I do have thoughts on Dear Wormwood obviously!! How can I not? It was the first thing I read on Arthur and Larson that didn't come from my friend, or, well, myself lol. It kinda set the picture for them in my head? It's so, so jawdroppingly well-written, and I mean both the writing and the characters. I feel like my brain accepted Wormwood Larson as an expansion of canon Larson. I think much of my characterization of him takes its roots in Dear Wormwood, and I'm not even fully aware of it.

The author nailed every single perspective and every single line of dialog. Never once have I doubted that if it were to happen in canon, that's exactly how it would go.

And you know what I appreciate in Dear Wormwood the most? It's not torture porn. It goes into the despair and defeat and hopelessness in a way that leaves you genuinely disturbed. It explores Arthur's feelings in such an honest and painfully realistic manner. It goes into John's perspective, and despite it not matching Arthur's in many aspects, the reader gets to understand and sympathize with both in such a dire situation.

I love the characterization of Yellow. I love how he interacts with Larson and vice versa. I love the way Larson's affiliation with the occult and the ancient gods is given more attention. That's definitely something I missed in his canon depiction.

I think I could say more if I reread it prior to answering ("learned by heart" might have been somewhat of a hyperbole), but uh. Yeah. I really enjoyed Dear Wormwood.

I don't actually have any sort of "oh it would be cool if...", "i headcanon that..." thoughts for Dear Wormwood because it feels perfectly whole and complete and there's nothing to add to it.

Regarding Malevolent fics overall by the way, I just realized I've only ever read 1. Everything in the Larson/Arthut tag; 2. One or two fics about Arthur being strangled and getting off to it and 3. One Arthur x Noel x John fic for a very specific tag. I've barely interacted with Malevolent fanfiction outside of that. Huh.
