Our latest visit to Shriners Children’s in Greenville, SC was last week. As I always do, I wrote my blog post covering the visit over on The Greene Affect. Firstly, Fred Trump was probably not a great dad.
He was shrewd, racially motivated not to rent his apartments to minorities. Probably a rent hiking slum lord. Etc.
Which factually is the history of their business and is legally documented. They skirted laws to help themselves while holding others back. And got away with it.
But Mocking your own father while he's losing his marbles? The guy who gave you a 'small' loan of a million dollars? The one who saw you as the favorite son?
For a guy like Trump to pretend he's a saint and thinks he's a savior, and sees himself as a living martyr.
And whatever else you think you'd like to tack onto it since being elected. The list is endless.
That's pretty disgusting.
Especially if he plays up being this family man. Being part of the Trump legacy. All that.
You could be racist, bigot, cheating other people, a fucking murderer even, but your own family, specifically your nuclear family. One's that he purports are the reason he's the best, made him who he is - All that!?
If he has a high opinion of his family, and his parents, why would you mock them in their confused and dying years?
So that means EITHER he really doesn't have these good and holy views of his father and mother OR he's a truly awful sociopath. (Or both).

I guess I have "Strong beliefs, but they're loosely held". Because I can always change my views. They're not part of my identity.
But for every instance of disproving the consensus that Trump is a madman and an incredible asshole, and stupid incompetent idiot.
I find nothing, not one shred of evidence to support that he's just a misunderstood blowhard. Or some hard businessman who's going to do the unprecedented in helping the citizens of this country live better, more prosperous lives fit the 4 to hopefully not 8 years he's in office.
This is just a defining example of how cruel and disgusting and surface charming he is. The opposite of his portrayal of himself.
Makes me pretty sick.
Trump always had the money to take care of his family or parents in their declining Alzheimer's years. They'd never have to go to a nursing home, to be neglected, he didn't have to be hands on at all with them if he chose. Just send nurses and doctors and caretakers to be with them.
So why mock his father cruelly of the involuntary loss of his mind?
Because Donald Trump thinks he's powerful, and he's mocked those he perceived as weak dozens of times from before he even ran as president.
Ugliest example is when he publicly mocked reporter Serge Kovaleski who suffers from arthrogryposis.
So just imagine what he said or did to his own father outside of the public eye in those years.
He's so religious, I'm sure he's heard of the 10 commandments, or maybe seen the movie?
"Honour thy father and thy mother"
I not nearly as "godly and religious" as Trump pretends to be, but I put a lot of what's left of my extinct faith into that commandant.

Madison Hunter, 15, suffers from scoliosis, which has significantly reduced her lung capacity.”She’s had pneumonia four times and has been hospitalized twice,” said Kelli Hunter, Madison’s mother. Madison’s parents are concerned that as the next tier of vaccinations take place, she’s not being prioritized among those with preexisting conditions. Madison is a week away from her 16th birthday. At that time, she’ll be eligible for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, which is the only one approved for individuals her age. “Madison needing that one specific brand then, that means she has to compete a lot harder to get the shot,” said Frank Hunter, Madison’s father. Getting Madison vaccinated could help end what’s been a difficult year for the whole family.”It’s been a really long year. I lost my job,” said Kelli Hunter. With the family limiting their exposure to the virus, Kelli became Madison’s full-time caregiver. Frank has been running their business as safely as he can. Madison and her younger brother, Logan, are remote learning from home. They said they can count on one hand the places they’ve gone. Madison’s parents are concerned that as the next tier of vaccinations take place, she’s not being prioritized among those with preexisting conditions. Madison is a week away from her 16th birthday. At that time, she’ll be eligible for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, which is the only one approved for individuals her age. “Madison needing that one specific brand then, that means she has to compete a lot harder to get the shot,” said Frank Hunter, Madison’s father. Getting Madison vaccinated could help end what’s been a difficult year for the whole family. “It’s been a really long year. I lost my job,” said Kelli Hunter. With the family limiting their exposure to the virus, Kelli became Madison’s full-time caregiver. Frank has been running their business as safely as he can. Madison and her younger brother, Logan, are remote learning from home. They said they can count on one hand the places they’ve gone. Melania Trump’s Presence at Invictus Games in Toronto is an Insult to Vets with Disabilities
When Donald Trump mocked a disabled reporter during the election campaign, where was Melania? BY BRAD FRASER The Invictus Games, started by Prince Harry, are a noble endeavour. Allowing thousands of soldiers with life altering disabilities to compete in adaptive sport events is a win for everyone involved. That Toronto should be hosting them next month contributes to the city’s reputation for diversity and compassion. However, it should concern everyone that current first lady of the United States, Melania Trump will lead the 90-athlete delegation from her adopted country. I’m not going to fall into the trap of gender shaming that the right-wing press indulged in with Michelle Obama, who was criticized at every turn in the most coarse and racist fashion by the same people who have now altered their standards so the current first lady is not subjected to the same vile assessments as the previous one. However, Melania, like Ivanka, Donald Jr., and the rest of the privileged and sinister clan have made it clear that they see themselves as little more than extensions of their narcissistic, wealth-inheriting, never-accomplished-anything-on-his-own husband and father, in attitude and public stance. They’ve all proven to be little more than whimpering sycophants before a patriarch who has proven to be, at best, a rather stupid, manipulative madman with no impulse control. In a relatively short time in office Trump has managed to attack, belittle, and unfairly target any number of vulnerable minorities in order to appease his fascistic followers. If Trump isn’t doing it himself, his Republican henchmen are constantly working behind the scenes to limit rights to those who do not fall into the false paradigm of “the majority.” Among his targets have been immigrants, Mexicans, women, journalists, and, perhaps most inexplicably of all, trans military staff—a group whom, under the blanket of the LGBTQ community, he had sworn to protect prior to “winning” the election. But no group has been attacked by Herr Trump as much as people with disabilities. Who can forget the repulsive spectacle of him mocking a differently-abled reporter—Serge Kovaleski, who has a condition known as arthrogryposis, which affects the joints—on national television? Who can forget the heartbreaking images of people in wheelchairs, supported by walkers, without vision, being arrested and roughly dragged away for protesting Trump’s draconian proposed changes to health care? And where was Melania through all of this? First she was suing a tabloid for interfering in her “unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to establish “multimillion dollar business relationships for a multi-year term during which Plaintiff is one of the most photographed women in the world” for suggesting she was a sex worker, then she was announcing her mission to take on the cyber-bullying of young people. Considering her husband’s record of bullying pretty much anyone he speaks to, this was a bit like the wife of Jerry Sandusky announcing she was going to take on pedophiles in college sports. A short time later, when The Donald went on one of his unhinged Twitter tirades, bullying two television journalists who dared to question him, Melania responded by defending him with a statement from her spokesperson: “As the first lady has stated publicly in the past, when her husband gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder.” Melania Trump coming to Canada as an emissary of the Invictus Games is exactly the kind of hypocrisy we don’t need in Canada—or anywhere—at any time. However, we are Canadian, and her husband is a psychopath who’s capable of starting a nuclear war over someone insulting his “hair,” so we have to proceed carefully. My suggestion would be that Mrs. Trump find a graceful way out and those who extended the invite support her wholeheartedly in her decision. Toronto doesn’t need the expense someone likes her brings to the celebration. But, more than that, this demonstration of her hypocrisy, which is also an exhibition of the hypocrisy of our entire corporately owned political system, cannot help but draw protests. Canadians may be polite by nature, but we also cherish our right to free speech and, if she came, many of us would exercise that right in order to point out just how offensive her appearance is at an event that honours those who are not like the majority. Parable of the Sower

The aspect of religion and spirituality was and is till this day two separate things lumped into one. As a child I grew up Catholic, and going to church every Sunday until I was around 11 or 12 was something that I think every child in my position struggled with. But in my case, I stood out the most from the crowed when I wanted to be at my most unseen, church was anything but that to me. That fact that my relationship with God needed a middle man (the priest) and myself to be forgiven was bullshit, I knew it from a young age that my relationship if I were to have one with God would be personal; and private. Which brings me to the quote in the Parable “At least three years ago my fathers God stopped being my God” (Parable 7). I grew up believing in a higher power, so saying that my mother’s God isn’t my God is not true for me, but what is true is that the construct of her religion or of any for that matter I do not believe in. I am agnostic when it comes to religion, I don’t believe in fallowing in man mad things, much less religion but a I do have a respect for some of the good that it does; I can’t deny that. The fact that she thinks God is change is a great way of trying to find a connection to one of the things we can’t see or touch, in a sense I firmly believe that God comes from within.
What pertains to me when it comes to importance and the book itself, I think that disability was used sometime at the beginning of the book. I say this because it is not secret that I am wheelchair bound, and I think that you may know this already Lane I am proud of it. But it was the quote in parable where Lauren details “Hyperempathy is what the doctors call an “Organic Delusional Syndrome”. Big Shit” (Parable 12). I bring the point of disability up because it was one of the first themes that attracted me to the book right off the bat in the beginning chapters, she explains throughout the book how she has to deal with it and that resonated with me to a high degree. I’ve spent my whole life up until recently fighting to find myself, not realizing that I was fighting myself, when I realized this I let go and allowed myself to become the man that I needed rather than who I wanted to be. I have what you call AMC or Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita refers to the development of multiple joint contractures affecting two or more areas of the body prior to birth. Like Lauren I’ve fought with who I am throughout my life time, besides her struggle of survival the internal strife that she deals with I can relate to.
Another factor that I think pertains not only to my personal life but to the lives in the city would be the issue of homelessness that constricts the cities, and its citizens alike. I think the quote doesn’t do the homeless folks justice because I’ve met some that whole heartedly under circumstance out of their control lost everything but their body function, their minds and their strong spirits. In Parable she states that “Most of the street poor- squatters, winos, junkies, in general are dangerous” (Parable 10). Aside from the situations in the book there are a lot of good genuine homeless folks that were dealt a shitty hand in this city and even in this “Great” nation. It’s just unbelievable to me that we live in the 21st century and we’re still worried about problems that persisted a thousand years. That not to say that there isn’t some truth to this, I’ve had my fair shares of encounters, it’s just a shame.
