Music Shuffle Tag Game!
Tagged by @mynonsenseistingling. Thank you!
My "on reapeat" list is a kind of borked because I listen to a lot of lofi and synthwave, and while there are a couple of artists that stand out for me, most of that type of music is just background noise. (I also had the Arcane soundtrack on repeat for a while...)
Ma Meilleure Enemie - Stormae, Pomme
Dynasties and Dystopias - Denzel Curry, Gizzle, Bren Joy
Water of Love - Dire Straits
Stick Up - Heart Attack Man
Renegade (We Never Run) - Stefflon Don, Raja Kumari feat. Jarina de Marco
Classique - Adieu Aru
nice to know you - lovelytheband
Hooked - Franz Ferdinand
Hellfire - Fever 333
Cool 2 Me - Heart Attack Man
Tagging: @corpocyborg @seeker-of-truth @shimmer-like-agirl

Weekly update
mentally and physically exhausting but also very rewarding week, first time in a lecture hall, informing myself about Aalto University, christmas cookies (first time Lebkuchen after 2 years...)

18.11.-24.11.2024
Studying
studied a lot for my hygiene passport test until thursday (passed the test with 36/40! )
my final finnish exam is coming up in 3 weeks and I am already a bit panicking (where did the time go???)
I informed myself about Aalto University in Helsinki because I got Youtube ads for it all the time and this university is actually so cool, it may be an option for me in the future
in the book I am currently reading was a passage about a research paper two characters will need to do and it actually sounds like so much fun (pic)
Languages
It is actually crazy how many different languages I hear and use every week because of my Finnish course. Obviously Finnish and sometimes English if my teacher needs to translate a word for us. I use English and German for my translations and notes. I also hear a lot of Russian on a daily basis because a lot of people in my course are from Russia/ Ukraine and our teacher is explaining it to them in Russian too. And that was not even all. One of the students speaks Spanish and I can actually still understand her a bit when she talks to herself in Spanish. Plus our teacher is learning Swedish and sometimes says a phrase in Swedish.
It is honestly a lot of fun to hear so many different languages and also try to understand things in Russian. (Although sometimes it can also be very exhausting.)
And then there are even more languages when I watch videos or listen to music.
I love languages so much.
Health
worst week with anxiety in a while: almost had a panic attack at the beginning of the week and decided to take some medicine to make it until I completed my hygiene passport test (the main reason for the anxiety)
although the medicine helped my mind and body to be calmer and actually function, my body was still very affected with digestion problems and all the fun more subtle body affects
but after I did this test my mind and body quickly felt better and now I am okay again
for a not so negative experience: I did an Afrotrendy Dance Workout for the first time and it was so much fun ! (even though I didn't manage the whole 35 minutes as it is exhausting)
For myself
after I did my hygiene passport test and I didn't have to study for that anymore I just spent the whole evening watching stuff in bed
cut my hair, it was long overdue
rewatched the first season of Arcane and am now almost finished with the second in 3 days (this series is such an artistic masterpiece on all levels, I am just speechless and want to talk about it so much at the same time)
this week's
reading / watching / listening
A Lesson in Vengeance - Victoria Lee
Arcane S1 & S2
Renegade (We never run) - Raja Kumari & Stefflon Don
likewise - ericdoa

Since June of 2024, I've made it a habit to make a playlist of what my favorite songs have been every month, and then crown a song "top favorite" of each month. It's a tradition that means a lot to me because it's had effects I hadn't expected—my memory is very poor, once something happened 3 or more days ago I forget about it, but I now remember what was happening and what I was going through, solely from the music I liked at the time. I highly recommend others to do record-keeping in the same way!
Anyway, with 2024 behind us, that means it's now time for me to decide what my "song of the year" was! (Though, technically, song of 6 months. 2025 will be my first time actually documenting a full year.)
What my favorites were:
June 2024: Dear Arkansas Daughter by Lady Lamb
July 2024: Fellow in the North by Cold Weather Company
August 2024: Gnaw by Alex G
September 2024: W.I.F.I. (Upper) by Wildermiss
October 2024: Autoluminescent by Midwife
November 2024: Renegade by Raja Kumari
December 2024: Song for an Unborn Sun by Midwife
Some songs that were close to being favorite of the month:
Ma Meilleure Ennemie by Stromae
Harpy Hare by Yaelokre
Spiracle by Flower Face
Killdozer by Midwife
Anhedonia by Chelsea Wolfe
Early by Run The Jewels
Venus & Mars by We Don't Ride Llamas
Some songs that made repeat appearances in my playlists:
Anhedonia by Chelsea Wolfe (3 times)
Why So Serious by Krizz Kaliko (3 times)
i have no sense of what home is by ativansocial (2 times)
Autoluminescent by Midwife (2 times)
Mercury by Sleeping at Last (2 times)
Venus & Mars by We Don't Ride Llamas (2 times)
Trash by Alex G (2 times)
But finally, the title of "Song of 2024" goes to Gnaw by Alex G!
Even if it only made a visible appearance once, it was a song I had on my mind constantly throughout the latter half of the year. I'd play it on my ukulele constantly, it reminded me of my favorite piece of media, it reminded me of myself to the point that...I felt like it was worthless documenting every single time I thought about it. Every month playlist would just have Gnaw in it. I realize in retrospect that's a stupid reason to not be honest; I should've added it in anyway but you get the deal. It's also reminded me of the kind of summer I had in 2024—I hadn't had such an amazing summer like that since I was twelve years old, and I look back very fondly on it :)
I'm not sure how interested I am in doing an "artist of 2024", since my favorite artists tend to stay pretty stagnant. This year was different, though, so it's worth mentioning that, unsurprisingly by everything I listed above, that title would go to Midwife, too. I need to make a post about her sometime; her music is so great and has had such a personal effect on me.
Already curious what my 2025 wrap up is going to look like!
#doing the math yourself is 10000 times more fun accurate and rewarding than spotify wrapped#maybe i should create a tag for these recaps?#hartlow speaks#hartlow's music recap

The Rising Stars of India’s Music Scene
India’s music industry is a melting pot of tradition and innovation, producing some of the world’s most talented artists. In recent years, the rise of digital platforms has given emerging musicians an unparalleled opportunity to showcase their talent. From soulful classical renditions to contemporary indie beats, these music artists in India are breaking boundaries and gaining global recognition. This article delves into the rising stars of India’s music scene and explores how they are reshaping the industry.
The Evolution of Indian Music
Indian music has a rich history, deeply rooted in its diverse culture. Over the decades, Bollywood has been the epicenter of India’s music industry, producing iconic songs and playback singers. However, a new wave of independent musicians is challenging the status quo, blending traditional influences with modern genres like EDM, pop, and hip-hop.
The accessibility of platforms like Spotify and YouTube has allowed these artists to reach audiences far beyond India, creating a thriving independent music scene that rivals mainstream Bollywood.
Spotlight on Rising Indian Artists
Prateek Kuhad Known for his soothing voice and heartfelt lyrics, Prateek Kuhad gained global recognition when his song was featured on Barack Obama’s year-end playlist. He exemplifies the rise of independent music in India.
DIVINE One of the pioneers of India’s hip-hop scene, DIVINE’s raw and relatable lyrics have resonated with fans across the country. His journey from Mumbai’s streets to global stages is an inspiration.
Armaan Malik A versatile singer with a knack for both Bollywood hits and independent tracks, Armaan Malik is one of the most prominent music artists in India today. His foray into international music has expanded his reach even further.
Jonita Gandhi With her unique ability to switch between Western and Indian styles, Jonita Gandhi is a powerhouse of talent. Her collaborations with leading composers have made her a favorite among fans.
Ritviz A rising star in the indie-electronic scene, Ritviz has captivated listeners with his experimental sounds and innovative music videos. His songs often blend traditional Indian melodies with contemporary beats.
The Role of Digital Platforms
The success of these artists can largely be attributed to the digital revolution. Platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube have democratized access to music, allowing independent artists to bypass traditional gatekeepers. Questions like can I download songs from Spotify highlight the platform's growing importance in India’s music ecosystem.
Social media also plays a crucial role in amplifying these artists' reach. Viral trends, Instagram reels, and TikTok challenges have brought songs like Ritviz's "Udd Gaye" and DIVINE's "Mere Gully Mein" into the mainstream.
Collaborations that Break Boundaries
Collaboration has been a defining trend in India’s music scene. Artists like Raja Kumari, who seamlessly blends Indian classical music with hip-hop, exemplify the possibilities of cross-genre experimentation. Similarly, Bollywood tracks featuring independent artists have gained immense popularity, offering fresh perspectives to listeners.
International collaborations have also become more common, as seen with Armaan Malik’s English-language singles that cater to global audiences. These partnerships highlight the versatility of India’s artists and their ability to adapt to different musical styles.
Staying Updated with Indian Music Trends
For music enthusiasts, staying informed about the latest trends and artists is essential. Keeping an eye on music news in India offers insights into album releases, concerts, and artist interviews. With India’s music industry growing at an unprecedented pace, there’s always something new to discover.
Why Independent Artists Matter
Independent artists represent the voice of a generation, tackling themes like mental health, social issues, and personal growth. Their unfiltered and authentic approach resonates with younger audiences, making their music both relatable and impactful.
Unlike mainstream artists, who often work within the constraints of commercial expectations, independent musicians have the freedom to experiment. This creative liberty has resulted in groundbreaking tracks that redefine the boundaries of Indian music.
Conclusion
The rise of independent music artists in India marks a new chapter in the country’s rich musical legacy. With the help of digital platforms and global collaborations, these artists are taking Indian music to new heights. Whether you’re a fan of soulful ballads, electrifying beats, or experimental sounds, India’s music scene offers something for everyone.

Raja Kumari Celebrates Women In New Sexy Anthem “Juice” With Bollywood Inspired Music Video Out Now

Following the worldwide drop of the viral title-track “Jawan Prevue”, which has garnered over 100 million views on YouTube and 4.8million streams on Spotify, Grammy-nominated songwriter and award-winning artist Raja Kumari, is unveiling her latest single and music video for her rap/pop track “Juice”. Written by Kumari, Nacho Larraza, Harm Franklin and Humberto Delosrios, the song is an unapologetic sexy anthem about knowing your worth and flaunting it. To accompany the song, the Los Angeles native dropped a Bollywood inspired music video that premiered on PerezHilton earlier today. Directed by Keerthi Vijaya Raju that she shot in Mumbai, India was entirely female lead on and off screen. Visually, Kumari embraces Bollywood culture with dancing choreographed by Piyush Bhagat & Shazia Samji and Indian garments designed by Shrishti Chetani. When speaking about the video, Kumari says, “Growing up, watching Bollywood films I always felt empowered by watching these beautiful women dance, but it was always in the context of the male gaze. I wanted to change this narrative, so I've created something that represents a shift to a woman's point of view – a celebration of self-love. It's all about embracing who I am and my body without any reservations. I've merged the essence of Indian Cinema with my East West fusion sound to create something unique. The concept has captivated me for quite some time, and finally I've brought it to life. Read the full article

Finding calm in chaos with Raja Kumari
Finding calm in chaos with Raja Kumari
[ad_1]
“I feel like my songwriting is prophetic,” says Raja Kumari, about her latest single ‘Peace’, that was released last week. A laid back R&B number, it is a departure from the rapper-singer-songwriter’s usual hip-hop style. Recalling that she had co-written the song (with friend and collaborator Elvis Brown) in early January, she says, “I’d been going through a lot, missed my family as I’d…
