ranking all the atp players' chinese characters/kanji tattoos
rankings will be based on the meaning of the word they chose, placement and font. in other words its just me judging people based on my bias
(might not be a complete list if you know anyone else with chinese characters/ kanji tattoos please tell me in the comments!)
matteo berrettini
Tumblr media Tumblr media
愛(traditional chinese character/ japanese kanji) - Love
tbh that is a bit of a cliche word but the font has a nice traditional calligraphy done (correctly!) with a brush vibe, and the placement is a bit weird for me but hot (imean its on matteo berrettini) so id say its a good tattoo
2. flavio cobolli
Tumblr media
勇氣(traditional chinese) - courage
i actually quite like this choice of word, but the font is like the chinese equivalent font of calibri. or impact at max. imagine tattooing something in those font on yourself 😭 but because this word gives a bit of a ACGN+ vibe and the font also gives some manga text vibes (although! it is not japanese kanji, japanese kanji of this word would be 勇気) so it actually kind of worked for me, and id say its still a nice tattoo. but i dont think he thought this much he probably just chose the first available font lol
3. arthur cazux
Tumblr media
战士 (simplified Chinese) - warrior
cool choice of word, but (1) it is quite obvious that this is done by someone who is trying to 'draw' a traditional calligraphy style chinese characters and (2) i think that is a samurai knife behind the characters so it would probably go better with the japanese kanji version 戦士. and also why simplified chinese that is literally the most swagless form of chinese characters????
but still i am very impressed they managed to cover all forms of chinese characters with just 3 of them 😭😭😭 very inclusive
???. Marat Safin (i have so many things to say about this one)
Tumblr media
猴 (same character used in all three forms) - monkey
yea his tattoo means monkey. which is supposedly because he was born in 1980, and 1980 is the year of the monkey in the chinese zodiac calendar. at this point you might think oh okay thats cool, but no, because for calculating zodiacs we use the lunar calendar which is typically 1.5 months later than the solar calendar we are all using now and he was bon on the 27th of January of 1980, so his zodiac animal was actually a goat instead of a monkey. big missed opportunity for him, he could have tattooed 'goat' on himself, that would be incredibly narcissist but at least cool

for your rodents playing tennis agenda may I propose arthur cazaux? he has squirrel vibes to me that I simply cannot explain
okay so i kept meaning to make a post about him yesterday bc i don't know anything about him other than he was on like one media video ages ago dressed exactly like an eboy and for some reason that endeared me. perhaps then i was seeing the rodent potential.. the rodential...
I like squirrel as an option.. I said before that I think all french people r a little rat-like and that definitely stands for cazaux. I will have to ponder this....

Rolex Paris Masters' prediction for Arthur Cazaux VS Ben Shelton | Tarot Reading
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: Everything in here is done for entertainment purposes, so be entertained! Enjoy.
[Prediction for October 30, 2024's match]
[UPDATE: I couldn't watch the match, but I saw the final score. Once again, Ben acting more careless than his opponents. He did shock us today, huh? By losing! Damn it I saw Arthur putting a little more work - 6 of pentacles - and the cards were right, he won.]
Ben Shelton's energy for today's match: 2 of swords + the tower + page of swords
Ben's feeling like surprising everybody today. He's so excited to... Wash away his last match? Yes, that's what I just heard right now. He's up to the task. He's willing to shock people today.
Arthur Cazaux's energy for today's match: 7 of wands reversed + 6 of pentacles + knight of cups reversed
I feel a certain uncertainty from his side for today's match. I also see Arthur matching Ben's scores right after him a lot today? Like: Ben scores first, then Arthur scores after him, then Ben scored again, then Arthur right after him again... (or vice-versa)
Who's the one most likely to win today:
Ben: judgement reversed
Cazaux: ace of pentacles reversed
Oh my goodness! The cards only show me both of them probably making some mistakes, missing some good opportunities to score during the match...
Overall, Ben's the one feeling better between the two of them, but also saw Arthur trying to fight for his life.
Or... This match could end much earlier than people expect.
We'll see how it goes.

So, watching Arthur’s Tokyo matches, and the comms keep talking about his athletics results in the next gen tournament last year, and I’m reminded of how funny it was that in late November everyone in France was like Arthur Fils had the best results in the athletics rankings. So impressive. Truly destined to great things. And then in late January, barely two months later, Arthur Cazaux had his great run at the AO and everyone went you know those athletics tests they did at the next gen thing? Well actually Arthur Cazaux won them all. We just didn’t say because he was participating as an alternate in case any of the qualified players withdrew. So, anyways, he was the best. So impressive. Truly destined to great things.

📸 ATP official website
After an overnight and day rain delay upon the conclusion of the first set...
The most anticipated second-round action on what was supposed to be the Quarterfinal Friday continued between wild card Matteo Berrettini and Arthur Cazaux, where they were due to start the second set. While A. Cazaux took control of the first set thanks to his deep returns, where M. Berrettini's third-shot unforced errors resulted into the sole break of serve in the set, its consistency was tested as soon as the Italian found his range back.
M. Berrettini might have a slightly nervy start to the reset, double-faulting in the first point while erring his backhand afterward. However, he started to get his groove going and held his serves to 1-0, which became a significant hold as he started to go after A. Cazaux's groundstrokes, where a key slice placement equalized the point in the fourth point before foiling the latter's game point. It then was converted (2-0) due to A. Cazaux's rare backhand slice approach where he failed to follow up to as soon as M. Berrettini volleyed the way before his error. Despite conceding one point in the next game, M. Berrettini held his serves to 3-0.
Subsequently, it took a while for A. Cazaux to gain some rhythm as he also was 0-30 down while trying to get things going, held his service game to 3-1 at the end. Slightly after M. Berrettini strengthening the lead with a hold to 4-1, a question of his redirection ability started arising as A. Cazaux's forehand error to M. Berrettini's preceding pass resulted in the deuce. Eventually, another slice paved the way for the 2021 Wimbledon Men's Singles runner-up to his post-smash final volley, which doubled him the break to 5-1. He then earned an opportunity to serve for the first set, where one his set points was saved through a successful backhand pass from A. Cazaux to the open court right before another rain delay struck. An hour later, M. Berrettini eventually served it out, baking the second set breadstick (6-1) with an unreturned second serve, bringing the match to the deciding set 24 hours since it began.
