my roman empire is arven's thoughts on his parents bcus holy shit
pokemon sv spoilers. seriously
What fucks me up every time is the fact that the professor is dead before the story starts. The professor DIES and Arven has lived for so long thinking his parents didn't love him, that they favored their research more than him, and in a way he's right. But in reality, they loved him. And he had to hear it from a robot that wore their face, along with finding out they were dead the whole time.
It absolutely eats me up inside, because Arven's entire world flips on it's head when we go down to area zero. He's not even allowed time to grieve, seeing as even the ai version of his parent leaves too. IT DESTROYS ME. DESTROYS. ME.

Sliding some TrainerClavell AU doodles here, as discussed with @ameftowriter haha.
The TLDR for this AU is that Clavell takes MC’s place, saving Miraidon & Koraidon during the start game where he hands you your pokemon. He travels around Paldea as Clive for Team Star, has an accidental rivalry with Nemona as Clive, and helps Arven out with finding Herba mystica. AU details here.
The opportunity for Clive hilarity in contrast to the devastating angst of meeting AI versions of your once close, now dead, friends. Deliciousss. Clavell has a lot on his plate lol. Lord help me, why can I only make chicken scratch doodles these days sdlkfjngds.

Mabostiff is never alone, there will always be someone there with him.
After The Accident, Mabostiff would sleep basically all day long. He’s not as bad as he is in canon toh, because now Arven has actual help. Clavell and Jacq worked hard to make Mabostiff feel better and they somehow stabilized him. He’s slowly getting better everyday but he’s still hurt in a way both scientists can’t understand… Maybe, Arven thought one day, the answer is inside that book mom always talked about…
Still, he’s never really left alone.
Every morning, Houndoom brings him their toys, maybe this time he’s gonna finally get up and play with him…
Arven comes home every afternoon and tells Mabostiff about his day. He talks about school, about some new recipe he learned and wants to try and what he did with his (very few) friends.
Clavell sometimes needs to drag both Arven and Houndoom away or they would stay with Mabostiff the whole day and night (especially the first few weeks after the accident) But once the other two are asleep, he often go and sit with the sick Pokemon for a few hours at night. He checks on him and helps if he’s feeling bad or if he’s hungry and thirsty and, like Arven, he talks to him. He promises him he’s going to help him and that he’ll stay by Arven’s side now that the Pokemon is unable to. He doesn’t want Arven to know but he feels guilty as well for what happened. He wasn’t there to help his kids.
And if the next morning, when this cycle restarts again, Arven and Houndoom find him asleep near Mabostiff, neither of them say anything because it just means Mabostiff wasn’t alone that night

thinks very hard about that indigo disk cutscene at crystal pool. how the player character is the catalyst for EVERYTHING in scarlet/violet... both good and bad.
from the discovery of paradox pokemon, the professor's eventual death BC of that discovery, arven losing the only family he has, the ai and paradise protocol continuing to bring in paradox pokemon despite the dangers they present, paldea almost being destroyed by paradox pokemon, everything that happens in kitakami and blueberry academy, finding terapagos and meeting the prof...
like I know it's a kids game and the game is About paradoxes and that professor is theoretically from a different reality, but i feel GUILTY for that alternate reality and all that will come bc I gave the professor the book. so many lives will be shifted and changed bc of that decision. juliana/florian are just KIDS, but god they (and briar, since it her book) just affected the lives of so many people and I just! that's so crazy to me!
I already loved what pokemon has done with multiverses and alternate realities, but scarlet/violet kind of takes it to the next level (at least in terms of fic and art potential - I'm v curious how they incorporate this into the anime and manga)

Some thoughts and headcanons born from @k-chips amazing art of AI!Clavell and a more cohesive gathering of my little idea dump there. This gonna be a long one, so strap in.
To start, the meat of my idea from that post (bold is me just adding context now)
It was their (Sada/Turo) invention- the time machine- that got the original Clavell killed. Like they brought our Raidon forward, but during their time back on the surface they realize how much of Arven's life they're missing out on, and Clavell is like "You spend time with the kid, I'll keep researching, when Arven is around 16-17 we can swap spots" but shit went sideways when, while down there with Raidon, the second, feral Raidon is summoned and the game follows the tragedy we all discover.
So, in this timeline, Sada/Turo aren't as obsessed with their research. When they bring Koraidon/Miraidon (just for the sake of convenience, we will be using Pokemon Scarlet as a base as that's the version I play going forward, but remember this also applies to Violet) to the surface, Arven is around maybe 8 or 9 and Koraidon is around the same age based on journal entries mentioning how she "expected one gift of life, and now she has two" after mentioning bringing Kor foward in time, is when Sada realizes she's missing out on so much of her son's life, and that creating Paradise is worthless if it means destroying what remains of her little family.
Enter Clavell: he's still somewhat involved with her research in Area Zero and suggests she stay and raise Arven and he'll work on her research with the AI she began developing, and when Arven is old enough they can swap spots and she can return to Area Zero. She agrees, and after the event causing Kor to be sent back to the Crater, Sada and Clavell keep in constant contact with her and Arven occasionally making trips down to visit.
4 years before the game, the 2nd Koraidon (I'll refer to it either as feral Kor or Rex (in reference to its dex entry calling him the Winged King)) is brought to our time. Rex attacks Kor, and Clavell follows the battle to Research Station 4, the AI giving him updates on the battle. He arrives just in time to see Kor backed into a corner with Rex ready to give the killing blow. Clavell shields Kor, having practically raised it, and is killed by the feral Koraidon.
The AI panics, Kor is injured and flees, and suddenly Clavell stops calling and refuses any suggestions to come visit from Sada. He only communicates via email for a year, and when he finally video calls its to say that if he needs anything from her or if there are any developments in the project, he will reach out to her and to stop disturbing him.
Sada of course is upset by this. Angry that he basically told her to fuck off on what is technically both her and Clavell's research (bc she's probably been working on her research while still raising and spending time with her son), and worried as her friend and mentor has never been like this.
Not sure how Clavell would become Academy Director in this timeline unless Team Star's actions at the school take place a bit before Clavell dies, and just before he's killed Clavell had accepted becoming director, but requested time to finish his work and that Sada be his temp replacement (or something, still working the kinks out on this one)
Anyways, a year before the game Arven- who misses Clavell and is both mad at him for upsetting his mom and worried for his safety- enters the Crater and during this, Mabosstiff is attacked by something (in Scarlet, I personally think it was either a Slitherwing or a Roaring Moon, but the later means that they were lucky to even escape alive, as Roaring Moon doesn't seem to be one to leave its prey alive.).
Game occurs, Sada being acting Director while juggling investigating Team Star, her research, raising her son and trying to help Mabosstiff, and looking into what could have happened to Clavell, who suddenly hasn't been responding to anything despite how he should have returned to take over as Director. She's surprised to see Kor, but AIClavell calls and says that Kor must have missed Sada and Arven and gives ownership of Kor to the player. Sada figures it would be good for the lizard to get experience via your Treasure Hunt and requests you take care of it as it's like her second child.
Game proceeds as normal till Area Zero. Sada joins the gang in the Great Crater partially because she knows how dangerous it can be and she can't just allow 4 teens to stroll in there unsupervised (why Clavell would even request a child enter the Crater is something that bothers her), and partially to see what's going on down there. She's basically bouncing up and down seeing her paradise having been created, but recognizes that should the Paradox mons escape, it would destroy Paldea's ecosystems. When you go to talk with AIClavell at the lab, she stays outside at first with Arven to hold off the Paradox mons trying to get in.
When she finally sees AI Clavell and discovers the OG Clavell is dead, she is in a state of shock. It was her invention, her dream that resulted in her best friend and mentor's death, and that this entire time she hadn't even been communicating with him, but the AI she created to help Clavell.
AI Clavell needs someone to stop the machine as he knows his human self would want the same, but the Paradise Protection Protocol kicks in, much to Sada- who had it as a failsafe should the time machine detect that a Pokémon was attacking it, not if someone was simply powering it down- and AI Clavell- who didn't even know it existed- horror.
I might add more to this, but yeah. TLDR, Clavell stays in Area Zero so Sada can raise Arven, Clavell is killed protecting Kor, Sada is Director instead, AI Clavell battles you.

“Hey, would you like to hang out today?”
“I’m so sorry Arven, but I’m fully booked with fan meetups and interviews. We’ll have to try again sometime soon, okay?”
Alright, not a big deal. He can just try again some other time.
Arven hung up the phone and put on some more comfortable clothes, now deciding to stay in for the day. He had hoped to take you out to lunch today, so he dressed a little nicer than usual. It made sense that you were busy, being champion and all isn’t just about having battles and doing whatever you want. Mabosstiff looked up at him, a little disappointed since he liked spending time with your Pokemon, and was itching for a battle soon.
⚛》》》》》◆《《《《《⚛
“Hey buddy, are you down to go to the park? Mabosstiff wants to see you.”
He felt bad bugging you again only two days later, so he figured he’d try to persuade you with Mabosstiff.
“Ahh, I’ve got a battle with an important trainer from Kalos in a few minutes, and I hear she’s got a strong team. I’m not sure how long the battle will last, so I can’t make any promises for today. Sorry, Arven!”
No dice. Alright, maybe he just has to give more of a heads-up before meetings? It’s gotta work one of these days.
⚛》》》》》◆《《《《《⚛
“Hi again champ, wanna make sandwiches together on Wednesday?” He was hopeful about this one, planning all of it out.
“Oh! That sounds fun! Let me see my calendar- aw shoot, I’ve got lunch with Geeta where we plan on discussing some league things. I’m sorry Arven, maybe some other time?”
Arven had already planned all around that timing, not like he had much else to do, so he made an extra two sandwiches for later, just in case.
It couldn’t be that you were avoiding him, right? You two were so close and worked so well together while fighting the titans, you must really just have a busy schedule, right?
He ate his sandwich alone, never being able to clear his mind of your image.
⚛》》》》》◆《《《《《⚛
Arven was out shouting moves for his Pokemon to use the next time he saw you. He was close to calling out to you, but decided against it, remembering how it’s been lately with your busy schedule. To his surprise, as soon as you heard his comforting voice and caught sight of his unique hair, you ran right over to him, calling out his name. You didn’t catch the way his smile grew slightly bigger.
“Oh, hey! I figured you’d be busy today, what brings you here?”
“This is like, my only day off this week. It’s been terrible lately, not a minute to myself!” You keep complaining about how all of a sudden everybody needs you to make decisions for the league, to do interviews, make ads, try on stupid clothes, go to all these dumb meetings, and so on. The both of you take a seat on a bench nearby and you eventually get to mentioning that you came here to train, since you’re got a handful of trainers you have to battle soon. You absentmindedly begin to run your fingers through Mabosstiff’s fur.
Arven always loved how you cared so much for Pokémon, always treating them with respect and going out of your way to treat them with such care. He never missed the way you’d scratch behind Mabosstiff’s ear because you noticed that he really liked that, or how you’d always offer your Pokémon their favorite treats after trying new, difficult things or winning a hard battle. Or even when you’d offer to heal up a trainer’s Pokémon for them, and not be afraid to call out those who didn’t respect their own Pokémon. It seemed like it came so naturally to you, and Arven truly thinks you’re perfect Champion potential, even with all the complaining.
“Sorry about the rant, I’ve just been so pent up lately. How’ve you and Mabosstiff been? Taking good care of yourself?”
Your tone was so sincere, you definitely did care about him and thought of him as a friend, right? You surely couldn’t have been avoiding him with how honest you sound right now.
He begins your guys’ first actual conversation in weeks, glad to finally be able to catch up with you. You were always so hard-working, especially during the gym challenge and while taking down Team Star, so you ended up not having much time with Arven back then, either. Actually, the only time you ever did get to hang out with him was when you were battling for your lives against the Titans. At the odd time, he was able to get his eyes off of the danger in from of him and take a glance at you, while you were completely entranced in the battle. He could tell that that was all that was on your mind, and he probably barely existed to you in those moments.
The sandwiches afterward were another story though, savoring every bite and being sure to thank him and his godly sandwich-making skills over and over. He cherishes those moments with you. He didn’t get to see that wide smile after beating a Titan very often and adored the way you would sway from side to side a little when you were extra glad about how tasty his sandwich tasted.
But all good things come to an end eventually. With a short call from Geeta telling you about some rogue pokemon that was hurting people, you were off in seconds.
Arven comforted Mabosstiff after hearing a whine from him, sad that you left so quickly. Well, at least he was able to get a few minutes with you.
⚛》》》》》◆《《《《《⚛
The next time he tried to call, he was turned down immediately. Maybe you were on a call already? So he tried again a few minutes later, with the same outcome.
And again a few days later.
Same problem a week later.
And then two, then three. 'Why can’t I get ahold of you? Did I get blocked by you? Did you really hate that last meeting you had, and never wanted to talk to me again?' No no, that’s going way too far. But why, just why are you ignoring him? Maybe they just need some space, he thought. Arven put down his phone with a shaky hand, pulling his blankets back over him, ready to waste another day away. Mabosstiff comes to cuddle him, letting Arven bask in his warmth, hopefully gaining some kind of comfort. The stinging in his eyes may not express his gratefulness, but at least he has one buddy that always sticks around.
⚛》》》》》◆《《《《《⚛
Meanwhile, you’re in Galar, visiting for a few weeks to challenge their strongest trainers. There’s an event going on, and lots of strong trainers and champions are all meeting up. Your mind is completely occupied with planning out sentences for when you meet these people and coming up with strategies for when you battle these people. Leon’s Charizard knows a grass-type move, so using a rock-type might be good. Man, you also have to consider other stuff like abilities and what strategies your opponents might attempt. So bothersome. The time difference isn’t helping either, and all these new people are giving you a headache. You know that most of these people are going through the same things, but you’ve all gotta sit, smile and act professional.
You finally get back to your temporary hotel suite, hoping to get some rest for the day. But of course, with no time to yourself, you get a call from your Public Relations Team. They’re the people who are meant to promote and protect your brand. They also get to control ‘unwanted’ notifications. Without them, you’d be getting tens of thousands of notifications from whatever social sites and random people trying to text and message you. It turns out that there's this one person that has been trying to contact you, and one of the newbies thought that it was some rando. They’ve realized how grave their mistake is when the entire top three floors of the hotel can hear you shouting into your phone.
There’s a good chance that this decision may end your career as a Champion and may even get you banned from lots of places, but that isn’t even a thought in your mind right now.
You have to go see Arven now. Your face is burning with the frustration of a thousand suns, and the private jet’s pilot taking you home doesn’t even want to risk breathing wrong, or he might get thrown off.
Once you land, you have one of your bigger pokemon carrying you, running around Paldea as fast as possible while on the hunt for Arven. You’ve now calmed down and are now moreso in a state of panic rather than frustration, hoping that everything’s alright and everything is going on just as usual. You knew that he didn’t get lots of comfort growing up, and you knew that he didn’t have many- or even any- friends. You truly hope that he had just forgotten about you at this point. You’ve tried time and time again to call Arven, and nothing. You turned on your notifications and prayed to Arceus that he’d get back to you.
There he was. You had finally found him hours later. He was sitting at his picnic set up, feeding Mabosstiff the last piece of his sandwich. The biggest sigh of relief left you as you hurried over to him, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder, ready to explain and apologize to him.
Arven immediately recognizes the hand and stands up abruptly, feeling immediate anger bubble up within him. Swinging his arm forcefully to get your hand off of him, a yell leaves his mouth and he sends you flying.
He takes a step back to intake the situation and feels instant regret, his conscience getting back at him, telling him that you’re still a person too, and he has no reason to lash out at you like this.
Then he catches the watery look in your eye and how tears threaten to fall. 'Did I… did I hurt you? Why is it so loud all of a sudden? I hurt my closest, my only friend? Everything’s so bright, why do I feel nauseous? Did I hurt the only person who was ever even somewhat close to me? No, no, NO! Please don’t leave me, I didn’t mean to hurt you. Please, please stay with me. I need you. Please comfort me. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for bugging you and being so annoying, I'm sorry for making you fight the Titans, I'm so sorry for-
Arven feels warm arms wrap around him. One goes up to pet the top of his head, while the other rubs circles on his back. He slumps into their body without any thought, his mind going blank. Gentle fingers continue to make their way through his hair, and the circles being drawn on his back don’t stop. It’s the only thing he can focus on right now.
With the softest voice you can muster, you begin to talk.
“Arven, sweetheart, I know I apologize often, but I mean it every time. And please, please accept this as my most sincere apology, I am so very sorry for not being here when you needed me most. I always wanted to spend time with you, but I let other things get in the way of that, and foolishly accepted that.”
You weren’t hurt by him, not at all. Well, on the outside at least. You felt so very bad emotionally for what you’ve put him through, and can’t bear it anymore. You take a deep breath in and encourage Arven to do the same. He slowly tries to accept the situation and sits on the ground. You sit on Arven’s lap and continue to hug him and run your fingers through his hair, then bring them to cradle his face in your palms as comfortably as you can, to make sure he’s completely focused on you. He absentmindedly rests his head in your palms and nuzzles into them.
“It’s okay, I’m here now. I will not leave you anymore. I’ll stay here for as long as you want me to.”
You let go of his chin and bring his head closer to you for a comforting hug, you sit there in silence.
Until the inevitable happens. You feel a vibration in your pocket and contemplate even taking it out to hang up. You end up letting go of Arven with a soft ‘sorry’, and your hand makes its way to your pocket.
'Hey, are you just trying to toy with my emotions? Is this really just going to happen all over again? Did everything you just say mean nothing to you?'
You take your phone out and answer on speaker. Geeta is fuming and insists that you must be at the champion dinner and that this is incredibly unacceptable and blah blah blah.
Without a care in the world, you utter your next sentence;
“Alright, sure… as long as I get to bring Arven as a date.”
The silence coming from the phone and Arven would be deafening if you even cared a little about what she’d say. Worst case scenario, she starts yelling at you through the phone and you hang up on her and continue to cuddle with Arven, or, best case scenario;
“Fine. Hurry back over to Galar, you should make it on time if you leave in less than an hour. That may give you time to get prepared for the dinner itself.”
As much as you want to stay and comfort Arven, you’d much rather bring him to the Champion dinner as a sign of rebellion. And as a sign of love towards Arven because you are bringing him as a date, but that’s not important.
You quickly stand up and offer your hand to Arven, silently asking him if he accepts your offer to this ‘date’. He grabs your smaller hand, and you’re off to pick out your nicest clothing and hurry over to Galar.
⚛》》》》》◆《《《《《⚛
You and Arven are at long last sitting down, picking away at the fancy food in front of you after such a hectic day.
“Finally.” Arven lets out a sigh of relief, everything that just happened eventually processing.
“Hm?”
“I hope this means we get to spend more time together.”
“I’ll make sure of it. I’ll apologize for being away so much and not being better, and I’m ending that cycle right now. I’ll be there for you whenever you need me, even if I’m just a phone call or text away. I was definitely clear about you being an important contact, so there’ll be no more mix-ups.” You try to lighten the mood, and also want to clarify how important he is to you. Maybe what you said wasn’t enough, let’s try that again.
“Hey.” Arven focuses on your serious expression, as well as the way your hands meet his.
“I’ve loved you this whole time, and I’m going to act on it now. I’ll hug you whenever you need me to, I’ll give you a kiss on the cheek whenever you want. If you need some words of comfort, I’m here.”
“...And if you want a date? Well, I’ll just have to clear my schedule.”

Arven x Reader
Hi! I wanted to ask if you could make an Arven x reader story. Basically the readers reveals their original partner died and Arven comforts them. Feel free to change the details to whatever suits you, I just put some examples in there cause that’s how think I it would go down. Thank you
Short: Takes place after path of legends, arven asks the reader why they helped him and then confessed about their dead Pokémon partner
Long (and a bit specific) : A bit after Mabosstiff recovered, Arven asks the reader why they helped him. The reader opens up confess that they actually used to be a champion from the ____ (ex. Unova) region. They had a partner Pokémon ____(ex. Hydreigon) and had to give up the title after being unable to move on from their death because of an unfortunate battle accident (ex. Killed by rockslide). Reveals that they moved to Paldea trying to move on, and didn’t want to see the same thing happen to him. Reader reminisce and eventually breaks down about their dead partner, with Arven (and Mabosstiff!) to comfort them.
Whoa, I appreciate you adding all those extra details!! Really helps me get a better idea of what you want ^^ I hope you enjoy the outcome x
Loved and Lost (Arven x GN!Galarian!Reader)
Rating: G ? (Pokémon death) | WC: 1,362
“Why’d you do it?”
You lift your view towards the curious voice. Arven’s face, riddled with mild concern, is beautifully lit by the campfire a few feet in front of him; his Mabosstiff snuggled up at his side, the Pokémon’s head consuming your friend’s lap.
“Do what?”
“Help us." He sighs, taking his eyes off you and focusing on the flames.
It’s been weeks since you and Arven defeated the last of the Titan Pokémon together, thus saving his partner from the brink of death. You’re surprised that it’s been brought back up, honestly. You didn’t think it would still be on his mind.
“We’re best friends now, but back then… I was just some guy shoving my problems onto you.” Arven’s turquoise eyes raise back to yours, and he continues, “Why risk your life to help a complete stranger?”
It’s your turn to sigh. Your eyes scan his face as you realize it’s time to give him your own story. It feels like a Bind strangling your heart every time you recall it, but Arven deserves to know.
“I don’t tell a lot of people this,” you begin, your voice soft. “But before I came here, I was already the Champion in Galar.”
“Y-you– What? Seriously?”
You nod. “It’s not all it’s cracked up to be… Too much spotlight, too many people to please, too many expectations set on you to always give training and battling your absolute 100%. It makes sense on the surface, for a Champion to have a drive like that… but it was too much.
I had been having a rough time for months. Leon, the former Champion and my new boss, would’ve probably been more than willing to accommodate me had I needed a break, but I didn’t want to let him down. He and his little brother were my closest buds over there, we practically grew up together.”
A shaky breath racks you as you truck on. “But then, I let my partner down.”
Tears well in your eyes as you peer at Arven, who’s lightly urging Mabosstiff off of his lap. The instant your friend noticed you beginning to cry, he wanted to be by your side to provide you solace. Your gaze follows him as he stands up, just to settle back down at your right, his large left hand brushing against your back for comfort.
“What do you mean?” he mutters, his irises locked onto yours.
From the corner of your eye, you see a figure move. Mabosstiff rises from his spot, stretches, and settles to your left, now using your thighs as a pillow. You laugh beneath watery tear ducts as you begin to pet the giant dog Pokémon.
Your view is still on Mabosstiff as you keep going. “My Cinderace – the first Pokémon I ever caught – died in battle.” You exhale, then describe how it happened.
“It was during this tournament Leon hosted after he became Chairman of the League: The Galarian Star Tournament. It was a bracket-style thing, with double battles between Gym Leaders and Champions, current and former. Most of us were friends, so it was a fun change of pace from our usual League duties together.
I was paired up with Piers, another one of my closest buddies over there, who was the Dark-type Gym Leader. That title goes to his sister Marnie now. We were battling against Mustard, a Fighting-type specialist and former Champion, and Peony, another former Champion, who’s keen with Steel-type Pokémon.”
A smile creeps up on you through your sniffles as you recall the beginning of the battle, lifting your face to see Arven’s. He’s still intently watching you as you recall that day.
“Cinderace and I freakin’ destroyed Peony, right off the bat – type-matchups, and all.”
Arven grins too. “Hell yeah, Little Buddy.” He holds up a fist for you to bump, so you meet it with yours.
Dropping the hand back to Mabosstiff’s fluffy head, you get back to your spiel. “Piers was holding up well against Mustard in the meantime, surprisingly enough. I still wonder to this day if Mustard was going easy on him, since Piers doesn’t Dyna- or Gigantamax. Either way, it was practically a side-by-side single battle, up until Piers’ Obstagoon was downed.”
“Then, it was my Dynamaxed Cinderace versus Mustard’s Gigantamaxed Water/Fighting Urshifu.” Getting to the hard part, your body begins to quiver and your voice cracks. “Urshifu used G-Max Rapid Flow, which is strong enough that it doesn’t need to hit to do monstrous amounts of damage… but I guess his paws slipped, or something.” Finally, a sob bubbles in your throat, and you break. “It hit Cinderace face-first.”
Arven wraps his arms around you, and you bury yourself in his chest. After whispering your name, he offers, “I’m so, so sorry.”
You simply shake your head. You chose to recollect the story for him. It’s something you want Arven, and only Arven, to know about.
Nemona would freak out over having befriended a Galarian Champion, as Galar’s League is seen as one of the most prestigious in the world. Definitely would’ve felt bad about Cinderace, but she’d probably had overdone it in trying to distract you from the situation, thus stressing you out more. You’d never be allowed to forget about it. She’d never let it go.
Penny, on the other hand, would probably be uncomfy, had she known so many details about your epic-to-tragic backstory. You’re close with her, but not that close.
And if word got out to the rest of Paldea… chances are, the Galarian League would creep its way back into your life. You plan to eventually take that beast on someday, but it’s far too soon.
As you soak your friend’s shirt, you start to wrap things up. “I know neither Mustard nor Urshifu meant for it to happen. They were at Cinderace’s side just as quickly as I was, checking to see if he was okay… but he’d never felt so cold, Arven.”
You take a second to breathe before getting to your point. Basking in the soothing way he’s rubbing your back while pressing kisses against the crown of your head. Makes your heart flutter. You’re unsure if they’re platonic or romantic pecks, but you only have a split second to contemplate it before dread consumes you again.
“If I’d quit sooner, I probably wouldn’t have been in that tournament, and that wouldn’t have happened. So, I resigned as soon as I saw Leon again, and fled from Galar the following week, not even saying ‘goodbye’ to anyone. I was too terrified that they’d convince me to stay, and I’d be haunted by what happened there for good.”
You pull away to see Arven’s face. He offers you his hands, and you take them.
“Then, I met you. I-I’m not gonna lie to you, dude, but at first, you were a distraction,” you bashfully smile through the pain. He laughs, luckily.
“But then, you introduced me to Mabosstiff, and I saw his tired eyes and weak breaths, and…” You release a palm from Arven’s and stroke the Pokémon’s fur. “A-and I knew I needed to keep helping you two. It didn’t matter what it took. It didn’t even matter that I barely knew you, at that point. All that mattered was that Mabosstiff would be okay, and that you would be okay. That you wouldn’t need to go through what I did.”
“That’s… wow,” Arven quietly replies. He leans his forehead to yours and closes his eyes. “I’ve thanked you plenty already…” his eyes flutter open, and he grins. “But seriously. Thank you. I don’t think I’ll ever really be able to repay you–”
“You already did,” you smile as his thumb strokes some tears from your face. Placing your hand on top of his, you explain, “Helping you two has helped me move on, in a way. It still hurts, and I don’t think I’ll ever truly be over what happened, but it feels like making sure you two are alive and well gave me some of the closure I needed.”
You sigh, then slip out, “Plus, I got you out of it.”

DRABBLE #1
(not requested, demonstrating writing capabilities)
idk i just kinda wrote this... use this as an example for my work i suppose :) also, for requests i will make them a bit longer than this is, just a heads up. (vague character name mentions, other than carmine and kieran- and fem prons. for reader/mc)
A small knock at the door could be heard, yet she ignored it. Her mind was clouded with feelings of guilt, shame, and anger at her own self for the way things had ended up regarding the events in Kitakami.
The one thing she would never forget was the way Kieran looked at her after he had found out. He looked... broken. Hurt by the choices she made. It almost felt as if the light had completely dissipated from within him, leaving a cruel husk of the boy behind.
The way her heart shattered as she heard him utter 6 words that catastrophically made her truly realize the significance of both hers and Carmine's actions when he walked away. "...Why? Why'd you lie to me?"
After all that, she couldn't bare the thought of what she had done, even if it wasn't her idea. He must hate me, the girl thought, as a slight breeze knocked a pokéball that had been very clearly collecting dust right off of the top shelf of her desk and into her line of sight.
The sight of it made her freeze up for a singular moment, it was as if the universe was trying to tell her something mayhaps. The girl let out a breath that she didn't even know she was holding, as she picked up the pokéball- clutching it tightly in her grasp.
"It's been a while, huh." She murmured, her finger clearing the remaining dust off of the ball. She set it back down, and decided to send a letter. Maybe things could actually work out. This gave her hope.
Unfortunately that hope wouldn't last long, as days, weeks, and months went by and not a single letter or anything in response. Maybe she truly had screwed everything up. She should've told him in the beginning, against Carmine's judgment.
Maybe then, if it went that way, in another time, he wouldn't hate her.

Hi! I wanted to ask if you could make an Arven x reader story. Basically the readers reveals their original partner died and Arven comforts them. Feel free to change the details to whatever suits you, I just put some examples in there cause that’s how think it would go down. Thank you
Short: Arven x reader, takes place after path of legends, arven asks the reader why they helped him and then confessed about their dead Pokémon partner
A few days ago I had almost the same idea. The reader sympathize with Arven from experience And then there’s flufff
I’m so sorry if it’s very short 🥺
I know the feeling.
Arven x reader
Warnings: This fic contains angst but a happy ending? Xd
Tumblr media
You both left the cave, where you found the last mystical herb. Mabosstiff recovered completely even though neither of you were sure if he is still able to participate in a battle. Anyway, you were happy for the good being of the pokemon, especially Arven, who has cried a lot, hugging his friend. You try to contain your tears for the emotion and for a not so happy memory.
“Hey, thank you, about everything.” Arven told you with a smile. He adjusted his backpack while he looked at you tenderly. His eyes were still swollen for crying so much. “It’s ok. I'm glad I could help.” You smile at him to raise his spirits a little but you had something in mind that you couldn’t stop thinking. “You know, not everyone does this, generally, when people see something dangerous like the titans, they run away, but you? You stand firm and go with everything.” Arven made you compliments and in his eyes, shine for every word he said, you knew he was telling the truth.
You looked away sadly, without telling him anything. Obviously Arven noticed your change of mood. “A-re you okey? D-did I say something bad? I'm so sorry, I didn’t mean to-" “No, It’s not that. It’s just…” You stopped walking to think, without taking your eyes off your shoes. Arven looked at you patiently. “Do you remember that I told you that I lived in Unova?” “Yes, why?” Arven tilts his head confused with your question. “Well… I was a… Champion in Unova.” “YOU WHAT?!” Arven jumped because of how surprised he was, raising his arms up. He scared you a little because of his reaction. “You're a champion in Unova?!” “I say I was a champion… The thing is.” You took a breath before continuing.
“My first pokemon was a Deino, I’ve had it since I was little and he was my best friend. We always win the battles and he accompanies me in all the antics I did. Thanks to him, I became a champion in Unova. I thought, that my life as a pokemon trainer was being excellent, but…” You were trying to explain him well but you felt that the words confuse you.
“There was this battle, a boy who was also looking to be a champion too, I thought that it was a typical day where I keep winning jeje… Trust consumed me and…” You scratched your head and then you played with your hands anxiously. “My Hydreigon was tired and he had no energy left to continue, I should have returned it to his pokeball but, I thought, that it wasn’t so bad that he can continue.” You tried with all your strength not to cry and you felt that if you looked at Arven, you were going to explode. So you kept your eyes on the ground. “The boy used the rocks slide… He hurt Hydreigon… Pretty bad… I lost the battle but… I also lost him.” Arven looks at you with sadness, knowing what you were saying. “I retired from the title and moved here… I just wanted to move on but I always felt… Guilt and an emptiness of impotence.” You looked up, your eyes were shining with tears. “When you tell me about Mabosstiff, I wanted to help you and do everything I could so he could recovers because… Even if it sounds selfish… I wanted to feel that I was helping my Hydreigon… But, I didn’t want you felt the same pain as me either…”
In that, you felt like Arven hugged you tightly, hiding his face on your shoulder. For the affection, you couldn’t hold it anymore and the tears fell on your cheeks. You hugged him back with force and you also hid your face. Just remember the adventures you had with Hydreigon, you broke up in tears. “I'm so sorry for that but, Don’t blame yourself, please. It’s wasn’t your fault… and I know that, you’re going to feel that way for a long time but I want you to know, that you won’t be alone. I’ll be with you. Just as you were with me with Mabosstiff.” By saying his name, the pokemon came out of his pokeball to comfort you too, listening to a “woof” on his part. You looked at him and pet him to appreciate his concern. Also Miraidon/Koraidon he came out of his pokeball to be with you. “H-hey! Nobody called you, you damn lizard.” Arven claiming the pokemon, as always, and this one was just happy because Arven was paying attention to him, It made you laugh. Cheer you up a little.
Arven wipes your tears with his finger, leaving his hands on your cheeks. “Thank you for telling me. You’re a great person, (Y/N). I'm glad that I met you.” Te sonrió con ternura.
You knew that the pain was never going to go away but at least you prevented it from happening again. And that you will never be alone, just as Arven said.
