Have I ever told you why I admire minimalist artists so much? Because they have the ability to say so much with so little. Minimal artists can convey mood or feeling without over elaborating. It’s a gift. I truly believe that. It only takes one look at my body of work to see that I am not a minimal artist. I do employ some traits of minimalism, however. Areas with no detail, a lone shape in the middle of a color field, etc. I’ve tried my hand at true minimalism as well. Like this painting here, “Windows Overnight” from 2019. I have to say, it was a challenge! I went back and forth with myself as to whether I should add more. Even after I posted it the first time, I still wanted to continue on it. In the end, I’m glad I didn’t. I look at it now and very much enjoy it.
