commonly with many people, and we share it together, not somebody's in particular. At each meal, the kapkhao and the rice will be placed on the table for everyone to scoop up and put on their own plate. If you eat with someone you are not super close to, then you should have an extra utensil for scooping up kapkao and rice as to not make the other party uncomfortable. As for when you eat with friends, I would recommend using it also, but it is up to your group of friends' hygiene standards.
Grounded
Disclaimer:this is my perspective as a daughter of a family in Bangkok.
Getting grounded by one's own parents as a punishment is not a real concept here. I'm quite sure about that. Like, it's kind of redundant? Most of us already have to tell our parents all about where we go, when we will be back and with whom before we go out, and if they don't want us to go, then we don't. Plus, our public transportation wasn't that covered, so if a kid who still can't drive and lives far from it wants to go out, then having parents drop off and pick up after is kind of the only option. It's not like normally we are free to go out whenever.
Gap year
Taking a gap year wasn't the norm. It is often seen as a waste of time, and the people who did it might get gossip that they had to do it because they couldn't pass the exam.
Colors of the day
We have a color for each day, which came from a tale about Songkran, and it is common knowledge. Thus, when we want to color code something day-related, we use it and assume people will understand. A bakery company, Farmhouse, had been color-coding a bag sealer as a sign to tell what day their bread was put on shelves since 1987.
Sunday – Red
Monday –Yellow
Tuesday – Pink
Wednesday – Green
Thursday – Orange
Friday – Blue
Saturday – Purple
Year
We use both the Buddhist era (BE) and the Christian era. Sometimes we choose one to write down and sometimes we write them both side by side, Thai numerals for BE on one line and Arabic numerals for CE on another. But if it's an official document, it's more likely to be only BE.
This year(2022) is 2565 BE.
Tip
Tiping is not part of our culture. Nowadays, some people have begun to start tipping due to the influence of other cultures, and there are both positive and negative opinions about that. Some say extra money is definitely a good thing, but some say if we started tipping people, the employer might see it as an opportunity to reduce their employee payment.
Chinatown
There are no words that translate directly into "Chinatown" in Thailand. Each neighborhood is usually called by its street name or landmark near it, and those Chinatown are that way too. The most popular one in Bangkok was called Yaowarat.
Move out
Not moving out of one's own parent's house is normal. Moving out is normal too, but from what I know, nobody will expect their kids to move out for no reason. Some families even dislike that very idea. Like, if you want to move out for no other reason than you just want to, there must be something wrong.
One of my friends who has a big family and really wants to try to live alone for once, but can't say so because her mother will surely be upset, is now planning to apply for something that requires her to stay somewhere else, so she can use that as the reason she has to move out.
Insect as a snacks
While it is a thing we do have, it's not that popular. Many have never eaten it before. Many eat it once just to try it and never again. There's a good chance that there's no one at all in a room full of people who eats fried insects on a regular basis. It's not exactly rare, but also not something that sells everywhere.
Don’t touch the head
Is something I heard many foreigners talk about Thai people, and I guess, while it might be something they were told by a Thai, it got exaggerated. Sure! You shouldn't go around touching strangers' heads. But that's just common sense, right? Why would anyone think they could touch any part of a stranger at all? For a close person, it's a completely different thing, and don't forget, everybody has a different and will have different boundaries!
Touching monks
It's not that women can't touch monks, it's that monks can't touch women, and we cooperate with them to make it easier for them to stay in the precepts.
Religion
The religion in Thailand consists of about 94% Buddhists, about 4% Muslims, about 1% Christians, and the rest are others. It can be seen that there are more Muslims than Christians, but Christians are mentioned slightly more in the entertainment media in my opinion.
Month
The name of the month in Thai can tell which month has how many days. Months with 30 days end with "Yon(ยน)", months with 31 days end with "Kom(คม)", and February ends with "Phan(พันธ์)".
Christmast
Although Christians are not the majority in Thailand, we do have some Christmas celebrations. The mall will play some Christmas songs and sell decorations or other Christmas-themed items, for example. It might not be that big, but it's there.
My mother says that we Thais will take every chance to have a festival and a celebration. Lol
Dishwasher
Dishwashers aren't a popular household item. I don't know the reason.
Age
Age of majority
In Thailand, one will reach their majority at 20 years old, but you can become majority before 20 after your lawful marriage, which can occur with legal guardian permission at 17 or older, or, in a special case, when you are younger than 17 but older than 15, and there is a reasonable cause for marriage and the court grants the permission.
Age of consent
Doing something indecent to someone who is under the age of 15 is illegal, regarding that person's consent. As for someone who is more than 15 but still under 18, it will need both that person and their legal guardian's consent to be legal. If one of them gave consent, it is still illegal. If both parties are under age, then they are both in the wrong and can both be sued by each other's parents.
Driving license
The applicant for a temporary personal motorcycle license must be at least 18 years of age, but if it is for a motorcycle with a total cylinder of not more than 110 cubic centimeters, it must be at least 15 years of age.
A temporary car driver's licensee must be at least 18 years of age.
Public-car and public-tricycle licensees must be at least 22 years of age.
A public motorcycle licensee must be over the age of 20.
A road roller, a tractor, and other driving licensee under section 43 must be at least 18 years of age.
Floods
Floods are the most common natural disasters in Thailand.
Transportation
In Bangkok, there are a few choices for in-town transportation. such as Bts, Mrt, buses, mini buses, taxis, tuk tuks and motorcycles. As for travel between provinces, there are trains, tour buses, vans, and airplanes. Once arriving in other provinces, public transport options vary from area to area but are often more limited than in Bangkok.
Insect screens
Typically, windows are equipped with insect screens. They can be hinged, sliding rails, or something else, but they are usually there.
Apparently, in some places, they are not typically installed. I'm a bit culture shocked. Do you usually have it or not? If not, could you tell me what it is like?
Social media
Facebook currently has some reputation for being an old people's platform but is still popular.
Twitter is also quite popular.
Line is the most popular one for chat apps. It is something you will need to have if you need to communicate with a lot of Thais. Many people complain about how it's not a good way to send files for work or that it makes it hard to separate between private time and work time, but it still maintains its status as being the main means of communication in offices and universities.
Tiktok is gaining many new users during the quarantine.
COVID 19
I searched in English for a bit and think you could find information such as daily cases or any regulations easily enough. As for the Thai people's opinion in general, we can sum it up by saying that many of us have no confidence in our government.
and here are some details:
We have worn a mask for PM 2.5 since before COVID-19 broke out and many will likely still wear it until we are sure there is no COVID left.
Vacine distribution is not very consistent and thorough. So, at the same time, there is someone who gets their third vaccination and someone who hasn't gotten their first yet.
After COVID-19, no-contact deliveries have become extremely popular.
Y
The first queer media that gained popularity in Thailand were Japanese manga and anime. So we adopt the Japanese term "yaoi" for BL and "yuri" for GL, and that is the reason why we usually call queer series "series Y" in Thai.

✰ So, Jackie is a hard one. She's the kind of girl who goes into school thinking she's got the world figured out, only to realize that no, she doesn't, and get hit with quite a rude awakening
✰ She'd go in choosing something rather ambitious, having a hard time with it, and possibly taking a gap year to figure herself out
✰ Ultimately, I could see her as an early education major. She didn't think it would be something she'd enjoy, but to her surprise, she does, and eventually, once she graduates she becomes a kindergarten teacher at Wiskayok Elementary
Laura Lee
✰ Laura Lee Is so dedicated to her religion, and I have to have respect for that. But I could easily see her going into youth ministry with a degree in theology and possibly a minor in religion studies
✰ However, I could also see her minoring in music because of her piano! While she doesn't like her teacher much, I really do think Laura Lee enjoys the piano itself and I could see her leading a youth choir in her church
✰ She's definitely working in a progressive church. personally, I think she was raised to be more conservative, but in a world where she gets to go to college and grow more away from her family, she developed her own opinions and becomes a far more open person, viewing god as someone far more excepting then what she was initially taught
Lottie
✰ I fully see Lottie going to college knowing from the start that she wants to study teaching/education. She'd go back and forth about wanting to teach little kids and older kids, but she'd ultimately settle on teaching middle schoolers
✰ I could see her being an English teacher or possibly a history teacher! She loves connecting with kids and giving them a voice and lending an ear, especially with them being at such a frustrating age
✰ I can also see her minoring in French! Yes, Lottie isn't supposed to be good at French, but I think that's a complete lie. If her school doesn't have a French program, she'd 100% start an after-school club or run summer classes for students interested in learning
Misty
✰ I could see Misty sticking with nursing, but she's also a giant theater kid. She seems like the type to go to a small liberal arts school for musical theater or improve with huge dreams of acting on stage
✰ I really think she'd find a great community in a theater/arts program because even though she's always gonna be a weirdo, she'll definitely find more weirdos to be her friends (this is coming from someone who has theater majors as friends)
✰ This could be some of my own self-projecting, but I think she'd get really involved in the nightlife of college and eventually frequent the drag scene with her friends. She's also always going to rocky horror. Ultimately that's how she realizes she's gay
Natalie
✰ I think the only way Natalie is going to school is on a full-ride scholarship, but even then, college doesn't seem like her thing. I could see her following one/some of the girls to their college campus to screw around and figure herself out, living some of the college life without actually going to school
✰ Natalie would try to pursue a music career, no questions asked. She's shown to have a love for music and she already looks like a rock star, so it just makes the most sense for her. She'll crash on couches, eventually getting her own apartment while she writes her own music and I think she could eventually really take off
✰ she'd get a band together and eventually tour, writing music kinda along the lines of classic rock and grunge with some riot girl in the mix. Think pearl jam, foo fighters, and le tigre (all great groups that I highly recommend)
Shauna
✰ Shauna is 100% getting a Literary Arts degree, no questions asked. Or an English degree with a focus on creative writing
✰ She gets to explore herself, take her semester abroad in Paris like she'd hoped, and eventually she becomes a New York Times bestseller for her works of poetry
✰ She'd also delve into fiction and I could even see some of her work getting turned into limited series or films eventually. She's quite humble and lives a quiet life, though she enjoyed being in the spotlight for her work
Taissa
✰ I still think Tai would study law and become a Lawyer and potentially still go into politics. But part of me kinda wants to say she'd take an interest in environmental science and possibly become an environmental lawyer?
✰ I really don't know why I thought of that, but I think it would be really interesting for her. I think she'd still end up with Simone and Sammy and she'd go to New York for work a lot of the time
✰ If she did run for office again, she'd have a heavy focus on environmental conservation. I could also see her getting into National Park works
Van
✰ So, originally I kinda thought Van would be a dropout, which sounds bad, but I was thinking about her store. But then I realized that she'd only got her store because she was stuck trying to relive her life before the crash, so no crash, no store
✰ Ultimately, she's a film major. She's either getting a film studies or production degree. Van loves movies and would want to get involved with that world, creating movies like what she grew up watching, like The Goonies and Alien
✰ She absolutely hates remakes and remasters, so if she's directing or writing her own films, they're going to be originals that still hold the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck at the 72nd Academy Awards' Vanity Fair party
Ben Affleck (right, with Matt Damon) returns the favor after female fans outside Vanity Fair's mixer at Morton's go weak in the knees.
Someone should send Erin Brockovich to check the water in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A couple of guys who grew up there, two blocks apart, have both turned into classic screen idols — the kind of A-listers who move easily between sci-fi blockbusters, romantic comedies and high-toned dramas. As screenwriters, they've won Oscars for Good Will Hunting, in which they also starred. You might say that Matt Damon, 29, and Ben Affleck, 27, pictured here at the Vanity Fair post-Oscar party in March, have done everything but go their separate ways. Their immense loyalty is part of the turn-on. Back in the day, Damon and his older brother, Kyle, were raised by their mother, a professor of early childhood education at Lesley College in Cambridge, who divorced their stockbroker father in 1973. Affleck was born in California but moved to Cambridge when he was in grade school, with his father, now a drug counselor; his mother, an elementary school teacher; and his younger brother, Casey, who is also an actor. Which of the friends is a bigger heartthrob? Armageddon producer Jerry Bruckheimer says of Affleck: "Women want to be with him and men want to be like him." But the boys do their best to confuse the issue. Even their love lives are intertwined — Damon met his girlfriend, Winona Ryder, through Gwyneth Paltrow, Affleck's best girl. But the guys are more straight-arrow than the women they date. Talented Mr. Ripley director Anthony Minghella once said of Damon, "There's something so apple-pie about him. You know he was the best-looking kid in school and dated the most popular girl." Not if Affleck could help it.

do you have any alex xanatos headcanons?
Yes! I'll divide them in to childhood and adulthood. A lot of my childhood head-canons come from the fact that he grew up in the late 90s - early 00s. Here's a few:
Childhood (1996-2014)
I think the Family Xanatos celebrated holidays Alex showed interest in. He grew up celebrating Easter with a mix of secular aspects, paganism, and fae (old world) traditions (think more of a turning of the seasons, renewal after winter, etc. than something directly related to Christian theology).
I think Alex's favorite musical artist in middle school was Lady Gaga; pop is his favorite music genre and he made sure to be at as many concerts of her as he could manage (physically and magically)
Alexander accidentally hurts someone he cares about with his magic at some point.
He doesn't have any siblings but desperately wants them, and adopts the Gargoyle hatchlings as his brothers and sisters
He doesn't want to use the tech his parents make at Xanatos Enterprises. It's just not cool! (to kids his age)
Alex has a variety of school experiences growing up, because his parents are trying to give him the most well-rounded education they can buy with their billions while also being active in his life. This results in him being a very busy child. When he's in elementary age (4k-11) he's enrolled in a private day-time school, pretty typical. In middle school (12-13) he spends his weekdays at a STEM-focus boarding school and comes home on the weekends. After he completely masters teleportation I think he'd spend his high school years (14-17) going to a public school or arts-focused charter somewhere like Los Angeles or Seattle; west coast for certain, and because of the time difference he's able to maintain tutors on other specific subjects they don't teach in school. And of course, magic lessons with Puck.
He ultimately grows up to be a good person; better by the standards of the Manhattan Clan than Xanatos, Fox, and OwenPuck are considered to be. Knowing what others think about his parents causes a deep sense of conflict in him as he grows older. He was raised to be pragmatic, confident, and ambitious - but was also raised by people who genuinely respected his feelings and treated him with love and kindness. He knows it's better to be realist but has a hard time reconciling some of their more nefarious plans with the parents he loves. I think this causes a break between them at some point, though they come back together eventually.
Adulthood (2015-XXXX)
I think Alex has multiple long-term partners over the course of his life, but fathers no children. I think this will be his reality unless the Gathering ends within his lifetime.
Alex is bisexual and really figures this out at uni (yay)
Alex attends a university in the UK (for the first time)
He makes the most out of his longevity and academics; by 2100 he's earned doctorates in history, economics, political science, sociology, and literature. He has master's degrees in more.
His job at the UN in 2198 is his first political office

ps sorry if this is cringy or dumb also this is kind of a filler chapter but i think im only gonna write 3 chapters? not sure yet also not sure when i’ll write chapter 3
wc: 900~1000
There is a moment in everyone’s life when they learn a valuable lesson that sticks with them forever but ever since I was young I felt like there was an invisible force that impeded me from being able to find love (maybe from being able to find happiness altogether)
Basically, I think I’m never going to find love, and I think I’m fine with that now. Maybe I've just accepted it. It feels like the world has bigger problems than whether or not I find love. So instead of putting all my energy into something that is never going to happen, I focused more on my career, and when that wasn't enough, I decided to go to grad school.
Unfortunately, it seemed that my grad school nest egg was not as plentiful as I thought since about 90 percent into my continued education journey. I found myself having to move back to my childhood home in the small boring town of Fort Chicken.
It's just one summer
I kept having to reassure myself. I needed to. There was no way I had spent as long as I did doing everything in my power to avoid being like the rest of the populous of Fort Chicken who seemed to be stuck here by an invisible social force.
I’m only here for one more summer
So I made the best of a bad situation, I found some temporary employment with what turned out to be a very socially outgoing group of people. I wasn’t really the type to overindulge in the company of others nonetheless it seemed a much better option than just sulking around and brood about being back in my hometown.
Thankfully, fairly early into the summer, my coworkers and I found our summer's saving grace: a little bar a couple of blocks away from Ft. Chicken Elementary. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was able to flourish socially, and it was so exciting. I suppose it could be attributed to Fort. Chicken's lack of new people or people who have left Fort. Chicken and come back. Things like that always create a bit of a buzz in small towns.
Going to the bar every Friday became a fun little routine, it allowed me to sit and talk and feel like a social butterfly. I learned to love this weekly ritual, quickly becoming acquainted with all the other regulars and the employees. So when a group of people I had never seen before showed up at the bar, my interest was quickly piqued.
“Hey, who are we starin' at” I heard followed by a silence by the group. Out of curiosity I quickly glance at their table, and see that they all began to stare at one particular man, dressed far more professionally in a sweater vest and a tie. It was odd for the middle of summer but it seemed to fit him weirdly. The conversation seemed to continue but as the night continued I kept feeling eyes on me coming from the direction of that table.
As the summer continued and my weekly routine went on, a new regular began to show up to the bar. It was easy to tell it was the same guy from the table as he was the only guy I had ever seen show up here in a sweater vest. As the summer went on, I got curious about the odd stranger and began to ask others about him, after all, Fort Chicken was a small town and there wasn't much that others didn't know about each other.
I had learned that he was a science teacher at the nearby elementary school, apparently, he was known for his poor social skills according to one of the parents of a previous student of his. Interestingly enough, I was also informed by the bartender that although he was at the bar every Friday like me, he didn't drink. He always ordered a diet coke and sat at the same seat at the same table at the bar every Friday and always left after I left (according to the manager), which I found interesting especially since there had been many instances where I saw him looking in my direction, sometimes even seeming like he would come up and talk to me, but he never did which part of me was sad about but I couldn't understand why.
The summer passed by fairly quickly and luckily I had made enough money to finish grad school. As I thought over the summer and everything I had done while back in my hometown, I couldn't help but let my mind wander to the odd stranger that I had never actually met. There was a part of me that felt like we were very similar. At any other point in my life, I was everything but the social creature that I had managed to morph into. I saw a part of myself in him.
The summer ended and so did my brief popularity, I went back to school and everything else went otherwise back to normal. Occasionally I found myself thinking about the cute quirky guy from the bar. There were even moments where I caught myself daydreaming about him or what it would have been like if he had tried to start a conversation with me. I tried my best to push these thoughts away and go back to normal, after all, I had no plans of going back to Fort Chicken.
On my way back to my apartment, I received an alert on my phone from a national alert system, Warning everyone of what was seemingly the spread of an infectious disease started by a popular chicken nugget brand. From the way it was described, it seemed like a real-life zombie apocalypse
Well, it seems there are bigger problems than my love life now.

(Basically, I devised a full backstory for Jack Blaylock from Ulterior Motives (1992)
---
Timothy Calloway is a military brat.
Born to American parents stationed in Japan (either one or both working as military personnel to some degree) and I genuinely don’t ever think he set foot on American soil (at least not well into his adulthood when his later profession took him there, but it would be deeply ironic if he never did at all), which led to this strange disconnect where he was both raised with the type of ingrained mega-patriotism one can only acquire from parents — you guessed it — employed with the army abroad and a family in the same profession multiple generations back, but all while actually being physically, culturally and geographically detached enough from his supposed home cradle to not actually know or having personally experienced anything tangible about The States except some idealized, hybrid version that maybe doesn’t even necessarily exists outside of a nationalist pamphlet or a Norman Rockwell painting. It doesn’t help when your basic and most elementary education took place on foreign soil school dedicated especially to the children of on stand army employees either. It would’ve been like growing up in an insular bubble.
Which is exactly what it was.
Thing is, Timothy is technically more Japanese than American all while not being ethnically Japanese at all (A cause for bitterness and complicated feelings where identity is concerned, perhaps?) He learned to speak Japanese back to back with English from his earliest years, he learned to write the same way, he observed customs, knows the nuances, knows the cuisine, knows the history, the mentality, the ‘what to do’s’ and ‘what not to do’s’ but he still sticks out like a sore thumb and is more often than not deemed a tourist by natives and actual tourists on sight alike, even though he was born in Japan (and is a legal citizen with no dual citizenship to anywhere else), his parents spent their whole lives in Japan, great great grandparents very much the same and he possibly has familial roots in the country going back at least as far back as WWII, with his whole relation having been raised around military bases since the very start.
As such, ironically, his pastoral fantasy ‘All American’ white picket fence idyllic dream home is actually located in the countryside of Japan (Where he grew up), where, according to him ‘eight generations have previously lived’ — possibly a household built by his ancestors who might’ve, at one point, been wealthy and extravagant enough to simply be able to afford to have a summer vacation home as far as the other side of the globe (Perhaps, ambassadors of some sort? Missionaries? Someone with enough disposable income to be able to pull off such an endeavor?); naturally, which ended up being an unsustainable revenue and somewhere down the line as the decades passed. This is an estate Timothy’s family lost for any number of reasons. War. Debt. Crime. Gambling. Lack of funds. The presence of wealthy foreigners on Japanese soil (validly) being a bit of a sore spot for many an enemy who wanted to be rid of them. Run-ins with unsavory syndicats. Banks. You name it. Basically, once Timothy lost this piece of property ‘from a better and more simpler time’, he lost his very own piece of pocket Americana outside of America as the only tangible representation of roots he ever had, and he became some guy with and without a country who didn’t exactly belong anywhere anymore.
I think once Timothy couldn’t belong anywhere anymore, he became Jack Blaylock.
Basically, what I mean to say by this is that I can genuinely imagine Timothy turned homeless very early on, perhaps as an older teenager (16-17 years of age, give or take). I do imagine his parents died. Or were killed. Any such combination is very much believable. I imagine he was orphaned, I think his childhood home was lost and foreclosed because there was no adult left to manage it and Timothy hit the streets — too young to be left to his own devices and too old for the system or for anyone to want to adopt (He was this six foot tall white kid who already looked like an adult and came with a whole world of baggage — not exactly anyone’s model child for adoption).
He couldn’t go back to the States because he was not a citizen (and had nobody to speak of there to Sponsor him), and he didn’t exactly feel like a part of the very country he was born to, left to fend for himself entirely forsaken in a place that was as known as it was foreign, resorting to petty crime, scams, pickpocketing, theft, the occasional jail time, juvenile detention and being tossed back to the streets again until he reached legal age and he was entirely alone; Eighteen and with already enough lived experience to put most grown people to shame. I think falling down the rabbit hole of being groomed and scouted to start roughing up people for money as a pipeline leading to begin killing as well was only so easy. He was big, he was tall, he had the way of the streets about him and had nothing and nobody to lose. Most importantly, he was foreign enough where he could be used to do dirty jobs no local wanted traced back to them, preserving their reputations intact. It was one crook hiring him, then another and another — handling petty vendettas, retaliations, spying, gangster disputes, money extortion, transporting packages, the work of a loan shark, roughing someone up — you name it — until word spread on the street that this kid is good and he started getting serious contractors and began making buck. I think this is how he got embroidered with that corrupt politician we see in the movie. Malcolm Carter?
I think this is around the time Timothy Calloway legally had to ‘die’.
And Jack Blaylock was invented as a false identity.
(Possibly even one of many identities)
Malcolm Carter sponsored Jack, introduced him to important and powerful people, made sure he earns himself a more cultured sleek, polishing away some of his rougher street manners, endowed him with anything from exclusive weapons, the ability to learn how to use them, an indefinite amount of cash, an apartment to utilize as a base of operations, the ability to travel anywhere when necessary, a job as a Detective and a Private Investigator he could use as a ‘front’, he gave him connections, expensive suits, nice shades, nice shoes, the perks of being in close ties with some who possesses diplomatic immunity — but the price was that Jack started doing high profile, high stake hit jobs for him exclusively and this mentorship extended to Carter being Jack’s maker in the figurative and literal sense, forming something of a relationship with him that stood on the foundation of lies and gaslighting, promising Jack anything from the ability to ensure he gets his familiar home back and the understanding that ‘Americans should stick together out in the great big World’ and that one day, ‘the gilded ancestral manor of his family will be rightfully restored to him’. Of course, these promises from a supposed father figure turned handler to a supposed son figure turned terminator extended from plans that should’ve taken place somewhere in the near future to a full two decade working contract between Blaylock and Carter, during which, not only did their relationship become highly codependent, festering, bitter and mutually jilted, landing Jack in jail several times due to Carter’s machinations (even though Carter was always there to pull him out) they couldn’t break apart from each other because they mutually knew too much compromising information about one another to go their separate ways. That is, how, in essence, Jack Blaylock ended up trapped being an assassin for people of importance all while living a fake civilian life to cover up his more obscure dalliances. He began this trade before he even turned twenty, and well nearing his forties, he was in his prime and very much at it, having spent his whole life up until that point killing and knowing nothing else but killing, subterfuge, extortion, seduction, executions and murder for hire. Except, Jack doesn’t even believe himself stuck anymore. He’s far too gone for that.
This is who he is now.

“'CAUSE I WAS RAISED BY A WOMEN WHO WAS HARD TO IMPRESS, AND I CARRY THAT SHIT REAL DEEP IN MY CHEST.”
FULL NAME: Rosalie Hsu NICKNAME(S): Ros BIRTH DATE: March 13th, 1992 AGE: 32 OCCUPATION: Teacher at TV Elementary + Nanny AFFILIATION: N/A TIME IN TV: 32 Years
GENDER: Cis Woman PRONOUNS: She/Her NATIONALITY: American ETHNICITY: Chinese-Taiwanese and White NEIGHBORDHOOD: Formerly Springate Crossing, currently Webster Village
BIRTH PLACE: Tonopah Valley, NV HOMETOWN: Tonopah Valley, NV SOCIAL CLASS: lower class EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelors in Early Childhood Education
A B O U T:
Born and raised in Tonopah, Rosalie was always aware of the grey that the town resided in. And from a young age, she knew her family resided in it too. They might not be involved quite so directly as others, but she knew they definitely skirted around the organizations that loomed around the town, picking up scraps where they could.
Her parents pushed their three children hard, but Rosalie could never tell if it was out of a desire to see their children do better than they had, or if they hoped their children would be their ticket out of their circumstances. Her eldest siblings practically graduated high school and never looked back, both of them going on to good schools and successful careers.
Rosalie's father left her freshman year of high school and her mother's overbearing tendencies only became worse. They came to a head when she learned that Rosalie had decided to go to a state school to become a teacher. Her mother didn't speak to her for almost 3 years. And when she broke that silence it came with the weighty diagnoses of cancer.
The next decade of Rosalie's life was a tangled mess of finishing school, taking care of her mother, moving home, getting a job and bills, endless bills. The cancer would go into remission just to reappear, never giving them time to breathe.
Her mother passed 7 months ago, and between all the semantics that came with that, her job, having to sell the house, and again, the endless bills, Rosalie hasn't even had time to process the grief and extremely complicated feelings she held for her mother.
To at least take one thing off her plate, Rosalie made the not so smart decision to borrow money from some not so official places. And she's working her ass off nannying after school to try and make ends meet.
W A N T E D C O N N E C T I O N S:
Rosalie nannies after school and on weekends to try and make ends meet, so if you got a parent who needs some help, Ros is ya girl!
Someone she borrowed money from. If ya got someone in a organization and you think they'd be pulling some loan-sharky side hustle, hit a bitch up.
Considering she grew up in TV, i'm looking for any and all past connections, friends from school, former high school sweethearts (purely platonic now), people she didn't get along with, old neighbors from Springate Crossings, etc!
Anything n everything xoxoxox

hc + insecurity
hc + insecurity ( reading literacy )
first and foremost, there is very little that luffy feels insecure about, which is made clear by the way he regularly acts. he says and does things without thinking, without care for what other people think, and without concern of the consequences any actions might be. he is confident in his strength, in his crew and friends, and in his ability to achieve his dream. luffy has and always will move to the beat of his own drum, he is a free spirit, free from even caring about the opinions of others ... mostly.
if there's a skill that luffy lacks, and something that he would feel insecure or unsure about, it's his reading literacy level. luffy lacks a proper education even at the most basic elementary level. he never went to school and definitely never had a private tutor. any reading skills he was taught early on were mostly from makino during his time in foosha village, or from attempts made by garp to teach him. however, garp likely lost patience in doing this frequently, because if there's another thing that posed as barrier for luffy in learning, it was his own inability to pay attention and sit still ( due to adhd, which is something i will go into at a different time ).
that being said, luffy's reading level is very low, likely no higher than a 2nd or 3rd grade level ( by U.S. standards ). he can manage to read some text if very determined to, but most of the time he won't bother because it frustrates him. additionally, any sort of reading in front of other people causes him stress and embarassment — though he would struggle to identify it as such. thus, because it's a negative emotion that he doesn't enjoy, he will just avoid feeling it altogether.
what does this look like? well if someone tries to hand him reading material, he'll probably just brush it off with a "nah, i don't want to do that, it's boring." or if it's a newspaper of any sort, he'll just say he doesn't care about it. which honestly? he probably doesn't unless it has something to do with people he cares about. on some occassions he may pretend to very briefly read something, but more often than not, he'll just pass it off to another person, because he's "distracted" or more interested in something else.
luffy has gotten very good at hiding that he can't read well. though, he's not even actively trying to hide it most times. he doesn't like how frustrated it makes him or that it makes his head hurt or that to do it in front of people makes it that much worse, so he just treats it like an acivity he doesn't care about. but he also won't just go telling people that he struggles with reading, in the same way that he doesn't really talk about his past and childhood.
so that brings me to who would know about luffy's actual literacy level and how they know. pretty much anyone present during luffy's childhood on dawn island is aware, because they saw how he was educated ( or not educated ) growing up — namely garp, ace, sabo, makino, dadan, shanks, etc. as for the rest of the straw hats? they all know. yup. luffy does a good job of hiding it, but when you live with him everyday on a ship, there are patterns that get picked up on. so yes, they all know, but no one says anything about it and neither does luffy. they all fell into a routine of reading and/or summarizing things for him if he shows interest or gives them something that he decided wasn't worth trying to read ( like very nice notes from certain very tall blonde mime-lookin guys ). there is also the possibility that law knows too, thanks to an extended period spent aboard the sunny, but other than that, pretty much everyone will be made to think that luffy just finds reading laaaaaame.
@ferromagnetiic / hc + a word prompt
#ferromagnetiic#long post cw#❝ its not like ‘thanks’ are something i can eat ❞ — answered#❝ i have to be stronger than everybody else…or else i’ll lose them all! ❞ — headcanons#that being said i think he could read Kid's valentine#he just chose to keep it anyway#because nobody gives him valentines really and he'll take the thought over anything

Guniw Tools Q-it! Question & Profile (Eng. translation)
This is a Q&A style interview with Guniw Tools from 1997, when the band consisted of Full, Jake, & Asaki. There's 37 questions in total. The internet doesn't see much translated Guniw Tools content so I wanted to post my own!! Part 1 is under the cut..
Part 2
Before you read: everything in (parentheses) is there because they wrote it, any footnotes are *asterisked & italicized
1. The name, make, & model of the instrument you primarily use? Full: Synths, EMU Proteus and AKAI S950 Jake: Gibson – E-335, Ovation – Deacon Asaki: ESP “Mr. Batsu-ichi”¹, Rickenbacker 625, concert “Asakichi no. 1”², and many many more ¹Mr. Batsu-ichi is a nickname for his guitar, batsuichi roughly translates to : ‘strike one’, a slang term used to refer to divorcées, especially of the first marriage. The actual guitar model is a ESP SA-100 ²Another nickname I think, unsure which equipment it refers to 2. Things you must always bring as tour necessities? Full: Rubber cement (liquid rubber silicone), bird feathers, rubber snakes, slime, sweets (300 yen worth) Jake: Tupperware (for takeout), Game Boy Asaki: There’s so many things-! 3. Things that are essential to ensure a live show goes smoothly?
Full: Get to the venue earlier on Jake: Pushups, alcohol. Asaki: Smoke!! and drink!* *the way this is written could interchangeably mean drinking in place of smoking/vice versa, so he could also be saying “drink!! & then drink!” 4. Things that must be done to ensure the recording process go smoothly? Full: Regular life.* *following a steady routine every day. Jake: Don’t worry. Don’t give anyone a hard time. Asaki: Even if you’re drunk, drink! 5: Typical time spent rehearsing during a tour? Full: 7 days Jake: It’s usually a mixed bag Asaki: I don’t care about every little thing like that 6. Music grades throughout elementary, middle, and high school? Full: 3* *Schools in Japan have a numerical grading system with 5 being the highest grade and 1 being the lowest Jake: Teachers took one look at me, man.. Asaki: √2 8. Your best subject through elementary, middle, and high school? Full: Math and art Jake: English Asaki: Online classes 9. Your worst subject through elementary, middle, and high school? Full: Physical Education Jake: Math Asaki: Health & physical education (definitely a lie) 10. The most frequent way you got in touch with music when you were young? (1) In what form? Full: I’d say probably records (LP).. Jake: △ (triangle) Asaki: I would say it was kind of a round experience...but sharp around the edges... (2) From what age? Full: Age 5 Jake: –––––– Asaki: If you're talking about sugar, a cup and a half. 11. Were you exposed to music from an early age as part of your development? Full: I don’t recall Jake: I wonder.. Asaki: Ahh yes, I was. 12. What is your ideal TV appearance? Full: Studio jacking.* *He probably means hijacking a TV stations broadcast signal (Max Headroom) Jake: Today’s Doggie* *A morning news segment that essentially showcases a ‘daily doggie’ acting in cute & interesting ways lolol Asaki: I’ll let you know by tomorrow. 13. What is your ideal magazine appearance? Full: Appearance on the front cover only. Interview on page 4. Jake: –––––– Asaki: I want to be featured in Kenzo Kitakata's life advice column*!! *Kenzo Kitakata is a Japanese novelist who had a column in ‘Hot Dog Press’ magazine where he gave answers to the various problems of troubled youth
14. If you were to compare yourself to someone like Nobunaga, Hideyoshi, and Ieyasu*, which? *In simplest terms, these three are historical figures often used like a personality test. Nobunaga – Strong leader type Hideyoshi – Teamwork type Ieyasu - Coach type Full: Hiraga Gennai* *Eccentric ‘jack of all trades’ type. Pharmacologist, author, painter, & inventor who composed works on homosexual desire as well as satirical pieces & poetry. Jake: Tamori.* *Comedian known for hosting a weekly music television program Asaki: Charles Bronson* *Western actor, handsome & manly type 15. Part time jobs you’ve had? Full: Drawing signboards and inscribing names into jewelry Jake: The Guardsman.* *A TV drama, he’s saying security guard in a jokey way Asaki: Effects pedal shop “I don’t need the strain~”* *I think it's a joke that only works in Japanese, the word he used has a double meaning ‘effects pedal’ & ‘strain’ (as in it strains the sound), so when he literally says “I don’t need effects pedal” it's actually like a pun saying “I don't need to be strained!” E.g. kind of like “We nailed it!” 16. Alcoholic journeys? Full: None Jake: Methyl→Nitroglycerin Asaki: I’ll never drink ethanol again.. 17. Gambling journeys? Full: None. I spend around 3,000 yen on horse betting (yearly) Jake: Life's a gamble Asaki: 5,000 points to Hara Taira* *A pop culture reference to a quiz show where contestants & celebrities would be asked a question, the contestant bets points on whichever celebrity they think knew the answer. If you both had the correct answer you would win the points amount. A reliable respondent was manga artist Hara Taira, so many people would bet on his correct answer that it became a popular saying “5,000 points to Hara Taira!” 18. History with women? Full: Just a few (all refreshing/simple types) Jake: ––––– Asaki: Eventually I hooked up with Madonna (enough said)
You can see the rest of the photoshoot here & here
Feel free to share/repost as you wish, I'd like for their work to be as accessible as possible!

Welcome to Aurora Bay, [KATRINA BEAUFORD]! I couldn’t help but notice you look an awful lot like [ELIZABETH OLSEN]. You must be the [THIRTY-FIVE] year old [TEACHER AT AB ELEMENTARY]. Word is you’re [GENUINE] but can also be a bit [VULNERABLE] and your favorite song is [RIVER OF TEARS - ALESSIA CARA]. I also heard you’ll be staying in [SEABROOK QUARTER]. I’m sure you’ll love it!
cw: menstruation
Katrina grew up just south of Aurora Bay, the younger of two siblings. Her brother was a typical older sibling, teasing her half the time, being her protector the other half. It was a rather normal childhood, nothing to complain about.
As a teen, Kat always complained of pretty painful periods, but in classic boomer style, her mom always said that she was just being dramatic and that exercise would help. It didn't, however, eventually Kat just stopped mentioning it, sucking it up and trying to ignore it.
Kat also did a lot of babysitting in high school for friends, family and neighbors. This was when she discovered she was pretty good with kids. Patient, understanding, not afraid to meet them on their level. It wasn't until she was thinking about where to apply to college that she seriously considered a career with kids. And this is how she settled on Early Childhood Education.
It was during college that the friends she made noticed how badly she would suffer with pain sometimes, and finally someone talked her into seeing someone, after Kat had spent so long convincing herself it was just in her head. The first doctor she saw dismissed it as just regular cramps, and recommended using heat packs and tylenol. This did very little to help Kat's mental health. And so for the next few years, she went back to ignoring it.
Katrina took her first placement in her hometown, but a few years later, she moved to Aurora Bay and has been in town ever since. That was eight years ago.
She fell in love with the town, and has worked at Aurora Bay Elementary ever since. She has made a few friends through the kids who've been in her class, which usually doesn't bother the kids since they're still too young to be embarrassed by their parent and teacher being friends.
One day, the pain Kat was struggling through became too much and she ended up in the hospital. Luckily the doctors in AB were better than the one she'd seen before, and Kat was diagnosed with endometriosis, and it was so far advanced that she was scheduled for surgery the next week. It helped, but it wasn't a cure, but at least Kat had a doctor who believed her, and would help her with a treatment plan going forward.
Kat shares her house with an orange cat named Cheddar, who is super dopey but she loves him.

Idk the issue of how fanfiction impacts youth literacy interests me because outside of porn past the age of like 16 I wasn’t really interacting with fanfiction the way someone interacts with a book or a movie or tv show but the way that someone interacts with the student essays they and their peers have to write and edit about the books and movies they’re assigned in high school and college. Like a more creative and abstract fan discussion forum where people can highlight what they like or don’t like or other thoughts they have on canon without prompt or the rhetorical context of an open discussion
And I say that because over the years I’ve seen arguments that teenagers are drawn to fanfiction instead of literature because the books teachers give them are too boring or non-representational but outside of learning story structure (usually done in elementary school and early middle school) the benefit of most assigned books isn’t like, personal connection or broadening of horizons? It’s about learning to use literature to connect with others, a specific time and place, or with the millions of people who have also read that same book
Because culture builds on itself yknow? So to navigate it well you need to be versed in the motifs and codes used throughout it. Having students read the same books for generations broadens a frame of reference that is shared by a growing portion of the population. The value in Shakespeare isn’t just that it’s well written or structured often in a way that makes it easy for teachers to highlight the themes or use and mechanics of different literary devices, but because virtually EVERYONE in the English speaking world knows who Shakespeare is and virtually everyone with an English education has read some Shakespeare — and so the ripples of Shakespeare are especially numerous, frequent, and influencial.
And it’s not just about understanding YOUR culture but about how culture as a whole WORKS because if you don’t see examples of how one old classic story has gone on to influence stories that’s went on to influence stories you’re going to struggle to understand the power that art and literature have past the individual relationship between story and singular reader. You’re also going to struggle to understand how individuals and groups feed back into eachother, how ideas propagate and spread and reinforce themselves.
Mary Shelly wrote the first sci-fi horror at a time when scientific advancement was rapidly changing what a conservative religious society understood about the world, not just the facts they knew but the ways in which they could conceive and imagine somebody to interact with it, the body was changing from the vessel of a soul impeded by a higher being to an organic machine. People weren’t just looking down the barrel of new ethical questions, they were looking down the barrel and realizing that there COULD be new ethical questions, that ethics as a whole could be fluid and expanding with the expansion of sciences and industry. That context is important because it serves as evidence to the modern reader to the evolution of culture
And you HAVE to understand how and why and when culture changes or you’re not going to have ANY influence during the moments when you’d otherwise has the opportunity to partake in such, because you won’t know that what is an opportunity is there at all

BIOGRAPHY
Early Life
When Sarah was a child, her teachers used to call her Matilda. She wasn't magical, and she didn't have a principal who would throw her around by her pigtails, but she had a love for education that even the adults thought was peculiar. Instead of grazing her knees playing tag like the rest of the kids her age, Sarah sat at the side with a book in her hand, creating a new world for herself.
Her home life could, at times, be compared to Matilda's. Her father left when Sarah was four. She remembered it vividly, because he had taken her to the park and hesitated to make conversation over a melting ice cream cone. It was the first time they had properly spent time together - she just didn't realise it would be the last. Sarah's mother, Lucía, didn't deal with it well. She drank, cried, and drank some more. At first, Sarah tried to help her, but she knew when she wasn't wanted. Instead, she just fell back into the books. At least the words would never leave her.
Sarah's mom eventually got over her father the way most women do - by getting under another man. And another. And another. It was like a revolving door of men with loose ties, reddening cheeks and tousled hair leaving their small apartment. Occasionally, Sarah would end up eating breakfast with one, staring blankly at them across a plate of eggs.
It wasn't a complete loss, however. Sarah eventually gained three siblings. They all had different fathers, but it didn't matter to her. Sarah was fiercely protective over her siblings, and she felt it was her duty to protect them from harm.
Teenage Years
It was strange how someone could go from being a Matilda in elementary school to being "uncooperative and unkind" in high school, according to her teachers. As Sarah got older, she became more and more disillusioned with the world of East Haven. The people were fake, and her high school was filled with people who would either be waitresses or bank tellers in ten years. But her? She knew she was bigger than East Haven. She imagined writing beautiful books of poetry which would sell millions of copies and make her well-known around the world. She didn't care much about fame, but the idea of making enough money so her family could live comfortably was exciting to her. The cracks were beginning to show in her home. Her mother went on benders which sometimes lasted up to a week or longer. When she did return, she was so hungover she wasn't seen for another couple of days. This left looking after her younger siblings to Sarah. She bathed them, fed them, did their homework with them and dropped them off at school. When her mother was there, she and Sarah often got into explosive fights which usually ended up with one of them leaving with only a slammed door behind them.
It didn't help that Sarah was known as a freak in school. It turned out that being naturally quiet and keeping your nose in a book wasn't as normal as she once thought. Kids would pick on her, often tripping her up in the corridor or stealing her books and ripping pages out. She didn't let it bother her - she just went back to her fantasies about finally getting out of East Haven and leaving the shit-for-brains in high school.
Him.
Despite trying her best not to care about the people around her, Sarah fell hard for one of the people she should hate the most - the captain of the football team. It was like a sad teen movie from the early-2000s. He was called Caleb, and Sarah was head over heels from the moment she laid eyes on him. Maybe it was because he was the only one who didn't pick on her. Maybe it was because he smiled at her in the hallway when everyone else looked through her. Maybe it was because they had been secretly hooking up ever since she had been paired to tutor him. Who knows? He dominated all of her thoughts, and she couldn't wait for the day that he told his friends and they could finally be open about their relationship. Only, of course, that day never came. Instead, he got with Samantha, a cheerleader who Sarah was almost certain was the first human being to possess no human thought. Caleb never smiled at her in the hallway again.
College Days
Sarah had been accepted at a variety of colleges which included Brown and NYU. She had been anxiously debating which to go with, when she got the news. Her youngest sister, who was only sixteen, had gotten pregnant. Instead of fulfilling her wishes of moving to a different state and finally becoming the person she knew she was supposed to become, Sarah stayed in East Haven and went to the local college so she could help her sister. What was three more years, anyway?
Present Day
Sarah never ended up leaving East Haven. She helped her sister raise her nephew with no help from their AWOL mother. She worked her way up to manager at Book Haven despite graduating summa cum laude. Inside, she is itching to get out of East Haven and truly start her life, but at 36 years old and a crippling college debt, the dream seems to be getting further and further away.
