Hunger Games Men as Taylor Swift Songs

Idk if this is kinda odd to post but I'm a person who loves music and every song I listen to paints a scene in my head and I've been getting super into hunger games lately so a lot of the songs I've been listening to have reminded me of the characters. Specifically, my delulu self can imagine being in certain romantic situations with them based on the situations happening in these songs. For the sake of continuity, we will use songs from Ms. Taylor. I wanna write little one shots inspired by these situations. I already wrote the Snow one today so maybe I'll continue.

tldr- these are Taylor swift songs that reminded me of what it might be like to be in a relationship with these characters.

Peeta Mellark

Jump Then Fall- Taylor Swift, Fearless

"The bottom's gonna drop out from under our feet, I'll catch you"

Honestly I was thinking 'Mine' at first but I felt like Peeta HAD to have a song off of Fearless. He is the human embodiment of sunshine to me and Fearless as an album is gold, bright, and holds a theme of puppy love throughout it. All of those things just SCREAM Peeta Mellark to me. 'Jump Then Fall' is a song that is relatively vague in terms of story telling lyrics but it is about loving someone and being happy just to see them happy and wanting to be there for your partner no matter what. I feel like Peeta is that kind of ride or die lover. Even after the capital had brainwashed him into hating Katniss he still found his way back into loving her again anyways. He is a lover you can trust. He truly would stick through it all so it's okay to 'Jump Then Fall'.

(Story Idea: Kinda toying with a cute little fluff where the reader and Peeta are going swimming at a lake or something. I have another idea for him too but it's apart of the Finnick X Reader X Peeta story I'm theorizing)

Gale Hawthorn

Better man- Taylor Swift, Red

"But your jealousy, I can hear it now talking down to me like I'd always be around you push my love away like it was some kind of loaded gun, you never thought I'd run."

Firstly, Red is my favorite album. Sorry had to get that out of the way. Gale honestly, ugh there was so much potential here. I think as the movies progressed he started to lose his empathy and grew a more selfish shell. Better Man really reminds me of what Katniss might have been thinking with him. He would've been the one if he was a better man.

(Story idea: reader contemplating their relationship with Gale a month or two after the break up and reliving the memories of the past that are gloomy and haunted over by the fact that, Gale really wasn't ready for a relationship. They ponder over things until coming to the disheartening conclusion that brought them to breaking it off in the first place, it really could've worked out if he was a better man.

Also possibly a part two of that with a tooth rotting fluff about Gale going through some character development and becoming a better man and then they get back together)

Finnick Odair

Starlight- Taylor swift, Red

"He said "Look at you, worrying too much about things you can't change, You'll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way"

Ahehehe Finnicks my favorite. It was hard to pick just one for him but I went with Starlight because he is just such a charmer. Starlight is a song about a whirlwind sort of romance where you are at a party and doing some silly things and you're falling in love. I can totally imagine this happening with Finnick. You meet at a capital party, run off together and start creating some chaos and fall in love. There's specific lines that remind me of him like the "he was trying to skip rocks on the ocean saying to me, "don't you see the starlight"". I could totally see Finnick doing that and just truly being a charming man and finding those little bits of joy in the messed up life given to him. I could see this also being a sort of sheltered reader and it being their first party and he helps them loosen up and have fun.

Honestly, its hard for me to pinpoint just one song for him because so many remind me of him so here are some honorable mentions.

Holy Ground- Same kinda vibe as Starlight

Forever Winter- he has trauma and I can help him. Ours- Finnicks Reputation makes your family question if you should be with him but you know him truly and they can't take whats ours

Mine- A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THIS ONE BECAUSE OF THE "I remember we were sitting there by the water" line but the rest of the song doesn't fit him

Paper Rings- They wanna get married but Finnick can't because of the capitals uh plan with him so they have a little ceremony with just themselves and some friends and paper rings before the events of Catching Fire and then they decide to run off to district 13 to be together for real

Coriolanus Snow

Tolerate It- Taylor Swift, Evermore

"I know my love should be celebrated, but you Tolerate it"

honestly this was the one that inspired me to do this post. I already wrote this story because I CANT HELP MYSELF! This song was playing in my car after I watched tbosas and it was just painting this whole picture of how the person Snow ended up marrying after Lucy Gray must have felt. I'm pretty sure there was that line in the book too that was talking about how Snow never wanted to fall in love again because he felt so out of control and how he would marry someone he didn't love so that he never had to feel that way again. it was something like that. So Tolerate It sounds like the total POV of his next partner. The song itself is about a relationship with a power imbalance where the person singing the song is giving their absolute all for the love, affection, and praise of their partner and their partner gives them nothing in return. The term "Tolerate It" also is insinuating that the person the narrator is in love with is mildly annoyed with the things the singer is doing for them. They simply deal with it but are never impressed and that just gave me snow vibes.

ENHYPEN - ROMANCE: UNTOLD Review

(an unserious review)

I have always checked out ENHYPENS releases and casually listened, but this is my first comeback being a full stan, and who stans SHINee and BTS. Here is my review nobody asked for. Enjoy!

XO (Only If You Say Yes) MV: 8/10. 2 points deducated because I was confused especially at the end lol But the mv was creative and the boys were so so pretty!

Full Album: 9/10

I have always thought ENHYPENS albums were pretty mature and not your normal music from the boy groups today, which is why I appreciated and liked them. But this album is another level of maturity and oozes GROWTH.

The direction they are going with their sound is amazing. I normally do not care for these kinds of albums but they still somehow managed to keep that ominous and mysterious concept with an upbeat romance album. This wasn't childish or sloppy, this was done extremely well and the members voices fit each and every song on this album. Nothing was off and that needs to be celebrated. This wasn't rushed and they were very careful with what worked for the boys. I am extremely impressed, another reason why I became a fan. They impress me with their incredible talents. I just want to tell them they did a GREAT job, because they really did. This is my favorite boy group release of the year!

Each song:

Moonstruck: 12/10.

The most anticipated song off the album! Did not disappoint! I am so glad it's not an intro and a full song! This song was just my style and the second verse is absolutely magical along with the chorus! I just wish it was longer. This is going to be on repeat.

XO (Only If You Say Yes): 7/10.

The song is catchy and nice. I'm surprised because I normally don't enjoy songs like that, but the arrangement is really good and it's not some chaotic, sloppy mess. It works well and it's cute. I will add it to my playlist.

Your Eyes Only: 9/10.

This song surprised me. This is not what I was expecting but I really, really liked the chorus and I can see myself getting more into it than I thought. The boys' voices are absoluetly magical and is up there with one of my favorite songs off the album.

Hundred Broken Hearts: 7/10.

Song is not my style but I dig it. I appreciate that it's actually good! It's not a song that you just don't want to listen to and turn off. Even if you don't like it you can appreciate it and it actually reminds me of Hannah Montana in a way. Some of Hannah Montana songs I did not like but I still knew and appreciated because they were done well and this reminds me of that.

Brought the Heat back: 10/10

BOP! A BOP! BOP! Okay, this song I knew I was going to like from the teasers, it's right up my alley! But I enjoyed this way more than I thought I was going to. Also, Jake and Jay in the Bridge! BRUHHHH! A song you can dance to, even if you're sad.

Paranormal: 8/10

As I was listening to this all I could think about was 1D lol Why is Enhypen a better version of 1D? This song caught me off guard and it was not what I thought it was going to be at all. I really liked the chorus and I just couldn't stop thinking about their talents. Why are they so good at singing?

Royalty: 7/10

My least favorite song off the album but not a complete skip. I really dig the instrumental aspects. I like the upbeat sound and how nice it sounds.

Highway 1009: 10/10

Heeseung did an amazing job composing this. I really like how you can focus on their voices and the lyrics, they're so sweet and they sound so nice. You can really tell they're talking to their fans and that's so special. Jake's voice really stands out to me in this song and his rasp ugh one of my favorite fan songs I've heard. It's insanely sweet.

XO (Only If You Say Yes) (Eng. Ver.) ft. JVKE: 9/10

I already like the english version more, which, I know it's the same song and I normally hate english verions...but this is made to be played on the radio. It's such a bop! And JVKE's feature is so good, I'm glad he gave this song to them because THIS is a GREAT collab. When the feature sounds like an official member and it works. Fantastic!

My initial reaction to V the unreleased released Jonas Brothers album from 2013

FIRST OF ALL my OVERALL feelings for it is kind of lukewarm

I didn't hate it I could never hate an entire Jonas album but I didn't exactly enjoy it

It felt familiar yet so foreign

Like I know these guys but it didn't feel like them

I was hoping for some like "oh" moment which I had but it wasn't a good "oh" it was a "this is why they broke up" 😭

This is going to be so all over the place I'm so sorry. I still can't organise my thoughts, I don't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't THAT. But this song was SO good I still haven't recovered from it. Park Jimin really did that. First of all, I want to talk about the choir because we always talk about the choir because the choir fucking ATE this song up oh my god. Now I want them on every Jimin song. And the dancers?? They were amazing too. The way Jimin walked in front of them was so powerful. I loved all of the formations and I have to admit at first I thought they were forming a 9 and I was like wtf is a 9, what does that represent 😂 I have seen someone say it's a fibonacci spiral, or a cyclone which symbolises Jimin's inner struggle, or the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly and I am loving all of them. I mean we really got everything, we got lower register Jimin, we got Jimin singing high as a fucking skyscraper 😩 he did it for us 😞✋ And the way he jumps from very low to very high? It's soo good. So now that we finally have one of his songs out and I kind of calmed down a little, I'm already thinking about the rest of the songs. He hinted (like literally pointed at it) that the little aquarium bowl he was decorating in his wlive is also a hint / spoiler for the album. So I'm thinking it has to do with the other mv. Water is also a hint from the very first teaser. Please if they put him in a serendipity bubble again, I will combust on the spot. Also I was listening to the snippet again and he's definitely singing "fucking nowhere" and I think that song is Alone which means it will definitely fuck me up 😣 And didn't Jimin say his album is a story like Hobi and Namjoon's was? SMF is the last track if we don't count Like Crazy's eng version, which means him breaking out and finally being free is the end of his journey (for now). And he also said his album was influenced by his emotions and thoughts during the pandemic (like Namseok) so naturally I'm like wtf and fearing for my life because of all the tracks that come before we reach SMF's conclusion.

Oh @vintageshanny what a good question! There are so many good songs already listed that would be on my sad elvis playlist... hmmm maybe I need that? Here are three I listen to a lot...

Blue Moon - before I got into Elvis, I didn't realize he did a version of this song or that it predated The Marcels doo wop version. The slow soft way he sings it and the echo and light touch of the guitar picking away and and the bass and the dreamy way he croons a bit, all of it, pulls on my heart strings.

It Hurts Me - ugh, I love the studio version of this, it kills me that it was the B side to Kissin' Cousins when it was originally released and wasn't as well known until the 68 Special version. He pours so much into the studio performance, we really go on a journey from heartbreak to passion through his vocals. And it is just such a good song.

Hurt - a powerhouse, from one of my favorite albums, it is a gut punch every time. I know it is probably predictable, but it's one of the sad songs I have listened to the most.

this was fun to think about, it is always a pleasure to talk about his music and learn about some songs I am not as familiar with.

Elvis Top Three - Sad Songs

I had a suggestion from a lovely anon for the Elvis Top Three questions, so this time we’re doing Top Three Sad Songs. What really gets you in your feelings? Gives you a good cathartic cry? I think a lot of the ones I was considering overlapped with my soothing songs. I’m not sure what that says about me lol, but here goes.

You’ll Think Of Me – This is just such a beautifully heartbreaking song. Knowing you can’t give someone what they deserve even though you love them and then reassuring them that they’ll find someone better than you…I do wonder if Elvis related to this on some level when singing it. I think he tried his best but also understood how difficult it could be to live in his world. His vocal performance is just gorgeous; I love the sort of huskiness from these recording sessions.

Make the World Go Away – Elvis’ voice in 68-71 just does something to me; it is so soulful. His performance on this, and the sentiment of the song, hits me so hard. When he sings “get it off, get it off, get it off my shoulder,” I can feel the emotion pouring out.

My Boy – This one feels very personal to me. I know this is about a failing relationship and when he says “If I stay, I stay because of you, my boy,” he means stay in the marriage, but when I listen to it, I think of it in the context of my own life. I have felt many times like my son is my whole reason for living. The “staying” for me is to keep living, to keep doing my best to make it through.

Nonny, this is such an interesting/fun series of questions. I will answer for Casey & Kaycee as one since they have the same background until the beginning of book 2, but in cases where they do veer (if it's an event that took place after, or since they have different personalities, they may differ), I will point it out. Debut: When did you find out your life’s passion? K/C knew they wanted to be a doctor from a very young age. Rose nearly died when she was four, and they wished they could help her. That, coupled with a toy doctor's kit her grandpa gave her, already had her thinking that was what she wanted to do, and she never veered from it. It was also this experience, seeing her family struggle terribly financially, the lack of support systems in place for families dealing with critical illnesses, and the disparity in healthcare in the US, which was already evident to Casey, and it already pissed her off. She was well on the path to what she would become. Kaycee's favorite: Teardrops on my Guitar Casey's favorite: Our Song (No reason, they just like them and remind them of that time in their lives. My fave? Tim McGraw - why? I saw her perform it before anyone knew her name, and I said, "She is going to be huge?" My friend Gary said, "No, she isn't," and I have never let him live it down. lol)

Fearless: What is one thing you did that scared you, but you did it anyway? OK, different answers here.

For Casey, it was pursuing her goal to be a doctor and wanting to be the best at it. She wasn't the first in her family to go to college, but she was the first that went to top schools, who lived away from home, and who was in some of the most rigorous programs in the country. It was new, it was scary, and she did it without a huge financial safety net. But she never wavered, never gave up, even when some tried to convince her that taking it down a notch may have been a good idea (never her parents, but other family members did this.)

For Kaycee, all the above is true, but for her, it was pursuing Ethan even after his Amazon stunt. In her heart of hearts, she knew that they were meant to be together, but she also knew that she was only half of that decision-making process. She really struggled with if she should just get over him or try to see this through, and in the end, she knew she had to try, even if it broke her heart.

Casey & Kaycee's favorite: Is Forever & Always. It got them through some rough breakups lol (My fave? That and also The Way I Loved You and You Belong With Me, no real reasons, just do. lol)

Speak now: What is something you did by yourself that you are most proud of?

For both, it was going away to NYU and pursuing their dreams, knowing it was such an upward battle. But she did it, and she excelled.

Favorite song: (for both) Back to December - because it's a freaking classic. (That's one of mine, but Mean and Never Grow Up have such personal meaning to me, they're tied.)

Red: What life event put you through hell, but you ended up better for it?

Offh. Tough one. Both women have several Their mom's illness as a child for sure, their first heartbreak with Tomas, and of course, the chemical attack come to mind. For Casey, the birth of her third daughter (and the aftermath) would also be up there.

Favorite song: Like the whole damn album. lol Ugh, to pick? I mean, All Too Well has to be theirs, mine, and everyone else's because it's perfection lol Casey might think We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together because it was her reset era song, and Begin Again because it reminds her of when she and Tobias got together. Kaycee may say I Almost Do and Starlight. Me - I say the whole freaking album - and some of the songs on the new version are gold.

1989: What makes you feel most free/at ease?

The same for both women, but with different men. Being in love with Ethan (Kaycee) and Tobias (Casey). When love is the real deal, it's your home. It's where you can be yourself and always feel loved, accepted, and understood. IT's one place you never have to hide, and that is the most freeing feeling in the world.

Favorite song: Hmm. Style and Blank Space. Trite. Perhaps, but they're good songs. (My favorites too, but this was not my favorite album)

I had a lovely week with my sister at home! We went to a park with semi free animals in another province! we were all the day! I like when we can do family trips like in the old times haha

"I still can't believe you've been on Broadway for a month and I'm only finding out about this today," Jason said in disbelief as he sat beside me on my couch. This show called Hadestown just opened a few weeks ago on Broadway, and I was the understudy for Eurydice herself. I haven't told most of my friends yet except a few of my closest ones. And today, I finally told my boyfriend.

"You're not mad at me, are you?"

He cupped my cheeks and kissed my nose playfully. "Of course not! I'm proud of you, baby. But I'd really want to see you up on stage. And I'm pretty sure the rest of us would like to see you perform live, too."

I took his hands and pressed them to my lips. "I work on weekends, so you guys could see me this Saturday."

Jason leaned forward and pressed his lips to mine. "I'm looking forward to it."

I leaned into his chest as his hands played with my hair. The silence was comforting. It's the type of comfort that you get from sitting down and stretching your legs after a stroll around the city.

After what seemed like hours, I sat up and lead him to the piano. I sat on the piano bench, motioning for him to sit beside me. "Come on, I wanna share something with you."

"What's this?" He asked curiously, although obliging to my request as he sat beside me.

I raised the lid of the piano keys and set my phone on the music stand. I talked to him as I setup the livestream on my non-demigod account. "Well, at least once a week since I've started doing professional theater, I go live on Instagram and just catch up with the fans, or maybe even sing a few songs. And, I don't know. Do you maybe, want to be in this one?"

He looked at me in shock. He opened his mouth to say something, and ended up smiling instead. "I-I... Yes! O-Of course I want to do this with you!"

You had the widest grin as you gave him a peck. You started the livestream and saw that fans were joining in by the tens to the hundreds. They started commenting on the livestream, saying how excited they were to see you again. A handful of them were already intrigued by the new blond boy that was sitting next to you.

"That's a lot of people." Jason scanned the flurry of comments as he ran a hand up and down your back.

"Hey guys," you smiled at the audience sweetly, which was a softer side of you that Jason rarely saw. Sure, you were sweet and kind and friendly, but the way you interacted with fans was something that Jason wasn't used to, especially because he only found out half an hour ago that his girlfriend is on the road to stardom. "You wanna introduce yourself, Jase? They're getting really curious about you."

Jason smiled and waved at the camera. "Hey guys, I'm Jason and I'm y/n's boyfriend." He wrapped his arms around your waist and placed his chin on his shoulder, causing you to giggle.

"So," you said at the camera, "Jason here only found out a few minutes ago that, um, I have been on a little Broadway show that you might know as Hadestown. He hasn't seen the show or listened to the album yet. So, I'm going to play him one of my favorite songs from the show."

You turn to kiss Jason's cheek and start to play the first bars on the piano as you talk (just like in the video above). At this point, everyone was commenting how cute of a couple you were. "And I think you're gonna like it, too, Jase."

You started singing the song, pouring your heart out into every word. As you sang, memories of your relationship with Jason flashed in your mind, fueling the emotions you brought to the song. You remembered how you survived all those years of questing at camp, especially the Titan War. You thought of how you've survived so much that you never realized how much you needed someone to hold you through the nightmares, someone to kiss your bandaged wounds. You've braved the dangers of the world and you've never realized how lonely, scared and cold you felt at times until Jason came into your life and he wrapped you in a warm embrace full of love.

Jason felt the same way. Listening to you sing made him subconsciously tighten his embrace and snuggle closer into your neck. Your siren-like singing entranced him, making him think of how much love you were pouring out right now—truth be told, he couldn't fathom how people were capable of giving so much love to someone as much as the both of you loved each other. The emotions hit him hard as a brick, and he knew how that felt. He was on cloud nine, and he felt like he could just faint and melt into a puddle anytime.

He glanced at the comments as you continued to sing: "they are sooo freaking cute together", "get you a guy who looks at u the way jason looks at y/n", "if this isn't goals then idk what is", and so on.

After what felt like an eternity in heaven, you sang the last few lines of the songs and looked at Jason. He had a lovestruck expression in his eyes at he looked at you with a dopey grin. His glasses slid lower down his nose. You pushed them back up and poked his cheeks a few times to see if he was still there.

"Earth to Jase," you teased.

"Gods, you're amazing," he muttered as he kissed your cheek. The audience was going wild at this point. Honestly, you probably also had the same lovestruck look in your eyes, and everyone else could see how the two of you looked at each other.

You playfully pecked his lips and whispered an 'I love you' before turning back to the camera. "Okay," you breathed out with a grin, "so, um, that's it for this week I guess. I'll see you guys next week, or this weekend if you're coming to see the show. Good night guys, love y'all!"

Jason waved to the camera as you ended the stream. Now it was back to the two of you again in your apartment. You faced him, he still had that soft look in his eyes. Before you could say anything, he placed a finger under your chin and pressed his lips softly on yours. You melted into the kiss—no tongue, no movement, just a soft kiss that lasted for what felt like forever. If the song was your expression of how kuch you loved him, this was his expression to you. It held just as much love, maybe even more, as the song you serenaded him to.

He pulled away and grinned at you. "I can't wait to see the show on Saturday."

Your hand moved to caress his cheek. "Know that I'll sing that song with you in my mind. And I'll want to find you in the crowd so I can meet your eyes at least once so I can pretend like I'm singing it to you."

He smiled at your words. "I'll look forward to it, baby. I love you with all my heart, y/n. You have no idea how lovesick I am for you right now. You're crazy talented, like you just told me how much you loved me in a song, and you never even said the word love!"

His comments made you giggle. "Well, you did manage to take my breath away with that last kiss. And to be honest, you have no idea how much I've fallen in love again with you just now. You make me happy, Jason. And I can't remember how I even felt before I met you. I love you, Jase."

The two of you went back to cuddling on the couch, your e/c eyes would stare at his blue ones for hours. He would rub circles on your lower back and you would steal kisses every now and then. It was that sense of comfort again, amidst the bustling city of New York, you found a haven in each other's arms.

As long as you stayed with each other, you hoped that it would always be like this.
