I think a downside of being an aromatic author is that I have no idea the difference (or how to portray) between platonic/romantic so everyone's going to be a little in love with each other

Hello. First of all, thanks for your service as a platform to promote these kind of material.
My question is a bit tricky. On second year of college, a teacher recommended us if we wanted to go deeper into gender studies, she recommended a Spanish (although I'm not sure if he is from Spain at this point) writter. The problem is that I don't really remember his last name to read his works now that I have time, was something like "Manzanero" or "Manzano", but then again I've been looking for almost a year with no satisfactory results.
If you have no leads on this, can you please recommend some gender studies over pansexual and aro/ace people? Thank you so much for reading and for your work!
any chance it’s Cruising Utopia by José Esteban Muñoz?
for your second question, here are a few!
Ace: what asexuality reveals about desire, society, and the meaning of sex by Angela Chen
Refusing Compulsory Sexuality: a black asexual lens on our sex-obsessed culture by Sherronda J. Brown
Ace and Aro Journeys from the Ace and Aro Advocacy Project
Bisexual and Pansexual Identities by Nikki Hayfield
if you’re interested in more queer theory in general, or more academically-leaning non-fiction check out our non-fiction guide & lists like ‘let’s get studious’!

Can i just mention that it is really funny how Weiss crush on Neptune was a whole thing for a while and then it completely disappeared during volume 3 to never be brought out again? I just find it really funny, one writter probably look at it at some point and realized "Yeah, this isn't going to work" and then *Poof* like it never happened.
Weiss: Yeah I'm aro, get this man off me.
Seriously it is so perfectly the "lesbian/ace/aro woman picking a man to have a crush on and then realizing it's not happening" trope that I'm amazed it was accidental.

I started reading fanfic about the same time I start having a crisis about not knowing my sexuallity, and I used to not support reading smut at all... But when I finally learn about being ace and sex-repulsed, and accepted it (because I was sort-of in denial first) I suddenly read a LOT of smut in some sort of weird revenge way like "oh wow now I know why it make me uncomfortable and found an explanation for why I'm not interest + people who don't tell I'll be obliged to get on with it one day! AH f*** you smut you can't hurt me, your power over my subconscious is gone now!" xD tough still only m/m, otherwise I might identify and then it still make me feel really bad.
It slowly tapered of with time and now I just don't really care if there's smut or not... I still generally cross-read or pass it if possible just because it bore me, but I'm rarely bothered by it anymore (so long as it's m/m). But like, if I pass it, I also don't feel guilty for passing part of the writter work anymore because now I know it's fine to not like that part and take care of myself and my own limit/preference, if that make sence ?
(Funnily enough, despite being aro and very very romance-repulsed irl, it never bothered me in fanfic at all, I'm a shipping monster :p)
That makes a lot of sense! I'm actually similar in a way - I was a lot more sex repulsed before I found out I was ace. Afterwards I actually started enjoying smut and I'm perfectly comfortable with making sex related jokes in conversations now too bc I know it's fine if I don't actually want to engage with any of it in real life

Charles Finn -writter -24 y.o. -ace/aro -cis -moved to London because he wanted to write books -lived with his sister until she had to move to the USA because of her job as a jornalist. Then, he started to live with Victor Dawson, a boy who had no place to go and that Charles literally found on the streets -likes poetry and silence -too lazy to eat sometimes -has no patience, specially with Victor -bff with Victor, although it took a while for them to stop arguing about every little thing
