A couple of pics from some multi-disciplinary (if not, methodologically fused to satisfy a label of ‘inter’) projects I’ve worked on at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. (Above, 2015, my first art job gig in Arkansas was portraying, through acting, Frederick W. Hughes, who was Andy Warhol’s quirky and strong-headed business manager. The piece, which was devised, used Microcosmic artist, Jamie Wyeth’s ‘Tableau Vivants’ (second picture) - little model recreations of the atmosphere in Warhol’s history using G.I. Joes as the primary world we explored surrounding, also, ofcourse by some Warhol temporary exhibits. The performance was looped (like most all of my work at the museum), improvised in its closed-system of action, and operated as a sense of performance art as much as theatre, in one of the galleries.(Below, 2016 New Year’s Eve into 2017) where I directed “Gems of Brazil” in the permanent collection: which, using cassette tapes in a meandering walking traveller’s tour, takes the patrons of a jaunt through nativism, colonialism, American history, landscape / pastoral paintings (which were fused in an examination inspired from animal documentaries), founding father sculptures (a feminist take on Hamilton, in hiphop rap), and finally ending with Martin Johnson Heade’s ‘Gems of Brazil’ series (an ensemble dance). My favorite of the Heade series was not the hummingbirds, but this Blue Morpho butterfly. In 2016, I also directed (photo not included) a two person painter/painting dynamic physical activation of a painting of a woman by Alfred Mauer in an exhibit titled, “Art on the Edge” by Laura Shaktus of ArkansasStaged
