Practice time and issue 4 of #art_here_art_now: "I need tons of pricy art supplies to practice". Professional art supplies are attractive as hell and they usually promise us fantastic results. But when you're not very confident and not sure what to do with your new $100 brush or $200 paint set they can seriously discourage a beginner. It's easy to come to a conclusion like this: "I'm not good enough for these precious instruments, so I’ll just store them until I become a great artist". In fact they are just mediums and they should be used and even wasted at times, so if you're only a beginner try to do your own research on affordable but good supplies. Let's be honest, it's impossible to paint with kids' paint set on the office paper and the investments are inevitable. But make sure to spend wisely: instead of 48 professional colors set opt for 8-10 separate pans or tubes of essential colors. You can find a lot of info about different ways to assemble a perfect set of colors. Do check chinese retailers for brushes: they have decent ones for a good price. Try online auctions for slightly used stuff, sometimes it’s possible find new items with a great discount. And don’t forget to treat yourself with a desired fancy item every once in awhile, because you deserve it 😉 #watercolor #art_lifehack #watercolour #aquarelle #learningtopaint #acuarela #draweveryday #painteveryday #waterblog #paint #artwork #origianl #originalart #水彩 #水彩画 #수채화 (at Saint Petersburg, Russia)

One more sketch from the weekend and issue 3 of #art_here_art_now - “I paint something but I it turns out ugly, I will never paint anything beautiful”. Now that’s a thought that can make me not just tear my works to small pieces but also put away my brushes and paints and stop practicing. And what do we get when we stop practicing anything - and this is not just about art, but also sports, foreign languages, dance moves, magic tricks? Right, we don’t progress. If we’re really persistent at not practicing we even regress. Then comes the time when we get in a mood and want to paint again… but the hands just feel stiff and they don’t do what we expect them to do. Here comes the disappointment again: “This just proves I can’t paint”. So here’s my recipe of dealing with the situation: before you tear your failed masterpiece apart and burn it, give yourself a chance to contemplate what went wrong and what you could do differently next time. The only pleasant thing about a failure is our chance to learn something, so try to take this chance! I can’t promise you that second time will be perfect, but third or maybe tenth will be much better. There’s just no other way of learning the skill, so let’s not take each mistake like the end of the world. Now look at your “failure piece” again and find something that you like. There definitely is something that you did well. It’s good to recognize even small wins because it keeps us motivated. It also helps to be more objective towards our work and to find and hold on to our strong points. After all that work you can finally destroy the evidence of your disgrace if you still have the urge 😈 - - - - - #watercolour #水彩 #watercolorart #painteveryday #sketcheverything #art #aquarelle #акварель #painting #paint #instart #aquarelle #acquerello #sketching #sketcheveryday #painteveryting #learningtopaint #watercolor #painting #draweveryday #waterblog #수채화 #acuarela #水彩画 #учусьрисовать #paintinginspiration

Last week has been highly counterproductive, so I just have to turn to this topic in my #art_here_art_now series. Issue 2: “I need an inspiration to start practicing.” On many occasions I, and I’m quite sure many others too, don’t do much in terms of practice because the Muse didn’t come down or godly inspiration isn’t guiding my hand to finally take that brush and paper. All I know is, Muses don't exist, at least ones that come to you when you're sitting and waiting doing nothing. So let the fact of practicing and learning be your inspiration! Treat it like a routine that needs to be maintained. When we don't practice we lose our skills, so why the heck would a Muse come to us if we're not prepared to welcome her? Get your uninspired self to work, and soon enough you'll see you don't need any Muse, you're cool on your own! And right in that moment you'll hear the Muse flapping her wings and kissing you 😉 (at Saint Petersburg, Russia)

First post from the #art_here_art_now series. This series of posts will be dedicated to fighting procrastination and learning to take a time to practice art and hopefully progress! Issue 1: “There’s nothing to paint”. On the contrary, there’s everything to paint! Just take a look around, even when you’re at home: there are so much objects you could study and paint. And don’t forget to look out your window! I’m sure there’s something that could be a model for an exercise. Today I tried to find a tonal balance and find solutions for some other problems that I face with my paintings and I used the view from my window. The best thing is you can return to the same set of objects again and again and try to find the best way with it day after day: this view is something that’s always there for you. This is also a great opportunity to observe how the lighting changes depending on the weather and a time of the day. Don’t just think: “If I went to some beautiful place, I would immediately do a great painting of it”. The only way you can do a beautiful painting of anything is practicing A LOT. And the best way to get a lot of practice is to understand that every object can be your model. If you haven’t yet decided what you like to depict most: nature or cities, objects or animals and people, it’s a great chance to try everything and see what’s your favorite. So go ahead and spend some quality time with your colors today! (at Saint Petersburg, Russia)
