I think about him all the time and it's probably been 20 years.

oh I definitely want to make this, it's like the perfect intersection of adorable and slightly unsettling (that might just be me though, I always find button eyes slightly unsettling lol) Do you have any color preferences for the duck if I end up trying to make one?

Second plushie sewn, but first using an original pattern! Here's how it looked on plushify:

The pattern has written definitely has a LOT of issues so I'm going to be tweaking it for round 2. I also discovered why you DO NOT stuff limbs BEFORE sewing them on unless you're sewing them to the outside of an already stuffed plushie.

As you can see, the carapace is a LOT wider on the pattern because I had to do a much bigger inseam to get the legs to cooperate so we lost probably 1-1.5 inches of fabric. The legs are kinda a mess and I had to do a lot of hand sewing to fix them. I actually had to do a lot of hand sewing in general. The abdomen is attached via hand sewing as is all but the bottom of her face panel, because I put her together in a way that she could not physically fit under the machine's needle to be machine sewed.

I had to redo a few portions a few times, and got my thread horribly tangled in the machine the first time I was doing the applique. (I'm still not completely sure what went wrong other than starting the satin stitch on those tight corners is Not The Way.) So what you see here is my second attempt because the fabric ripped, but this one still has some puckering on the lower part of the hourglass.

I think I'm going to change where I put the seams on the carapace, and probably sew the legs on after the rest of the spider is rightside in and stuffed. I also need to curve some of the pieces plushify generates for me because there are some slight "corners" on the abdomen from them because I didn't round out the model all that much.

So yeah, will be making another version of this pattern, and then...I dunno, making some to sell on etsy or something?

Bleh the struggles with this one are strange, with Mur making sure the core details got down was my focus but there’s so many design gaps for Three that there’s times I feel really lost or stumped on wtaf I’m supposed to do.

Personally I hate the button design for their stomach that I’ve done but I don’t want to mimic Mur’s because Mur specifically notes that it’s different/nicer than theirs from the company.

Also hands- fuck me. Hands are bad at the best of times but Plushified front on hands? The fucking worst I’m tempted to just leave them as nubs instead of mittens. Would youse care if Mur is the only one with Murder Mittens?

Very quick character design ref for how I draw Alfonse -- mostly to diagnose. A problem. Wherein I DESPERATELY wish and dream of making a plushie of him, mimicking the official FE plush line, but whenever I try to sketch it out it looks SO BAD.

I think the problem is that the chibi face/proportions are like. Antithetical to how I draw him. He loses all his sharpness and structure... 💔💔💔😔😭

Also to further explain the "DON'T THINK BLORBO GO" piece LMFAO, the exercise was to quickly draw him and then unpack the key features that are reoccurring/are always in the back of my mind whether I'm aware of it or not!

I'm not sure how best to do that, though. Should I make a post that's like "reblog this if you want your art turned into plushies", or "reblog this with links to art you want turned into plushies" or suggest a tag that people can add to art they want plushified, and then I go through the tag when I want to make some plushies? *no paper patterns, just drawing directly on the fabric so each plushie is one of a kind
