Sequel to "I Have A Secret"
When the magical creature finally dropped, everything paused for the tiniest of moments.
Well, paused for Merlin who had a small moment to breath in relief that he stopped the creature right before it was about to swipe Arthur with a fatal blow.
Sir Kay, on the other hand, who saw the incriminating golden eyes like everyone else in the small group, didn't pause at all, turned his body towards Merlin already preparing to swipe his sword.
"No!" Gwaine yells from too far away.
Ducking quickly, barely missing the sharp edge, Merlin doesn't even stutter before running to Arthur and then hiding behind him while breathing heavily as he stands back to back with the prince while curling his hands into the cloth of the blonde's breeches.
Arthur finally blinks and seems to unfreeze from where he'd stood since he'd almost been killed by the beast and then saved by his apparently magical manservant.
"Huh."
He surveys the situation.
Merlin has magic and is currently hiding behind him. Sir Leon is looking at them unsure, Sir Gwaine looks like he's ready to kill Sir Kay and also maybe him or Merlin by the way he keeps looking at them.
Feeling the trembling warmth pressed against his back, he very calmly lifts his sword.
"Gentleman. What seems to be the problem?"
He pointedly keeps his sword up in a way that can be used in any direction, but Sir Kay gives him an appalled look anyways, but Leon stares at him for a moment before nodding to himself and putting his sword down.
Sir Gwaine on the other hand, looks at Merlin in frantic worry, looking like he wants to start inching forward.
Arthur feels like Gwaine is probably safe but he doesn't know for sure, so he gives Gwaine a Look anyway which... obviously gives him a scathing glare back.
"Your Highness," Sir Kay looks at him with worry and Merlin (still behind him) with anger, "He's a sorcerer."
Everyone seems to hold their breath in front of him, but Arthur just looks at them for a few more seconds in blankness.
Did they think he just... didn't notice? He squints his eyes.
Looking side to side, Arthur just deadpans, "I mean... yeah. I thought that was pretty obvious with the golden eyes and yelling a spell two seconds ago."
Merlin snorts behind him. The hands still entwined with his breeches seem to loosen as Arthur feels the back against his own start breathing easier.
Arthur's lips try to trick upward, but he tries to keep them down.
Gwaine, still quite clearly running on adrenaline, looks back and forth between them before landing on Merlin, "Merls, are you sure you want to be standing there, right now?"
They both look at him with tilted heads.
Merlin hesitantly replies, "Um... yes?"
His hands squeeze for just a moment, making Arthur frown at Gwaine.
Gwaine, just squints his eyes, before pressing forward, "And you're not scared? You're okay?"
Blinking owlishly, "Uh. I mean. I was scared that Arthur was going to die? And I guess I was scared of Sir Kay for a second. But... I'm doing pretty good..." There's a small pause, "...How are you?"
Sir Leon lets out an uncharacteristic snort before covering his mouth as he tries to hold back a laugh to himself.
Gwaine sputters, "I meant scared of the Princess!"
They, again, both look at him in confusion, "Arthur? Why would I be scared of Arthur?"
Sir Kay and Gwaine both seem to bluster in the same way (for opposite reasons?)
"Cause he's the prince!"
"He's just Arthur."
Arthur makes an offended face, "I'm not JUST anything, Merlin!"
Merlin finally lets go so he can watch him as he smirks, "Oh yeah? What do you want to be instead of Arthur then? I guess if we count a few minutes ago, you can be a damsel in distress instead~"
Arthur looks back at him with a sputter, "You can't talk to me like that! I'll put you in the stocks!"
Merlin just smiles at him mischievously, "Oh of course, Sire. My apologies, Sire. Just maybe you should double check your next stew for vermin instead of bird."
"If you put rats in my stew one more time, I'll make you eat it."
"-oh, going on a diet, Sire? I've been telling you you need it..."
Arthur huffs to himself, putting one hand on his hip while pointing his sword to Merlin with his other, dramatically.
The others skip a breath.
Merlin just rolls his eyes with a bored look like it's happened a million times. (It has)
"I'm going to have the kitchens poison your next meal!"
"Not if I do yours first!"
"At least then I'll have a break from all your prattling!"
Merlin gasps in mock offense as he takes a staggering step back, "How dare you! What about the children?"
Arthur snorts so loud, he drops his sword as he covers his mouth wheezing as Merlin raises his arm in victory and grins like he won something.
"Who are the children?"
Sir Kay interrupts with a disbelieving huff, "Sire. Sorcerer. Against the law."
Arthur looks at him like he's stupid, even though he's the one who looks a little stupid still bent over trying to catch his breath, "It's just Merlin."
Gwaine and Leon share a laugh between themselves, now completely calm, used to the bickering.
"And besides, it's really on me. I didn't ask," Arthur shrugs like this makes complete sense to everyone. He goes to pick his sword back up, as Merlin nods and steps behind him to look over his shoulder with his hands entwined behind him.
Arthur pretends he doesn't miss the warmth, but the breath on his neck is a close second.
"Didn't ask what, Sire?" Leon asks curiously, as he and Gwaine seem to lean forward, even as Sir Kay stays stock still like he's rebooting.
Arthur looked up at him a little startled, "Oh. Merlin told me he had a secret ages ago. I just didn't ask, cause he didn't want me to."
"Wait wait wait- he told you he had a secret?" Gwaine guffaws.
Merlin steps forward to lean his chin on Arthur's shoulder as he wraps his arms around Arthur's waist, "Of course! I try to tell Arthur everything. He's my best friend!"
Arthur pretends he isn't blushing, as he hums noncommittally.
The other three trade glances.
Arthur just nods to himself, even as his free hand absentmindedly holds onto one of Merlin's wrists around his wait.
The other three raise their eyebrows.
"Anyways. Obviously, there will be no speaking of this to my Father." He looks up stern and serious for the first time in this entire conversation.
Leon and Gwaine nod happily, while Sir Kay takes a moment, before nodding reluctantly and murmuring to himself, "I'm repressing this as we speak."
Leon looks at Kay with interest, while Gwaine just watches in amusement as Arthur's blush comes crashing back when he visibly realizes he's been gently caressing Merlin's wrist unconsciously.
Merlin just looks at Gwaine's smirk over Arthur's shoulder, before squeezing Arthur's waist once and letting go to start walking beside him, vehemently trying to hide his own blush now, too.
Both of them start continuing their walk back to the citadel, looking away from each other, even as their arms brush against each other with how close they walk.
The other three follows them casually.
Sir Kay blinks, before turning to Leon with a whisper, "Did I miss something? What happened with the beast?"
Leon just looks at him unable to hide how impressed he is with the skill of Repression, making Sir Kay even more confused, belatedly answering the question, "...Prince Arthur killed the beast, of course."
Sir Kay just blinks, "Of course."

|| @avaloniamagus from here
"Just a minute more!"
Wart frowned, looking over the work he'd done with a critical eye. It was easier in spring and summer, even early autumn, when there were more colorful flowers to choose from. But what he'd managed to find looked good with his teacher's snowy hair. The gorse especially stood out nicely with Merlin's outfit.
In the most professional opinion only a young child could have, of course.
So, with a proud smile, he tucked one last flower behind the man's ear and stepped back.
"Alright, now you can look, Merlin!"
Hands tucked behind his back, the boy rocked back on his heels in anticipation. Was it silly to be so nervous? Wart wasn't sure of the answer. All he knew was when Kay had learned just why he'd been gathering all the flowers he could the older boy had laughed. Loudly enough that, were it not for his handfuls of carefully scavenged for treasures, Wart would have started yet another fight.
As it was he swallowed, pinching at the hem of his tunic nervously.
"Do you...like it? It's not as nice as when I did it back in summer but I did my best!"

Arthur “Wart” Pendragon ▪ 22 ▪ Cis Male ▪ He/Him/His ▪ Choi Soobin ▪ Unaffiliated ▪ Open
→ Past
Arthur was not supposed to be important. Adopted by a man that barely liked him, outshone by his older brother, and called Wart far more often than his real name, he never expected to do more than become a squire. And, really, that dream was already a bit too lofty. Merlin was the first person to ever expect anything from Wart. Though he was only twelve at the time, Merlin knew Wart was meant for great things. The day Wart stumbled through his roof, everything changed for the young boy. Merlin saw him as worthy and took on the task of educating him beyond normal squire duties, teaching him to be more than a brute. Wart had never been near any magical beings, but he was more amazed than afraid of the wizard. He soaked up all the knowledge he had to offer, until the day he chose a tourney over him. Merlin wanted him to be more than a squire and did not understand why he would throw it all away just to look after his brother’s equipment for the rest of his life. The two had a minor argument and Wart went off to the tourney with his family. Everything went smoothly, until he realized he had forgotten his brother’s sword at the inn. He did not have time to rush back, but, thankfully, he found a sword buried in a stone. Wart pulled it out and brought it back to his brother, only for his family to realize it was the legendary sword in the stone, marking him as the rightful king of Britain. Unfortunately for Wart, there was already a current ruler: King Richard. The kingdom was quickly divided between those that believed Wart should rule and those that believed King Richard should remain in power. Fearing the worst, Merlin came back for Wart and took him on a tour across the kingdoms. He promised one day they would return to England, after he was ready.
→ Present
For a decade, Arthur avoided Frontierland. He continued his education underneath Merlin and Archimedes, but also began to train in the ways of a knight. Arthur joined quests across Disney, some with better results than others. He went under many aliases, but his sword was a constant reminder of what had transpired, of the life he had to leave behind so King Richard would not behead him. Though he had no aspirations to be king, he heard whispers during his travel of Prince John’s tyranny and King Richard’s abandonment. Everything was in shambles. They needed a savior. Arthur did not want to be that man; he was not a king. Underneath it all, he was still that awkward twelve-year-old, carrying helmets for his big brother. Merlin, however, convinced him he needed to come back and fulfill his destiny. So, he returned. Arthur has caused quite a stir in Frontierland. Many have not forgotten him and are seeking him to take the crown, tired of the current regime. However, he has not shown any ill will towards the current king, instead opting to do noble deeds, acting as a free knight. Unfortunately, the peace is on borrowed time. Though Richard has not made a move on him yet, Arthur knows he will eventually. Every moment he is breathing, he is a threat.

Hello! Just dropping by because I just binge read "so young I almost drowned" and I wanted to let you know I'm in your walls.
I'm obsessed. It's incredible and intriguing and the dry humour of both the prose and the characters is freaking hilarious. 12 yo Merlin being a cryptic almost cryptid and 13 yo Arthur being a soft terror is not a dynamic I ever envisioned by now I'm overwhelmed. My deepest sorrows for Detective Gwaine Morgan who has to deal with them, on top of a string of murders. Also, it is really not nice of Kay to sit on Arthur, but I understand the impulse. Also also, thank you for giving us Hunith and Balinor; every scene of them with Merlin is especially precious to me.
Hello!!!
I am so pleased that you are enjoying it. It has been nothing short of a GREAT fuckin time to write.
Tbh it's been years since I set foot in the Merlin Fandom and I went through 61 pages of fics before I realized I was sort of grasping for something that I couldn't find which was:
1) Balinor and Merlin content not centered on grief
2) Arthur trembling like a chihuahua in a purse.
I joke. Sort of.
I'm super intrigued by Arthur Pendragon as a person with a lot of confidence and a lot of anxiety at the same time. I am also really intrigued by how BBC Merlin portrayed him versus Wart in The Sword In The Stone.
They're not entirely different people, but Wart is so curious and so eager to please that I couldn't help but insert some of his more honest emotions into a young Arthur.
I want to think of him as someone who Uther despaired of in the 500s. Like he was totally convinced that if he didn't force Arthur into social conditions that would "harden" him then he would be consumed by nerves and melancholy.
I can absolutely see him consulting with Gaius constantly about ways to balance Arthur's humors to make him vigorous, excitable, and masculine and I imagine that, through that no doubt traumatic process, Arthur sort of made himself fit the masculine ideal his father and other knights around him worshipped.
As for Merlin, I think i just wanted to write him being this wild child with very little regard for social convention.
Once you get to chapter six, you will sort of see why he is so dismissive of the people around him and so eye-rolly at everyone telling him what to do :)
Together they are like a sticky wet dough on a counter that you cannot touch without consequences.

tell me about Artie and Morgie's relationship ?
Tulip is optional for this!
Morgie meets Artie when the younger boy is fourteen years old and he, himself, is around fifty (though he, like Hades, Uliana, and Maleficent, looks good for his age due to his fae genes and he doesn't feel it either) after the barrier is brought down.
This is to say that Morgie is somewhat more mature that he was in Rise of Red, and, is smarter (though I doubt he was ever truly dumb given he may have ADHD and modern English, as pointed out by @leftbehindtorot and @isleofdarkness , probably isn't his first language).
Which means that Artie's reckless little ass stresses him out to the point that he wishes he was thirty-six years younger so that he could smack some sense into the idiot (though, as his friends like to point out, if he was thirty-six years younger, he would actually join in on the shenanigans).
Morgie has somehow become the go-to babysitter of Artie and his friends because for some reason he's the only one the kids even remotely listen to and he can heal or outright prevent any injuries the kids would otherwise get due to their recklessness (something Merlin is absolutely not even the slightest bit salty about).
His friends all find this funny—even lizard Maleficent laughs at him when she eventually makes her way to him during one of her escapes.
Artie was not pleased when he realized that Exacilabar was in Merlin's office even when Morgie was in school and threw the fit of a life time (something he hadn't done since he was a little kid).
Artie's friend and Merlin's son, Dragonet, was somehow even less pleased than Artie was to find that out.
Of course, once those two found out, all of their friends found out—and since all of Artie's friends like Morgie...well, it wasn't a fun day for Merlin. Or the Merlin Academy staff, for that matter (luckily for the Auradon Prep staff, Sir Kay's daughter, Kelemon, had graduated by that point).
Merlin looked to Arthur and the round table for help but found enough.
Artie loves Morgie's snake tattoo and his magical tattoo, and even wants one of his own when he's older (much to Arthur/Wart's horror).
Morgie gets along well enough with Arthur/Wart and Hazel/Guinevere.
Merlin walks in on Morgie trying to teach Dragonet, Artie, and the rest of the kids magic and has a heart attack. An actual heart attack. He lives (Morgie privately thinks he's dramatic and his friends all agree, even lizard Maleficent).
Morgie's full name is actually Morgar Yvain le Fay and Artie's full name is actually Artorius Gaius Pendragon. Both of them find their nicknames, Morgie and Artie, more appealing coincidentally (Merlin is sweating about their similarities).
Artie looks up to Morgie a lot.
Morgie is actually older than Arthur thanks to the great big magical mishap that was the timeline mashup that led to Auradon's existence (yes, it gives them a headache too).
Also, because of the various myths that exist in modern name, neither Morgie or Arthur are actually sure who they're related/not related to, other than themselves and Artie. Something everyone likes to joke about.
Morgie jokingly calls Artie a copycat because the blonde copies little behaviors of his.
Merlin and Morgie have been caught glaring at one another when Artie wasn't looking several times.
Merlin is extremely suspicious of Morgie and is convinced him spending time with Artie and the others is some kind of evil ploy (and, if you count Morgie being amused by the stress it causes Merlin, it kind of it. But not at the same time).
Artie steals Morgie's scarves when he's bored because he thinks it's funny.
Artie and his girlfriend, Tulip, and their friend, Dragonet, taught Morgie how to make a Jack O'Lantern.
Artie has picked up bits of Ancient Greek, Atlantean, French, Fey Speak, hiss speak, and Scottish Gaelic from Morgie.
Morgie once told Artie of the time he and his friends set fire to their school and got away with it (and immediately regretted it because Artie then tried it. Which no one knows about because Tulip and Dragonet snitched to Morgie before it spread). His friends all thought it was very funny. Morgie did not.
Both Artie and Morgie, if presented with an intergalactic portal, would enter it without question.
Artie stole a lollipop at a fair when he was five and still feels guilty about it, which Morgie finds hilarious.
Morgie regularly uses his magic to pick Artie up by the scruff of his shirt to stop him from doing reckless things.
One time when Morgie was teaching the kids magic, they accidentally turned him into a snake and he was like that for a week before they figured out how to turn him back (which they had to track down Uliana to do).
Morgie is very clumsy yet still does parkour: he's even taught Artie some moves.

Book Reviews #15 - The Sword in the Stone by T. H. White
I started the collection of The Once and The Future King by recommendation of a friend. This is the first book of the whole collection. Now, this a chosen one narrative. I often find chosen one narratives rather uninspiring. Fate, blood lines, all that, none of those things mean anything to me at all, but how does the story perform overall?
There will be spoilers, so beware.
This is a nice story, although it is not much of a story, but a short of fables with Wart's childhood as a wrap. This is my first true contact with any fiction about King Arthur, but naturally I have heard since my childhood the legend of the sword in the stone and the challenge of pulling it out, so I was in a way still familiar with the concept.
White paints Wart as a bit of an awkward, nerdy boy. Merlyn, his mentor, transforms him into several animals as part of his "education" and in there he sees all the kinds of societies that nature is part of. Societies that mirror human ones, the belligerent ants, the wise badgers, the owls, the fishes, and my favorite of them all, the wild geese. There is an abundance of humor and child like wonder in the story, nothing gets ever so serious, and Wart is depicted as mostly an spectator to all these kinds of worlds that the writer uses to show different sides of the human being.
The wild geese transformations were my favorite chapters. If I couldn't choose to be human, I think I’d love to be a goose. That feeling of freedom, of flying over the sea—I’m going to miss it dearly. I’ll miss Lyok and the 'cockneyfied' birds. To live in a world stretched horizontally, shaped only by relentless wind and endless waves beneath me—that’s a sensation you can’t replicate. The acrobatics, the silly birds on the islands, the freedom to fly farther than any human ever could… I think someday I’d like to read a whole book about what it feels like to be a bird, soaring away.
Merlyn is also an interesting character because (pardon me for viewing old stories through a modern lens) I feel he is an autistic person. The living backwards in time, knowing things that will happen but not things that happened as if in being in he's own wavelength. To me, it feels like a "medieval fantasy" take on autism. Of course, he isn't really coded to be that, so he not just knows things we don't know, but he also seems to grow younger, and even have been in centuries way past his life time, as he by accident gets a hat he worn in 1890 in one occasion. He is not a character that is supposed to make sense, but give occasional comedic relief and add world building. His motto about "learning" being the only thing that can cheer you up no matter anything is also fantastic.
About the chosen one thing, yes, it is still a chosen one narrative. Merlyn can only transform Wart into animals, not even Kay, and my friend said that "he was chosen because he would work" but this is not true, because in the very last chapter Merlyn reveals he is in fact the son of the previous King Pendragon. Now now, that doesn't mean the story is bad, because I think the writer is doing something interesting here. The scene where Arthur pulls out the sword is rather comedic and very anticlimactic, with Wart being the only one who is around to pull it out the first time. The narration skips most of the events after this with a quick narration to his coronation and leaves Wart intact at his core. I feel that the writer, while he did not reject the chosen one narrative, he made the protagonist indifferent to it, subverting any sort of fulfillment we could gain from it and in that way erasing my biggest complains in a story of this kind. Wart is never depicted as someone hungry for power, but someone who wants to fight evil. In this iteration of the story, Wart is a spectator in a world filled with silly rules and conventions designed to make us think about the own reality we live in, all this done in a heartfelt and whimsical manner.
How would I do it? I was thinking about the scene a lot. I thought, if I ever came into a situation that was as blatant as picking up a sword of a stone, I would be able to pick out my sword not because I was chosen, but because I choose to pick up the sword, because everything I did in my existence was to pick up the sword, so in reality, I would not be the person who would pick up the sword, but it would be sword that fits the most for my own purposes and goals the one I decide to take out. The moment that Sir Ector and Kay realize that Arthur in fact will be a king they kneel down and treat him like royalty is quite an ecstatic moment to me [THEY WEREN'T MEAN AT ALL LIKE IN THE MOVIE THEY WERE NICE WITH HIM ALWAYS IF YOU SAW THE ANIMATED MOVIE JUST SO YOU KNOW THAT MOVIE IS A LIE A LIE A LIE A LIE], in that moment the story turns into a secret identity story and the big reveal and change in reaction always brings me butterflies, you know, its like when people treat you as a girl the first time and call you by your new name and are a bit more delicate with you, it is such a wonderful feeling to experience that moment when you start being treated like your true self.
There are some colorful characters I really like, like King Pelinoire (who is only King on name, and who inspires me to be a Queen as well), Archimedes, who is a shy but also wise owl (when I looked clips of the animated movie to see his expressions, they completely ruined him making him in someone as irascible as Rabbit of Winnie the Pooh but less anxious), as well as Lyok and the charming hedgehog who would not uncurl.
As it stands, I would have rated it a 6/10, a solid tale with funny fables carrying a naive but also affectionate view of the world and that add a lot o color to an already old established tale, but those Geese chapters elevate the whole thing to me to greater heights.
7/10

Merithur is a crossover ship I might have mentioned under my collage of MeriArthur (Merida x Prince Arthur of Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs) and Merilocks (Merida x Goldilocks of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish). With how rare the ship between Merida x Arthur "Artie" Pendragon is, I thought that I would remind people of it through one of my collages. Like I have done for a few other rarepairs that people might have forgotten or never knew about. Even though Once Upon a Time Merida meets its version of Arthur Pendragon, him killing her father and being a villain doesn't have that many people shipping those version of them together. I think that's why they paired her with Shrek's version of King Arthur, and young Arthur from BBC Merlin does look a bit like a live-action version of Artie; just as Disney's classic take on Arthur "Wart" Pendragon could pass for his animated counterpart. That's why I added BBC Arthur to the collage beside OUAT Merida, so people can remember that Artie isn't the only Arthur that Merida could be placed beside.

Top 10 Characters I want to see come to Disney Mirrorverse
I am a fan of Disney Mirrorverse. What impresses me the most about it is the story and most of all the character designs. However, there are a lot of other characters who I think have a lot of potential to come to Mirrorverse, and I'm gonna give you my top 10 characters that deserve to come to Mirrorverse. For each pick, I'll be going over what type of character they would be (Melee, Tank, Ranged, or Support), what they're playstyle could be, and maybe how some could be incorporated in the game. Now, this is my picks and not yours, and your picks can be completely different. Now, let's dive right in.
10. Goliath (Gargoyles)[Tank]
Starting off with the protagonist of a 90s Disney tv show that helped define a lot of childhoods (along Ducktales and Talespin). Goliath is a warrior that has a lot of abilities, from gliding, super strength, his basic claw strikes to even a bit of magic, a healing factor, and a rage mode. I see him as a Tank character, given he also has super durability, given he's a stone statue by day and defender by night.
9. Namaari (Raya and the Last Dragon)[Melee]
I had to add a villain to this, simply because we have a small number of villains than heroes in Mirrorverse, and I chose Namaari because not only would she be awesome in Mirrorverse, but it should make sense that she come to Mirrorverse since Raya is in the game. I see her Namaari as a Melee character having a playstyle and appearance of an Assassin, given her skills in martial arts and the use of two blades, but she could have an ability where she uses her crossbow for a ranged attack, and an ability where she calls on her big cat to attack enemies, or she can ride on it for some mounted attacks.
8. Robin Hood (Robin Hood)[Ranged]
Even though we have an archer in Merida in Mirrorverse, I think the OG archer of the Mouse House should come into the game, heck, Merida and Robin Hood could have a friendly rivalry to see who the better archer is (old school archer vs new school archer). But seriously, he would obviously be a Ranged character were he could have the standard abilities of an archer character in any MOBA/RPG game, from volley shots, charged shots, shooting arrows in a cone, etc., but I can also see Robin have an ability where he tosses out three bags of money and if his allies collect one, the will be healed (think Cupid from SMITE and his ability Share the Love); also he could have an ability where when he attacks an enemy, he has a chance to steal health, items, and of course, currency.
7. Merlin (The Sword in the Stone)[Ranged]
We all know that Merlin is one of the most amazing mentors not just in Disney history, but in all pop culture history. Being such an amazing and powerful sorcerer, he would be a Ranged character, easily harnessing Stellar Magic to give him access to many different spells, like taking inspiration from his counterpart in SMITE. I could even see him being a chief advisor of the Guardians, aiding some of them in training to giving them some helpful advice.
6. Wart aka Arthur Pendragon (The Sword in the Stone)[Melee]
When Merlin comes to Mirrorverse, Arthur should definitely join him. Arthur does have Excalibur, and thanks to user s10127470, Arthur's Mirrorverse design could have him wear a magical suit of armor created by Merlin to enhance his physical abilities. Arthur's playstyle could possibly be similar to his SMITE counterpart, but given that Merlin is teaching him, Arthur could also be like a Spellblade or an Eldritch Knight, using a bit of magic to empower his sword fighting. While Arthur is still in training (you know, to be a warrior and a freaking king), he's got a lot of allies who have a lot of experience to help him.
5. Kidagakash "Kida" Nedakh (Atlantis: The Lost Empire)[Melee]
Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a very underrated movie, and it shouldn't be, so having someone from the movie come to Mirrorverse would give it some representation, and while Milo Thatch would also be a good candidate, I had to go with Kida. Much like Merida, Raya, and Mulan, Kida is a warrior princess (in Kida's case, a warrior princess turned queen) with a lot of abilities, from using an Atlantean spear, martial arts, throwing knives, and using Atlantean magic, so her playstyle could go from her warrior side or her mystic side, but thinking about Freya, Maman Bridgitte, and Ao Kuang (SMITE), I think that Kida could be like how they play: having physical basic attacks, and having magic abilities. So, a Melee attacks like using Atlantean magic to power up basic attacks, shooting magical shots, place a shield around an ally, or heal them.
4. Tarzan (Tarzan)[Melee]
Another warrior from Disney that needs to make it into Mirrorverse. He would clearly be a Melee character where he would use his spear for basic attacks, and even an ability were he throws it like a javelin toss, and taking some inspration from Nidalee (League of Legends) and drawing inspiration from a Totem Warrior from DnD, where he could summon a gorilla spirit to attack enemies, and he can also use his signature cry to raise the attack and critical hit stats of his allies. So yeah, this jungle daddy definitely deserves to make his mark in Mirrorverse.
3. Li Shang (Mulan)[Melee]
I believe Shang could play similarly to Mulan, but with some creative differences. He would be a Melee character where he uses a sword, like Mulan, but he would also use a bo staff and bow and arrow, and his passive could reflect his lack of sense of pain where attacks from enemies that hit him take half the damage they would normally do. He could also use buffs to raise his allies stats like critical hit chance, focus, etc. He could be incorporated in an event where he oversee's the Guardian's training session and personally training certain Guardians.
2. Prince Naveen (The Princess and the Frog)[Support]
Since Tiana is an alchemist in Mirrorverse, it only makes sense that Naveen to come to the game as a bard, given his love for music and his main instrument being a small guitar. Naveen would obviously be a Support character where his playstyle can take inspiration from characters like Apollo (SMITE) and Sona (League of Legends), using his music to heal, protect, and buff up his allies, while damaging and debuffing enemies.
Honorable Mentions
Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest)[Melee]
Shan Yu (Mulan)[Tank]
Captain Phoebus (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)[Melee]
Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)[Support]
Pocahontas (Pocahontas)[Support or Ranged]
Darkwing Duck (Darkwing Duck)(Ranged)
The Headless Horseman (The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad)[Melee]
Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid)[Melee]
Prince Phillip (Sleeping Beauty)[Melee]
I had to put Prince Phillip on the top spot because he should've already been in the game when it first came out. I mean, the guy is one of the most proactive characters in the Mouse House and he clearly knows his way around a fight. He would be a Melee character utilizing his classic arsenal: the Sword of Truth and the Shield of Virtue, and possibly taking some inspiration from Lancelot (SMITE) and even Leona (League of Legends). Also, since Princess Aurora is coming to Mirrorverse, Prince Phillip needs to join her.
That's it, everyone, feel free to comment, but keep any and all shady comments to yourself, or be blocked. Thank you and God bless.

Name: Arthur Pendragon
Age: Thirty-six
Occupation: President of The Order
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Pronouns: He/Him
Currently Playing: Yesterday by The Beatles
Big Three: Sagittarius sun, Leo moon, Virgo rising
Headcanons:
Arthur grew up without his own parents, but was adopted by his uncle, a man named Ector, and his cousin, Kay. Back then, he was no better than a nobody, and even his nickname, Wart, further proved his anonymity. Arthur was perfectly content with helping Ector and Kay, until one day, he was hunting in the forest with his older cousin and stumbled upon a cottage where an old wizard lived. Though Arthur didn’t really believe in magic when he was a child like many others did, it was Merlin who taught him everything he needed to know about magic and life itself. It seemed that the old man could see the future, even, and it was when these confusing thoughts of the future came that Arthur deferred to his shapeshifting sidekick, Archimedes, to teach Arthur the basics of schooling while he didn’t receive any at home.
Being the adopted one, Arthur didn’t receive much attention from his uncle or his cousin, but instead was expected to help them run their farm and keep to himself. It was their ignorance for his whereabouts that led to Arthur being able to sneak away with Merlin so often, especially after Echo Isle had announced that they were going to hold a duel for the new head of The Order, a society that protected the magic of the island. The Isle had been left without leadership in The Order for some time, and with no one being able to pull a sword out of a stone to take the rightful place as its President, this seemed to be the next best idea. Ector put all of his time and attention toward preparing Kay to battle for the position.
One of the most valuable lessons that Merlin taught him was knowledge over power. They once encountered his arch nemesis, a woman named Madam Mim, who attempted to defeat Merlin using dark magic and shapeshifting. It was Merlin who came out on top, though, using his powers to infect her and defeat her from the inside. It was one of the most pivotal moments in Arthur’s life, and he still attributes his leadership style to that day.
On Christmas Eve thirteen years ago, Arthur went to Kay’s knighting ceremony the night before the duel. He was supposed to be his stand-in for his cousin’s second in command, as the first choice had gotten sick. In celebration, he went home with a woman (a witch, unbeknownst to him) and overslept the next morning. As he was in such a rush, Arthur left Kay’s sword in the woman’s home, and, desperate to not show up empty handed, he found one lying in a stone in the middle of Main Street. Without so much as a second thought, Arthur pulled the sword out of the stone and brought it to the duel, only discovering once he’d arrived that it had been the Sword in the Stone, the one that proclaimed that the next President of The Order was the one who pulled it out.
Arthur’s life pretty much changed overnight once he pulled the sword. Before he knew it, he was being pulled into a new life and a new profession. It was overwhelming, and still is, to be leading magical beings when he had not a magical bone in his body. He relied on the help of the older families of The Order, and he still does, but over time, Arthur has formed a vision of what he wants Echo Isle to look like. That vision has been strained since Merlin died just a year into his rule, which wrecked him. Arthur took his death hard, feeling unbelievably lost once his greatest teacher was out of his life. His first few years in The Order were rough ones as he tried to find his own voice and leadership style without Merlin’s guidance.
When he was a child, Merlin taught him about Camelot: a utopia where everyone lived in harmony, the weather was always perfect, and it was nestled on its own, free from outside influence. Of course, no world was perfect, and, until the borders closed, Echo would always be influenced by people coming to visit. He knew it was wrong, to take such control into his own hands, but Arthur genuinely believes he did the right thing by closing them. He gave everyone enough notice to get back home if they so chose, and kept lines of trading open, but said it was to protect the magic, and it was. It is. There’s enough dark magic on the Isle that needs to be contained, and there was no other way he could see to handle it than to keep it within the island. Only the members of The Order know what he did, and he says it’s temporary, and he genuinely hopes it is.
Though he exudes valuing order, peace, nobility, and legality over everything, internally, Arthur is a wreck. He has no idea what he’s doing and hopes that some part of it is right. At times, he can be a bit forgetful and impulsive, but he’s truly trying his best. Thankfully, he has the adults of The Order to guide him, but even with them, he still feels as though they see him like a child, despite being a decade into his position.
Arthur knows about the child that came with the one night stand before the duel. He sends the mother and his child money, but he wants to stay as far away from them as he possibly can. Merlin once said that he would be challenged by a child, and Arthur simply is too afraid to face that.

Added three more poems (Pygmy & Nawfal, Myth & Memory, Legacy of the Ancients) as well as another flash fiction (Another Side of the Story) to the lineup so I figured now would be as good a time as any to discuss what the heck all these pieces are about.
To start, there are no less than three different versions of King Arthur. The first I'm co-writing with @cynicalclassicist and is set in the same timeline as Scotland's Heir from Volume I (The Two Heirs, Pendragon's Crucible, The Huntsman & The Maid). The second is a modern AU set in the equivalent of the first half of the 20th century (Jenny's Tale, Wart's Tale, Headlines from The Daily Dragon). The third is told entirely through poetry (Legacy of the Ancients, Myth & Memory, Have You Met the Saracen?, Elden War, A Knight's Reflection).
Then, there's the new Mistland material, which includes a follow-up to the flash fictions Rumination and The World Changed While You Slept from Volume I (Tension), two flash fictions introducing brand-new characters (64432B, The Things We Do For Love) and a fourth flash retelling a scene from Anathema (Part I) but from another character's POV (Another Side of the Story).
Beyond that there's some poetry that ties into a couple of the standalone pieces from Volume I. Namely, Pygmy & Nawfal (which ties into Girl in Blue), I Am Titan (which ties into Promontory), and A Tribute to the Dragonslayer (which naturally ties into The Dragonslayer, which seems to be most people's favorite but not mine). To be clear, you don't need to read these poems to understand the original short stories but hopefully they will retroactively enhance your reading (or rereading if you are so inclined).
The Twelfth Traitor and The Eleventh Traitor are set in an original fantasy setting of my own invention.
Nobody is Worthy is self-contained and standalone, as is the stuff written by Brian (Helical, The Beehive has No Emergency Exits, Youaltetsauitl-tleamanalli, Seaside Ska, Chairs).
The Barren Crease Before Us is an introductory piece to Dwight's post-apocalyptic sci-fi setting.
As I have with Volume I, I will be posting art (and hopefully music) for B-Sides & Rarities once the book is finished and closer to release. In fact, I already have over 50 pieces by more than a dozen artists from ten-plus countries!
I hope this information excites y'all and I really, really do apologize if the book will take some time to finish due to my personal circumstances. That said, please feel free to reach out with any thoughts, questions, or concerns you might have regarding B-Sides & Rarities (or Volume I for that matter!)!
:)
Sincerely, Beyondmistland
Turned 30 earlier this month so figured now would be a good time to formally announce my next book.
Tentative release date: Winter 2025
More details coming soon!

[ SEE ] / Young Arthur!
|| Tall and Small prompts ; accepting! [ SEE ] for shorter muse to insist on getting to ride on the taller one’s shoulders.
"Please, Merlin!"
Wart knew he was whining, as embarrassingly shameful as it was to admit it even to himself. But it was a special occasion where all the knight and youths in training to be knights in Ector's lands were competing together. A miniature tournament, of sorts. Nothing as amazing as a real tournament, Kay had sulked the day before, but it was still something special.
Especially for a young boy who couldn't even imagine a larger tournament.
There was, however, one issue. Now when it was about to be time for the group Bedivere and Kay were a part of it was an issue Wart was all too aware of.
He was simply too short to see past the rest of the crowd, and even the wall around the field was too tall for him. Wart felt his cheeks burn even as he puffed them up, trying to fight off a sulk. Any other time he would have searched for a tree to climb but Ector had forbidden any tree climbing until his arm had fully recovered from his last attempt. His teacher was truly his only hope now.
"Please please! It's just for a short time! Just enough to see how they do with their bows please!" Wart stared up at the mage, feeling, much to the horror of all six year old boys, his eyes beginning to sting from embarrassment and frustration. It really wasn't fair. Why did he have to be so much shorter than everyone, even Lucan who was also six was taller! "I-I'll give you my desserts for a week, Merlin, so please?"
