#as a parallel to kyana starting to realize that the safe comfortable tower she knew

A list of Kyana moments from Broken Circle so far, up to entering the Fade:
the moment where I had her just stare at the Tower for a while before going in. That was mostly me appreciating the view, but also, that’s probably the best look she’s gotten at the Tower from the outside. It must have been weird.
she was kind of in denial about the whole situation until meeting Wynne. Hearing a templar say “there were too many demons” made her think this was an instance of the templars being incompetent, and then the further she went up the Tower, the clearer it became that oh, it’s bad.
I already talked about the effect seeing her childhood home in ruins had on her, but, yeah.
meeting Wynne is a relief, since she’s a familiar face and someone Kyana can rely on, but also, having her around probably brings out old habits. Zevran has literally been in the party for a day at this point, so he has zero context for what’s going on, but for Alistair, it must be weird to see Kyana suddenly act… obedient? Polite? Actually asking someone for their opinion?
she couldn’t bring herself to finish off the wounded blood mage. That’s two maleficars in a row she’d let go, now. But I guess it’s more difficult when the blood mage actually tries to reason with you and even swears that she’ll turn her life around and seek shelter in the Chantry. Also, I played through both outcomes of that decision (killing the blood mage and sparing her) bc I wasn’t sure, and apparently Wynne and Alistair have no approval changes either way, which is… kind of surprising? I guess they’re also uncertain about the correct course of action. No approval changes after killing the possessed templar, either, but I didn’t check the other option this time, since it was pretty clear what Kyana would do.
another thing I mentioned is how in the chaos of Broken Circle, the sheer amount of “forbidden” old Tevinter stuff floating around the Tower becomes clear. That’s one of the reasons Kyana starts to question whether Circles even work, because, well, wasn’t the Circle supposed to prevent the use of forbidden magic? If blood mages still find a way to be blood mages inside the Tower, what’s even the point? (and on a more personal note to her: the Circle was supposed to be safe. It was supposed to be her safe place. And it failed her)
the outfit change is getting it’s own post, yes, it’s that important
#herearedragons meta#oc: kyana amell#actually: kyana accusing the desire demon of trapping the templar in false happiness and safety#as a parallel to kyana starting to realize that the safe comfortable tower she knew#wasn’t actually that safe or comfortable#she was just lucky to be isolated from the worst parts of it as an apprentice#which was good for her. I mean. she wasn’t mistreated like some other mages (anders for example)#but she’s currently angry at losing that version of the tower that never existed#also coming up to the final level of the tower and literally seeing the walls covered in blood magic ooze? very bad for her#oh and the tranquil being turned into abominations. EXTREMELY bad#she’s more attached to the tranquil than most mages#sloth doesn’t know what’s coming
