Omg I saw your post about finishing writing a duel that took three months to finish and honestly SAME 😭. I’m in the middle of writing fics too but I always lose motivation once I have to finally write the duel in the chapter. Idk how you do it but that’s amazing that you finally did it lol. I know I’ve been avoiding them and just continue writing the plot before anything else. It will catch up to me tho… someday… xD

Jokes aside, thanks! But as much as certain card interactions have frustrated me over time (and continue to frustrate me), the truth is, there is no continuing the plot without finishing the duel first where my stories are concerned, because the duels in my stories, in the chapters that have any, are the plot. I usually stuff them with so much introspection and plot-heavy interaction between the participants that I couldn't continue with the scene that's supposed to follow after even if I wanted to. In that way, I kinda shackle myself to whichever duel is currently plot-relevant until it's done. And sometimes, that's not too much of a problem, but in the current WIP... o o f. Save to say, I picked some tricky decks to figure out and have a LOT of plot on my hands. On the upside, sticking it out and writing intricate duels is usually worth it because it makes the story feel more like something that's actually part of the 5Ds universe. (And I didn't need my sanity, anyway, ha. haha. hahahahaha.) Having an extremely detailed duel outline with all the stats (plus occasional plot remarks to go along with certain card plays) certainly helps, though.

For what it's worth, I wish you lots of luck with whatever duel might currently be looming over your fic, haha. May you find all the motivation, energy, and concentration you need to see it through.
