Alright lads what up it's ya boi back with another crack video game lore theory but this time it's about the ark animated series because the Brainrot has gotten sooo bad dude help me
Anyway here's my theory on Rockwell's backstory based entirely on approximately 2 seconds of teasers and a singular drawing in the background. I'm expecting basically all of this to be incorrect I just think it's fun to speculate. Im tagging it as spoilers anyway just to be safe
1. He had a daughter named Charlotte (based on the drawing of a young girl in his study, which is who he likely name-drops in the part 2 teaser. I'm assuming daughter because it could serve as a bit of a stand-in for Helena's role in the game lore. Or a prerequisite. Bro is not escaping fatherhood no matter what version of the lore we go with and I think that's funny) [side note it's extremely cursed that that happens to be my name as well, Wildcard out of all the feminine English names you could have picked why did it have to be that one I'm goign to implode]
2. She died (bonus points if she dies of some illness that Rockwell himself recovers from, for that extra survivor's guilt)
3. Rockwell tried to lose himself in his work to cope, unfortunately said work happened to be early studies on Element and he started going off the rails about its potential of creation and modification, and no one believed him about its potential so they thought he's just genuinely insane (hence the "what is God compared to the genius of man" type comment. This would also parallel Helena being responsible for the early concept of recreating extinct creatures, much later used in the ARKs. He came up with the how, she came up with the why)
4. He got mercilessly locked up in an asylum and started to further deteriorate due to isolation (given how they've handled other characters I'm assuming this will be presented as a Bad Thing by the show. Like I don't think it'll be framed as "lol he deserved it" I think it'll be "hey this is why maybe we support struggling people instead of locking them away and forgetting about them")
5. He eventually dies and then wakes up on the ARK, cue extra "why did I get another chance and not my daughter" pain
6. While on the ARK he starts obsessing over Element again to prove to himself that he was always right about it and didn't deserve what happened to him
7. The Element starts inevitably corrupting him and from here we follow the old lore path yippee!!
If any of this comes true I will be eating drywall btw. Drinking paint. Gnawing at the bars of my enclosure etc etc

ARK TAS theorising (spoilers)
Honestly was confused when Helena brought out the green artifact and I was racking my brain to figure out which one it was. Turns out it was the Artifact of the Pack which I’ve never really seen a lot of. Pretty neat, anyway. With that said, it’s interesting to see that the Broodmother’s defeat meant the Green Obelisk appeared, so I’m guessing the Megapithecus in the sixth episode’s trailer is the next boss they’d go for (or stumble upon, they didn’t know they were about to go into a nest of giant spiders lmao). The other two artifacts must be the Artifact of the Strong (blue) and Artifact of the Immune (red). Either one is terrifying in their own respects and I can’t imagine anyone willingly going into either cave to get them. (You know, the toxic gas, and the stupid amount of creatures in both caves, Strong’s cave having super cold temperatures and yetis n all that jazz). What I am most interested to see is the inclusion of TEK gear, what I assume to be the TEK rifle when Mei-Yin takes one (AND LEAVES THE OTHER??? I would totally grab that for some extra firepower if need be).
On another note, I named every ARK creature I could see when they appeared on the screen (though I wish we saw more of that Quetzal, oh well, the baby is good enough for now).
That’s all I got for now, I want to see more people posting about this series (i watched it for the lesbians).

Watch ARK: The Animated Series!!!!
So, I binged ARK: The Animated series today. It's a TV show, which is based on a video game and not only is it great but, I swear to God, whoever wrote this set out with the intention of pissing off the Gamerbro crowd as much as humanly possible.
Stuff that will make the Gamerbros cry and whine like little babies: 01). Main Character is a Aboriginal Australian Lesbian (Voiced by an Aboriginal Australian Actress no less). 02). Main Character's wife is a blue haired women who works as a translator for a humanitarian air organization (voiced by Elliot Page). 03). Main Character is a neurodivergent paleontologist. 04). Main Character's mother was a civil rights activist. 05). There's a plot line revolving around protesting the taking of Aboriginal lands. 06). Another major character is a Chinese Warrior Woman who is also a great big lesbian (voiced my Michelle Yeoh). 07). Main villain is a Roman General (Voiced by Gerard Butler) 08). Secondary Villain is an 19th century British Scientist (Voiced by David Tenant) 09). Tertiary Villain is a female Roman Gladiator. 10). Another major character is a Lakota man from the 19th century who was abducted from his tribe and sent to one of the Indian boarding schools. 11). The Main Character is better at science than the 19th Century British Scientist guy.
Great things about the show: 01). It's very gay. Like, so gay. 02). The characters are freaking awesome. 03). There are freaking dinosaurs. So many dinosaurs. 04). It makes you feel. Just, seriously, it makes you fucking feel.
Cons: 01). Content Warning: Self Unaliving in episode 1 02). This show is fucking violent. Like, I get that there's this whole 'battle for survival' thing going on, but we're talking kind of gratuitous 03). levels of violence. Seriously, half the animation budget was spent on red paint. That much violence. 04). The show is predictable AF. Like, I don't mind that, but don't expect any real surprises or plot twists.
In conclusion: Watch the fuck out of this show, because cons aside, it was freaking amazing. It's not like, Arcane levels of perfection, but if you want a fun, gay, show to watch, this is a great choice. There is also a part too already filmed and in the can which will drop later this year, so we're definitely getting more, and even the preview for Part II has gay in it.

OKAY SPOILERS FOR SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS: DARK BEGINNINGS EPISODE 3 BELOW
I meant to make this sooner but forgot, whoops–
Anyhoo, Team Dark is still the best.
It's very interesting that they're recapping Shadow's backstory, but I guess some people don't know and they want to make sure everyone's up to speed for the new game.
SHADOW SMILED. EVERYONE FREEZE.
Omega I still love you. Gosh he's so cool.
SHADOW CAUGHT A MISSILE. WHAT. That entire sequence was unbelievably awesome. That is how a fight against the Ultimate Lifeform should be. Him darting in and out of range as he attacks and moving too fast to see. The effects for Chaos Control btw? *chefs kiss* beautiful.
Shadow's spindash makes him look like a spinning ball of fire and I love it. I love that he saves the pilot at the end too. He's not a monster.
AND THE DRAMATIC WALK AWAY FROM THE EXPLOSION. SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG EVERYBODY.
"I wanted to destroy it." Sorry Omega, maybe next time. On the other hand, Omega probably wouldn't have thought to make sure no body was killed, so it's likely better that Shadow took care of this one.
I forget a lot of the time that the Ark is in space. Like, they need an entire space shuttle to get up there. Wild.
And the Commander is here! I didn't expect to see him, but it's a good thing he was here! His dynamic with Rouge is extremely funny to me.
And the comment that the only person who could have talked Shadow down is Maria?! And she died!?
And then the moment on the ship!? Shadow thinking about how his life could have been if Maria had survived?! And then telling himself to stop it, in the softest voice I've ever heard from Shadow?! Because he needs to focus?!
I'm going to implode!!
-------
Once again the animation in this episode SLAPPED, even if there was less action. There were still plenty of pretty explosions, and lasers, and fire. Like I said before, Shadow's Chaos Control was very cool to see, and I loved his spindash.
The assets for the space shuttle and the G.U.N console-thing are just beautiful, I think the low lighting makes everything look so good.
It's sad that this little mini-series is over, but I'm looking forward to actual game and seeing what they do with our favorite Ultimate Lifeform.
(crossing my fingers for more Team Dark content in the future tho 🤞)

ok here's my overall thoughts on the whole dark beginnings trilogy. spoilers below!
things i liked:
- the visuals. the action was especially vivid and really helped me understand how i'm supposed to imagine these characters in a fight. there were also a lot of wallpaper-worthy shot compositions. the use of 3D within a 2D art style was...a little noticeable, but not immersion-breaking.
- seeing all these characters together again. we haven't seen team dark in a context like this for a while! and it's especially nice to see fresh interactions between shadow and rouge/shadow and maria. fun GUN commander surprise, too.
- rouge's characterization. i like that they're leaning into a lot of my favorite Rouge Traits again---she's tech-savvy, smart, does what she wants, and she's kinda Shadow's best friend currently living. this still isn't my favorite voice for her, but, you know.
- the angst, for lack of a better word. i loved seeing shadow's canon insecurities about his identity and his place in the world. i also think it was so effective to show how isolated shadow felt on the ark, and how maria was the only person there for him. it puts his grief for her into even better perspective.
things i'm kinda iffy on:
- i wish omega had more dialogue. plus, why did they repeat him saying "i call dibs" across shorts 2 &3 ? that was really glaring. he's kinda just the less important robot third wheel to the two other more interesting characters in team dark.
- the series ended on a kind of lukewarm note. it was just a reminder that oh, yeah, this is mainly a piece of promotional material for a game that will tell the rest of the story. presumably.
- i didn't really like the sentiment that maria is the only person who could talk shadow down. listen, i love shadow's backstory and how it informs his character. like i said, i was happy to see more scenes of him interacting with maria! the thing is, though, i don't want to see him married to his tragic past when he already decided to move on from it way back in shadow the hedgehog's true ending. shadow doesn't do good because of maria's wish anymore---he does it for himself, because he chooses to. he doesn't have maria anymore, but he has new friends who understand him. why must maria continue to occupy this unattainable high standard that even rouge can never reach? even shadow recognizes that his old life was taken from him, and he can never return to it. so why does the narrative seem to push back against that?
i'm willing to give this short series a little grace since it's not the full picture. plus, i think the theme of finding new friends is still there, it's just...not carried as far as i'd like it to be, i guess. i'm not saying maria needs to be replaced, i'm not saying shadow can't remember her. i just think her memory should be used as more of a foundation for him to build new connections.
at the end of the day, though...i wanna see more stuff like this! i love that they're exploring the parts of sonic characters that make them beloved and interesting and cool-looking (same as the knuckles prologue short for frontiers)! i would take a full anime in this style any day of the week.

So, they finally released Ark, the animated series version of the games, and I decided to give it a watch. It's got David in it playing the villain (that's not a spoiler, it's pretty damn obvious from the moment you see him), and so far I'm enjoying it.
It's got dinosaurs, our protagonist is a lesbian and Aborigine, and there is a lot of violence and stuff happening. And there's David being an evil bastard in a lot of ways. I want to punch him, so that means he's an excellent David-played villain. You want him to get his comeuppance so badly.
I've never played the games (a former coworker of mine has and said they're amazing, but holy shit you need A LOT of space on your computer for it because it's massive), and said that Rockwell, David's character, makes for a very fascinating villian.
Also, what happens to him at the end of the game is fuckin' insane.
I hope to see it animated.
:)
2024 is another year for David, isn't it?

Ty for the cat ear tidbits. I do have a cat, so he'll be a good refrence point.
I think the dungeon meshi writer hit a note with the "discriminating against races with extra bones" bit cuz, it does make a difference with how enately human a character feels. I have characters with tails. But cat vampire man, is un tailable kinda. His feel as a character is dis connected once extra bones are introduced. (if goes too much into avatar land, too many furry vibes lmfaooooo)
I think it's a small reason why laios is stripped of his monster bits at the end, lore reasons aside, it touches his feel as a character, his ark is established as him being sat in his human ness dispite his desire to be monster, somthing somthing (insert cohesive character analysis abt the ending of his ark here lmfao)
ah I didn’t know that at the end! I’m anime only 😅 Fair enough though. I know a few spoilers but I’d appreciate no more for the very end of the series please!
