el ocaso de las perseidas - en el parque Arouca, en Portugal. 21h27m09s

estamos apostando por esto, parece que es lo único que nos va a salvar: una caminata acompañados (o solos), hablando o en silencio. este día estábamos a la expectativa de ver muchas perseidas en la noche.

no defraudó.

vimos muchas, incontables.

no estábamos solos. no estamos solos.

para contextualizar, este parque natural está a más o menos 50 minutos desde oporto (la segunda ciudad de portugal) muchísimas personas en los alrededores, buscando un pedazo de cielo oscuro y sin contaminación lumínica. tal vez no tantos como en un concierto, pero el mundo es muy grande, tal vez sí éramos más que en un concierto.  ¡hay esperanza! ¿hay esperanza? quiero pensar que sí la hay.

Las Perseidas es una lluvia de meteoritos que se puede disfrutar cada año a mediados de agosto. 

Estos meteoros son el resultado de la desintegración del cometa Swift-Tuttle, que orbita la Tierra cada 133 años, dejando una gran nube de diminutas partículas de polvo a su paso. 

Cada año, a su paso por esta región, las partículas de polvo ingresan a la atmósfera a gran velocidad (60km por segundo) y, debido al rozamiento entre ellas, alcanzan una temperatura elevada que las hace brillar.

El nombre de Perseidas se debe a que esta espectacular lluvia de meteoritos se concentra en la parte del cielo ocupada por la constelación de Perseo.

We are betting on this, it seems that it is the only thing that will save us: a walk accompanied (or solo), talking or in silence.

this day we were expecting to see many perseids at night. we saw many. uncountable.

we were not alone. 

we are not alone.

to put it in context, this natural park is about 50 minutes from porto (portugal).

lots of people in the surroundings, looking for a piece of dark sky without light pollution. maybe not as many as in a concert, but the world is very big, maybe we were more than in a concert. 

there is hope! is there hope? i think there is.

The Perseids is a meteor shower which can be enjoyed each year in mid-August. 

These meteors are the result of the disintegration of the Swift-Tuttle comet, which orbits Earth every 133 years, leaving a large cloud of tiny dust particles in its wake. 

Every year, as it passes through this region, the dust particles enter the atmosphere at great speed (60km per second) and, due to the friction between them, they reach a high temperature which makes them shine.

The name of Perseids is due to the fact that this spectacular meteor shower is concentrated in the part of the sky taken up by the Perseus constellation.
