Funny stories from set

Here are some funny stories from the making of red dead that I have heard in interviews, with links to the videos if I have been able to find them again, just click the text with the line under.

(25.40) Between the takes of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rob (John) worked construction and one day they were using a Skidloader and he got driven over. He had to reach up and bang on the side of the thing to alert the driver. He ended up with a broken foot and couldn't work for eight months. One of the scenes that someone else ended up doing for him was Rip Van Winkle.

(31.22) The interaction where Charles throws Micah was orignally Charles throwing Bill and was the first thing that Noshir (Charles) filmed on set. With a mo-cap suit follows this big thing in front of the face that helps capture facial expressions (I think), and Noshir was like "I am going to wreck some shit" after being told that he wasn't allowed to turn his head to avoid his and Steve's (Bill) equipment crashing together and after being told over and over, they did it and the equipment indeed broke. So while standing in a T-pose after the set was done, he was just like "... I am so fired."

(6.45) Mick (Sean) and Roger (Arthur) actually knew one another before working on red dead together. Roger worked at a pub not far from the resturant that Mick worked at where they put plays on on the second floor and Roger would come and do readings. Roger auditioned for a part in a play around the beginning of rdr2, and he got the part however he had to cancel due to another bigger job he had gotten. And then Mick got the role of Sean and he figured it all out.

(36.40) Gabriel (Javier) started a rumor that the director was his dad, his stepdad. A lot of the new people on set would come up and be like "I feel like he doesn't like me" and Gabriel would be like "Oh don't worry that is just my dad, he likes you don't worry."

(41.30) Steve (Bill) and Ben (Dutch) would often stay in the same hotel when they were filming and they had this ritual called "Whiskey Hottop" where they would get in a hottop, pour themselves some whiskey and sit together. Sometimes Rob and Noshir would join as well.

(5.17) Rob and Ben knew one another as well from before the first red dead, as they both worked security at a bar called sky bar in Hollywood.

Whenever I do the Assassination mission in 1999 all I can think of is

1. Ben and Neil arguing irl like brothers

2. When Victor taunts Arthur with the “how does it feel like sending your friends to death?” how Arthur internally is like “dude, im sending my murder hobo wizard girlfriend. She’s gonna be fine”

Try to clarify the timeline of Ben & Arthur bromance:

- they followed each other around February 2023 and kept liking each other’s posts

- played Laver Cup in 2023, Ben defeated Arthur in 7-6 6-1

- after Ben won the semi-final in Tokyo 2023, he wrote “humble and hungry” on camera lens, then on the same day Arthur won the semi-final in Antwerp, he wrote the same words:) one day after, Ben won the title and wrote “show me something Arthur” (they both retweeted the posts on X which described their interactions, how sweet)

- they trained together in Paris-Bercy 2023

- in the year-end interview Ben picked Arthur as the NEW COMER award

- in the 2024 year-beginning prediction interview, Ben predicted Arthur would win bigger title, and Arthur teased his description of “bigger” on insta (and Arthur actually did! it! twice! :)))

- they trained together in IW

- in tennis channel interview, the interviewer asked Arthur to name top 3 swaggy players on tour and said he could put himself on the top, but Arthur said Ben firstly, and his response was “Ben…Shelton for sure” (we know you get along well with Ben you do not need to explain lol)

- Ben congratulated Arthur’s Hamburg title on insta

- they played each other in Tokyo this year, Ben really wanted to defend his title but he was physically exhausted because of Laver Cup, they both fought too hard and both got cramped during the match, played almost 3 hours of brutal tennis and Arthur won (and left this pic) (and their exchange at the net was heartwarming)

- Arthur won Tokyo title, Ben congratulated him on insta (for me Tokyo is like an unique fairytale between these two, Arthur really showed Ben something THIS YEAR IN FRONT OF HIMSELF) (and their celebration pics were very similar and adorable as well:)

- they played doubles in Shanghai together, the vibes were extraordinary but the tactics lol

- they played doubles again in Basel, and they kept interacting like two puppy dogs

- they played each other in Basel semis, Ben defended Arthur through a breathe-taking tiebreak, just full of energy and drama. But their exchange at the net was purely sweet, and Ben also encouraged fans to show respect to Arthur

- Ben tagged Arthur in the post-Basel post, and Arthur responded 🖕🏾❤️

- I believe much more will come considering of their intimacy, like Ben said they are both improving very fast and enjoying playing against each other, their meetings will be fascinating to watch in the future. Really looking forward to witnessing them sharing career journey together🥹
