personally i cannot digest the desperately knocking ur nemesis' door with "u are the only one i could trust right now" trope bc i tend to find them extremely unrealistic but this novel manages to do it in the most hilariously in-character way possible and i think the only reason it succeeds is that because the characters in question are both aro.

like, how else do u explain the "since i would rather die single, in facing the threat of my family forcing me into an arranged marriage, my next best action plan should be going to my archrival and asking them to commit fake marriage because my archrival is the only one i know competent enough to pull it off, and im 1000% certain that we wont fall for each other no matter what we do."

ok so, regarding elisa's bewitching eyes, the novel goes a bit deeper and has a better explanation of how they work. the effectiveness of this ability relies heavily on two factors:

the opponent's mana — the larger amount of mana they have, the harder they would be able to resist it

the opponent's mental defense

considering ludgers constitutions, it can be said that its quite obvious why the bewitching eyes didnt work on him.

but on the other hand, i find it kinda funny that the manhwa chose to leave out these details, and non-novel readers have no other choices but make wild speculations with no hints given.

even if your relationship happens to take place, the nature of your bond remains the same. what's so wrong with a marriage of convenience for the sake of both of your convenience? what's so sad about a romantic-less relationship when not all love is about romance? goodwill, intimacy, and trust can exist inside and outside any form of affection. whether or not you kiss or exchange love words says nothing about the depth of your bond or how much of an impact you have on each other. even if romance occurs, it is just a thing that sort of happens. you dont have to adhere to society's standards for couples if you have no interests. you dont have to always be or do everything together if you dont want to. you define your own relationship and make it your home — isnt that good enough?
