paintings* round 1 poll 87
My wife Dana by Marek Grechuta, 1970s:
propaganda: I know it's not the best artwork of his, amongst paintings or otherwise, but I just thought that his dedication and adoration for his wife is so adorable:) Dana is such a treasure honestly, she took care of her husband while he was suffering from bipolar disorder and side effects from medication, and even though Marek died many years ago, she still keeps memory of him and shares it with the world to this day. Ah, and how many truly amazing songs were written by Grechuta which were dedicated to his wife to whom he remained faithful 'til the end of his life<3
about the artist: IMPORTANT ARE THE DAYS WHICH WE DON'T KNOW YET but seriously, who DOESN'T know who Marek Grechuta is :D He's one of the coolest Polish musicians and songwriters of the PRL era, but, as this painting shows, a man of many talents, too He actually was heavily influenced by Witkacy and Wyspiański when it comes to visual art, which is not surprising giving the fact he dedicated two songs to the art of the latter and the whole album, Szalona lokomotywa, to the poetry of the former. Either way, I'll be glad to reopen Marek to some people by submitting this piece (and some others hehe)
Self-portrait by Rahel Szalit-Marcus, 1926:
[no propaganda has been submitted]

I noticed people creating such descriptions on Tumblr, I assumed that I could do the same so that the people who visit my blog would be less confused about what they're seeing here. After all, I'm really open to communication, but it's probably better if you know what to expect from me:)
So, who the h am I?
> Obviously, Ohiko Amok is not my real name. I don't want to go by my real name on the internet unless it comes up in conversation with my mutuals.
> I'm a person of many professions: (1) personal tutor teaching adults with dyslexia, adhd, Asperger's etc.; to speak English (2) Marketing professional; (3) Graphic designer;
> I have lots of hobbies; I like cooking (I'll gladly exchange recipes with anyone interested in mine), I like painting and drawing (both digitally and traditionally), I do yoga, I like reading (and sometimes even writing) and I like learning about skin issues (lol, I even have a certificate that I finished a course teaching about acne and how to properly deal with it xd). I also play a number of very simple computer games and enjoy board games, but I wouldn't call myself an enthusiast of neither. What I do adore is music - I'm the only person in my family who haven't had any musical trainings in the past, but I do have a strong appreciation for music.
My taste in music is very vast and it'll be difficult to limit it to one genre or a group of artists, but I can easily name some of the most influential performers for me: Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, Dusty Springfield, Judy Garland, Fleetwood Mac, Czesław Niemen, Marek Grechuta, Magda Umer, Tori Amos, Volodymyr Ivasyuk, Okean Elzy, Skryabin, Shocking Blue..
I would love to bond over music with anyone with similar tastes <3
> I do not identify myself through pronouns, sexuality, belonging to a certain movement. I think all of those labels are secondary and often limit person to a certain degree. Biologically, I'm a woman. I'm bisexual, but I do not consider myself to be a part of LGBTQ community. I'm not religious. I'm not a feminist of any kind. I have my own strong ideas developed through the years living in a certain context, my own preferences and worldview, but I don't want to label them in any way, as it seems redundant.
> I come from Poland<3 Currently, I live in the Eastern Part of the country.
If at some point you might get confused by my posts' being inspired by both Polish and Ukrainian popular culture and historical background, it's because I was born in Ukraine (albeit in a Polish family) and feel a strong connection and love to both countries.
> Since I've started to post on Tumblr regularly, I very often get some horny messages (i'm talking about real people, not porn bots), so here's one bit of information which I feel obliged to add to my account description: I'm currently engaged and I'm not looking for any relationships aside from friendly ones!
> I don't reply to messages in russian
> I've recently created another blog called @retrowaving-vents to just write random stuff and repost meme I find funny. Welcome, if you are interested in some random stream of consciousness.
Cheers, if you've managed to read this whole post, I hope you'll enjoy the content I post on this account<3 Feel free to ask any questions that might come to your mind, I really like talking xd

Hiii, yay, you're in!
3 & 28 from me then 🎶
Thank you do much @troubled-mind! I rarely get those to do them.
3:A song that reminds you of summertime
I have several but this is the first one that comes to mind. Everytime I hear it I think about sun, vacation and a time when I was a kid.
youtube
28:A song by an artist with a voice that you love
That's a tough one because I don't think that I distinct voice from the song if I like one. But based on comfort I would go with Marek Grechuta.

Hello!!! Can I get 12, 30, 34, 47, 55, and 63 for the music asks please? c: (feel free to skip any if that's too many lol) <2
hello!!!! C: thank you for the ask!!!! 12. Who’s the most obscure artist you listen to?
hmm this one's tough cause i have a lot of random artists on my playlists, but i found this artist with only 168 monthly listeners on Spotify, but the song i have on this playlist is so nice???? you gotta give it a listen asap!!!!! it's Another Place by KUYASHII !
30. Songs you love to sing along to:
tbh i sing along to almost every song i listen to LMAOO but the latest songs in my repertoire are Explode! by Mother Mother, Strażnik Raju by Piotr Rubik, Grzegorz Wilk, Love Is Fire by GRLwood, Sexy Drug by Falling in Reverse(this one makes me giggle so much LMAOO), From the Flame by Leprous, Slow Down by Chase Atlantic!
34. Your favorite song in your native language (if it isn’t English) OR in your second language (if English is your first):
THIS IS SO TOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't listen to Polish music as much as i should (something i NEED to fix fr) and there's so much to choose from!!!!! AAAAA!!!!! fuck it!!!!! i'll give you two classics and my favorite modern banger!!!!!
in the aforementioned order here they are: Dni, których nie znamy by Marek Grechuta, Dziwny jest ten świat by Niemen and Kosmiczne energie by Ralph Kaminski!!
47. Is there an artist you used to dislike but learned to like because of a friend’s influence?
hmmm not really? at least nothing i can think of, sorry!
55. An album you learned to love after listening to it again and again:
ironically, i learned to love both Moral Panic and Dead Club City by Nothing But Thieves! each time my first impression was "oh no, did they fall off?" but then i give em another go and i have them on repeat for the next month LMAOOOO
63. Do you prefer live recordings or studio recordings?
i like studio recordings better cause it gives the artists more opportunities to play with sound in various programmes and etc!! like in I duckinf hatw you by Ghostemane & Parv0 the last verses always hit so hard in the best possible way, cause the voice is so distorted!!!!!!!
#ask game#snowychicken#thanks again for the ask C: it's was tones of fun!!!!!!#i also recommend Nie dokazuj by Marek Grechuta and Anawa!!!! it's pretty fun!!!!#fun fact: it took me so long to finish this ask cause i fell into polish music rabbit hole while trying to think of a good rec LMAOOO

13. artist that doesn't fit your typical style/genre but you like anyway
it's just once in a while, but some grechuta songs need to be played

From the spinning wheel, stretches the painted sky From there, the sun, covered in wooden spears
I had a sudden urge to draw my oldest OCs I created when I was a child listening to my mom’s favorite album by a Polish singer Marek Grechuta, written by Tadeusz Nowak. For me, the songs were all connected and told the story of a little girl and her caretaker, traveling through the wondrous and mysterious countryside towards their lost homeland. I could feel so much love for the open sky and golden fields in every line I heard, and my OCs loved them, too.

Tango Anawa
(music: Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz, lyrics: Marek Grechuta, Marek Czuryło, translation: pickyperkypenguin)
A theatre strange, one of a kind
Where sense and substance
Deuce only knows
There are pianos and mandolins
In frenetic tango Anawa
You, ma’am, are saying – it’s impossible!
You, ma’am, are saying I am guessing
You, ma’am, are saying – unbelievable!
You, ma’am, are saying it’s a jest
But what is possible – is possible
What I am guessing – I am guessing
And you don’t know, my lady, what I’m feeling
When I am singing tango Anawa
A theatre strange, one of a kind
In which the show eternally goes
Animal tamers and arlequinos
And frenzy of illusion Anawa
You, ma’am, are saying – it’s impossible! (…)
Theatre strange, one of a kind
One other like this – I don’t think there is
Here come to us prepossessing girls
And they are laughing and having fun
You, ma’am, are saying – it’s impossible
That you know all these sort of japes
That is naïve and frankly phony
This so called tango Anawa
But what is phony, that is phony
What I am guessing – I am guessing
And you won’t ever understand
What is a tango Anawa

1. Are you named after anyone? I guess my old/dead name's related to the church my parents organised their wedding and my baptism in, same patron : o hard to say when it comes to my current one, it's also been choosed by my parents but idk really why did they call me like this. I like to think it's after Kazik Staszewski and Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer bdfbbfdb (which is not true)
2. When was the last time you cried? Two days ago, in rather nasty circumstances, but tbh I really, really missed crying, I couldn't do it for 8-9 months in 2018, and that really sucked. So tbh I'm happy to be able to cry from time to time
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I stream a lot, which makes me tired.... Yeah. I do
5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Will it sound odd if I say their political viewsss... Also I tend to be curious about what someone's eating when I meet them for the first time : o outfit's also important, i guess, and hairstyle, as I tend to confuse faces.
6. What’s your eye color?Weird kinda grayish-mix, sometimes it's more blue, other times more greenish
7. Scary movie or happy ending? deppressive ending after a deppressive movie, but if I've got no other choice I'll pick happy ending.
8. Any special talents? Drawing nothing but old men
