Marvel Mystery Comics (1939) #7
#super cool to see Jim trying to find a place/purpose in the world#it makes sense to me that he would want to be a police officer#considering that’s what his one friend is#and the majority of people Jim has interacted with- due to his lifestyle- have been cops#it’s his primary counterpart to the other career he’s familiar with- scientist#instead of staying inside all day experimenting#he’s out in the world interacting with people#and attempting to live by his values of being against selfishness and crime#(but also Jim does enjoy being violent)#I also think it’s cool that this career choice involves an education and Jim studying for the first time in his life#as an aside I’ve been assuming that later comics will revisit this cop friend character#and present him as someone planted in Jim’s life to keep him on the right path#because that seems to me to be the most natural way to revisit this era for the character seriously#and the police bending the rules for Jim as an officer in this story supports that#marvel#timely publications#jim hammond#my posts#comic panels
