From large-scale art installations to sustainability workshops; the events at Art With Me celebrate immersion over escapism.

Tulum, the coastal town on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, has been a magnet for young tastemakers from all over, whose hotels, restaurants, and shops have come to define a new aesthetic. Those who have visited know that this creative energy is palpable — and now, there’s a way to be part of it.

Kicking off its inaugural iteration Thursday, May 10, a four-day arts and culture festival, called “Art With Me,” will bring together local businesses to showcase the town’s talent.

There's a packed itinerary — including music, art, food, and wellness — that seeks to educate visitors and residents on the environmental issues concerning the area.

We kicked off @artwithmetulum activities with an Environmental Consensus meeting this morning to present steps and solutions for a solid waste management plan in Tulum. Speakers included David Graziano, @eddiecastillo, and environmental experts like Olmo Talamante of Razonatura, Ma. Eugenia Arreola of @healthyreefs, Alejandro López Tamayo of @centinelasdelagua, Vicente Ferreyra of @sustentur and Ben Pundole of @stayplasticfree. “This is a learning process for all involved,” said founder David Graziano, who has opened boutique hotels Ahau, Alaya, and Villa Pescadores since moving to Tulum in 2013. “But what better way to learn how to protect something than by celebrating it?”

Some of the eclectic events include a late night set by electronic music duo Thievery Corporation at Papaya Playa Project, a fully robotic orchestra using traditional percussive instruments from Indonesia by artist Aaron Taylor Kuffner at Ahau hotel, an art installation called IK LAB by Santiago Rumney Guggenheim (the great grandson to Peggy) at Azulik hotel, and dinners from Nu Tulum, Habitas, and Wild.

What’s your dream ? Last night the stars were out again in Tulum. A few days of strong winds and clouds were now followed by a night of relatively low humidity in the air. The stars were out quite bright and the Milky Way When rose into the sky at 11:36 pm crossing the sky until 5:14 am. I have been spending quarantine time down here in tulum and took this photo last night. Stars have a special emotion they provoke inside of you as you gaze to the heavens.
