Tundric Talisman event

Story time!

Reykur tightened his grip on Mucor's thick fur as the wind howled across the Kaltheim Tundra, each gust threatening to tear him from Mucor’s back. Reykur squints against the blinding snow.

Mucor moved with steady determination, his paws digging deep into the snow and ice to find purchase on the treacherous terrain. His thick coat shimmered faintly, as if imbued with some inner warmth that kept them both alive. “We’re close,” Mucor growled, his deep voice rumbling like distant thunder.

Ahead, the cliff loomed, a jagged wall of ice and rock. At its summit, faintly visible through the storm, was the shamanic shrine, glowing like a beacon of hope. The Tundric Talisman they sought was within reach—but the journey was far from over.

The ascent was brutal. Mucor had to leap from one icy ledge to another, his claws scraping against the slick surfaces. Reykur leaned forward, his body flattened against Mucor's broad back, shielding himself from the wind. “Don’t slip!” Reykur muttered, as much to himself as to his companion. Mucor let out a soft huff, his breath forming clouds in the freezing air.

Halfway up, the winds grew more violent, and the cliff seemed to stretch endlessly. Ice shards whipped through the air like daggers, forcing Reykur to curl into Mucor’s fur for protection. “We can’t stop here…”

We're still putting the info together and the discord/website look like a tornado ran through them, but here is a break down of what Hetherev (2) is. This group is 21+ only. So is the discord. Hetherev was an ArtRPG on Deviantart that I created some years ago, with the help of a small group whose names I don't quite remember. I kept the name for sentimental reasons, but this group is new and uses Discord as its base. It is not a reset of or continuance of the former. It is its own thing, with new sets of challenges and a slightly different spin on the interdimensional trope Heth was originally based on.

From the website: Hetherev is a fantasy world that exists between other worlds. Anyone from anywhere can just happen into it! Getting there is easy. Getting out? ... Not so much. Drop an OC in our sandbox and progress its story by drawing challenges and exploring zones, and meet some other OCs along the way! Work at your own pace. There are no deadlines! Do I have to Rp? Nope. Roleplay is available if you want it, but this is an art challenge group that encourages its members to do more art and learn from the art that they do, while having fun progressing their character's story. It's an artist's playground and an excuse to draw your OC meeting the OCs of others. There are no deadlines and no pressure to return art if someone happens to draw your OC in their challenge. This group is 21+ and up only. I wish we could include all ages, but this is non-negotiable. We look forward to seeing you all when you turn 21- and of course ArtRPGs are not unique to us. Anyone can make one. Do I have to be an artist? An understanding of the basics and a willingness to draw characters in interactive scenes is required to do art challenges- so on some level yes. We accept a broad range of skill levels. However if you're not an artist and want to lurk, you're welcome to come do so. Can I lurk? Yup. At the moment I'm running it mostly by myself- and might decide to keep doing it solo. I also have old lady wrists. Please be patient with the approval process, lack of info, conflicting info, etc. The discord is already populated with people who were in the original group and know how this works, if you're confused just ask.

Hey Smi, as an artist who has their fingers in a few pies, what’s your biggest piece of advice for baby artists?

I’d like to draw more and try to build up a community of support around me, but I draw slow and the numbers game is disheartening for someone with starter pack skills.

What do you think I should do?

HMMM This one is genuinely very difficult to answer especially with there being little to no sustainable platform for artists to get out there. I find myself struggling to figure out how to handle the current changes and how that effects my livelihood without burning out my creativity as well as my social battery. Read More Below the Cut

The best thing I can recommend is really trying to get out there and make artist friends. Whether that means joining discords, an ArtRPG, or engaging with artists who's content you really like and have similar interests to you. This helps you keep motivation to draw, keep inspiration. It helps you make friends which speaks for itself the benefits Learning from each other. A good support network. Trying new things. Et cetera et cetera. You can also start a community of your own where people can engage with you directly, such as a discord or starting drawpiles, streaming on picarto/twitch where you talk to people Having a good foundation means a lot imo! But this is just my experience and its not a one size fits all
