now, on to serious business, is Armin getting hijacked?

Well, it's no secret I've always wanted to expand on that famous table scene where he looks absolutely deranged. It has kept me up in late hours, even during work, thinking of all sorts of things he would say if he were to get hijacked. Armin's words can comfort people but they could also just as easily cut and flog when he's at his worst.

Imagining him saying horrendous things he would never say to Annie haunts me at night. Imagining him recovering like Peeta equally destroys me.

TOP 10 favourite AA fanfics?

Wow this is interesting.

I'm a real sucker for Modern AUs with a bit sprinkle of Canon-divergence or post canon fics.

Here are my top ten favourite AA fics on AO3 (Not in order)

1. Faking It by brittle_bluebell - I'm sure this is one of the most notable modern au fic and my very first AA fic after taking a very long break from AOT fandom.

2. Daisy Chains by brittle_bluebell - Still in its early stage of the story but the plot is quite interesting.

3. Village by the End of the World (Part 5/5) by moonspirits - Can't say more. This whole series saved me from boredom and long hour flights without internet.

4. What Might Have Been by trullie_126 - Super love this high school AU.

5. Who painted the sky? by dude_why_3 - One of the fics I downloaded during the AO3 apocalypse but just started reading recently. My life saver during my sleepless nights.

6.My Yellow Light in Your Soft Whispers by Anna_Wayne - On hiatus but its very worth to read. Kind of a punch in the gut.

7. The Difference Between Us by BreakingSanity - One of the longest fic I read. Very engaging and very unique theme. PS, Armin is extra mega cute here. Break and I have been brainrotting a lot lately so there's more to it.

8. Longing you, longing us two by ladyleonhart - No Strings Attached Aruani. Modern AU ofc

9. Where the Spirit meets the Bones by aruxani - with only two chapters, I know this fic is going to break me.

1. Three ships: Well, I'm sorry, but my heart is completely devoted to AruAni. These two have a tight grip on me for a very long time (it's been 11 years...), and I honestly doubt any other ship will have such an effect on me. But I also love YumiHisu, JeanPiku and PokoPiku.

2.First ever ship: oh... I don't even remember, to be honest. So let's say - AruAni. First love for life :D

Unfortunately I think I'm the wrong person for this question xD I'm not a swiftie, nor have I listened to any of her songs, so I don't know what Armin being a swiftie would entail haha xD

But other fans will have opinions, I'm sure!

I can't decide which out would be the bigger insomniac out of Annie and Armin. Annie probably adores sleep and I do think she prefers sleeping in late (Armin's the early bird) but I can't decide which one actually falls asleep.

I think it might depend on the night, really, and how busy their brains (and days) are. If they're over thinking, of course they can't sleep, but Armin buries himself in his commander duties and forgets to sleep and Annie's terrified she won't wake up for another 4 years if she goes to sleep.

So do they both lie awake in silence staring at the ceiling until the sky is bright (unless Armin is working)? (they probably pretend to be asleep so the other one wouldn't notice and worry even thought they both know the other is awake)

ORRRR is one asleep and the other awake and grumpy over the fact they're gonna be groggy and tired all day tomorrow?

I'm interested to see your thoughts on this

Who falls asleep huh? Okay, so we're talking about a post canon time period after some years have passed.

Armin does strike me as someone who has very unhealthy sleeping habits, often staying up late into the wee hours on work and fine print. This can get to the point where he's driving himself to near-collapse and someone has to step in and drag him to bed. In such states, I think it's reasonable to say that as soon as his head hits the pillow, he's out cold.

On the other hand, if it's one of "those" nights when Armin's feeling very bad about himself, then sleep doesn't come well. He either spends the night tossing and turning in bed, or decides to put his mind to work on some papers. But let's say he's got a season off work and is more relaxed, then he probably sleeps well.

I have this personal headcanon that in a general, overarching sense, both Armin and Annie sleep really well with each other because of the feeling of comfort and safety each other provides.

As for Annie, now. If I'm not wrong, she wasn't asleep for all of those four years in the crystal. It was more like a state of constant paralysed wakefulness. Perhaps if she fears anything, it would be being unable to move and feel her senses, imo. So good sleep is something she really hasn't had for a long time. She'd actively crave it. That said, I think it's more likely for her to be the one who's more of an insomniac in the normal sense of the word, because she's spent so long not sleeping that she finds it hard to fall asleep now. Still, as time wears on, it becomes easier, especially once adapted to the certainty of Armin's presence next to her in bed.

Then there could be situations where both of them are relaxed and calm, but they stay up all night talking (well, Armin talks, Annie listens). Then let's say they've had a fight, in which case both of them are awake and unable to sleep because The Sad™ is too much, and both are left wondering if the other doesn't like them anymore and if they'll be left alone (dramatic, but hey that's how they are).

They could also be suffering from nightmares from the past, which would give both a reason to avoid sleep.

So as you say, it depends on the time period (years post rumbling), the states of their minds, their relationship and so on xD

What do you think about aruani having pets?? What pets would they have, what would they name them, what would their dynamic as pet parents be, etc??

As a mom of dog babies and cat babies myself, I LOVE the idea of Aruani having pets! Not only is it very cute to picture, but also the impact of having pets itself cannot be ignored. If we take their canon-trauma into account, then learning to care for animals and looking after them can be a deeply healing experience. Now if also say that the animals in question are abandoned/strays, and Aruani take them in, then it's a win-win situation for both sides. Watching a traumatized voiceless creature opening up, learning to trust, and wholeheartedly falling in love with Aruani, eventually growing strong and brave and absolutely mischievous and boisterous and carefree - can you just imagine what a beautiful thing thing that will be? In this journey, Aruani can also learn a lot about themselves, and overcome their issues, slowly.

Now for the rest!

I headcanon that they have a minimum of one dog and a cat. Annie would be the cat-mom, Armin would be the dog-dad. It would mirror their personalities pretty well too, lmao xD A kitty with a resting bitch face, and a loyal puppy with a perenially-wagging tail - that pretty much sums up their whole relationship.

For what they'd name them... probably something very silly. Considering these fluffballs will basically be their first children, it would be hilarious if they named them something absolutely unserious. Annie's love for sweets and cake probably makes itself apparent when she names her chonk of a kitty something random like Big Cheese. Armin, on the other hand, draws inspiration from his enriching reading experiences, and fixes their pup with an intelligent yet stupid name like Bark Twain (Bobo for short).

As for their parent dynamics! Annie would absolutely let their fluff babies do as they please. Does their cat want to smack every guest (Reiner, really, it's just Reiner. The cat doesn't like giant, pathetic losers) in the face when they come over for dinner? Cool. Does their dog want to steal the biscuit tin from the highest shelf in the kitchen pantry by leaping up on the counter? Cool. Do your thing, kids. Commit crimes.

Armin is a bit more disciplined. He makes sure they don't poop inside the house and scratch the sofa covers. That's not to say his heart doesn't melt into oblivion whenever they stare at him with their big, bright 'I'm-about-to-get-naughty' eyes. He loves to roll around on the floor with them, and lets them sleep underneath the sheets on the bed between himself and Annie.

He does get a bit lonely tho, when Annie tends to ignore him and hug them more in her sleep *sigh*

I haven't seen her on here and her twitter is deactivated. She hasn't updated her fic since September. I wasn't really in the twitter/Tumblr side of the fandom while she was still here but I love her fics sm and hardly see anyone talk about her anymore.
