We will have 12-15 typewriters on hand thanks to @toacertaindegree to aid us in the creation of a collaborative exquisite corpse zine for Orlando Zine Fest 2019. With his artwork and latest volume of poetry, The Return of 2 Dick Willie, he brings a unique evening of poetry, music, and visual art (adult content, book signing to follow). Ursula Rucker, one of the architects of Philadelphia’s poetic revival, has transfixed audiences from Tokyo to Capetown. She has worked alongside the likes of Gil Scott-Heron, Mos Def, Macy Gray, and the late great Nina Simone. Shrine for the Black Madonna, featuring Brian Tate, has been described by Vernon Reid, the founder/guitarist, of Living Colour, as the Next Sound of Rock. Happy stick season! We'll be grateful when it snows. Until then here's a peek at the Artisans banner I created for #artontheriver in #bethelvt. You may recognize the view from the #blossomblock downtown! I included some process shots, too. For those who are curious I really enjoyed the opportunity to use graphic media, but I am a not-so humble #draftsman and I wield a fierce pencil! Many of the meaty bits in these designs were born as real drawings on actual paper. Sometimes I can work quickly and efficiently in digital, other times there's no substitute for drawing on paper and it can even save me time. Enjoy! Come out to @atownartmuseum this evening @raphaeltreza beautiful film #cobragypsies is being screened! 4:50 p.m. Documentary film: Cobra Gypsies Filmmaker Raphael Treza traveled to northern India and lived among an ancient tribe known as the Kalbeliya for three months. Although many of them have never before met a foreigner prior to Treza’s arrival at their camps, the tribespeople (see featured image, above) seem unguarded in their enthusiasms to share their culture.
