Francisco de Pájaron - Art is Trash

I am currently exploring the idea of people making temporary changes to themselves and keep feeling the need to add more and more, until they decide they preferred how they looked originally and want to reverse the changes, why did they make these changes in the first place?

A piece of artwork which is similar to this concept of adding and taking away is by a spanish street artist Francisco de Pájaro

He takes trash that he finds and turns it into temporary artwork, he is constantly adding new trash to the piece while taking away other pieces of trash he doesn’t want anymore, reorganising it, the cycle repeats. His work isn’t made to last but people document it so that they can remember the way it was before and post it online under the hashtag #artistrash.

This work spreads a message about consumerism, how quickly rubbish is getting thrown out and how it can be turned around and made into art. I have touched on consumerism in my own project and it was interesting to look at how this artist portrays it.

project ideation

My ideas for this project come from an inspiring artist who has bean labeled Art is trash, and a quick google search will show a lot of his art installations. Above i have pictured one of my favorites. I wish to create a similar installation with a twist of my own, by installing pictures i paint, that i think are uplifting and give the viewer a happy feeling or make them smile.
