Armada Starscream x Reader

• Still not really awake, you stretch until your muscles strain and your shoulder brushes something warm. And you’re surprised you’d fallen asleep at all, because Starscream has his servos loosely curled around you, one under your head and the other under your hip so you’re curled awkwardly on your side. Not really comfortable at all, but the fever had broken at some point. Those big servos flex slightly when you try to wiggle free, and hearing him vent, you give up and just lay there. Because that perpetual frown is gone when he’s recharging. He looks almost happy.

• Coming back online by degrees, he’s aware of you lying on his chassis alongside his canopy. Of the fact that his servos are wrapped around you. Chin tucking down so he can see you watching him, he cautiously rubs a servo against your temple. Not as warm as you had been. That’s good, right? “Better?” Because he hates watching you be so miserable and having no idea how to help. Aware that he doesn’t know nearly enough about humans.

• “Yeah.” Sitting up when he shifts his hand to release you, now that the fever’s broken you’re painfully aware of the fact that you’re half naked. And as if sensing where your mind has gone, he’s reaching and sending you sliding off of his chassis to the berth under him to retrieve your blanket. Taking it from him, you offer him an embarassed smile. “Sorry about all that.”

• “All what?” Watching you wrap yourself in your blanket, hiding away soft skin and your form, he slides off the berth and softly whistles with his turbines. Seeing the mini-cons reluctantly coming online. “You never need to apologize for needing someone to take care of you,” he says, frowning down at you as the mini-cons chirp at him, but get out of their little berths.

• Fingers picking at the end of your blanket, you warm at his words. But the guilt is still there, the feeling of being a burden to him. And not understanding why he’s still looking after you when he doesn’t have to. He could have just dumped you in some random town and been done with you, so why does he keep you around? Breath catching when he tips your chin up with a big servo, you’re sure he’s about to say something else. But then he just turns and walks away, mini-cons in tow.
