Week 11 - Connect CTS A to all other modules
Mindfulness has taught me to be observant of my surroundings and I applied this to Photography, when I had to snap pictures at the right timing and location. Critical thinking has helped me think both literally and laterally for my Research Frameworks.
Emotional Intelligence has helped me thrust my research for Studio’s week 2 and 3 forward by not being too hung up on personal emotions while researching triggering topics. I learnt to draw the line between work and personal life. I stayed connected with the task at hand by practising mindfulness and to come back to the same topic after recomposing myself. (Managing Your Emotions)
I learnt to adopt a growth mindset by welcoming critique. I learnt that results aren’t a true indicator of ourselves. I see that critiques are an integral way of improving my skill and for me to grow as a design student. The pin-ups have been useful for me to gain insight. (Hreha)
I use a spreadsheet to document my sources and their origins to avoid plagiarism for all my research. I try to expand my research by looking into books in the library and journals. This is evident in my CPJ. (LibGuides: Understanding and)
Documenting my work has helped me to see if my work is heading in the right direction. I reflect on my work and find linkage between what I already know and my existing tasks. Through this process, I communicate my ideas and process to my audience better and how one idea connects to the other.
(248 words)
Before (left) & After(right) pin-up. It’s a lot neater. But I’m still receiving feedback on how I can ameliorate further. I once heard from another design lecturer that design is always an ongoing process. We always want to stay relevant and not be stuck with the old ways of designing things.

Week 10: Discussing the Seven Weekly Topics as a Whole
Discussing the seven weekly topics as a whole highlighted the multifaceted nature of critical thinking in design. Each topic offered a unique approach, from understanding visual metaphors to the significance of structured research and collaborative work. The Critical Thinking Skills module has impacted my approach as a designer and student representative by enhancing my learning and leadership capabilities. Week 1’s introduction to critical thinking reshaped my analytical process, reinforcing the value of questioning assumptions and approaching issues from multiple perspectives. This has aided my CPJ work, encouraging more thoughtful reflections and better project outcomes!
Week 2’s collaborative skills proved essential for my group projects in Studio, teaching me to communicate effectively and balance different viewpoints. This skill has also been crucial in my role as class representative, enabling me to mediate discussions and foster an inclusive environment. Effective communication is key to building trust within teams (Wheelan).
Week 3’s focus on emotional intelligence taught me to manage stress and understand team dynamics better. This has been particularly helpful in coordinating group efforts and addressing classmates’ concerns. Emotional intelligence also played a key role in maintaining composure during demanding assignments, supporting personal growth and teamwork (Goleman).
Week 5’s growth mindset encouraged me to view challenges as opportunities for improvement. Applying this in Craft Workshop allowed me to experiment without fear of failure, fostering innovation. It also inspired me to encourage peers to take creative risks, boosting morale during group efforts.
Week 9’s digital media documentation reinforced the importance of tracking creative processes. Integrating this into my CPJ led to clearer project presentations, adding value to my role as a student representative, where structured documentation aids communication.
These interconnected topics formed a toolkit that improved my ability to lead and collaborate. Understanding critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and growth mindset made me more empathetic and effective in group settings, supporting my leadership and academic growth.

Review ‘GURU’
Review ‘GURU’
EXHIBITION TITLE : GURU – kudhu ngGUyu ndelok RUpamu
CURATOR : Pugud Haidi Agusdilla
ARTIST : Firdaus Muttaqi
EXHIBITION DURATION : 16-20 December 2017
LOCATION : Semeru Art Gallery - Jl. Semeru No.12, Oro-oro Dowo, Klojen, Kota Malang, Jawa Timur 65119

Many artists in East Java are born from art academies based on education, such as Surabaya State University and Malang State University, or the Adibuana University. These campuses became the largest contributor of academic artists in East Java, though not as artistically determined to be an artist but many graduates from this education campus who chose to jump in the practical art path rather than become a teacher.
dokomentasi budidayabaik
Though many artists are coming from educational-based educational but educational arts exhibitions are very seldom illustrated, the more organized is the exhibition of questions about other issues and the art itself.
Firdaus Muttaqi is one of the alumni of Malang States Universitas from Asembagus of Sitobondo Regency who is now domiciled and works as a teacher in Malang city. On December 16-20, paradises heard an educational-themed exhibition titled "GURU (TEACHER) - kudhu ngGUyu ndelok RUpamu (wanna laugh look at your face)", this became a refreshing exhibition of my taste because some of the art events happening in Malang lately only question about the art, technical, as for thematic exhibits but the embedded theme only becomes the patch of the displayed work.
In this exhibition is interesting to see artists make the exhibition with the theme of education, the problem is that as a teacher of art and culture always requires students to work, but on the other hand, the teacher himself never works, only working on the economic basis without any more further done. From this problem, artists try to organize a work that is activated through exhibition activities.
dokomentasi budidayabaik
The presentation of the work done by the artist is also very good where the artist creates an interactive classroom that can be responded by the appreciator, such as the bench which in class should not be scribbled, in the classroom in this showroom can be doodled. Furthermore, there is LJK (answer sheet normally distributed during the exam) given to the appreciator, then it can be filled with the heart, the artist tells that in the sheet class becomes a frightening specter because each sheet is shared means there will be exam, is the process of measuring the ability of students who must be repeated until students are able to achieve the value that has become standard. In addition to actually bringing the artist class to add a whiteboard and some other accents. The artist also exhibited some sketches of his work in the classroom, as a statement that he also works unlike other art teachers, who only demand his students to always work, but not so with himself (the teacher).
The exhibition is one of the most interesting actors, although it is not a question of the difficulty of learning methods, curriculum, or anything else, the themes raised by artists are quite common among art or art teachers, and artists can raise their work not only through one angle view but done by contrasting some point of view through his works. With the existence of works that are participatory allows occurring between works, artists, and appreciators to discuss further talk about the problems raised by the artist. (dnm)

Being a successful artist means running a good small business 🏃🏻♀️ I had to learn that the hard way, it took me over a decade to get here. Besides teaching myself how to paint I had to teach myself photoshop, how to make art cards, build a website on notepad, then on Wordpress, manage a blog, take good photos of my work, build a mailing list, how to apply to art shows, how to put up art shows, how to take down art shows, how to get rejected from art shows, when to stop doing art shows, how to sell art online, when to start listening to people, when to stop listening to people, but mostly the hardest lesson of all was not blaming myself when things didn’t go my way and being able to try new things and adapt to what works for me and my art. A steep uphill climb but I’m my own boss and all the little steps add up and at the end of this journey I will have built a very unique and magnificent view of the world, I hope!🎢 Yesterday someone asked me what I do for recreation and it was hard to answer because this pretty much eats up every free moment I get. Is this recreation or obsessive addiction? Anyway, I showed her a picture of the new beer can and accompanying painting and she seemed impressed enough with that🦎🎈#artobsession #artlife #artbrand #artentrepreneur #entrepreneurlife #artbusiness #artdocumentation #photographingart #smallbusiness (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv-im0hACtr/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=pp8m9eef2hy5

Week 9 - Digital Media: Documentation for Art Practice
Evaluating our image findings is imperative for a cohesive-themed mood board. Our choice of keywords on search engines does impact our findings. Research can begin in both literal and lateral ways. We can use a thesaurus, find images related to the research topic or read up on biographies found at the back of books and articles. (LibGuides: How to ) That would certainly provide different perspectives as to how to carry out a research topic. I chanced upon Daniel Eatocks’s Design Department Internship posters at the Walter Art Center.
It is a double-sided poster that documents every project produced within the first 6 months in the internship at Walker.
It’s an effective way of documenting CPJ visually, with research images organised chronologically. This reflects and depicts the approach being taken. (Allan) We can communicate with others on the trajectory, desired outcomes and the purpose of the projects. Documenting CPJ helps find connections from past projects to our current projects and how we can execute our projects better. (The Artistic Journey) Visual documentation is also a way of learning how we naturally do things and self-exploration. The types of sources that I get my findings from also become diverse.
Documenting your work protects me from any allegation of plagiarism, which can possibly tarnish my professional image and lose out on potential opportunities. (Why It’s More).
Moodboarding is part of documenting research findings for digital media. For the 4 ethos that we were supposed to choose, my group chose Happiness, Freedom, Fashion, The Earth.
As young designers of a new generation, it’s important to be adaptable. Adaptability expands the scope of the designers’ style and expertise, propelling them to advance into design topics. They will see different perspectives and engage in problem-solving approaches, subsequently ameliorating their general knowledge which can come in handy for future projects. (Taylor) Another trait that I find important that all young designers should have is being meticulous (Igor Ovsyannykov). Being meticulous produces impeccable results, which adds depth to the quality of work produced.

Some Tips on Documenting your Artwork
Having good documentation of your art is absolutely essential for artists working today, so getting into the habit of taking good images of each artwork you make, as you complete it, will help you so much long term. The work you are making now is what we call your portfolio, and good images of your work are the thing that could help you get you a better job or internship, an art exhibition, grant, or award, or even help you get into your choice of graduate school if that is the path you decide to pursue.
This video is especially helpful for folks taking images of their 2d work with a phone at home.
There is no excuse not to have good images of your work!!!!
