Day 4: House Stark
Arya, the lone wolf, still lived, but the wolves of the pack had been taken and slain and skinned.

ARYA STARK APPRECIATION WEEK:
DAY 1 : FAVORITE CHAPTER: CAT OF THE CANALS
It's really hard to choose a favorite Arya chapter but Cat of the Canals is really up there for me.
One of my favorite things about this chapter specifically is that we get to see Arya (who "Cat" basically is in all but name) interact with other people without the constant pain and stresses of war. I love that George decided that it was important to show the readers how Arya acts within a community and what we see is a girl who is kind, friendly, curious, helpful, confident, funny, and cared for by others.
Through Cat of the Canals, we get to see Arya Underfoot. She's everywhere with everyone and is so so so loved!

arya stark appreciation week → day 1: quote
Only the kindly man knew the Common Tongue. "Who are you?" he would ask her every day. "No one," she would answer, she who had been Arya of House Stark, Arya Underfoot, Arya Horseface. She had been Arry and Weasel too, and Squab and Salty, Nan the cupbearer, a grey mouse, a sheep, the ghost of Harrenhal . . . but not for true, not in her heart of hearts. In there she was Arya of Winterfell, the daughter of Lord Eddard Stark and Lady Catelyn, who had once had brothers named Robb and Bran and Rickon, a sister named Sansa, a direwolf called Nymeria, a half brother named Jon Snow. In there she was someone . . . but that was not the answer that he wanted.

ARYA STARK APPRECIATION WEEK 2024 ↳ Day 7: Foreshadowing → Reconciliation with Lady Stoneheart
"Stoneheart. Is that who you mean?" Lord Randyll had spoken of her, back at Maidenpool. "Lady Stoneheart." "Some call her that. Some call her other things. The Silent Sister. Mother Merciless. The Hangwoman."
A trestle table had been set up across the cave, in a cleft in the rock. Behind it sat a woman all in grey, cloaked and hooded. In her hands was a crown, a bronze circlet ringed by iron swords. She was studying it, her fingers stroking the blades as if to test their sharpness.
Brienne VIII, A Feast for Crows
"Mercy, Mercy, Mercy," she sang sadly.

arya stark appreciation week → day 5: romantic interests
"The Night's Watch will make for Hardhome. I ride to Winterfell alone, unless …" Jon paused. "… is there any man here who will come stand with me?" The roar was all he could have hoped for, the tumult so loud that the two old shields tumbled from the walls. Soren Shieldbreaker was on his feet, the Wanderer as well. Toregg the Tall, Brogg, Harle the Huntsman and Harle the Handsome both, Ygon Oldfather, Blind Doss, even the Great Walrus. I have my swords, thought Jon Snow, and we are coming for you, Bastard.

arya stark appreciation week day 7: endgame theories
"I heard the same thing from my cousin, and she's not the sort to lie," an old woman said. "She says there's this great pack, hundreds of them, mankillers. The one that leads them is a she-wolf, a bitch from the seventh hell."

ARYA STARK APPRECIATION WEEK:
DAY 3 : OVERLOOKED TRAITS: Arya's playfulness and protective instincts towards children!
Arya had loved nothing better than to sit at her father's table and listen to them talk. She had loved listening to the men on the benches too; to freeriders tough as leather, courtly knights and bold young squires, grizzled old men-at-arms. She used to throw snowballs at them and help them steal pies from the kitchen. Their wives gave her scones and she invented names for their babies and played monsters-and-maidens and hide-the-treasure and come-into-my-castle with their children. Fat Tom used to call her "Arya Underfoot," because he said that was where she always was. She'd liked that a lot better than "Arya Horseface." - Arya, AGoT
As they were running toward the barn, Arya spied the crying girl sitting in the middle of the chaos, surrounded by smoke and slaughter. She grabbed her by the hand and pulled her to her feet as the others raced ahead. The girl wouldn't walk, even when slapped. Arya dragged her with her right hand while she held Needle in the left. Ahead, the night was a sullen red. The barn's on fire, she thought. Flames were licking up its sides from where a torch had fallen on straw, and she could hear the screaming of the animals trapped within. Hot Pie stepped out of the barn. "Arry, come on! Lommy's gone, leave her if she won't come!" Stubbornly, Arya dragged all the harder, pulling the crying girl along. - Arya. ACoK

ARYA STARK APPRECIATION WEEK - Day 1: Favourite chapter
“Give me the cup,” he told the Stranger, “for I shall drink deep. And if it tastes of gold and lion’s blood, so much the better. As I cannot be the hero, let me be the monster, and lesson them in fear in place of love.”
Mercy mouthed the last lines along with him. They were better lines than hers, and apt besides. He’ll want me or he won’t, she thought, so let the play begin.

Overlooked Trait - Cautiousness
“Arya Stark,” the Knight said, “Come with us, child” Arya chewed her lip uncertainly. “What do you want?”
For an instant and froze. Up or down? Up would take her to the covered bridge that spanned the small court to the Tower of the Hand, but that would be the way they’d expect her to go, for certain […] Arya went down […]
She squirmed out into the yard, glancing warily as she climbed to her feet.
Moving between buildings and over walls, keeping stone to her back whenever possible so no one could surprise her.
Unlatching the door, she peaks out anxiously. She could hear the distant sound of swordplay, and a shivery wail of a man screaming across the bailey. She would need to go down the serpentine steps, past the small hall, past the small kitchen and the pig yard, that was how she’d gone last time, chasing the black tomcat…only that would lead her right past the barracks of the gold cloaks. Arya tried to think of another way. If she crossed to the other side of the castle, she could creep along the river wall and through the little gods wood…but first she’d have to cross the yard, in the plain sight of the guards on the walls.
It was the scariest thing she’d ever done. She wanted to run and hide, but she made herself walk across the yard slowly, putting one foot in front of the other as if she had all the time in the world and no reason to be afraid of anyone.

arya stark appreciation week → day 7: endgame speculation
307 AC. The Years of the True Spring. After giving up her wartime crown to her younger brother, Arya Stark travelled south to join Queen Daenerys' small council as Master of Laws. The question remained as to how to unite the two great houses of Targaryen and Stark… until rumours began to spread of a secret ceremony before the heart tree. Thereafter, the queen was rarely seen without her devoted "friend", and the bond between the North and South had never been stronger.

ARYA STARK APPRECIATION WEEK 2024 ↳ Day 1: Favorite book (A Storm of Swords)
And dreamed. That was the best part, the dreaming. She dreamed of wolves most every night. A great pack of wolves, with her at the head. She was bigger than any of them, stronger, swifter, faster. She could outrun horses and outfight lions. When she bared her teeth even men would run from her, her belly was never empty long, and her fur kept her warm even when the wind was blowing cold. And her brothers and sisters were with her, many and more of them, fierce and terrible and hers. They would never leave her.
