hi! I was wondering if maybe you might have any mandarin song recs? I know I found a song by mayday from your blog, and unfortunately I don’t know anyone else who might have recs in chinese... sorry if that’s totally not even anything you listen to

the first mandarin singer you need to know is 邓丽君 Teresa Teng. shes so so so so good and also one off the most famous mandarin singers. ever. theres a saying in chinese that is basically: there is no place that chinese have gathered and teresa teng’s songs arent playing. she is also super famous in japan, and thats why I listened to her songs growing up. a lot of chinese who go to Korea to promote and stuff are often asked to sing her songs too so dont be surprised if some of these are really familiar

her most famous songs (that I listen to religiously) are:

A sweet, cute song from Shiny, a Taiwanese singer.

MoonMoon(문문) _ Eden(에덴) 

MoonMoon is a Korean indie artist to keep on your radar … he has a great voice and interesting releases.  Eden is a lovely release that tells an actual story and the lyrics make me emotional.

I don’t understand what it is but this song is on repeat in my head. JJ Lin is a fantastic vocalist and this song is more upbeat from the usual ballads that I listen to by him.

It was just a pity that he could not get on the stage for prize and say thank you to his team that night.

The 29th Golden Melody Awards - Little Big Us by JJ Lin

What a perfect stage! 

It was not easy but he completed it perfectly with his amazing voice and sincerity as always. This performance showed the reasons of his popularity.

JJ Lin included the overture of his own concert which is composed by Hans Zimmer to this performance. Peiju Chien was so beautiful. When the whole orchestra showed up on the stage, it was just so breathtaking.

JJ used 6 songs to tell you his 15-year psychological journey. The most touching parts were ‘Westside’ (西界) and ‘Hundred Days’ (第幾個100天). These two songs mean two important periods. People who have been following him in these 15 years should understand and feel it.
