5/21/17 Palani Pozzani "Little Library w/Flair" The Artstop Garden at East 32nd St. & Chicago Avenue across the street from Modern Times Cafe features a couple of little libraries, benches, and a totem pole like structure, among other things, all decorated and/or containing one form or art or another.

From artsonchicago.org: "The Artstop Garden was created by the Parkside West Block Club in 1991 after local artist Florence Hill purchased the abandoned lot from the city. In 2008 the Artstop Garden became the winner of the Police Building Blocks Award. The goal was to create a feeling of serenity through the interactions of sculptures, flowers and trees. And that they did. By taking this lot under their wing, the neighborhood has created a green space that creates pride in the neighborhood, which, in turn, prevents crime."

“The Voidviewer” animation

Artist’s comments about the piece are below the cut!

Artist’s Comments: So, I’ve never made a 2D animation in my life, but I had drawn out a storyboard in my sketchbook just for that final frame in the animation, so I just made it real. It’s not the best, but considering it’s my first time working with Clip Studio’s animation part of the program, it’s acceptable.

The whole premise of this animation comes from the idea in the AoA-verse, dimensional gates can open anywhere, and anyone can enter them, but to navigate, enter other gates inside the void, and even see properly, they must be a gatekeeper. These risks are why the general public leave “gates” to the Beryl family, a known line of gatekeepers. Gatekeepers can be born from a lineage of gatekeeper(s), or be accepted by one of the bloodline of gatekeepers. Gatekeepers also have the added ability of sensing when a gate is open, though they do not get anything but a general sense of the nearby location of them when opened, so a network is made for gatekeepers by the public to alert active gatekeepers to recently appearing gates.
