Thinkin about it, magic in Arwa and Esmeraldas universe does exist but it’s weird and hard to handle in pure form. Like, there are hundreds of people who learn and harness magic through things that are akin to chemistry or simple alchemy (let’s think of Kiki’s mom from Kiki’s delivery service; things like medicine and small charms/potions). This type of magic is much easier to learn and work with, still takes a lot of studying and dedication but it’s not too bad.

However, pure magic relies on elements and your connection to said elements. I wouldn’t say I’d want to only focus on the major 4 (water, earth, fire, air) but there are aspects of the world that people can harness and use if they have a grasp on one of the 4. For example, someone who is good with water is much more likely to be proffecient with things like plant growth and some biology. Fire users namely rely on already existing flame, heat, and light. They are not able to outright produce flame from their body, but they can heat up and control/effect light. And people can be only good with one of those aspects rather than being a full fire elemental (so, someone can be good with harnessing and control light, but have no real grasp on controlling flame)

This type of magic is not common at all though!! Most people have very small potential in having even a little control, but even that takes years of work, studying, and practice. Most people who are really good with it are in their early to mid-middle ages.

Another idea I have is like, unidentifiable or uh, more like intangible magic. This is something that is still being researched in this universe and difficult to label or explain. It’s kind of like a certain energy someone has and how that interacts with their world, perhaps they can make little things happen when feeling a certain emotion, maybe they can sense that a certain event will take place, that sort of thing. (I wanna go into depth with that type of magic and what type of people can actually use it, or even know that they have it) that’s the problem with this type of magic and why it’s so hard to determine, sometimes people don’t even know they have those abilities cause it can be so subtle.
